Doesn't seem like there is one for the UD4 at the moment.
I'm testing F7B on the 790XT right now to see if it offers any improvement with the C3's....
So far I haven't noticed any difference other than the fact that it allows you to select cores when unlocking (in case one is weak).
re; F7b for 'XT boards
Thanks Asharp...i wasn't visiting faithfully...i did spend (or waste?) considerable time researching downcoring just to discover the bios would override unlockers anyways. anywhooo....
The new core selection feature pops up on the EC/ACC page (after a system reset if transitioning from locked to unlocked) - Geez, there's two mis-spelled words included as well :shakes: (let's hope the coding wasn't as rushed). That under-performing core_2 of mine can be cut from the team now  I am still surprised this issue alone inspired F7b. IMO they should just implement a downcoring option for all - independent from EC/ACC. Efforts appreciated just the same.
Final non-beta BIOS files are up for the UD4P boards.
F9 for 790X-UD4P
F7 for 790XT-UD4P
Changes:
1. Add CPU Core Control option
2. update Raid\AHCI ROM
I can't get Prime95 stable with more than 3.5GHz here, I need 1.475v to stay at this frequency. I think I have a bad chip
I'm using the F5 bios, is it worth to upgrade to F9? or it probably will not help?
specs on sig.
FWIW, I would try the newest BIOS.
My 940 really liked V's, 1.475 may not be enough. It was much more sensitive to temps and didn't get flakey until it got over 53c...
I take no responsibility, but if you keep Load Temps under 53c you can probably give it a little more juice. IIRC, my 940 was good to around 3.8 @ 1.55v under water... ;)
Watch Temps, take your time and play with it...
Pretty sure you have a little more headroom if your willing to push a little.
hmm I'll get better fans for the hyper212, it's getting at 61ºC after some time in Prime95, the ambient temperature is not helping too :p:
I'm gonna to play more with that, thanks for answering
edit:
does the ACC makes any difference on Phenom II's ocing?
Use F8 NOT F9
Ive tested all Official and Most Beta's from F1A to F9A for 790X UD4P .
The Highest and Most stable unlocking and clocking Bioses are as follows
( F7 and F8...ATM)
After trying the F9 Beta and F9 release ,, THE 790X ud4P would randomly drop Hybrid and and or Auto ACC...It would not stay in X B50 mode in any of the F9's After a soft reboot or when changing CPUx freqencies:shrug:.
F8 works for Hybrid and or Normal Mode
Reboots normal
Cold boots Normal
Overclock settings are fine....They do not reset..They stay right where you put them.
F8 shows the Voltage you set next to the voltage settings .The F7 does too. Any Bios Lower than F7 will be missing those voltage read outs next to the Item that you would adjust +/- volt wise.
My favorite ATM is F8 over my previose F7 which was also 100%stable.
I guesse that covers it.
I dont know about the raid , Im NOT running it on this machine but AHCI and Multiple drives and DVD(AHCI) run flawless for me .
Note: Core changing worked when it decided to keep my chip unlocked..The new Core option and or ACC would just reset when kept on Auto for the Cores to enable.
Thats why i went back to F8 ..No problems Unlocked above 4100+ on me little 550.
Having soft boots if I try to set HTT >264. It happens with all BIOS versions, tried a lot of various BIOS setting configurations, but I can't make my 790X-UD4P and X4 9550 to work at >2.9GHz:(
I have got 790XT UD4P with phenom 2 550. I got a strange problem.
When I start my system, sometimes, it turns on for 1-2 seconds and turns off. I cant turn it on now. The only way to turn it on would be to unplug power cord, wait a few seconds and then turn on. Strange thing it happens only once in 2-3 days, not always.
I changed psu, cabby and cmos battery too, to no avail. Still the problem persists.
No overclocking running at stock. What could be the problem?
I agree with gOtVoltage, I've been using F9 since i got the 790X-ud4p and was having problems with ACC disabling itself and a few other weird issues here ad there, I "upgraded" to F8 and all problems are gone, infact I'll need to look at my notes but i'm pretty sure its clocking slightly high now aswell.
Cheers,
Darn, I know F8 is more stable than F9 as a BIOS...but F9 has a later RAID ROM...
But my overclock seems significantly lower than it could be also. Darn. Should I flash to F8 and hope my RAID 0 array is okay, or stay with the F9 I'm already on?
It seems to be a known issue and it gets worse when you get to 269-270 HTT. Your BIOS becomes corrupt and RAM voltages are set to 2.8v+.
