Thanks.
Any1 able to get more fsb than 505 or simmilar ??
I`m stuck at it and cant proceed further...
My CPu is 6300...
Got WC on NB, got pencil vmch mod(1.87Vmch) - so i`m realy prepared... :D

That his "i just..... dont blame me" mods works fine i think.
The more pencil i put, more vmch i get. I used HB.
Its easy to remove.
Used only vmch, cose Vcore and Vmem are not needed in my case.
It's really poor on SPi :(
I get with some months old Win XP installation with olivegreen xp theme @ 3600mhz 14.250. Its 0.500 difference!
Anyone got 4 sticks of rams to overclock on this board?
My D9GCTs won't budge with 4 sticks but will do 1000 4-4-4-5 2T with only 2 sticks.
I was able to get a 501fsb oc with the mem at 980mhz. it was 8+ hours orthos prime stable but when i shut the machine down that night and powered it up the next day it lost all stability for some reason. i reset the cmos and all is well again.Quote:

Does anyone experience the same problem?
2x512MB D9GCT can go ddr2-1000 @ 2.35v
4x512MB D9GCT won't go over ddr2-730 @ any voltage setting.
Am i limited by the sticks or the mobo?
just got this board with an e6400, got it up to 462x8 as of now with bios 0202. Was wondering if the newer bioses would possibly be any better? Any help is greatly appreciated.
401 actually screwed up my overclock so just stay with 202 for now.Quote:

well my p5n-e arrived. currently running orthos at 400x9 1:1 4-4-4-15 2T linked/synch. 1.43vcore +100mv set in bios. speedfan/pcprobe read 1.47 idle 1.44 load(bounces between 1.44 and 1.46). Just try'n to get my 24/7 clocks from my dfi rd600 stable then i'll really play with it hard and see how much i can lower my vcore. i should be able to go to at least 1.42vcore after droop at load as thats where this chip liked to run on my rd600.
At auto settings it tried to push my crucial ballistix pc1000's at 800mhz 4-4-4-X(didnt commit tras to memory lol) 1T. Gave me all kindsa :banana::banana::banana: before i realised that. Also had a mishap try'n linked 1:1 where it try'd to run my memory at 1600mhz lol. Black slots are definitly a must, couldnt pass dual 32m 400x9 in the yellow slots 2T but seem to be working fine in the blacks over 1 hour orthos atm while surfing and listening to shoutcast radio ect. So looking good, i'll give 1t a shot tomarrow after im sure 2t is rock solid.
Also my board shipped with the 0307 bios according to the sticker over the soldered in cmos chip. CPU-z also reports bios revision 0307 date 12/25/06. Might be something to be aware of for you guys with replacements or new buyers assume'n that they are still only shipping 0202 bios's.
i'm wondering how all of you use black slots for stability. i achieve higher clocks in the yellow slots. my corsair xms2 6400c4 won't even boot in the black slots at 850ddr whereas they are rock solid in the yellow slots for 24/7 at 910ddr 4-4-4-12 2T.
I've always used yellow on mine, never even tried the blank ones. i run 500 1:1 no problem.
I installed my Tuniq Tower today, and was having nothing but stability issues. I think i finally figured it out. With the new HSF, there was no airflow over my northbridge, and i believe it was overheating. So i attached a stock AMD heatsink fan to my Noctua NH-U6 NB sink, which was a perfect fit i might add, and it seems to be working quite a bit better. I would of never though a NH-U6 wouldn't be enough for this board.
The memory slots on my board is seriously cranky.
Tested using 1xSilicon Power 512MB
From CPU socket:
Slot 1 (Y): DDR2-1000 4-4-4-5 2.35v fails memtest Test5 with ~2000 errors.
Slot 2 (B): DDR2-1066 4-4-4-5 2.35v passes memtest Test5 25 passes.
Slot 3 (Y): DDR2-1000 no boot
Slot 4 (B): DDR2-1066 4-4-4-5 2.35v fails memtest Test5 with ~200 errors. DDR2-1000 4-4-4-5 2.35v passes memtest Test5 25 passes.
Using E6400 @ 0401 bios.
EDIT: 4 sticks of 512MB D9GCT can only hit 730mhz regardless of setting/voltage.
Same 4 sticks can do 1000mhz 4-3-3-5 on dfi 975x.
Can anyone kind enough to let me know what BIOS settings you set when you planned to get FSB > 450. My board can boot with 450FB, but when set to a higher FSB, it wont boot at all. Pumping more NB voltage won't help either. About the LDT multiplier, does that effect anything? My ram able to get 480FSB stable using P5B-E Plus.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone running RAID-0 in this board ?
Mind to show the result of HD Tech and HD Tune's result ?
thank you so much.

Lestat a big "THANK YOU" :toast: for the tip about powering off and waiting a few mins on failed settings. My board often wont post after making changes at the upper limits of my hardware, but if I just let it fail to POST power off wait a few mins, then power on, a lot of times the new settings take and work just fine. This is not a perfect board, but what board is :) But it's not bad at all for the price.
My P5N-E SLI died yesterday. I went to turn it on, it powers up for 3 seconds, then shuts off :(
Are you sure it is the board? It sounds more like a PSU issue.Quote:

