You did lower the HTT to 4x right?
even at 210???? no i didnt should i have? i mean i know when using higher ocs you have to but i didnt realize that just a mere 10mhz would cause me to have to lower it? ok i go try 4x now :p:Quote:

hmmm? this detect pci lock crap should i disable that or leave it set to auto? also i tried ldt 4x and 3x witht the htt set to 210 @ 1.55v memory set to 2.8v and i got blue screen at start up?? im using a FX-53 and i was hoping that i would be able to oc to atleast 25-2600mhz before having to up any voltages... sooooooo i either have memory conflict or this chip is going to require some voltage? just dont see 210 being even close to the limit where i should be having to up the voltage to ANYTHING??? anyone? any idea's? ill try disabling agressive timmings and set it to 67 mhz to see if the lock kicks in or not??
thx perc,
I'm glad I didn't encounter any of the problems a lot of you are experiencing. I picked up my board and a 3000+ Winchester from mWave this morning, installed everything into my case, and took it to work.
I plugged everything in and powered up my rig about an hour ago. I initially booted up at 201MHz with no other changes to BIOS. From there, I bumped it up to 275MHz with 2x512MB memory modules running 1:1 at 2.5-3-3-10. I'm currently running SuperPi 32M and will post a screenshot of that alongside a Sandra screenie when it completes.
VCORE is currently at 1.550V and VDIMM is at 2.85V. 2475MHz (37.5% overclock) isn't too shabby for my first hour. I hope there's still some more left in this puppy.
Would any of the BIOS files after version 1.3 happen to have provisions for more VDIMM? 2.85 isn't cutting it as I know my 3200 Platinums were scaling with more voltage on my DFI 754 rig.
Cheers!
:toast:
The 1.36 has more vcore, but I think 2.85 is the max vdimm in any of the BIOS
if you can get the 3.3 line up to over 3.4, you get a pretty nice boost in vdim.
I think I need more than a little boost. If the DFI NF4 isn't out by next week (I know it won't be out yet), I'm going to purchase an OCZ Booster so I can push 3.3V to these Platinums.
The proxy server here at work isn't allowing me to connect to my FTP server. I'll upload my screenshots when I get home in about 2 hours.
My 3000+ is now at 9x291MHz with a healthy dose of 1.550Vx10% pumping through its transistors. I just finished 16M SuperPi and started the 32M run. That's a 45.5% overclock good for 2619MHz as of this writing. Memory is at 5:6 because I've reached my max at 280MHz 1:1 with 2.85V. My RAM needs more juice.
Screenies to follow in a few hours.
EDIT #1:
Anyone using the BIOS from Onepagebook? Did you find that it helped your overclocks?
EDIT #2:
Here's the screenshots I promised earlier:
http://webpages.charter.net/conrad-d...our_on_939.png
http://webpages.charter.net/conrad-d...290_on_air.png
Super Pi 32M failed towards the end of the 24th iteration when the HTT was set to 291MHz. I dropped it down to 290MHz, completed Super Pi without incident, and was able to run Prime95 for a little over an hour.
I'll run Prime95 for 24 hours after I post this and see how everything fares. If 24 hours of Prime95 without incident is a success, I'll start playing with BIOS 1.36, 1.37, and the one I downloaded from Onepagebook.
Cheers!

hey with this 1.37 moded bios i have lost firewire suport? anyone know else notice the lack of firewire suport with this bios?

I have 1.37 modded and no probs with firewire - my pod is plugged in right now :DQuote:

Is this a known issue with this bios?
Also have some issues with soft boot / reset not picking up my system (sata) HDD, even at stock. cold boot is fine.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Apart from these minor issues I love this bios.

so if i set CPU VID to 1.55v and 15%. it would change the voltage?

I think i got a bad CPU and/or Taiwan chipset on the mobo
I cant go over 270 HTT no matter what
i tryed LDT @ 3x, multi @ 8x.. cpu @ 1.73v ram @ 133 divider :(
any tips guys?
i got 2x512 mb ocz pc3200 el platinum (with ch-5 chips) i put them in slot 1 and 3 and the booster in 4 (in the msi k8b neo2 platinum) that's ok for oc'ing?

thx perc,
I don't think the temps are horribly wrong. I think they are measured very close to the core before the heat has had a chance to dissapate into the heatsink. Notice that as soon as I shut off Prime95 the temps drop about 10C immediately.
http://home.comcast.net/~vranichou/p...uz-cpucool.jpg
Does anyone know what PLL this mobo uses? As you can see my voltages are way off. I believe setting CPU cool to the right PLL will correct this.
I'm still tweaking this thing trying to get it stable. I have scored a 30s SuperPi time, but between the memory and the CPU I can't seem to get a grasp on what is causing errors. I'm going to run Memtest tomorrow at stock settings at 200 and 275MHz to make sure this memory is performing to specs. This is a pain compared to my 2600 Mobile system! Ahh.. But what fun!
-=Vran=-
I'm having the same problem, see here: http://forum.msi.com.tw/thread.php?threadid=66540Quote:

Yeah should be ok as long as you're very careful not to shorten the board with AS5, I used ceramique for both the CPU and NB since it's fully non conductive and many have found the performance is pretty much as good as their own AS5.Quote:

does the msi k8b neo2 platinum like the ocz pc 3200 el platinum with ch-5 chips (dual channel kit)?
Well i have finished setting up the new Neo2 and 3200+
Man i had a handful, ran into issues with xp-90 and XL Pros. Having LED Activity Lights on the Pros, since the ram is higher then normal i couldnt fit my xp-90 in
So XL Pros Neo2 xp-90 combo is NO GO!!!
So i had to use my Venus for now, well maybe later ill get new ram.
Ok havent had any time to o/c, so what temps are you guys getting on 3200+ 90nm and Neo2. Bios reports 39c idle and Speedfan reports 34c. Well ill have to give a good 200Hrs for as5 to settle though and then i can compare.
Pretty pist that i cant use the xp-90 with Vantec tornado Fan, well using the fan right now on the side panel as intake, blowing right at the hsf. Man its fricking loud at full speed, thankfully my case has to fan contoller nobs.
Well so far so good, so can you guys post your cpu temps and sandra memory bandwith benchie. I got 5700/5660 something like that, use to get on the 3500+ 0.13 5900/5825 but thats 200Mhs faster.
Cheers,
33°C Idle and 48°C Load, 2750 MHz @ 1,55V. With 200 MHz on Rams i have
5850/5770 MB/s with Sandra. With 255 MHz @ Rams i have 7520/7440. :)

At the above according to Speedfan the load temp is 46c while priming. Seems to high, maybe a bad mount but i doubt it, i think ill need some time for as5 to settle. What you guys think?

Like for my 3500+ 0.13 cpu i got that @ 1.5 vcore, so it seems strange.
The 0,09nm cpus are a bit hotter then the 0,13nm, thats all normal!

wow thats pretty nice.. so whats so great about the Korea?
It is said that NB from Korea (0418+ steppings) can run higher, i don't take that as a fact but as a higher possibility for the motherboard to run at high FSB. Ofcource there are some other things to consider, like the on-die controller or the RAM itself ...Thats why GravediggA is able to run that highQuote:

What is with all the others, who can run ~ 300 MHz 1:1 with theirs Neo2s?
Dont think all of them have an NB newer then 0418 Korea. :)
Seen all the info i can stomach on this board and have had so many issues it's not even funny but i FINALLY have them all worked out except for the cold boot issue which should be fixed with the new beta bios that's out.
My particular board will not boot an agp card if it's pushed all the way into the agp socket. I have to ever so slightly pull the card up just a fraction for it to boot and i've tried 3 diff agp cards all doing the same thing. I've also experienced random reboots for no reason and finally found out that running dimm slots 3&4 ,instead of the 1&2, like all the faqs say has cured that problem with both sets of my bh-5. System is totally stable for a change. I was also having an issue with setting up 2 250gig hd's on IDE 1 (1 master/ 1 slave). Every time i would access the slave and run/open a file the system would reboot. I finally just moved it over to IDE2 with my dvd burner and said to hell with it :)
Anyway, i thought i'd share some issues and a few resolutions from my experiences with this board.

It's taken me 3 weeks to get this board solid and if my mach will run on it i'll be one happy camper. :)Quote:

Well even if i dont o/c my +12V rail is 11.91 according to the bios!
Im using Tt 560W PSU and the +12V is only 28A, so this might be holding back my o/c.
Well i was having all sort of problems with XL Pros cant do past 210HTT 1:1 stable. I can past memtest at 250Mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T timings though, so i was really confused. This was happeing with 2 cpus, 3500+ Newcastle and 3200+ Winchester. 2 different Neo2s.
So i just picked some 3700 EBs, ill see if i can o/c 1:1 now, i know the EBs are capable of doing 240Mhz 3-2-2-6 1T timings and this is the first settings im going to run. If im still having problems than the only thing standing in the way is the PSU.
good luck..
problem:
when i try to run Western Digital's LifeGaurd tool to erase my HD.. the program freezes @ "Virtual Disk Drive" part.. what should I do?
this is also a case with may other tools like Boot and NUKE it freezes while its loadin the linux images
I have a NEO2 that says 0440A2 on the Chipset, but it's a Taiwan. No good? or anything after 0418 is good overclocker regardless Taiwan or Korea? Anyone know?
it doesnt matter what it is. just see if it OC's good
I hooked up the Northbridge fan on my Fan Controller and dropped the RPMs. Added a huge glob of heatsink compund. All is nice and and stable. I hate fan noise. I am running an Aquirius 2 water cooler on the CPU and 9800. This little water cooler works really well on this rig. I even crank the rpm's down on the radiator fan. Ahhhhhh quite. Only noise I hear are my hard drives. All is stable and quite.