Would the 790XTA-UD4 fall into this threads purpose? Same board except SATA3 and USB 3...which I have disabled ;)
Has some really stupid bugs that makes it difficult to work with on DICE/LN2. Anything over 240 HT and it drops the cpu multi to default. Anything over 1.825v core causes a grey screen/freeze.
My HTT is at 281 24/7 and will easily go over 300 but I'm using G2 Brisbane not Phenom.
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=972675
I'm using the XT version of your board Beep and the HTRef will go alot higher if your willing to push it...
BE WARNED THOUGH! Pushing the HTRef above 250 can cause some serious OS problems and do all kinds of funky things to your Rig!
Don't try it on your good system drive until you've tested things... :p:
That being said, I got 311 HTRef on my board and it was pretty stable.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...3_Nomis10x.png
The trick seems to be to give your Chipset-NB a little move volts. 1.3v should be enough BTW...
Check out this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...238910&page=11
Start @ Pg 11, message #273 and go on from there...
Personally, I was really suprised how much I could get out of the HTRef once I tried pushing it... :D
Yep, 1.3V nb chipsette for me too.
This BIOS has a mind of it's own. I've got cpu voltage set at 1.025v for my eco-clock and cpuz is reading 1.2v. It was reading correctly the other day.
I just bought this board is there away to lower the ram voltage all I see is a away to up the voltage past normal, but I cannot find away to lower it. My ram can run at ddr3 1600 at 1.5v but the default appears to be 1.6v
trt740: Short answer is NO....
The XT-UD4P is a strong OC'ing board, but it's one major drawback is it's ability to adjust voltages with any detail.
Not only when it comes to RAM, but also, IMC, CPU, Chipsets and pretty much any other voltage you would like to fine tune.
Don't get me wrong, it's probably one of the better AM3/DDR3 boards out there, but the coarse voltage adjustments are pretty annoying...
Not only that...
You can use AOD to fine tune the voltages (which helps), but don't expect software monitors to report it correctly (especially the IMC v's)...
It's a fine board, and I really like it, but the lack of detail on voltages, and the reporting errors do make it a little harder to deal with.
If you keep playing with it you'll get strong clocks, it's just not the most user friendly board... :yepp:
Can anyone confirm if the MA790XT-UD4P with F7 can unlock a x2 555 to x4? (cant do it with a lower bios version right?)
You can do it with F7. I am currently with F7 and 550BE unlocked.
I have a question, I'm a bit confused about the PCI-E 16x slots on this motherboard.
So it says the first one is 16x which is what my 9800GTX is in, and the manual says the second one is 8x and when you do crossfire it is 8x/8x.
If I buy a raid controller which is 8x, will it run at 16x/8x or will it drop to 8x/8x since, if so is there a way to force maybe 16x/4x?
lol you wont lose any performance in 8x/8x dont worry.
Unless you have a highly OC/ed GTX295 or 5970 it's not gonna be a problem.
The slots are in "8x/8x" but the second slot just steals the first's bandwidth so to speak. If your RAID controller card doesnt suck up all the bandwidth you should be fine. (You would be fine anyway) :yepp:
Also, 4x would bottleneck the RAID card depending on how fast/how many the drives are etc.
You Should be fine..
If you press Control F1 you get More Options under the PCI-E setting..you can forcr 16x and 4x if i remeber..
If you use 8x it will force Both Slots 8x...
This Means if you Set the Second to The Raid Card for 8x your Ghraffics will be *x ..
You will not see a bottle neck with the GTX and that Raid card..You just cant Xfire now:D
790X UD4P DDR2 .......BIOS F9......
After running F8 for awhile i decided to try F9 again..
I Now can use Cas 7-7-7-20 timing on 1066 divder.. before in F8 it would not like to run cas7 for Higher freqencies..it would lock on boot or do other wierd stuff...Seems Giga tweaked the Ram timing in Bios a lot better.. I didnt notice this the first time i tried F9.. Im actually liking this Bios ,, a little more despite its low HTT Ceiling...
I can easily run 620 @ 7-7-7 @ 6-6-6 @ 5-5-5
where on all Previose Bioses this was very diffacult to run 590/600 on the 1066 divider using the Same Ram in all Bioses.
I also Noticed F9 uses less Volts...
F8 needed 1.56v for CPU and 1.375v nb vs F9@ 1.538v and NB 1.32v
Last week F9 was buggy..This week ill share my beer with it.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...736nb1_54v.jpg
not worried about XFire, never have done SLI or Xfire because I just don't have the lump sum to pay for two cards, and when it comes down to it, when i do feel a bit behind its better to just buy a new card. Im looking into a 5850 or even a used 5870 soon since nVidia has been stupid with the renaming/rebadging and the whole GT300 thing.
