Even for betas they are releasing too fast ... not enough internal systems testing going on as there is already 6.6.28 because 6.6.27 broke cuda entirely! I have been running 6.6.20 and it is OK because I only crunch WCG and GPUGrid but the scheduler is screwed up if you run mulitple projects. Really, take a look at the release log ... how many versions in the last week alone???
I don't know, but here is another one:

avoid this version if you're also CUDA gpu crunching...
http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=1128
Quote:
WARNING: Due to a big bug in this version, do not upgrade to it when you're using any sort of CUDA device and are using it to crunch. Your work will get lost.
I just read Boinc version 6.4.5 is not recommended. Did not specify OS. My Linux 64 quad is running 6.4.5 and so far seems fine. Anyone know what the problems were and if it was Windows specific?
Yeah I looked thru this thread and seemed like it worked fine for several and no one complaining.
thanks
:toast:
Guys, which version is best for x64 if I am also folding (CUDA) ?
I'm still on 6.6.28 on 4 cards, but 6.6.31 is the current one http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php
I just haven't upgraded to it yet. thats the one I would use

I am using version 6.6.31 x64 in Windows 7 Build 7201. I am having an issue when the screen saver comes on and the display turns off. It takes a while (10 ~ 60 seconds) to regain control of the desktop (one BSOD). I have checked the 'Compatability Tab' for Vista SP2, and that seemed to improve the response time. Are there plans to upgrade the software anytime soon? I have narrowed the problem down to this program when it is running.
Turn off the screen saver? The screen saver is a resource hog anyways.
I run in Win7 with absolutely zero problems.
I'm glad you found your problem doakh! Hopefully you'll find a fix for it soon! Good luck. :D
hi, it's been a while since i've DL'ed a new BOINC version. my crunchers were running 5.10.45, but recently i had to format. i also built another one. what's the most recent, stable, and will give the most PPD version for 32bit XP? is it 6.6.36? (no betas please, i'd like to set it and forget it, not something i'd try out and might have to reinstall).

The un-offical change log:
Charlie 4 November 2009
- Mac Installer: set most files in BOINC Data directory world-readable
Rom 5 November 2009
- MGR: Use mixed case keyboard accelerators instead of all caps, the wxGetTranslation function is case sensitive even though the rest of the menu code does not care about case.
Rom 6 November 2009
- Update to OpenSSL 0.9.8l
All new translations for all languages are included in this release.
And it's recommended now.
A new recommend version? AGAIN?
This is getting annoying updating all the machines all the time.. I will stick with 6.10.17 for now.
I know what you mean. Everytime I update Sunfire releases a new version:ROTF:
I have a few different version on my rigs now. need to update boinc and drivers again :shakes: :ROTF:
Thanks for keeping us updated Sunfire. I appreciate your time in doing so
Time to update again! :D If you want, of course :)
6.10.19 beta:

Windows 64 bit
Edit:
6.10.19 beta:
OS X
OS X command line version
Are there any known issues with 18 or 19? I have recently been having problems with drivers failing and restarting, but Ihave reverted drivers back and still have problems on some systems, not all though. I'm at a loss, nothing else has changed. I updated nvidia drivers and boing, noticed problems, reinstalled older drivers and problems remain. So I do not know if something with drivers stuck or if its something with boinc.
go back to 6.10.17 if you feel they might be an issue- it is recommended across the board on all OS's

OS X - 6.10.26

Would anyone like to comment on the importance of keeping current with the latest version? even the latest recommended/final version
I'm kinda in the "if it ain't broke" camp so I'm curious about the benefits
Sometimes the new version is slightly more efficient, benchmarking higher and chewing through more work (small %age of course) other times the jump gives new features (like when CUDA was included) which open new crunching possibilities. Sometimes there's bug fixes and other times ... without trying them out it's hard to know if it's worth changing or not.
