You should update all instances of the app. (as the old app could leave a copy of the source-file in the buffer)
Is the source file located on the same drive as is being tested?
Is there some AV that could interfere? (by scanning the file and leaving it in the buffer, if so, disable scanning on MD5 extensions or the TEST folder)

I'll have another look but there should be no reason to the file being buffered.

There will be an update one of these days as generating the checksum has been optimized. (a bit faster)

Drive just panic locked without warning at 9:43am on the 23/6/2012. Attempts to resurrect it by plugging it into other computers have failed.

I have seen other M3P get faster as they get some wear on them, might be just now getting broke in

The speed increase from "break in" isn't probably what you're seeing with the M3P. You have to put a lot of wear on a drive before it's NAND's characteristics start to change, several thousand PE cycles. However, some drives also tune for workload. While it's uncommon with consumer drives, enterprise drives do this frequently.

The Mtron has dropped out one time this morning but is OK now. The G1 is still losing reserve space but still looks strong. I also noted that CDI latest ver has added some information on the m4.
C3 has gone from unknown to Cumulative Corrected ECC and will help us to know the status of the nand. Looking back this value started increasing at 500 TiB but had the largest increase after the last retention test.

Finally, the 830 loses another block. New count is 8, up from 7.-

AFAICR first reallocted sectors did occur at ~1.180GiB on Samsung 830 256GB, one would expect The Plextor behave similar at roughly 600GiB for a 128GB drive, but fortunately there is no sign of it.. I think it's more important living long time with bad blocks, handiling them etc than bad block amount.. But it still a good thing for The Plextor for now, considering it writes like a SLC drive, right :)

Stupid me does not really understand what I am seeing here and I have some questions if that is ok.

What is a sector? It seems a block on the 830 contains 4096 sectors. Are these bytes? I assume things can differ between NAND chips, so can you compare "reallocated sector" on the 830 with the intel G1 (why did the count suddenly go down??) ?

A sector is 512 bytes. An erase block is 2 meg in size, so each block contains 4096 of the 512 byte sectors.

Whenever the samsung controller sees an erase failure, it marks the entire erase block as bad, so the bad block count increases 4096.

Not sure how comparable it is to the G1.

The reason why the G1 reallocated sector count went down was because the counter is only able to store a number between 0-255. Intel made a mistake putting the reallocated sector count inside the normalized value rather then the raw smart value. So when the normalized value reaches 255 and is incremented again, it loops back to 0.

amusing, it seems to me that the plextor was waiting for me to pop some reallocation..
at least i learnt what BB, B2 SMART ID's stands for for my CPP.. for example it lacks C4 and there was no way to see other than 05..

Oh wait... I was completely wrong. There was a reallocation event, but no actual reallocated sectors(?). Look at the M3p's SMART data again. Reallocated sector count still equals zero.

Yeah, CDI5 "anime edition" is better than HDSentinel's "Cheeses of the World edition", but not as fantastic as SSDLife's "lolcats version".

The Time spent between BB 1 to 2 was ~13 hours and it writes ~950 GiB/h, therefore total write is 12380GiB.. There is left 98*12380 = 1214192GiB(1.186TiB).. it's already written ~700TiB, 1900TiB would be too good to be true for a 128GB 24nm MLC drive ?

Kaktus, I don't know that it works like that. The M3P is just a mystery, so I'd hate to make any predictions.

It is up to a 277.63MB/s average though, so it's getting faster.

Well, that is still more then twice the NAND's specified lifetime. BAT's M4 just seems to be an anomaly! If Micron was selling eMLC memory, BAT's m4 would be made with it :)

Okay -- now we have reallocated sectors. 335872 to be exact. If we multiply that by 512, we get 171966464 bytes, or 164MB. I'm not sure how that works out, because if you divide 335872 by the 41 reallocation events, you get 8192 sectors per reallocation. 8192 sectors is 4MB, so each erase block is 4MB? That can't be right.

Not, not good...
Increase count up of re-allocation sectors too more rapidly.
To predict. SMART spit out in the middle or long-term span?

24nm Toshiba Toggle DDR 2 NAND erase block is 2MB , but if you use 2 plane algorithm (increase write speed) , Plane A block fail will cause Plane B block (same address) also useless. Maybe logical block size is 4MB. :D

Yes, E8 went to 97. I believe this is available reserved space or something.

MWI is now at 81, 106 reallocation events, and 868352 sectors. 424MB of spare area is now gone, but that's probably only 3% of the total allowed.

Like my vertex 4, the drive will probably stop working right at 200 odd reallocations.

Basicly, it was a car doing 300km/h slamming into a brick wall (or 2!) :)

I'm not certain what is going on with the M3P, but I'm not physically there at the moment to go over it more thoroughly. However, I was just taking some screenshots of ASU and CDM, and the M3P's ASU instance just "unfroze"

IT LIVES! Sort of, it appears ASU just locks up periodically, and for hours, then it continues for a short time.

UPDATE,
I force-quite ASU, then tried reading and writing some files to the M3P, and all was well. I started ASU back up, and now it won';t make it past the spash, and now Windows cant get at the drive either it seems.

I just got home, looking into the Plextor now. The system is indeed on but locked up, so I suspect the M3P is truly dead.

I removed the M3P, and the rig unfroze. The Samsung is still chugging along with 2600.36TiB.

Interestingly, when I can get benchmarks to run (though not complete) seq write speed is up 30MB/s over new! That's kinda crazy, but seq. read is diminished by an equal amount.