I'm having trouble with voltage not being seen or being adjusted in my bios.. I set it to 1.475 and only reads 1.408. I tried bunch of diff programs all read same, also tied F8B bios same thing, that bios increases my temps 5c load and idle. Thx
What power supply do you have? And for that matter, what is the rest of your gear?
I guess i would have to suspect a weaker/older PSU, especially one with split 12v rails that cannot supply the juice needed by the CPU. If it is older, then adding other newer components into the mix may make the situation worse..
I have a Antec 650 watt earthwatts.
965 X4
ma790xt-ud4p F7 bios
4gb of gskill 1333 ram
HD 3879 video card.
1 dvd-rw
1 640gb WD BE hd
CM 212+ 2 fans
4x120mm fans
PSU Calculator
Do you have anything overclocked? Which TDP of the 965 are you running? The answer is in the details.
A very barebones run of the calculator suggests your 650 should be enough. How old is your PSU? Have you had any storms lately? Is it possible your PSU might just be dieing?
Similar problem to what I've experienced. Try switching the PSU power switch to the off position for a few seconds and then back on as that is what temporarily alleviates the problem for me. I use an Antec 550HE and hadn't had this problem until I switched from 770 to 790x, all other hardware stayed the same.
The psu is only about a year old maybe a year and a bit.. I have C3 125 watt version..
Well it still doesnt matter, even if the 5 drives+ card use up all 8x of allotted bandwidth the worse perf drop you will see on your GPU is 1-2%.
Heres the breakdown of a 5870 on 1x, 4x, 8x, and 16x, PCIE-2.0 bandwidth. Even the 4x runs quite well, only bottlenecking the GPU a small amount.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/A...Scaling/3.html
You should also be able to push the PCIE bus speed to around 104-106 Mhz without issue, 110+ is when HDD's start getting mad at you and corrupting.
I found something interesting with my MA790XT-UD4P. I'm running the F8b bios, and if I have my Western Digital external HD, model WD2500I032 plugged in, I can't move around the BIOS screen. A little bit of a nuisance, but obviously pretty easy to work around.
Thought I'd share.
aythrea: Other than that glitch did you notice any improvement or new features by going to F8b?
I was thinking about flashing it, but I've kind of had my hands full this weekend.. :p:
It looked like it was just an update to support new chips, but ya never know...
Note:
as for Not being able to Move around in Bios ..Ive only seen this when the Ram or CPU Clocks were set too high after a flash or if you did not Clear CMOS and set defaults before Overclocking...
I use Hybrid Option on all the Bioses..To me Hybrid seems most stable Lthough in on a 790X UD4p DDR2....The 790XTA/790XT UD4p should be simalar as well.
To be honest, I didn't really look around before the flash. I loaded everything up, flashed my bios with the newest, and went from there.
I found that CTRL+ F1 on the main menu opens a menu to let you do some tweaking on your Northbridge and Southbridge, but it seems relatively inconsequential.
Just this week end I ran into a problem with not being able to move around in bios. At first I thought it was the need to enter a password to enter Bios(I have kids and they like to change thing on me, shouldn't taught tham about bios), but when I removed it, rebooted I still could due or almost due nothing in bios. Prior to this I had play around with gigabytes ET6 (newest vers.) tool. Tryed the auto tunning, of witch kicked my 7850 BE down to 1.4 instead of kicking it up from 2.8 to what ever it this chip could Handel. So I ended up uninstalling ET6. Boot up and was able to due anything I wanted to in Bios. Plus I was back at 2.8. I don't know if this the answer to any one else who is having this problem but it worked for me. Just one Question where is the F8b bios as I'm running F9, I didn't see the F8b bios on gigabyte site.
Wish I could find out what is going on with Gigabyte, it looks like they are forcing some of us to buy new motherboards to get support for Thuban. Example the 790XT-UD4P has had bios support since 4-6-10 for Thuban but the 790X-UD4P (DDR2) board has yet to get any support for it.
After going though the list the only DDR2 Boards supported are:
Code:GA-MA78LM-S2H -- 760G+SB710
GA-MA785GT-UD3H -- 785G+SB710
GA-MA78LM-S2 -- 760G+SB710
GA-MA78LM-S2H -- 760G+SB710
GA-MA785GM-US2H -- 785G+SB710
GA-MA770-US3 -- 770+SB710
GA-MA770-UD3 -- 770+SB710
GA-MA770-ES3 -- 770+SB710
GA-MA74GM-S2H -- 740G+SB710
GA-MA74GM-S2 -- 740G+SB710
GA-M68M-S2P -- nForce 630a
GA-M52L-S3P -- nForce 630a
So what pisses me off the most is the CPU I am going to be buying will also require me to fork up the money for a new motherboard as well as DDR3. But its ok for me to take a new CPU and put in my wifes 630a board or my mother's $45 740G board but not my higher end 790X board.