I read through this whole thread today and the highest memory I've seen is 620mhz. Any body make it higher than that? If I see a few at 625mhz I'm getting one of these today....
Finally got a new P5n-e Sli, on the old one the bios got corrupted so i rma'd it. However I still can't get my pc to run a qdr higher then 1200 mhz... on 1220, 1250, 1280, 1300 it won't boot. but on 1333, it will boot, however it is very unstable. even wen i upped both the north bridge voltage and the cpu voltage to the max ...
So since this is my second p5n-e, with the same problem ... i'm guessing my e4300 isn't a very good overclocker ...
Any thoughts on this?
My first e6300 was limited to 400fsb no matter what the settings were. This e6300 will boot at 532fsb. And yes, I believe some cpu's have an fsb wall. Try another cpu to be sure.Quote:

I was running the 0401 BIOS and thought that could be the problem so flashed to 0202 and same thing. RAM in either set of slots is irrelevant as I get the same problem either way. I am new to Core 2 O/C ing but am an old hand at AMD stuff.
Right now I have 1092 QDR set with the CPU running at 2457MHz, 1.35v. I have boosted the RAM to DDR873, linked on the 5:4 divider and it is solid on Orthos. I can't get to 2500MHz on the CPU no matter what voltage I run. The board just refuses to POST forcing a reset of CMOS/BIOS. Cooling is not a factor here as both chipsets are on a standalone water loop (3/8" single 120 rad). The CPU is on another water loop (1/2" dual 120 rads) and the temp is 31c after 1 hour of Orthos. The RAM has its own fan (an OEM HSF fan blowing on it) and the mobo itself is cooled by a 250mm fan in the side panel.
Since the RAM is solid I am left with a weak board or a weak CPU. I very much doubt that this CPU is incapable of anything more than 2457MHz. If you guys have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated otherwise I guess I RMA the board.
EDIT: Nevermind, I am RMAing this board and moving up to an ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus.
I've hit 501x8 1:1 mem 4-4-3-4 and 130 pci-e in SLI mode on the budged board;)

I've just recieved this board, still waiting for my cpu (e6600 b1) and ram (super talent pc6400C4) so not up and running just yet. I have reseated the nb heatsink and put as5 under it and put a 40mm fan on using two screws down between the fins. Also put a Zalman NB-47J on the sb. Do you think this will be enought cooling? Will be watercooling the cpu...
I was wondering which bios to use? Will of course be overclockingit!
Nice. If I get close to your results, I'll be very happy. I was going to go for 2 160gig WD SATA hard drives to run in RAID, but I think this board will make me happier. Plus, new cpu and ram and I've got my HTPC...Even happier about that...Quote:

I wish I could use TAT also...Other than that it is much more stable than my S3 even at 500mhz fsb and 600mhz memory 5-4-4-12.
I wonder where that 502 BIOS came from?

I have heard of putting them in the black slots allows for 1T timing. What is your advice? Thanks in advance.Quote:

If this doesn't work, I'd take your mobo out of the case to test it, see if it can boot up outside your case to make sure it's not shorting out on anything. Then I'd try moving your ram to the black slots if they're not already.Quote:

There is a downgrade in the ROM. I'm not going to flash it
well mine died last night for no freakin reason.
turned it on and nothing. powered on but no video, no post, no error beeps, nothing.
hard drive light stayed on solid and the cdrom light was blinking.
reset cmos, yanked the battery (which if your not careful you WILL break the battery retention clip.
still nothing.
welcome to ANOTHER Asus RMA.......
god i can't wait until that abit mATX board comes out.
Greetings gyes! The second day I understand with this mobo a payment. The first results not so. I can be loaded on frequency 1694 at the maximal v on northern bridge, but at further increase FSB the payment refuses to start... I have noticed that on it there is huge quantity FSB Holes, and because of it frequently there are problems with разгном. As I cannot include the set 2*512 Mb D9GCT in a mode 1:1. At exhibiting Sync Mode the payment changes multipliers 4:3, 15:14 and so on, depending on dispersal FSB... With pleasure I shall listen to your offers, and I will be grateful to your help... Thanks
Here are my results. Just look at that vdroop on load! I need the vdroop mod badly :(
Gonna have to get vdroop and temps under control before I run Orthos 24hours

Ok, this is what Ive managed to crank out of this mobo max stable benchable FSB. To be honest Im sick of this mobo, with all the boot-up flaws and everything and Im replacing it with a AW9D-Max.

Yes, but if the SLI card on the motherboard is set to SLI it will make both slots 8X each. If it is set to single card then one will be 16X and the other will be 2X. Just make sure the SLI is in the right direction.
The SLi card will either set one slot to a full 16x and set the other slot to 2x or share the slots with 8x each.Quote:

Or an even simpler way would be to see what the sli card says since its got pretty simple instructions on it.
This board would be great except for the horrible vdroop. My voltage goes from 1.5v idle to 1.44-1.42v load. That is ridiculous. I'm considering sending this thing back. Or do a vdroop mod. The mod better work though.Quote:

Can anybody tell me why ntune doesn't work on this board? I sure wish I could use TAT again...Or clockgen or anything. I need to do the droop mod today and see what my DMM tells me.
use the bios and speedfan
and what do those apps have to do with what your DMM tells you, you dont use those to read your dmm
just trust your DMM
You're missing the point. I just want a windows OC app. I want to know how the voltages speedfan, ntune whatever relates to actual voltage.Quote:

There is a beta of clockgen that does work on this mobo, it used to be downloadable from here
www.cpuid.com/beta/clockgen.zip
The link doesnt work atm though, I have no idea why
it would be necessary to know which PLL the P5N-E SLI uses
Maybe it's no longer in beta? I'll check aroundQuote:

Seeing as everyone else was saying about vdroop, i'll contribute.
My e6300 is at 2GHz (low!) currently, vcore is set to 1.25v in the BIOS.
In windows at idle it reads 1.232v, and at load the lowest i've seen it was at 1.200v.
