He,he, I think Ed must work OT last 2 months to buy stuff like this.

Yes, lots of overtime for sure!!
Thanks, batch on this one is a older ES

Batch:3948A439
Thanks Dino, great to hear that from such a legend!
Did you see the 246 Bclk I posted back on page 48 after the one you quoted?
I was just messing around with it, haven't had time to really get into it yet. I am very surprised with it already though, coming from a 965 that took dry ice and lots of effort to even get close to that, being able to boot 235+ is very cool.
I do see a drop across the board in Everest Bandwidth with 980X, something I did not expect nor have I seen much mention of. A few small comments here or there in reviews of 980X is all. I am sure the extra cores make up for that though, but it is kind of depressing :(
i quoted the wrong post
i did mate :)
i dont think it makes a big difference as SuperPi performance is now on par with other i7s if not even better
make sure you are not losing a channel as well when you test bandwidth
sometimes it can happen when you push NB or RAM too hard
Ahh just wondered if you missed it or not. It's very cool to me and I don't think I have seen anyone get a higher Bclk on Gigabyte X58.
I know most people care about higher Mhz though, which I will get into shortly and it may not fair so well there either not sure?
I was told the CPU would not be good under LN2, so it may not get a very high overall freq either? I wont ever get it under LN2 anyway though, and was told it would be ok under dry ice. So hope to do that within a few weeks.
Still need to mod my board though, without the OCP mod where will it shut off at? Is it 5.4Ghz then it shuts down, or is there more to it than that? I need to find a place that sells the variable resistor I need, anyone know shops online please PM me.
Ahh, so you noticed it as well with Everest? I hadn't seen anyone mention that yet, but I know not many people use that as a guage for anything, so that could be why.
I use it a lot myself for memory reviews, so it's kind of a bummer to me.
All channels solid here :) but I do know what you mean, my 965 does it often at higher freq.
It isnt that much lower, but I noticed it right away. I think it is mostly copy that is much lower, and I tried out various Uncore as due to the different options with that now, and it made no difference.
Ya that sounds about normal for X58, it could be cooler but that is average for stock cooling I think.
I also have this post code reset problem, leaving the machine off overnight and it will happen. Need another hard reset. The settings is solid with 20 hrs prime stable and pass 30 LinX.
Anyone else got this?
Yes, MCH Temp is fairly warm in X58. Usual temps are around 50-58, depending on ambient temps and case air flow, some may be hotter/cooler though of course.
Thank you for answering. I am using computer for 20 years and i am very skilled in various things , but never so interested in OC till now... At least i am a fast learner...
It's difficult for me to go any further , like water OC-ing before i solve post code (c1) reset thing. I hope its just a bios problem... I will try new beta later today, also changing memory slots to see what happens...
I think it's wise to have a fan over the chipset area or some airflow going over it....ive always done it on all my boards
@dinos22
Yeah, you can't go wrong about that for sure...
Everyone with Gulftown CPU-BIOS F7c
Translated from JZelectronic:

Important information with Gulftown! For default values, please adjust the memory voltage manually in the BIOS, may otherwise be 1.800V ...!!
GBT already works on it.
Slightly dissapointed here, as I cant possibly see myself getting this board (have the UD7) unless it was a double cpu socket mobo
Only for the crazy gpu users I have to say, and the double 8 pin in my experience is a gimmick that makes no real difference to OC'ing, this I found out on the evga mobo's which are also good.
I just neeeed another cpu socket on the UD9 and I'm there so fast!! If that happens I'd gladly get it over the evga SR2, as I cant beieve how good GIg boards are :D

edit: perhaps a new thread for this is in order.
Ok, when i put memory in white slots MB is doing c1 loop, then long fast interrupting beep , everything fallowed by black screen. In blue slots it boots after some c1 loop, then it starts normal. Any thoughts, recommendations ?
Yeah, after putting memory from white to blue slots, mb is reporting voltage or overclocking error and resets to default bios state.
Hi,
just a general question. Does it make sense to remove the heatpipe block from the NB/SB/CPU mosfets of the UD7 and replace whatever thermo transfer stuff they put underneath with Arctic Silver 5, or something along those lines?
I've done it on my previous boards, also on the Maximus Formula, when ASUS put insufficient t.c. under the SB - killed some boards...
Just in general to improve the cooling a bit maybe?
Would someone mind posting a bios template with 980x at like 4.4 or 4.5ghz?
Thanks.
no thanks on the vcore that high, anyone else?
Tried that ,even more, any mem stick i put in any blue slot is not booting, same error... Hmm, memory or MB RMA? I don't have some other dd3 to try *sigh*
EDIT: As i mentioned before, after booting in white slots, system is perfectly working(exept c1 loop on power button boot), stable, no errors, memory at 1.5v. Putting higher mem voltages does not change anything... Software or hardware reset is normal without loop...
We (with 32nm chip) need a new BIOS.