I assume Gigabyte will eventually have Thuban and Zosma supported on all qualifying boards. Has anyone contacted their tech support?
Be patient, hopefully Gigabyte comes through.
I have hope, but if they drop support for all the higher end 790x/fx DDR2 boards then i am going to be real pissed. Specially when they already had a bios for the DDR3 board and low end DDR2 boards based on 740g at the beginning of april.
Rejoice! X6 here I come!
790X-UD4P F10A is up!
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...S&FileID=15880
1. Update CPU AGESA 3.7.0.0
Edit: Okay, not really. Looks like they're still uploading the files heh.
New BIOS :
GA-MA790X-UD3P - F7a
GA-MA790X-UD4P - F10a
-Update CPU AGESA 3.7.0.0
LMAO at the timing, I :banana::banana::banana::banana: and things get done, don't you wish it was always that way.
*prays* maybe if i :banana::banana::banana::banana: enough AMD will give me a 1090T, 890FX, and a 5780 for free!
Well F10a works for me, no performance increases that I can see, they did fix the spelling error in the BIOS for the Manual Unlocking. Still unable to restart my computer from Windows or a Boot CD causes me to loose the Unlock. So that has not been fixed.
I wonder what the performance cost will be for running a Thuban with DDR2. Another question is , if the IMC of thuban is also better that deneb C3 in ddr2 handling/oc'ing.
Just updated my 790XT-UD4P bios to the F8C.
It seems to have dropped my overall temps a bit. I'll have to watch closely for a little while, but my no/low load temp is about 35C @stock setting.
With the latest BIOS it seems that I have a lot more issues on cold boots now....grrrrrrrrrrrrr
I saw this same issue with the 1055T @ 3.7 I just built. It could prime/OCCT/3DMark/Furmark stable all day long, but shut it down for 10min and it would go into a POST loop/recover from "failed overclock settings". 3.4+turbo worked out a better combo on this particular machine.
How often/what are the nature of your cold boot issues? Resolved by hitting restart a time/few times?
Dunno, can't figure it out. Sometimes I just hit the main switch on the PSU, keep it off for a few seconds, and turn back on. But it's not 100% guaranteed. So annoying.
Lately I have had a few BIOS Issues with my 790X-UD4P
1) can't restart or ACC fails (have to turn off then turn on to keep ACC settings)
2) sometimes after a hard shutdown and try to turn on the computer the BIOS will crash and revert to F4 then I have to reload F9 and reset everything
3) ACPI issues with Windows 7 on anything pre-F9 bios
Yes it is,, can be verry very buggy...I use F9 on the 555 for UD4P with DDR2@1200,,5-5-5-24 -2T... Keep HT below 2600 and try different HT multipliers..Some work better than others and Some will cause problems such as Not booting or going into bios after a reboot.:D
I flashed my F9 probally 10 times or so now from F4/F2 when i was playing around..
Ive found that the HT multi's are very buggy...Depending on what your HTT is set to , it can be misleading. Youd think that 11x would be stable @2400ht..it wasnt for me but if i bumpered it up to 12x 2600mhz HT at the same clocks my buggy booting or ACC reseting went away.. Its a crapshoot where even at stock HT it can be buggy ..
Slowly raising the htt and tweaking the HT multis is what gave me a sweet spot of 100% stability...
For every Oc i do on this rig ,,
i slowly tweak for Max HT and HTT..
I Note which multis and HTT speed causes what to happen( Crash or NoCrash)..
I then stick to something that always boots and shuts off Cold and will restart after being on for Hours... This is by far the Most finicky mobo ive used that dint like higher than 269htt using DDR2.
Oh,,Im always below the Max 1mhz (gonna Wigout and Blow up Mode):D
P.S. F10 after the weekend.. Will post what i find Monday,,Just working on 4wheel projects..No time lately.