Thanks,

Everyone has their own way of doing it, but see thread for some ideas.
Thanks man will have a look at it :)
After a while of testing my conclusion is the beta bios 1.41 sucks. Somehow I can't get over 250 no matter what type of mem I use (EB's, TCCD's, BH5's). However with the modded version of 1.37 I got upto an easy 270 1:1, and probally faster with TCCD's
will try the mod1.37 (i think that is one of trats bioses?) later on tonight and will report results as well.
I also have some problems higher than 260HTT with my mem's (BH5, EB).
This bios (1.4B1) solved my cold temps problems, but I think it's not so good with overclocking...
My BH5 don't want more than 3,4 - 3,5v in this board. With my "old" Giga K8N Pro, they run smooth at 261Mhz 1:1 with 3,6v...
I got a "Huge" problem! I got my memory today so I started to clock and ended my first clock with this: http://w1.971.telia.com/~u97102906/2.3ghz.jpg
then I mixed some settings in bios and now I cant get over 233FSB at all. Its so sick. I've tried to reset the sh*t and stuff but it wont work. I dont got a single clue why I can do a thing. ADATA Vitesta PC4000 DDR500 2x512, AMD A64 3200+ Winchester @ stock cooling and a old TNT2 card. Would be happy if someone could help me. Im currently using the newest bios 1.41.
TNT2 card = old AGP specification.
If I'm not mistaken, the newer AGP requires about half the voltage of the first generation AGP. Try using the 9600XT you have in your sig.
Its pretty dead so I cant do something with it =( So it would be good to raise the volt for the agp to the card?
No. First generation AGP is not compatible with motherboards that comply with the newer AGP specification.
Well Im up and running and still clocking, 2.4ghz now and going higher with my baby :D Just had to reset cmos again :P
im just having no love with this mobo.. it doesnt want to give me a good overclock :(
Im not prime stable at 3-2-2-11 1T 2.85vdimm 5/6 ram divider
9.5x 275mhz 3500+ 90nm @ 2600mhz
i have ocz 3700EB and ive been reading through this thread and apparently this mobo doesnt like it
my best 3dmark03 score was 13000 and thats at a prime unstable level :(
what settings can i do to make this work? different ram? looser timings? im pretty sure its the ram holding me back
can anyone tell me how to remove the NB fan ?
i tryed to do it, but failed
It's not that hard, Push out the pluggs on the backside, squeeze the "hooks" together and pull it throught the hole :D Dont know if you understand me but I cant give you a better explaination :DQuote:

You will need a Ram Booster with EB to go far. I burned out the Pot on my new Booster giving the EB the juice.... :D With the Ram Booster you should feed the EB around 3.0-3.2Volts or it will not do well on this board. I have given up and ordered some Gskill ram that can run high htt on lower voltage and better timings. :)Quote:

Hi,
I just started playing with a new MSI K8N Neo2 and a Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester. The last time I oc'ed an AMD was with an old Athlon XP so am fairly new to the 64's. I've really enjoyed the combination but have hit a very strange wall. Since I do not yet have my OCZ ram, I am using the old Geil Ultra Platinum PC4000 dual channel set in my system, so I have to run the memory at 133 (otherwise I can barely boot past 220) to test out the CPU.
I have so far reached 295 x 9 at HT 3x (memory at effective 190 MHz and 1T). But as soon as I try pushing to 300 x 9, my system won't boot. In fact, I don't even get a post screen and At 295 I can boot into windows and run Super Pi without any stability issues; Prime 95 does eventually crash out but does so randomly (one time at 5 minutes and another at 30), leading me to believe I should run at slightly less than 295 for gaming. Plus, 295 x 9 is achieved at stock voltages for the CPU. Do you think I hit a wall? Or might I have a setting wrong? I haven't yet tried dropping to 300 X 8, although I question whether that would be that helpful since I'd drop from 2.65 GHz down to 2.4 GHz for just 5 MHz of fsb. But I would like to hit 300 just for kicks and then scale back for gaming.
In a way this is just moot because I know with my OCZ's at 1:1 I will probably not make it to 295. Anyways, thanks for any suggestions.
For me it seems that the 1.36b ist the best for me! (High Vdimm + BH5)Quote:

Yes! But i have modded my board. ;)
Did you do the 3.3v rail mod? Wonder if ADATA Vitesta DDR500 want some more volt then 2.85v.
