They are spec. at 2.3v (PVS22G9600ELK)... the Ram List at i4memory doesn't list the Viper PC2-9600 just the PC2-9200.
I was also able to run my Kingston HyperX PC2-9200 (spec. 2.35v KHX9200D2K2/2GR) on my Gigabyte UD3P at 500fsb 5/6 divider DDR2-1200 with around 2.1v.
sure brag alot about how many memory sticks you have
I got my Dominator PC2-8500's back from RMA and they are version 5.1.
I had a look and they weren't listed.
Good? Bad?
I'll do some overclocking tomorrow :)
well i like d9 i cant seem to wanna sell any of my ram
i tryin but i just cant give em up:rofl:
and i keep buyin more:eek:
i got 30+ gigs of ddr2:rofl: n i want more
got a set of dominator 8500 1.2 last week and they were pure crap couldnt go over 1200 stable even with 2.4v i will be bringin em back to the shop soon
i wanted to add them to my d9 collection but 80$ for a crap set no ty
well i have some xtreem teams 10400 1300s for sale if you want to add to your collection ?:D
Anyway is version 5.1v good?
My D9 GKX do 1206MHz @ 2.1v in BIOS, boot even @ 2.0v and everything seems stable. Will mess around with them more when I can but I'll have to start messing with skews.
I decided to try out my Kingston HyperX PC2-9200 D9 GKX to see if I could also run them at DDR2-1200 with low volts... I left all the voltages at stock settings and ran 7x500 with 5/6 divider. The DDR voltage on the UT was 1.91v!
Very nice voltage for that speed, one of the lowest I have ever seen. Very good ram indeed.
PolRoger
Nice ram, mate
I swapped in my set of Patriot Viper and they appear to run at the same settings as well.
I think the motherboard and the 333 latch 5/6 divider is a big factor. My UD3P also seems to have a compatible 333 5/6 divider with my D9 GKX sticks.
I will note however that I haven't had much luck running the Viper or the HyperX at high speeds (with any divider) on my Biostar boards.
Anyone here have SPD dump of Team Xtreem DDR 2 1066 CL5?I would need it for just in case scenario.
I was checking out your sig and it got me thinking... and I thought why not... so I installed the HyperX in dimm 1+3 and the Viper in dimm 2+4 changed the multi to 8 and set cpu vcore to 1.25v shows 1.21v in bios. All the other voltages were left at stock. I was running prime blend when I took the screenshot. CPU vcore was mostly at 1.20v while running under load sometimes dipping to 1.184/1.9v.
Wow! Unbelievable! It seems DFI rocks. 500 FSB at 1,12 vNb and 1,91 vDimm.
Well, Smart Guardian tends to report VDIMM as being lower than the actual voltage, at least with the LT/UT P35 boards.
the best micron D9 ever had are Cellshock 8500 black for me
i could achieve
700Mhz

westsider
Very good results. Did you have "Red Devils" ? I think they are a little better than your 8500.
i have tried red devils and they get better timings
but for Max Takt blacks are better
GKX timing vs GMH clock
PolRoger - It would make a lot more sense if the DFI voltage software is under-reporting the voltages, I have a hard time believing the ram or the NB for that matter would be stable at those speeds & PL. Any chance you can measure the real vdimm with a DMM please?
westsider - nice work, what voltages were used for each setting. Also your link for 32M CL3 is missing.
http://www.pic-upload.de/thumb/10.09.08/hiyn3e.jpg
i am sorry for my mistake
it was a long time ago
it was 1M test
Cryptik- I will try... I have a DMM but I'm not sure where I would take the readings on the board?
However, I think the readings might be correct. The actual readings in the BIOS seem to match up with what is being reported in the ITE software in windows.
BTW: I've been testing my Powerchip IC Reapers... using the same 333/800 divider and similar low voltages... so far I've managed 8.5x470 DDR2-1129
with my 4GB kit of PC2-8500 at 1.95v and 8x500 DDR2-1200 with my 2GB kit of PC2-9200 at 2.0v. VTT and MCH/NB were both at default.