I have settings as:
HT@2000
CPU@17.5x200
HTT@200
NB@200x12
RAM@800
so recommending if I get them out of the default zone even just a bit may help with the booting and restarting issues? So Ex:
HTT@225
CPU@16x225 (bump to 3.6Ghz)
HT@2250 (10x multi)
RAM@900
NB@2475 (11x multi)
I was wondering if adding +.250 is safe on air
my current setting are cpu 1.475v
n/b 1.4v
s/b 1.4v
n/b to cpu vid 1.4v
running n/b at 2800 and cpu at 20x200=4.0ghz
my current setting are cpu 1.475v
n/b 1.4v
s/b default
cpu-n/b 1.4v
running n/b at 2800 and cpu at 20x200=4.0ghz
Thx for the help shouldn't I leave the n/b voltage at 1.4v because of my n/b speed being set at 2800? I changed the s/b voltage as you suggested and for some reason my thuban need more CPU voltage than most to hit 4.0ghz. I think thx max voltage is 1.5v but I'm not sure.
Yep the Thuban IMC doesn't need as high of a cpu-nb voltage anymore.
Does this thread include 790XTA-UD4 boards too??
Thx to everyone who helped out
here is my new clock 24/7, pardon my crappy ram
http://img.techpowerup.org/100501/everyday.jpg
Have you tried lowering the HT link speed? 2500MHz is pretty high. I've noticed it being that high causes instability.
BIOS F8d:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SISGIEZ5
Don't want to try it yet, I got too many presets in the BIOS ;)
I am using 790X-UD4P (DDR2 version) with 1090T and Bios F10a. Observed couple of issues:
1. Vcore defaults to 1.28v correctly if I don't touch the multplier.
2. Upon overclocking (multi at 20) - default vcore is at 1.44v
3. CNQ/Turbo cannot be turned off - Chip downclocks to 800Mhz on no load regardless of settings in the bios.
Overall OK - runs and overclocks fine. Still some issues that needs to get ironed out. So much for support telling me "board under validation will release bios in couple of weeks". Wonder what kind of validation they do, took me 10 minutes to find these issues
the bios I have sucks the delay on boot is pissing me off.
F10A Bios....Boots up same speed as the F9/F7/F4 ..I found no differance whill using a X2/X4 PHII...The Boot being slower on X6 i dont know...If your using Raid make shure your AMD RAID OS driver is installed ..This may also help. Your on Win 7 anrnt ya... Been running 10A since Sunday Night... @ 4300/2700 on the 555/X4 ...Cold boots at 18c Normal has not dropped the Unlock like the F9 did once in while..
I would turn the PC off and let cool for about 1hour or so and even played with my Vista boot CD..( Dont have Win7)
All is normal so far...Remeber i have experiance what your going through on this Mobo..
So we both know it can be fixed..Its just a pain. All hardware is differnt but simalar at the same time(even Vista to Win7:mad:
Will ya post a CPU-Z of Dividers being used and one of the ram timing...
Also list your Volts too please ..
I had your Problem before with the F9 and This Vista install..
It is no longer present with 10A for me...
I have already clocked the same 4444mhz+X4 as i had with F9...
Some time this week ill see if i can go over the 270htt Wall which was on F9 for this CPU...
I have a funny feeling that one of your Voltage/HT settings may be the whole problem . Ive noticed if i used 13xHT while raising HTT and using800/ ram divider creates a conflict with booting..Seems certain freqencies are on the border of Stability when i use the 13x with certain HTT/HT settings.
Voltage for the Mobo is not a problem....It easily handles 1.62volts 24/7 @ 4300mhz..All Bioses
Actually i believe Thurban and a good bios will be Night and day Beep,,
His ram could be a factor..looks more like a HT conflict , seeing i have had the Same problem.
This mobo is very finicky when it come to HT/HTT using ram and what divider is being used.Especially if Cold , His mobo may want more Volts for the NBchipset or SB...
As for ram just a few that ive used on this Mobo.
Ive tried several Sticks,,
One of which refused to play nice.
Corsairs(DOMINATORS 1.2 dont like this Mobo..
My Ballistics(6400's Cas4's) and Patriots do(6400's Cas 4's and 9600's Cas5's..Has to do with Bios timing and tuning on what ram will work best... My Dominators would crpshoot @ 1150 or slower no matter the timing and sometimes just hang me on .
...OCZ' golds Vista 4gigs did great 1150mhz, The Balisstics (6400) @ 1100mhz and my 2.3v 1230mhz(9600)Vipers love it.
His Mobo can be one of those that wants more juice to be stable(especially when Cold..As for what the HT and SB may want..CPU-NB is usually CPU dependant and always on this Mobo has liked to be run around 1.3-1.35v even if im on 2gigs or 4,, or at 2400/or 2800nb..
Dosnt matter if i used a 430/550/555/9950/720/ locked or unlocked..They all ran with at least 1.3v or more when clocking the NB ..Not Chipset volts.
