I think give a try to F10b...but DON'T PUT F10e
I'm not sure about the UD3R, on the UD3P I would not go above f10b bios. Sergio has been having problems since flashing to f10e
EDIT: was reading your mind Sergio lol.
I'm on f9 (UD3R) with no noticeable compatibility issues. They just released f11. Link It says "increased cpu compatibility". Not sure what cpu they mean (what cpu they've added), but my q9650 works great with f9 as does my e8400. I've used crucial ballistix 6400, gskill 8500pi, ocz reaper 8500, ocz blade 9200, and gskill 9600 mems on it and there's no problems to note. if it ain't broke don't fix it applies to these bioses. f9 is sufficient IMO.
That's a hell of a feat, i'm not suprised. it should take quite a bit of tweaking to get there, if it's even possible for your chip.
flashed my board (UD3P ver 1.6) to the FDa bios, the lan ports gave a hardware error after booting into W7 Ultimate RTM, i have a multiple boot setup and the same thing on the Vista Ultimate 64 side. tried reinstalling drivers, didn't change anything, flashed back to the old bios.
i liked the "quick boot", didnt give it a chance to OC, no web, i cant hang with that!:)
ok well my board is not a lemon:rofl:
i was primin n took a 2.5 hour nap:eek: i never prime over 1 hour lol
4 sticks 1200 @500x8.5
500x9 takin 1.49v even with different gtls
1:1 divider dont work @500fsb ? lol
primin @ 4.45 @ 1.44v not worth the xtra .05 for 50mhz
200D pl9 works best zsamz for 1:1 or 240B if your ram is good for it. I have to say with the bad luck you've had using giga boards this is a huge step giving them another shot. After a couple bad experiences with any company I very rarely go back and try them again.
Ok guys, please help me here, I am new to this motherboard. I am able to land the following right now stable Prime and Intel Burntest and OCCT.

I turned off EIST and all that safety crap. Tell me if I missed anything here you want to see and thank you to whom ever helps me as it is appreciated.
truehighroller: everything looks good to me. To go much higher you will probably have to adjust your advanced clock control.
I will try messing with those settings and see what haopens. Thank you, I traded my other Q9550 chip in for another one by the way. I think that it was kinda flaky. The good news is I have a VID of 1.175v now instaed of 1.225v .
I will report back on what happens, maybe that is why I am having issues booting past 475.
Thanks Noob, I just got 480 to boot but, I had to set my shiat to 1:1. Will report back.
good to see people sticking to their principles.
now all you have to do is add the gigabut UD3P
to your sig with a thumbs up:D
i know you havent had it that long yet
but you know its a great board:D
i have to agree with OCnub, and im glad you gave gigabyte
another chance.although im sure you were just tired of us
begging you to give this board a chance:D
exactly right, if you have a Q9650 or any quad then its the best 775 board
hands down.any other cpu and its just about the same as other P45's
I'm at 500x8.5 NOW WOOT!!.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: is hot though. I might have to take this back if me tweaking the cooler tonight doesn't resolve the heat issues it is havng. I am at work and do not have it connected to the internet though so no validate until I get home later tonight.
This board is tricky to get used to. I don't know if any one here has this issue but, if I try to set my settings all at once when first tweaking my BIOS settings it won't boot. I have to set the basic settings first which are my CPU Voltage and my NB voltage and leave everything else at auto, then come back and tweak the rest of the settings in order to boot. Is this normal behavior with this board?
Edit: 510FSB!
I wish I had brought my TIM and that washer for my thermalright extreme with me. I left out the washer and when under load I am getting high temps now so, I don't know if it is because of the washer being left out or maybe I didn't do a good enough job cleaning off the old TIM.... I'm at 510FSB though and I am able to open CPU-Z. :YIPPIE:
i got a coolmaster 212 on mine i gotta say its kickin my trues ass
f4 is the original bios and backup, It will stay that. If you flash to f10e that will become the new backup bios from what I understand. I would not go any higher than f10b. You can flash the backup bios by using ALT+F12. But once you go to f10e you cannot go backwards on the backup bios.
i will tell my story of hell with bios F10e
I was running F10b perfect OC'n hard never had an issue...i decided to try F10e and hell started...i could read on bios hitting F9 main bios F10e / backup F10e...
So i just tought go back to F0b but couldnt with Qflash, so have to do it on flashspi...but then EVERY time i failed hard on an OC F10e came back over and over...i did all to get rid of it and couldnt...so when bios F10f was posted i flashed and hit Alt + F12 on post and there was a question if i want to put my main bios as backup so i say yes...Bios F10f seems good but i prefeer F10b.
So now i have F10b as main and F10f as backup
If you want my opinion DONT put F10e go for F10b or F10f or you will have my same problem. Of course those crashes will never happen if you dont push hard, i was benching to 4815 and 4900
Cheers
Sergio

verry weird this board prefers d9gkx instead of d9gmh
i was 7 hour prime stable n i took out my 4 stix of gkx to take heatspreaders off n put in my best gmh and it failed in 2 min lol
put back in 4 sticks of gkx all good
does the board degrade with 4 stix?
