It makes me wanna try mine over 580+ ...again
It makes me wanna try mine over 580+ ...again
Jeez, this makes all those 1066 kits look kind of silly... Guess I will get these afterall.
Got my kit last week and it fails memtest even at 800mhz on maximus formula... guess I should rma it?
Everest reads tRFC as 52, could that be the problem? Should it be 55? But then again failing at 800mhz...
does these sticks work with a DFI P35?
right well first time back in awhile and glad to see you put me in the pic after being stuck at 933 and then getting 1170 i was well pleased. that pic is just a low one as i thought i killed the memory when it did 1200 into windows and then showed 2gb not 4gb but reinserting it back it showed 4gb again. i post some more when i can. it not crap when the memory is this cheap and it does this lol i will test for stability.
I went ahead and ordered this memory. $100 is just too good a deal to pass up. I wish it were this price when I got my current Geil 4GB DDR2-800 kit that doesn't o/c for crap.
2.2V for 24/7 is asking for trouble. Taking into account the board most probably overvolts by at least 0.05V.
Anyway, i hope some day people stop posting useless "my CPU/memory can do insane XXXX speed, stability be damned" posts and only announce carefully tested overclocks.
I did try to have my memories at 2.2 for 24/7.
I was clear. There are 2x2GB modules powerchips that boot fine at 1180 with 2.2V
that i said exactly (and they are not stable said clear again).
They might do that with 2.1V there since they boot fine at 1164MHz and pass memtest  with 2.1V already
this im sure is not common for these since most people can not do over 1100 with them it seems???
Mate what is your lowest 24/7 limit for your current setup for 2x2GB sticks?
Wanna 1020@5-5-5-15?
Get the chipest Mushkin EM2 @ 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8V @400MHz can do it
Wanna 1080+ Get PC8500 ones all of them do 540-560 for sure.
Wanna 1130+ ? Then you have little choices 1-2
Forgot to mention I'm only interested in 8GB configurations. Anybody here with 8GB and high proven OC?
By the way, anything not including Linpack 64 is not 100% proven to me, but i can accept reality :)
well im not sure since my e8500 has not arrived yet.. for now my e8400 will do i def want them to be as high as possible though so i have options open. i have yet to put this 8400 in a mobo since i do not have ram at this time i want to really wait for the 9000+ stuff but i dont want to wait much longer
Well, I spent last night tweaking again with the new p5e Bios (602) and still no improvement. Anything above 1066 fails memtest test5 but I think it's only on the second stick. Will try to swap sticks tonight and see if it's a bad stick or something up with the p5e.
UPDATE:
Swapped the sticks tonight. Now passes Memtest at 1080, fails on test #7 above that, but I'm also back to older bios (501) with less options, due to FSB problems on 602. I'll have to reflash to 602 and see if I can get higher clocks out of these.
1063MHz here stable.
Well, at 1080, I ran and passed memtest, OCCT and Prime95, but COD4 crashed several times  I backed off to 1040 and everything is back to normal.
Wow...just picked up two sets of these sticks today and I'm impressed so far.
After numerous tries to get my Redlines to 1100 MHz with no luck these booted up at 1100 on the first try!
Now to try to go further. I think I'll run into a FSB wall for this crappy CPU before the memory.
Ran memtest all night, orthos last 2 hours. Stable so far 1066 @ 2.1v.
For some reason, I got a lot of BSOD's and reboots when I first installed.
Switched to different slots (red to yellow) and no problems, very strange....
Well, as expected, with 8GB installed there's not much in the way of OC, but still, 8GB at 1005MHz is pretty cool!
Anyway, will continue to play with these.... great stuff! $119 +tax and shipping per kit...can't beat that!
Memtest86+ errors on one set of these on Test#1 no matter what speed, settings or timings, always at the same point.:( RMA?
Another good 2Gb stick... hard time to deside what to get...
What the hell????
Price has JUMPED to $150 shipped:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145
Now the same price at the 8500 kit:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166
^ I imagine the instant rebate has expired. Give it a couple of days and it will most likely return.
Welcome to Newegg's yield management! Almost as bad as buying an airline ticket.
I sent a complaint when they did this to me a couple weeks ago, bumping my cart costs more than $200 overnight. I got some canned response, and an offer of a $10 credit against my purchase (which was a bit over/under $2K -- I can't recall the total). Woot! $10! Uh, yeah...
So, I ordered from them only the stuff for which they were the absolute cheapest source, and bought the rest of the parts elsewhere, rather than buying everything from Newegg. I've spent north of $10K there in the last 8 years, and I'll be damned if I'm going to remain loyal to a vendor that jerks me this badly.
Price has dropped on the 8500 kit, now $145 with free shipping:

Enjoy are you going to do a write up on the 8500 kit at all in 2x2gb flavor?
Price of the 8000 kit back to $100...yay!