The CHipset NB i use 1.325v 24/7 The HT /SB i use 1.3v
Thers something that needs to be tweaked on his Mobo for stability..
HT/or voltage..Seeing Coldbooting and Sleep/hybernate affect it to..Kinda like a low voltage issue..Who knows.
I also had My CMOS corrupted twice with F9 when i was trying to duplicate it. Only Bios that has done it. F10A installed and Booted Cold first time around even when Falshing @ 4300mhz.( Dont Do that) i try wierd things sometimes to get results...I know  Even Down to the Resume from Sleep mode too. It came down to My HT/ram divider and what HTT was being used..Although im on a differnt OS than him , i still came up with same/simalar results...
After seeing the Coldboot issue still present with 10A on His ,,
Mine is Not unless i choose to make it happen.
So Lets start from Scratch,,
Could be as simple as setting defaults slowly raising volts till every thing works on cold booting. Then Raise the CPUX divider one step at a time untill
it does it again.. You keep doing this for evey thing that can be changed to OC the Chip such as the HT/HTT settings . Id start with Stock on the 1066 or 800 divider .
Slowly bump things up except for the ram..( help rule out the ram)
Ive found when the HT isnt Stable you can simulate this Cold boot problem on the Mobo..It may even Take Two times to power on..Sometime you need to turn of PSU too and even do a CMOS clear. Even More so Sometimes you cant get in on the BIos the First time around,( that really gets to me with the F9 ,when i first tried it. I also Run Raid and i can make it do it with a single Sata too...
Only Thing i dont have is a Cheapo IDE HD..
Usually this makes Overclocking easier and isnt so much affected by HTT/HT as much as Sata or Raid.
Well get it worked out..
I know "Wall" has a Big peacemaker of a :hammer:somewhere ,, we need to help him before he uses it :D
Ok Got Voltage:
I have no problems at all with a cold boot no matter how long the PC has been sitting. Even if I shut her down and instantly turn her back on it starts up, but restarting from Win7 or a Linux Live CD all cause the same issues and loose ACC Settings doing so. But if I turn it off via the power button and turn it right back on she is back to being an unlocked CPU.
http://brokenwall.net/pics/Computer/Bios%20Settings.jpg
thats the current settings plus the settings in BIOS. I haven't really tweaked my ram due to the issues i have been having. But once I get everything back off the ground I will just be upgrading to a Thuban 1090T and a new mobo, but that will take some time.
BrokenWallOk ...
Are you using Sata for the DVD and all HD's? I actually have a Samsung DVD SAta that refuses to load the OS if i dont have it set as Master Device in the boot menu for my optical drives.
Ill look that up later.
This will set the nb/ht the same clocks ,,what happens if you set the Multis like this:
17x @210 htt
11x HT = 2310mhz
11X NB = 2310mhz
Using the 800/divider
your ram will OC a hair but should still be stable..
Keep all voltages as they are...
Now try and load and run what you do to make the Stuff happen...Iv enoticed that in the OS under my Vista if my HT didnt like the Freqency i was running even at stock it would hang my OS when Hibernating or sometimes Lose the ACC option when set to Hybrid with Manual Cores Enabled...
With F10 i run Hybrid Auto cores All...and Keep COres 3/4 on Auto for Unlocking...Ive found that sometimes when in Manual mode it can dro the unlock too....
...setting the Above on the 11x for HT ..is usually good up to 2550 with no problems on the 800/1066 dividers..
.667 ive noticed can hang some times when using 12x 13x or 9x HT.. when i go higher HTT above 230/240 i use 7x/8x ht..
If you are using Sata Opticals try another port and see what happens too. Remeber the Boot Optical must be the one set a s primary for it to load a OS..
Anyway ..so what happens @ 2300HT/2300NB.
Im curiouse.. If 2300ht is a go ,set NB @ 2550mhz .(12x) keep HT @11x.
this will get you a little more speed with out tweaking any volts.
17x 210.....I know you settings are good ... try to get stuff to act up and let me know...
I am using IDE DVD drives and no SATA is enabled on my board at all, all my SATA Drives are running off a LSI Raid Controller.
You notice any differance in cpu performance running @ 210x17?
As for the Satas , that eliminates the Sata causing problems with SB.NB mobo chipset.
Have you tried using S1 instead of S1& S3 sleep mode.?
Sometime this can help..
By default i use S1+S3...
I know when my Bios were corrupted it took about three back to back flashes to make things stick on F9..As for F10A it Flashed first time and never dropped the Unlock unless i didnt set the Hybrid Mode after the Flash...