I have two questions for the UD3x gurus. :)
Mine (UD3P) is a rev. 1.6 board, BIOS FB.
1. Using my Q9550 C1, it ups vCore nicely... in .0625v(or whatever) increments til 1.600v. Next jump is 1.620 then 1.640, etc. Using 1.600v with LLC on, shows 1.584v in CPU-Z( moderate vDrop...vDroop is good though). When i up it to 1.620v, it skyrockets to 1.664v in CPU-Z  ; 1.640v BIOS gives 1.680v in CPU-Z. So..a .02v jump gives a .08v increase! Is this a well known issue? It does make stability much better, but at the cost of huge vCore increase(and frazzled nerves).
2. Figuring how excellent this board O/Cs my Q9550, i decided that i can't wait to see what it would do for my Pentium D915, which i got 5068MHz with on my P35-DS3L. The wall on the P35 came, because vCore in BIOS stops at 1.600v(~1.568v CPU-Z), then the next jump is 1.800v...too much for air. I assumed that the UD3P should give me some nice control in the 1.600v-1.700v range. Wrong! It only gives max 1.400v in BIOS/ET6.....BIG letdown. Anyone know about this/why? :bs: :censored:
-Q9550/E8400/E6600/PD-915(was hoping for personal bests on all these)
-EP45-UD3P(v1.6/FB)
-9800GTX+
-VX550
-XP Pro SP2/W-7 RC
-TRUE
Sorry if these have been brought up before, this thread is like trying to read the Bible...a year-long undertaking.
TIA

BAM!
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/9647/newtoy.png
And one more, I can probably drop the voltage core on this one but whatever.
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/1178/sweetp.png
LOVE THIS BOARD!
Thank you Thank you, bad thing is I might still have to swap chips again :(. I think it still might be running to hot. I took my heatsink and scrubbed it real good with alcohol and remounted it with the washer in place and while I evened the temps out across the chip the temps were still creaping to high last night for it, a little..
I think it was hitting 80s under full load. I think the chip has a flaw on the inside to where it isn't making good contact with the cores completely. Kinda sucks it is a good chip. I don't even think water would make that big of a difference to be honest. I am going to keep tinkering with it for a couple of nights and see if anything changes or not.
truehighroller, looks like your enjoying the UD3P.500+fsb is great
with a quad:up:
Can someone tell my why my PC is going to sleep while running Prime95?
Turn it off it Windows yet? Also turn it off in the BIOS settings yet?
Different subject, I am looking in to water coling but, I don't know yet.. I am still debating. If I am going to get water cooling I am going for the best stuff that is for sure. I was looking around today at blocks and pumps and radiators. I might be just pushing my cooler further then what it can handle and the temps might actually be swell.
I will under clock it to 3.8GHz and see if my temps are close to my old Q9450 and if they are then I am pushing it is my guess and I will probably buy a water cooling setup. Maybe I can find a formula to use or a calculator tha will tell me the Wattage.
Edit:
Found calculator, I am burning 189 - 195 Watts. I can not, find how ever the rating for the Thermalright 120 extreme.
I need better cooling. I put it at 8 x 485 and it is where my other one was, at that speed temperature wise.
Edit:
Spoke to soon again, it is the chip. Is it possible that the sensors in it are whacked out? It was reaching upward of 94c at 3.8GHz. VDroop doesn't cause that right? This board has a .04v droop.
Wow, what a great thread. I find myself needing a new mobo for my Q9450 & OCZ Blade low voltage DDR2 1066 setup after frying my Asus Maximus Formula (X38) setup (my fault, long story). I really don't need X38 features and after searching a bit found this thread showing a really good line of P45 mobo's that appear to provide a great value.
So – my question – other than specific features such as Raid support or Xfire is there any significant difference between the various P45-UD3 mobo's? I'm not running Xfire and I don't need DDR3 support so I'm a bit puzzled at the choices – they all appear to be solid and I can't see the difference between, say, going with the lower cost UD3L (in DDR2 variety) vs a UD3P or UD3R (obviously the latter having RAID). So – am I missing anything?
I'll be mounting a Prolimatech Megahalems cooler so if there's any clearance issues that would be good to know – had to mount sideways on the Maximus but that was OK as it's in a CM690 case so it blew straight up towards the top where I have exhaust fans mounted.
Thanks!
P has Crossifre at 8x by 8x speeds the R doesn't. I would get one of these two if I was you, they say you get what you pay for.
I don't need the Xfire (and, really, if I was going to Xfire I'd probably want to do it at x16 X 2) and I'm ambivalent about RAID support (I've had RAID chipsets on my last two systems but have yet to deploy a RAID group). Other than that I'm not seeing what the differentiators are between the boards.
As far as getting what you pay for . . . I mean, being UD3 series, they all have the extra copper PCB's, the better caps, as well as the carryovers from UD2 like lower RDS MOSFETs, ferrite choke, etc. - right?
