no you dont have to , i havent seen it make any difference.
if your not using any type of linux or any type of virtual program that allow syou to run windows and another OS at the exact same time.. its not going to do anything.
so turning it off would be best i suppose.
i have it off, and have tried with it on and havent noticed anything.

Wichtig ! Alle die für Allendale CPUen die neuen Betas nutzen, sollten die Energieverwaltung auf Dauerbetrieb stellen. EIST funktioniert leider nicht einwandfrei bei E6300/6400 ! Die Leistung wird schlechter im EIST Zustand, sogar Brenn- vorgänge können abbrechen. Und X-fi Soundkarten haben K.F. Bis auf weiteres sollten Allendale Besitzer die letzte Final Version nehmen. PS.: So wie es aussieht, läuft EIST mit Conroe CPUen problemlos... Es wird in Taiwan daran gearbeitet und wir erwarten täglich ein neues BIOS.

BTW, I think it just states there's a problem with EIST on Core2 CPU's

Energy Usagee on max = turn off ALL energy saving fetures like EIST, C1E, QST etc

Just finished testing F5D bios, boots up fine fsb 450 and setfsb -> 520
