Anyone knows, if these board supports the Tuniq Tower 120?
Thank's
I'm having an odd problem with my overclock so far. I have an E3110 and anything over 1.26v to the cpu and it refuses to boot. I'm stable at 4 gigs right now at 1.25v and i guess what's weird about it is if i try 1.27v at the same speed, 4 gigs, it doesn't boot. I've went up to 1.35v just to see if that solves the problem and the same thing is happening. I could understand if i've hit the chips limit but being picky about volts is odd.
I have everything in the bios stock other than the cpu and ram volts. I did disable all the chip extra such as vm technology and whatnot.
Any advise?
E3110
G.SKILL 8500 2x2
TRUE
stock NB cooler.
I just got my DFI X48 and 4gig of of OCZ Reaperx and Q9450 from tank guys I am having alot of issues getting this to overclock. Anyone have some setting I can start with ? 3.2 is all I can get so far.. there are so many setting in the bios
what is everyone running for NB volts and CPU VTT
Thanks !
Besides the MIPS block, is anyone aware of a waterblock that is compatible with this board for the MOSFET?
Alternatively, if someone could provide the mounting hole spacing measurement for the MOSFET heatsink it would be a big help as well.
Thanks!
The first pic i ran last night and it was stable when testing just the cpu and the second image is of the blend i did that failed this morning. Another odd thing is when the computer will not boot up after up'n the volts it comes on for about 1-1.5 seconds and then shuts off. I have to clear the CMOS as its not able to restart itself and the hotkeys for bios load don't work. Ugh i'm having problems heh

I haven't tried that but i guess it's worth a shot.
Waiting for the DDR3 version and then letting a month or so pass for BIOS maturity is the hot scoop.
To get maximum overclock, which is the best DFI board to get between these 3?
DFI LP UT P35-T2R
DFI LP LT X38-T2R or
DFI LP LT X48-T2R?
I was asking especially for a QX9650 CPU and 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR1000
Cant tell you hand on heart as I've never had a 45nm quad but I'm sure someone will chip in & help you out.
What I can tell you is all the boards will do 500fsb easy so you wont run out of 45nm quad fsb headroom (the CPU will give up before the board) & all of the boards will clock 4 x 1gb sticks past 1100mhz easy too.
CN :)
Got a pretty good 32M time with an E2160. :) (This E2160 is good up to 3.8GHz with air cooling)

There are only two possibilities:
- MIPS Freezer
- Watercool HeatKiller SW-16
But neither are easy to get a hold on here is US.
So everybody interested in getting the MIPS and split shipping sign in here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=182949
If you are referring to upping the vcore volt me and other 2 ppl reported the same issue. Tried different PSU's in stock settings and when volts get near some marging the mobo will not post properly anymore.
Turns ON then shuts off after 1-1.5secs...
Not heat issues so i guess i was awarded with a 2nd DFI RMA
Could you possibly link the post you're referring to? My cpu vid cutoff is right at 1.3 and i've tried up to 1.45 just for the hell of it with no luck. I have however finally got the INSERT key to reset my CMOS when this happens but it takes 1-3 times of me pushing the power button on/off and holding the key down for it to take. I've reported this issue on the dfi forums as well and i see someone else has the same problem as us. I did notice in his signature that he had an E3110 like me but i could be jumping to conclusions =)
So to sum this up for myself, and a few other people, are these the best recommendation for coolers (air) to use on this board?
CPU - TRUE
NB - Thermalright HR-05 SLI
SB - Enzotech SLF-1
Thanks for the input!
I just noticed something that struck me as odd:
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4549/tempsoffxm4.jpg
I appreciate your input zsamz_,I will not change the NB cooler after hearing this stuff.I am now looking for a PWM cooler and a SB cooler.Any recommendations? The CPU cooler will be a TR Ultra Extreme.
SO guys, for the DDR2 range from DFI, the DFI X48 UT T2R will be the most dominate one?
No problem, but the orientation is only one way. Having it in a case with the fan blowing to the rear is a no go

Is there at least someone having the DFI X48 setup in a case?
Mips blocks arrived this moring for my board, now i have just got to buy it :D
Packed well.