Come to think if it dosnt Autmatically say Firm ware is being changed After you flashed to F10A, .. The Flash may not of took 100%...or was not set to defaults afterwords..
... Ive noticed some times that if i used Auto settings or EPP it would drop the ACC unlock ...I manually set timings for all my ram on this Mobo and that helps alot for stability too.
Last ,
Do you have another OS like Vista or XP32bit or Win732bit that could be tried ona single drive?
I used to run Win7 32bit on this Mobo and it dosnt have theat problem ! If it didnt have that problem..Maybe its a 64bit driver for ACPI function...Thats the only other thing i can think of ATM.
CnQ is turned of to right? Its all a big crap shoot..Something needs to work..
ill post some screens of my Bios So you can see what i have set. For Volts and so forth.
I never use CnQ and do not let my PC sleep or Hibernate, its a desktop that has to be on 24/7. Sleep and Hibernate are for laptops. so the issue is only during restarts. I haven't been able to test any new Bios settings. Its the Euro open right now have to pay attention
Unstand completely......
My Bios is set to S3 and the new F10A goes Above 270htt now with Xfour cores..the F9 stopped at 269 and would give AHCI errors when pushing HTT..
So at least therea a good thing going with higher HTT on this Mobo ..
4200mhz with 269 was the most i could get stable before crashing Raid lol.
4300+ with 270+ now is nice at least.
(you must raise the SB and NB chipset volts some to do so)
This Mobo isnt know for High HTT so 270 is pushing it in terms of what it can do with any Bios.
790X UD4P F10A Bios and 4300mhz 555 @ X4cores
Screen shots of F10 Bios and the Volts i use.
SB is 1.3v and NB chipset is 1.2v 24/7.

Double check these settings ..What i use for Win7/Vista32..
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...iosUD4P004.jpg
Notice my temp and CPU volts@4300mhz... This is 24/7 on Ambiant water.

Your screenshots showing voltages truly support your nickname....
What ram do you have @ 2.3V ?
Not the New ONEs there First Gen Viper 9600's by Patriot(MADE IN USA)..Old D9's..there great...
The DDR2/DDR3 IMC handle 2.3 volt sticks easy...
Update........290htt is my new Max with F10A....
Can probally sqeeze some more, as reality sets in ,this Mobo isnt the One to push for that. ..
No Complaints here..F10A look the same as F9 so that makes setting stuff the same.
For starters F9 @270htt was not at all stable and could not even keep My bios from getting Corrupted when running Raid on Sata..
F10A @290htt and the ability to use Higher/lower TRFC on the same Ram now with out crashing is a nice improvement..
Seems this Bios is more Optimized for Ram with a slightly higher HTT limit..
Both go hand in hand , so this dosnt surprize me...
Also My lowest stable CPUx multi can now go lower and use of all Ram dividers is nice to0. F9 was around 13x/12.5xCPU using 8xHT or less. That has now changed as well .....I can use 11x and lower CPU multi and all ram dividers with out seeing stuff like 3900mhz when its set to 3400mhz and so forth..

By all means ,,
F10A is the new TOP BIOS. Even if you don tplan on running a new X6... Its not so easy to tweak , For use of High HTT but its by far the best one yet.
I dont have a x6 so i dont know if it has the Core throttle Option or if its hidden.....hm I need something else i can unlock and torture.
Thats a real plus .
The option of Core disable anhd Hybrid is very good news when using Thurban.. Especially for what i want to do down the road...
Im really liking this Mobo a lot..It may not the best for High HTT . It simply unlocks with stability and that is what counts for me ATM.
Somehow I think I may have killed my Super Talent SSD......very odd. I will have to investigate some more tomorrow morning.
Funny you should say that because my 550BE actually unlocked and the board gradually started crapping out until it wouldn't boot into Windows properly anymore. :p:
Ah well, maybe I just got a bad chip. Either way, I've got an X6 now so I guess it doesn't really matter anymore.
For me 300HTT 24/7, with two tested chips ; unlocked sempron 140 and 555be also unlocked to X4. Not to mouch tweaking for this, not funny is mobo cannot go more than 340HTT on ln2 :(
The HTT can vary a lot from each Mobo made. Not all are equal especially chips.
Both the Mobo and CPU muct be up to the task...My Mobo is weaker than other UD4P's that ive set up for Friends...My M3A79T clocks all my X2/X4's above 300htt Easily when compared. This is using the Same cooling to rule out if a CPU not cold enuff...
As for a CPU slowly going down Hill,, Add more Volts to the Vcore for the Same clock you were allways at..If it helps and becomes stable is most likely CPU losing its gradability.(degradation).Some cases it can be that Mobo's PWM's may be getting weak after prolonged use and not keeping Things stable when booting.