Here is a photo of my BIOS voltage screen for my current 8.5x470 DDR2-1129 overclock
Hi guys, I'd like to do some DDR2 Benches in the next months - so I may need another Board and some Kits for 3V+ around x-mas time.
I'd just like to know if there are any special boards going extraordinary well with Micron D9GMH and D9GKX.
I actually have a DFI UT-P35-T2R , but it's not working that good with my G.Skill PC2-8000GBHZ (D9GKX) and with the Supertalent PC2-8000 (D9GKX) either.
I already had another DFI UT-P35-T2R some time ago combinated with a Crucial 2x512Mb PC2-8000 Kit and could easily run DDR2-1000 3-4-3-4 @ 2.6V through SuperPi 32M.
Now I see no chances to hit 700Mhz CPU-Z stable with the G.Skill / Supertalent - so I'd like to try another Board, because the G.Skills are pretested on 685Mhz 5-6-6-18 @ 2.53V Pi 1M .
My Asus P5Q Pro with 703m work fantastic with my D9 GKX, boots 1300MHz @ 2.2v.
Would it suit me fine to search for DDR2 that does high speeds like 1066mhz or greater at nice timings & low volt specs? like 1150mhz / 5 5 5 15 / 1.9v ?
Or is there a particular brand / make / model to purchase to guarantee high overclocks? I'm looking for ~600mhz or more at ~2.1v.
Which brand & model do you fellas recommend? I was looking at a 2x1GB kit of OCZ HPC Reaper PC2-9600
jaredpace
CellShock "Red Devil"
I have 2 kits. I run 1200MHz, Pl=8 for 24/7 usage at 2,06Vdimm
500 MHz (DDR2-1000) CL4 @ 2.1v totally stable. 600 MHz (DDR2-1200) CL5 @ 2.06v totally stable.
240MHz is DDR2-480MHz, that is worse than DDR1 speeds, and you would have to be underclocking the FSB to achieve that. Are we on the same page here? What is your cpu FSB set to?
CryptiK- I posted some of my results in the "UT Banter" thread and C-N replied with this concerning dimm voltage...
"@ PolRoger forgot to mention the board overvolts the RAM slightly .05v on my DMM, also the Prime shot shows 48~56k try custom 4096 for an hour rather than small fft's that just test the CPU cache."
Yeah right I missed tha fact he had an AND cpu. Not sure what the issue could be then, as I have next to no experience with AMD systems (other than the old Athlon XP's etc).
I want these girls :D JNL seems to be the best for me.
what does PL8 mean?
Well I've got my new Cellshock PC2-8000 4-4-4-12 RAM and so far it seems pretty good. I have to say though its not taking me much higher than the GMH AxeRam ive been using, in fact it needs more voltage for the same speeds so far. I'm using Ket's 1306m BIOS for the P5Q Pro but Ket recommends using the 703m ior 704m BIOS with GKH D9s. Does anyone have a copy of this version or a working link for it? I've been trying to get them from his megaupload sites and the links haven't been working.
i got my PC8000 mushkin redlines 2x1 today gonna have fun this weekend (also got my maximusII formula replacement) cant wait!
I'm getting my first microns tomorrow. A little late but heck at least i got some after all. I'm really excited to see what they can do especially since they seem to scale so good with more voltage to get more bandwidth
i will still use my old OCZ coolers
http://www.abload.de/thumb/11112008080gobz.jpg
but im gonna spray em black tomorrow and instead of the OCZ logo i will make a micron sticker and put in there.
http://www.abload.de/thumb/13112008081kopj.jpg
those OCZ coolers are actually really affective
I no
might seem a very noob question...however
I want to get some 2g module DDR2 Micron D9 rams so I looked up in the ramlist site but I get bit confused.