I got a Q9450 from Tank guys as well but it's defective...one of the cores keeps on crashing when I stress it...this is all at stock speeds and volts...I've sent them an E-Mail about it and they seem to be ignoring me. The temps on this CPu are all over the place too...I see it idle at 27c sometimes and then at other times it's idling at 46c.
Ace76, Mine is the same way at Stock mine Crashes also, they are RMA mine, but what sucks is I have to send it back to them then they are going to send it to Intel and so 3-4 weeks with no CPU this is my last time buying from them
zsamz, I bought it from tankguys, basically I have to send my cpu to them, then they RMA to Intel
not very impressed with there Customer Services ..
I'm still having issues with my board when applying more than 1.26v to the proc. The thing just shuts down and refuses to reboot. I hope they figure this problem out soon because it's really tainting my opinion of this board.
If anyone else is having this issue you might wanna stop by and check out the thread here: http://csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6175
Here is also a video that someone posted on how the board acts when this happens: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=260fp8i&s=3
ooo-kay guys. I just ordered this board to replace my crappy nvidia 650i board. Last DFI board I owned was the nf4 SLI-DR, that thing was a :banana::banana::banana::banana: to work with. Hope they've improved from those days :)
How much all those blocks run you clone38? They look nice..
I'd try the cpu on a motherboard other than the DFI X48 before doing the RMA. I think there is some strange incompatability going on. When I put my E6600 in the board it goes straight to FSB 500 no sweat. Put the Q9450 I got from Tankguys in and I struggle to get to FSB 400. Multies at 6x on both. Be a shame to return the CPU and find it ok.
Thanks!
Well I saw some guys complaining about hiegher temps after doing this (PWM reinstallation) on the X38 thread. Dunno if this is something solved...
I will buy the Watercool Heatkiller I have a report from Dimek that the MIPS has a 'tiny' project fault: they made the thing with a extra surface to 'try' to cool the CPL's also  and that made the temps fly in the sky. So if you use Mips for Mosfets you better off with nothing or using a diferent loop for that.
The Watercool looks like this:
http://i25.tinypic.com/34px5cw.jpg
It costs EU29,99 +(tax) and was made exclusively for the X38, X48 and P35 version so it wont touch the CPL's...
if u dont have a backplate for your spu when u redo the paste then u will get higher temps, if u have a good backplate then u wont get bowing so u wont have anything to worry about
Maybe you right - backplate would be nice, but IMHO it will not solve MIPS's "CPLs problem"... It does not refer to Watercool Heatkiller as it does not cover CPLs...
I didn't say MIPS is bad, but - I had quite high PWM temps using Quad@3,6GHz/1,45Vcore - with E8500@4GHz/1,37Vcore is ~20oC temperature drop at PWMs).
Don't know if TX-2 is 100% nonconductive but it is suspicious if it's grey and is compared to AS5. You'll need something nonconductive since there are LOTS of bare metal protrusions around this area, sorry for the technical terms:D . I only put paste on the the chips that were previously covered. My thought process was that the HS didn't appear to touch anything else, so why bother. If someone can confirm that it actually does touch some of the other chips under there, i'd redo it.
but what is better AS5, TX-2 or ZM-STG1 the last one is easy to apply :)
so is better don't put heatsinks on CPL chips
No they are excellent but I wouldn't use the Mosfet Freezer in the same loop as the CPU (if it's a hot 65nm cpu or you planning to run it extreme oc style).
It has an extra spacer that cover the CPL's (2 big chips next to the PWM area).
And those things really are supposed to get hot.
But unfortunately for us in US Mips is the only option for water cooling that area. Watercool won't ship o US :(
I think it's ok to cool them with a heatsink (but dunno if you would benefit in doing that because they are made to endure the heat), I only don't like the idea of a watercoolling block touch that area too.
http://i29.tinypic.com/11ion7a.jpg
somebody knows the measurement exact of this area ?
http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/3...tcoolerdu6.jpg
http://www.microcool.it/immagini/ChipSinkprod.jpg
I'm thinkin' put of these microcool heatsinks in cpl chips 'n this area of cooler to help to cool the pwm chips !
this mofset cooler as not cooling Very well?, maybe need a buy better mofset cooling? or stock its engood?
i find the 3dmark06 scores for this board simply amazing
basically
maximus 3800mhz 400x9.5 = 3482
this board 3800mhz 400x9.5 = 3515
tested it 3 times.. and always get the same result..
on vista ultimate sp1 64bit.
Hi all ive just got my dfi lt x48 up and running and would like to know if these temps are ok for my system running with the settings in my sig.
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...ls07/temps.jpg
Also is the system temp the pwm temps???
Cheers Paul
Well i guess it is as ive just put a fan over it and its now @ 39
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...ls07/temp2.jpg
yes the system temp is the pwm temp
How is everyone getting active cooling to their PWM block, besides water? I have the TRUE so space is somewhat limited but i'd like to get some airflow through there. It's not hot down there but every little bit helps.