I finally got my kit and got it all setup and o/c'd last night. 500x8 on my IP35-E/wolfie 8400 combo. Stock timings for now. I could memtest @ 525FSB, but Windows is not stable at more than 500MHz. I guess that means I can tighten some timings though, which is fine by me. Running SPD timings (except tRFC raised to 55) @ stock clock 1:1 with the FSB. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Edit: am I reading the first post correctly? 5-5-3-15 timings with a performance level of 4!?
Jeez. I can't wait to try that when I get home tonight :)
One last question:
were you able to set those timings in the BIOS or did you leave everything @ SPD and set timings using memset?
I manually set 5-5-5-15 in bios and leave all subtimings to Auto.
Is it possible that changing a value in memset could corrupt my RAM? I had things running fine (pass stress-tests anyway) as high as 8.5x500, but then I started playing around with memset and now things aren't stable. I've even tried to re-install Windows and am getting errors.
I just picked these up as my ballistix died. What can I expect for timings running these 1:1 at 440 FSB? I am not the best with sub-timings, so any help would be appreciated.
You *might* get 4-4-4-12, stress might...you'll just have to give it a shot.
Who thinks the 8000 kit will drop another $5?
Memset 3.4 is showing TWR & TWTR at 18, but in the BIOS I set them at 10. Any idea what's going on, or is there another mem util I should be using?
what is this saying? run memtest test#5 with 10 successful passes? so, don't worry about running the other tests while trying to lower subtimings?
ah ok. your screenshots from page 1 seem to show it correctly. Is this because we're using different mobos with different MCH registers?
Thanks again... very helpful as always!!
Sorry, little typo there. Yes, I mean test#5 is really the fastest test to use in memtest that will show you the errors the quickest.
No, tWTR in my screen shots was under the same conditions as yours were. In reality, my tWTR was set lower than what was shown in memset, 8 iirc.
Enjoy I have my memory at 1100, with the same timings as you.
The only thing different on my setup is my "performance level" is on 6 in memset by default, and If I try to lower it to 4 like in your screenshot, instant lockup.
I read the performance level is changed depending on what you have your transaction booster setting at in the BIOS?
Was yours at 4, or did you change it?
Thanks
just ordered 2x2gb sticks for $99 :D :D
itl be paired with a e2160 and p5k-pro. heres hoping the e2160 doesnt have low fsb wall:p:
hi there i have one question:
i have asus maximus formula 1004 with G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ but when i try to set fsb higher of 266 cause error on goldmemory test with other memory not have this is problem...i have tried many setting fsb voltage 1.5 nb 1.6 trfc high 60 80...but after 40min the mem cause error... Any of you know how I can resolve? thanks very much
Try each dimm seperately to test and see if it gives errors then ... could be a DOA....
yes i try but identical error... ok i find the problem is PL it's crazy only way to work at 400fsb(1600) is at disable 7 on bios is crazy poor very poor performance not good memory... :(((
Price has dropped again!!...it's now $95 with free shipping:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145
Enjoy, any updates if you could get the 8500 sticks for a review?
Any ideas on this? I can't seem to lower the Performance level any, and am thinking the Fine Delay is too aggressive correct?

just tested them today at 550 :)
super pi 32mb passed just fine.
560 :) 2.15v
http://shrani.si/t/2J/ag/QCtdXpa/ram560.jpg
tried 565 at those settings...blue screen :)
More votage or tRFC >52
you think? i tried 2.2v trfc lover then 52?
oh man, just read all 19 pages of this thread and great review :)
the highest i can get on my mem is 540 MHz @ 5-5-5-15 with 2.0-2.1v, but i only did quick test of 5 passes of memtest test #5.
i am not too concerned about max speed, since they will be running under spec anyways. now im trying to tighten my timings.
the lowest i can go so far without memtest errors is 5-5-3-15 with trfc=55 (passed memtest #5 10 times)
i tried 2.1v, but cant go any lower.
ive also tried 5-4-3-15 and 5-4-3-20 from 2.0-2.1v, but i get errors.
my current OC right now is 9x389 on my Q6600 with mem @ 467MHz (333/800 divider)
any suggestions on how i can get the timings tighter?
thanks!
btw, i got my kit last week from newegg for $99 shipped. they dropped about $5 a couple days ago and i was a little upset, but now they are back up to $150 so i am happy again :D
5-5-4-13 is a suggested solution though for high clocks @ 5-5-5-15
the difference is not noticeable only in benchs
Yes but mostly CAS and RAS TO CAS meaning 4-4-x-x vs 5-5-x-x
i bought one kit of these, only 82€
damn they are getting cheap :)
will posts results as soon as my mobo and cpu are in
This is what I am able to get out of my G-Skill DDR2 PC8500 2X 2Gb kit
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...ntsettings.jpg
I don't know what the statis tread phaze adjust means in my bios though,,?
tRFC is very tight try 47-52
Write To Precharge (11) is tWR = 3 in bios too tight set it to 6.
Right now I am trying to get this ram stable at 548MHz. I was just wondering.. When I set my ram to 2.1v it idles at 2.13-2.14v and is 2.1v under load. Would this be considered dangerous in the longrun?
Hi.