since there are several which are D9 but they differ as for their revs and year
I wonder which one is a 2 gig Micron D9 module 100% if I buy them now in the market....
where can i get them? and which one is a 100% D9?
ps: where can i get the older revs of rams? any sites? if its inconvenient to post the site in the thread pls pm the the sites where I can get a 100% 2 gig D9 Modules
ps2: is the mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit D9 module 100% it does not say redline but the heatsink is :)(in newegg)
There are no 2GB D9 GMH/GKX modules. A D9 IC is 64MB, and you can fit 16 of them on a module, such that 16 x 64MB = 1024MB, giving the maximum size of 1GB per module.
I guess this is sort of related, i do have d9s:) do i have to pass prime 95 or orthos to be considered stable ? i can pass super pi 32m but no matter what i do , i cannot pass prime 95 like 10 mins in it fails everytime ? its driving me nuts:shrug:
Well yes, you should be able to do anything on your computer without errors. I'm not going into the 'whats the definition of stable' explanation as everyone differs on this issue.
Gat some OCZ Flex 9200 (gmh) and euh seam to by litlle pushy : don't want any voltage higher than 2,2v, is that norrmal ?
They just refuses to boot than ! Even @533 ain't stable ! Best I've found on 680i is @450 4/4/4/12/16 1T for 2,2v (8x450)
but the rig gat some issues on game (freezes, not realy at bench ;))
And at all the Expert mod of SLI tuning doesn't work (no reeboot) like wit tha crucials which are pretty well responding
Do someone have any feedback bout this kit of 2x1gb ? (or may be my old bios 1205 isn't compatible...? )
dudes i just got my 4GB of microns. One Question: since the microns need a high voltage of 2,3 - 2,35 i wondering if the dram ref values and the Northbridge Ram ref value stay a 0.9v or do i have to up them also?
I'm using a Gigabyte P45 UD3P
http://forum.coolaler.com/showthread.php?t=194358
It looks like Team Xtreem D9-based stuff is still readily available in Asia
OCZ is using Powerchips on these Modules now, so if you bought them as "new" at a retailer shop the chance to have PSC oder Promos is very very high.
The results would fit there, too.
@Don Dan
He said "got my 4GB of Micron" - i think he means 4x1GB ;) .
Or he got a Mushkin 4GB HP2-6400 / 4GB XP2-6400 / 4GB XP2-8500 Kit of the very first revisions with D9GSV.
I made some nice pics and i'm just testing the ram i will post something really nice later. so far in direct compare to the infineon chips used on the OCZ 9200 the microns always perform better with the same settings. But atm i can't clock them as high as i want to. More later...
Some preliminary results with my new Ballistix Tracer 8500 16FD3 kit. VDIMM was set to 2.02V in the BIOS :up:
Hey Shiranui - Have you beena able to vefiy what chips your new Ballistixs are running? I just recently got back into DDR2 so I've been away for some time. However I've read in a few different places that the new Ballistix are not running D9's anymore, any truth to this that you know of? Given your 600Mhz run with only 1.96v I doubt it? Thanks for any help you can give!
Mine are old style double-sided Ballistix, 100% D9. The real voltage is probably more like 2.05V rather than 1.96 as Smart Guardian underreports VDIMM.
I'm still testing my rams. First i couldn't get them stable above 600 MHz now im runnig them @ 630 MHz with a tight tRD of 6 and i think i still got room for more.
I love Microns. Next week i definatly going to buy another cs kit with the D9GKX or how they are called. Both my sets now have D9GMH underneath. The CS by default and i looked under the Mushkin Heatspreader myself cuz i removed it for my own cooling solution.