I think my board is toast. The code on the LCDs is 88 and never changes at all. I've tried the EZ cmos clear and tried to manually do it with the jumper about 10 x now and nothing.
I'm one of the few that is not able to get the board to post with more than 1.26v to the cpu and this is with different cpus mind you. I thought to myself maybe there's a dead spot or something so i turned it up to 1.4 in the bios and it hasn't booted since.
sigh...
pnot , Send me a PM I know how to fix that Issue.. I had the same problem
Here are some pics of my system and the small fans i put on the pwm`s.
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...7/P1010721.jpg
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...7/P1010723.jpg
And my pwm temps are now at 37 idle

hi guys, I ordered this mobo (LT version) which should arrive any day plus I bought already the CPU which is an Intel Q9450, my question is which brand/model of RAM do you suggest me to buy since my plan is to go for 8GB RAM, and I am willing to OC the cpu aswell, any tips is welcome, thanks in advance.
Hey all, I have a P35 T2R, and tbh im pretty happy with it, but ive seen these (LT version) pretty cheap, and seeing as I always love new hardware to fiddle with i just wanted to know how they compare?
Is it worth giving it a shot. It should cost me too much after selling my P35. Also, seeing as I'd be getting the LT version, I may well watercool the NB. Would an MCW30 fit on there ok?
Thanks Wilson, are those 25's or 30's? How exactly are they attatched? I see the black zipties holding the inside ends together and the white ones with the female end sticking out. Did you use another female end to cinch it up on the back side of the case?

Here's mine with the DangerDen MPC Universal, temps never higher then 34oC (Prime95) on full load 4000Mhz Quad (inside a closed case):

