Hey Dede,
Just for clarification what exactly did the Vcore Drop=Disabled helped you achieve?
K Linflas no worries, I have to get away for 10 days (Wed 16th till Mon 28th) and I won't be able to play with my Xmas toy as much as I wanted . My first board was RMA so I got little time to get it to run 450x9 till then.
What is your high temp peak on the cpu core with those settings? Did you lapp you Q6600?
I'll better show you :)
this is after I disable the VCore Droop Control
http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/9...9-VCore.th.png
and this is enabled
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/922...6-VCore.th.png
hope this helps
I'm using your setting's Praz anyways but this is just better setting for 24/7 use since my idle voltage is lower with Vcore droop OFF, but for higher OC I don't know yet, but will find out soon as I'm going to benchmark on my new board so hope I'm going over 4GHz with my Quad :D.
But I think the droop control is just doing good job so I'll leave it OFF for now until I know better :)
This is what I got so far, but for some reason I can't finish 24hrs OCCT (beta) it it reboots the PC in some point:

have you tried slightly more CPU / VTT / NB CORE?
Yes and it doesn't seam to respond well I guess my CPU temp gets too high (72oC peak on Smartguardian) and it's probably due to a bad Apogee GT contact with it. I will try to sort this out when I come back from vacations by the end of the month.
I can play games and run a lot of 3d tests but when it comes to OCCT 12-24hrs it just reboots :-(
nice going there Joreibr, why you need to stress test it for 24 hour's ? I would never do this except you really do extreme stuff on your computer like video editing or 3D animations
maybe you also need to change the GTL a few 'points' , like these people http://edgeofstability.com/articles/.../gtl/gtl7.html went from 108/110 to 112/112 and they fixed their prime stability problem...
i realy hope my x38 turns up tomorrow, im getting desperate :hump:
teasing me with those 4Ghz screen shots too ;) :D
That is the issue, it is vista only problem
I just got the night off! lol, so will get those settings up tonight
Cooling is D-tek fusion, no mods, no nozzles or bowing, with 1/2" tubing on a PA 120.3 and D5 pump. Cpu is not lapped.
I hear ya, a year on 680i made me a jealous guy also, but now I am a have, not a have not
3DMark01, obviously I have no idea how to set this one up, never used it before, so compared to your score, I did something wrong, not worth my time to figure it out, as I don't play benchmarks.

anyone wanting to buy my DFI X38 (USA), PM me!
OCCT Stuff and bios settings, BTW huge props to Praz for the memory timings on the GSkill 2x2GB PC2-8000 Kit I have, SuperPi 32M stable, so all is good, thanks Praz!

Thanks for the settings Linflas I will try to get there.
But I noticed I don't have this setting:
"Execute Disable Bit.......................Enabled"
EDIT: I did a clear cmos and the value appeared again. Go figures.
My Bios is the latest Beta to correct NB volts...
i replied to your PM
http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3129 says that:
counterintuitive, indeed.... maybe it should be better named 'vcore droop allow' than 'control' , by some miracle of engineering they have made the board inherently droop-proof ,and they have to artificially re-introduce the vdroop just to be safe, perhaps...Quote:
VCore Droop Control: Set this function to DISABLED for overclocking; counter-intuitively, the ENABLED setting causes the CPU core voltage to sag when the CPU is placed under load.
Dunno, Intel spec ask for this vdroop on thier chip, it is probably a safety measure, don't know the tech side of it, better safe then sorry, keep it enabled.
well, more fun, Vista64, Aero enabled 3870's 860/1200, no tweaks, 68 background process. LOL!

wow i need a quad and a second 3870
okay since this is not just an overclocking thread but also a discussion thread among other things... what do you think are the prospects of using a geforce card in an x38 board... SLI is a remote possibility, i've heard that you need to modify the bios to do it, or maybe even just the drivers ... or can something other than a graphics card use the x16 lane, such as a high powered PPU coming out in the near future?