And yeah i noticed Microns really get a lot hotter than Infineon Chips. I have a temp sensor on the pcb between to chips and w/o cooling they reach 50 degrees easily. With decent cooling they only get to 29 degrees which i think i can lower even more after my testing when i put the ram under water.
couldn't resist longer. This was the last kit available in any online shop here in Germany so i better got it before any of you suckas did:
2048MB-KIT Cellshock PC8000/1000,CL 4
Nr. 20SK58 52,00 € 1 52,00 €
GKX are on the way. Already paid and i'm sure there here on tuesday. This means i have now 6GB of Microns which i purchased within' 3 days. If anyone wants 2 GB's i think i'm willing to get rid of one the 2GB kits of D9GMH.
Are the Flex II series 4gb 9200 Micron D9's? and if so, would you consider them over the NEW crosshair dominators? (4gb set, 2x2gb).
YAY I just found out my Corsair Dominator PC2-9136's are D9's :D
This is what I had them doing before (before I knew they were D9's - yeah i know CL6 sucks). Thats 2.36v (windows). I didn't want to push it further cause i read somewhere that non D9's die easy
from overvolting.
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/m...1-16120528.png
Also I don't have to worry about the temps - 133CFM Scythe Ultra Kaze :D:p:.
Later today i'll try for better timming.
Here are a pair of my Crucial Ballistix PC2-8000 "16FD3" Im using 2.15 volts

Elektrosadist whats that program showing your ram temp? I want one.
i removed the HS from the mushkin rams and replaced it with Flex WC HS that i painted black. And i put a temp sensor on the rams pcb between two chips. So give or take 3 degrees on the temp for the chips but i would say it's quite accurate.
Thx i'll give it ago when I get some Cellshock ram - dam I thought i could download it :(
It looks like this thermal monitoring system

I just did some more ram overclocking
I got 1333MHz @ 5-5-4-15
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/m...1-17011049.png
That was with 2.56v.
how much for a lazer gun?
Nice RAM, good job Elektrosadist
i'm still not there where i want to be. I'm really looking forward to the GKX chips i hope i can do 1300 MHz with them.
also, does any1 know where to find the thread about Fugger DDR2 Record at ddr2 1508? Gigabyte is just offering a competition and since i got 6 GB of Microns now i thought i might enter the competition and wreck one of my kits but i want to read a little what fugger did for that specially the voltages or the performance level he used and so on yadi yadi ya ...
I have to give my sticks 2.5V+ for DDR2-1300, I don't know how these other guys are doing it with less than 2.4V.
nc :D :ROTF:
http://kleb.dundee-mr.de/bilder/cell...1000erC4_1.jpg
i bought the last kit available here in germany for 52 bucks. will arrive tomorrow. Dunno if you can still get them in the states. But i'm really excited to see how the GKX perform.
With all the high-end kits I have, and the boards I have (I have a DFI LT P35-T2R for Pete's sake!) you'd think at least one of them could do 650MHz+ without killing them with VDIMM...
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=447895
crappy strap for bandwidth. even tho its at tRD 6. it also boots with that but for safe keeping i boot up with tRD 8.

Electrosadist, sorry but your results are bugged, as you are using the 3:5 divider on the P45 chipset. The real divider is actually 2:3, so the real ram speed is DDR2 - 1263.
Elektrosadist
Huge Mhz, great PL but memory brandwidth is very very poor. I have 11000 Read at 600 Mhz and PL=8.
Waterflex, how much fsb ? and what divider you using to get 11,000 at 1200mgz ?. Cause im pulling 475fsb, ddr2 1260, pl 7 and only pulling 10,000 everest.
One question, does increasing PL make the RAM faster?
I just did my own quick test, i got a 150+ MB/s increase by dropping it from 8 to 7.
yes the lower the PL, the better performance you will get out of your memory.
Thats why im curious how he is getting 11,000 in everest with pl 8, he must be overclocking his cpu and fsb big time.
11k is so easy with the right setup
try doin 12k with intell n ddr2
this my 24/7 on power save on gskills n d9 gets better
Very nice scores, what PL are you running on those runs ?