Can I get a definitive clarification on the temp readings in SG? Chipset=NB or SB and System temp=PWM or a sensor near there?
Axis
Ive just read this on another post.
"The CPL-4-50 has an operating temperature of 125C."
Can anybody back this up?
The multiphase inductors are rated for a maximum operating temperature of 125C. However, all specification are given at temperature of 25C. As the temperature increases DCR and inductance changes. As these are manufactured specifically for use with Volterra devices there isn't much data available relating to the change of specs to temperature.
They aint that bad and you can always slow them down to run at 60% . I have mine at full speed and dont hear to much of a whine as i have other fans in the background.
@Jor3|BR
If you looking for watercool products ----> Link to freezinghardware
They have watercool products or they can order it and perhaps they will ship to usa! ;)
It´s a friend from me! :)
Really exited, my watercooling is all up and running... along with first build with this mobo!
Boots first time :D
Instaling Vista as we speak :D
Looking to get minmum 400x9 24/7 stable on my Q6600
Ideally 450x8!!
Or even 500x8 if the board can handle it!?
Jor3lBR how is your Q6600 doing @4.0Ghz and could you post your volt setting pls as i may give mine a go .
And how are you running it with 9 or 8 multi.
Cheers Paul
just installed mine the other day , its all ready to go . now its time to learn abit about overclocking.
i have overclocked before on an older gigabyte board, but this bios is a little more complicated. does anyone know of a template for this board? just to get an idea of what to set voltages etc to . not to cpy just to get an idea .i know i should be looking at noob guides etc and i am. but in the meantime if anyone knows of any particulary with a dual core, that would be great. im aiming for a 24/7 500fsb /1200mhz memory or atleast 450fsb.
Did anyone tryed successfully install 8 GB RAM in this board as is the configuration I am willing to go for, please indicate me which brand and model of RAM you suggest me to go for.
can someone show some results on Q6600 @ OC im planning to one of those
Hi all got my board on yesterday my aim Q6600 @ 3600Mhz 24/7 stable!!
To get it prime stable for at least 1 hour!
Q6600 @ 450x8
Vcore - 1.42V (Will vary depending on your chip)
FSB VTT- 1.45V (SG*)
V NB - 1.45V (SG*)
GTL Enabled all left @ 110
All other voltage setting left @ defult
Now in the CPU options disabled EST thermal managment etc bar the multipul thread option!
Temps
65C Loaded all 4 cores
70C PVM
55C NB
Baring in mind i have 2x2GB RAM so NB volts for 2x1GB will likely not need so high NB volts!
Key
(SG*) Smart Guardian readout
Hello
How far has anyone pushed memory speed with 2x2gb memory? I'm running Gskill 2x2gb ddr2 1066 and I can't seem to get anything over 1100mhz to run stable. Would 4x1gb modules have a better chance of being pushed more?
PnoT, did you ever get your mobo to work? I see you are running the same memory as i am, and i couldn't get the board to even post unless i set the NB voltage to about 1.35v. I'm running an e8400 cpu though.
Just a side note, I'm watercooling and I'm using this EK block on the NB and it works nicely:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/66...?tl=g30c89s148
I have almost the same oc as you but im running at ..
3.6Ghz 400 x 9 1.4v... 1.38 in bios as i get overvolt.
NB 1.36
FSB 1.32
I also have 4gb of ram but in 4 x 1gb sticks and i am stable 24/7 in prime.
Works well with 4x2GB Geil Black Dragon PC2-6400 :D
400x9 5-5-5-15 1066mhz RAM 4x2GB 2.0v
CPU-Z Validator 2.1
http://www.pics-clunk.org.uk/dfiltx4...6Mhz-8gbSM.png
Full article here.
My board is posting again but it's very flaky on any type BIOS changes since it won't boot half the time. I also have to set my NB volts to about 1.34 to get things to run smoothly and I've got my ram at 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1v.
I fried my E3110 the other day, when i thought it was my board, so I've managed to get myself and E8400 now. I hope this cpu stabalizes better than the E3110. The second core on that thing would not run stable at 4ghz no matter what i did. What i find odd is that my boards is one of the few that has the cpu vid issue and when i fried the E3110 i had only put 1.36v into it and *poof*. That's an extremely low amount of volts to fry a chip and i can't help but think I need to RMA this board.
I have noticed something peculiar about the board so far concerning voltage. When I set the CPU voltage anywhere from 1.3875 to 1.4v in the bios, the cpu voltage measured in windows by everest remains at 1.42 v for any of those settings...perhaps there are some cpu voltage issues with this board or bios?
And Clunk, have you pushed the memory to more than 1066 (not that pushing ddr2 6400 to that speed isn't already an achievement!)?
The voltage problem isn't a problem as such. If you set the Special VID setting to it's lowest setting and not AUTO, then recalculate your voltage, that should give you the voltage that you see in CPU-Z/Everest etc.
Those Geil Black Dragon modules will only go to around 1066Mhz when using two of them, so I'm pretty sure I have maxed them out. Still, not too bad for cheap and large modules :)
damn not sure what im doing wrong .
vcore at 1.45
dram at 2.5
sb at 1.55
nb at 1.45
both gtls at 110
strap at 266/667
450fsb/1124 memory
multi on x8 =3602mhz
it boots ok and twice as fast which is really cool . but i run sandra for 3o min and it freezes up i loose time setting and date settings . in other words its not stable.
i dont understand alot of these new settings in this bios but to me it looks like i have the volts on pretty high settings, i doubt its not getting enough voltage from core ,nb and dram. am i right? is there something or things that im missing?
ok now that u have finished laughing, what strap should i use? i asked someone in another forum what strap and they said use that the 266 strap?
i told u im just learning about how straps work . im still new at this.
for 450mhz what strap should i use ? ill change it now. it keeps crashing on me when sandra stresses the ram latency and bandwidth so it must be ram related? please help? i really want to get this right. im reading as much as i can about straps but its going to take me weeks to learn all this.
Sorry man, try one of the 400 / ??? straps. It has higher latencies on the north bridge but will be a lot more stable.
It is akin to have your memory timings controlled by a predetermined group of settings. You choose the "DDR2-800" strap and it sets the memory to CL4. You choose the "DDR2-1000" strap and it sets the memory to CL5. However it does not set the actual memory speed. So you can have DDR2-1000 memory on the "DDR2-800" strap, however it will probably be unstable.
@ Adya
Depending on the capability of your ram try the 800/333 strap/divider. At 450 FSB that will put the ram at 1080MHz and put less stress on the NB.