Theres so many factors involved as we venture to install unlocked chips . This alone is a 50/50 chance the Mobo and Chip is up to it. If the CPU unlocks and the NB dosnt go above 2600mhz with 1.3v on the NBvid , It most likely is a weak CPU IMC.. If one has a spare DDR3 mobo, that unlocks ,, you would then test that same CHip again.. If it unlocks and is 100% stable you have a weak Mobo or DDR2 IMC but the DDR3 IMC would remain strong.
In all the simple of things just takes a little tweaking to find out.
If you Try X4 Air/Watter @4300mhz @300HTT... Its not so easy( at least what ive seen)..The extra CPU load and use of Onboard SB750(Sata Raid 0) makes it a little Harder.
I keep my HTT down around 220 or so for 24/7 on this Mobo for reliability reasons. I know its not the best Clocker and some Mobo's will die real fast when pushed up to much.
gOtVolTage
Bummer,,
I know that feeling Beep:mad:
Sometimes High HTT will take out the Lan first or other I/O's... Then all else will go down hill from there. If you Catch it in time it can live a happy life with around stock HTT.. This goes for any Mobo...
Ive read numerouse threads on ( Ive lost my lan or my Mouse is allways stuck and the Best( No KeyBoard) at boot up)) All of which happened when the OC on the HTT went downhill.
Ive Toasted a few My self, Nothing like giving Mobo CPR at 3am:rofl:
Is it possible for high HTT to take out my SSD? Or did it get messed up due to too many quick shutdowns?
I have the MA790XT-UD4P and was planning on getting a 1055T soon here. I upgraded to the BIOS F8C and I get random BSOD's that I can't really explain. Finally I flashed back to F7 and the problem went away. Anyone else have this experience? I wanted to get one of these X6's but need a board that can run it. So far the UD4P and my M3A79T Deluxe are not getting official love :(
I can't seem to get anything stable at 300HTT anymore...I have a feeling my board is dying, since it already took out my SSD.
Yes It can hurt SSD,,
It can wipe out anything connected on any of the I/O's ,,Lan,,SB/NBchipset_Sata ports and even USB devices/drives..
HTT is the Heart of All Things....It fails everything fails.
When things get corrupted your OS You may be@ the HTT limits . Sometimes you may not have used Enuff SBVolts to keep it Stable @higher Freqency.
AMD Chipsets really get Hot ,especially going above 325/350HTT with fans and New paste on them.
Note: When things go south.
"U"Win a Corrupt OS or Raid...If your really luckY"U"Fry things like KFC.
nm, lol Windows 7 installed the wrong drivers for my LAN port
UD4P XT and X use the Same Lan Same Driver Vista Win7
Windows update WILL DISABLE THE Lan Driver After it updates it with the Wrong Version lol.
You need to get The Lan Driver from Gigabyte or use the One from the Install CD only for 790X DDR2/ 790XT DDR3 UD4P ..
That's what I used before, somehow it automatically installed or something, lol. Probably from all the times my system froze during stress testing. Anyways, currently stable 13.5x300 4.05GHz / 2.7GHz 1.424vcore (fluctuates to 1.44v sometimes)......why do I get the feeling my G. Skill Ecos aren't that great (swapped back my OCZ Gold DDR3s back in)
Wish my DDR2 Ran @1600mhz:D Those Golds are good bang for buck. I grab em for all my friends when they setup new rigs and or usually Patriot when i cant get Golds for em.
I buy DDR3 just not for Me:mad:...Im so content with DDR2 ive been playing with Cas4 @1T on this Mobo For kicks again and again:rofl:
I got some very good OCZ Gold sticks PC3-8500....got em from Amazon for like $43 or something January '09. They run 1600 7-7-7-19-11-1T 5,7,5,5 1.75vdimm or 1333 6-6-6-17-11-1T 4,5,4,4 1.7vdimm. Truly bang for the buck. Crazy how my G. Skills cost 3 times as much, at less performance (eBay e-bucks burning a hole, had to use em before they expired). The 790XT-UD4P can't even go lower than 1.6vdimm, when the Ecos supposedly run @ 1.35vdimm, bah.
Hey guys need some help! I'm trying to get a 550 unlocked and stable but having issues with a core. First the CPU unlocks to a quad and boots, no freezing or crashes. However, almost every program crashes to the desktop. I ran Prime95 and core 2 fails immediately. So, I'm trying to figure out how do disable that core but i'm not given that option in the bios. Only option is core 2 and 3, which I've disabled both with no luck.