This is not my best setup. I am currently working on a 1:1 setup with my Q6600 G0 @ 3,6GHz, so I can improve my ram timings, although I will not run my ram @ 500 MHz but @ 450MHz. I promise to post later on the results…
For now here is the proof that the 680i chipset can run 8GB of these sticks.
See my next post... pics from Q6600 G0 @ 3,6GHz.
Regards.
Here's my latest Memtest86+ v2.01 runs...
Attachment 76220
Attachment 76221
My Vista crashed with a BSOD and something about Memory Management. I was able to get into the BIOS just after this happened but then I got this message at the bottom of the screen...
PS/2 Mouse error or no PS/2 mouse present
Press F1.., Del...
Neither the F1 or Del keys worked. I then reset the CMOS and then I got this...
CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded
PS/2 Mouse error or no PS/2 mouse present
Press F1.., Del...
Still neither the F1 or Del keys work. Both the keyboard and mouse are connected. I'm using a USB to PS/2 mouse. I tried a PS/2 mouse with the same results.
Since the BSOD had something to do with Memory Management I turned my attention to my G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ memory. I removed one module. I must be lucky or something as I was able to boot into the BIOS with no error messages. Using Memtest86+ v2.01 the first module ran with no errors. I was also able to load Vista. The second module was a different story as it failed.
I was worried that I was going to have to RMA my motherboard but now it's going to be my G.SKILL memory!
what volt did you use?
Hi.
As promised on my previous post,…

Hi guys, amazing thread. Just got this kit plus an E8400 and an Abit IP35.
Running 9x400 and the RAM at 480Mhz@2.1v, 5-5-5-15, TrFc 48 and the rest on auto. How low can I try to set the timings at this frequency?
Two questions :)
1. What i sthe name of th eprogram you use for mesauring the temps, cause it's not coretemp for sure, on the screen you made it's in the right upper corner.
2. I have 4gb of geil black dragon 800mhz 5 5 5 15, and I cannot get them stable for stess tests, on 900mhz i can easily play cod4 crysis, but when I make 1081mhz, and that's what I would like te get stable with my ram I see something like suttering in the graphics which I did not have with my previous sticks 2gb reapers 1150, though I ran them 1199mhz (one of them stopped working after 3 months, while starting I had a detecting dram info and it wouldn't boot - it did boot with one stick - that is why I changed memry).
Soooo my question is is it worth to buy the gskills for my config?? (see below)
the second option would be 4x1gb crucial ballistix, but that's more expensive.
hope to get some help from Q6600 users :)))))
thx
Hi.
1. The program is Real Temp not Coretemp. I believe the last version is 2.24.
2. When I got my GSkill I was not aware of the compatibility issues that I am aware today. Also I now know that GSkill does NOT recommend the use of 8GB on boards with 650i and 680i chipsets. So…. go figure. But I can say that I'm happy with the product.
GSkill I think has a major advantage... I got 8GB for more or less 240 Euros and they perform well. Concerning the other aspects of your question… I’m not the right person to give you an answer.
I think your should start by reading this post, and get some feed back from GSKill Technician.
Regards.
my stuff arrived today :banana::banana::banana::banana:
too bad i have to go on a trip for a week with school, anyone can give me some fast tips and tricks for this memory
mobo is a DFI DK P35
Just got my G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ kit in the mail and ran some tests. It has no trouble doing memtest @ 2.1v 5-5-5-15 1067 or 2.1v 4-4-4-14 800 (tested all night & no errors). It doesn't even get warm to the touch :D!
My question is if I'm going to be running it at 800 w/tight timings until e8400's drop in price should I try to lower the voltage to 2.0v or should I just leave it?
Drop the voltage as low as it will go without producing errors.
Posted this in the Deals section too, $89.99 shipped today at the egg, nice ram.
Larry
Have anybody tried flashing the sticks with the SPD from the "F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK" sets? and check if clocking would still be the same. i mean isn't the only difference between the sticks a better PCB and another SPD for the PK ones?
Price is now down to $90 shipped!!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145
Click....buy two pairs........I'll be back with 8GB results on my rig by Thursday :D.
Not officially, but if you call them up or use the online chat and are ask them politely they might refund the difference if you recently made the purchase. I got $20 for my GTS after the price dropped a week after I purchased it. Give it a shot, but be aware there's no guarantee.
I think I'm going to get this ram, it should do 1068 24/7 without a problem, right?
I would hope so, thats not even hardly considered an overclock.. :p:
Does this RAM works on nForce 650i SLI MOBO? =O
my pc will not boot with 2 sticks installed, is this normal?
i have a DFI DK P35, and i am using the orange slots
Anyone having problem using this Kit with a DFI LP P35 ?
For $90 its a steal, Can these hit DDR2-1200 ??
No, that's not right at all. It should work fine.
I've used them in both Abit P35 and DFI X38, so while I'm not 100% sure, I haven't heard anything saying these would not be compatible with your board. However, expecting 1200mhz out of these is a bit much for sure. You would need some pretty cherry sticks to be able to do that with any sort of stability.