So as I review the offerings on Newegg (typically representative of fair "street" pricing) I see:
GA-EP45-UD3R for $119.99 less $15 rebate, total of $104.99
GA-EP45-UD3P for $134.99 less $20 rebate, total of $114.99
GA-EP45-UD3L for $109.99 less $15 rebate, total $94.99
GA-EP45C-UD3R for $129.99 less $20 rebate, total $109.99
After the base UD3 features that I expect all of them share (correct me if I'm wrong) it would appear that the "extras" are:
EP45-UD3R has RAID support (ICH10R)
EP45-UD3P has Xfire and RAID support
EP45C-UD3R has support for DDR3 & DDR2 and RAID
EP45-UD3L has none of the above and may not have Firewire (couldn't confirm, all the rest have Firewire)
So - am I missing anything else? It's not *really* the money, I'm just frugal, and typically look at the cost differences in terms of . . . how much beer would that buy? :) So if I don't need Xfire or RAID is there something else I'm just not catching? Thanks again.
if you can afford the UD3R,its your best bet.its a proven clocker
i dont know much about the UD3L and ddr3 are bad boards
Stay away from the C -- Combo DDR2/DDR3 board. One can say take the UD3R over the UD3L as it has better HS's on the board components. And it has an 8 pin CPU power connector unlike the 4 pin on the UD3L. However I have a GA-EP45T-UD3LR (DDR3 version) and it only has 4 pin CPU power and I'm running it at 8x500 (see sig). I'd go for the UD3R cause of the better cooling HS.
Edit:
Oh, and BIOS is a little more cut down on the UD3L series in the M.I.T. section.
Why, is the combo board bad?
I actually find the EP45C a breeze, and but for my crappy psu and ram, as well as the fact that I'm on air, I could probably be taking down some records. I've primed as high as 4.35Ghz already and clockgened to 4.6Ghz with the settings below oc:
http://www.hostthenpost.org/uploads/...584f1aed4f.jpg
OK, a direct answer to my question. :)
In which direction did you orient the cooler - "traditional" with the fan(s) blowing to the "back" of the mobo or "sideways" with the flow to the right side of the mobo? On my ASUS Maximus I had to go sideways - wondering about clearance issues on the EP45-UD3 that I may need to plan for. Either way works for me as I have exhaust fans in both the top and back of my CM-690 - I just like to have these things planned out as much as possible. Any info you could share would be welcome. TIA.
traditional...one panaflo 38mm push config
Alright different chip now again,. The other one was pushing 94c at 3.5GHz. This one is a 170 batch and has a vid of 1.2375 which is ok because it is running a hell of a lot cooler then the other one. This one is running Prime95 right now @ 480 x 8.5 4GHz and a temperature of 65c on the hottest core, muchhhh better. I will push it more here in a little bit. Hoping I can set my games up on my new install and play some now, finally..
hi guys
love the overclocks
but i have a problem with my overclock
here is the specs of my rig
gigabite ep45ud3r
intel q9450 2.66 @3.5 with true extreme 120 2x silenx 120mm 90cfm fans in push pull temp 63c max with intel burn test
ocz ddr2 1066 @1055 2x2gb
asus gtx280
enermax 1kw psu
im having problems getting the cpu over 3.6 and i have took the voltage to 1.3v and i cant get is stable
i dont really know about the motherbord voltages and whats (safe) so i dont like to mess about just incase i damage the mobo i reall wanted to hit 4ghz but can i do it with air and what temp is really to high for the overclock
thanks to anyone that can help me
Try just setting your CPU voltage to 1.35 and your chipset to 1.4 and then your memory to 2.1 and leave everything else auto except the performance level and your memory strap. All of your gtls at auto at first. Mine I have noticed this for a fact now after having this motherboard for about a week now that if I set the gtls my self at first it won't boot, leave them at auto and vualua boot.
I also noticed that if I leave my memory at 1.8v it won't boot either. I think the motherboard thinks because the memory is running at 1150MHz it needs 2.1 and it won't let me boot with out it set to that. Kind of a weird thing but, whatever the memory is running cool at that voltage any way. Hope that helps.
Once you get a feel for what to set the volts to the lowest possible volts, then start setting your gtls one by one checking for stability every time you make a change until you have everything else manually set as well.
Guys I just had the weirdest issue with this board. Upping the PCI freq to 105 resulted in a continuous reboot, anyone else ever have this issue?
huh, ok, thanks guys...has anyone been able to run PL8 on 2.4B divider at or above 500FSB?
EDIT: Can someone tell me on what page the templates for 4.5GHz are, I know Ive seen a couple

ok thanks pal i will try it the other thing is what is the max temp you would push out of these cpus i dont want to burn it out i would like to keep the rig for at least 4 years if you know what i meen and i have the cpu voltage set to 1.18v and it can hit 63c with intel burn test and i think it was about 58 with prime so if i take it to 1.35 i kow it will go well over 80c what do you think
Hi folks, I intend to invest in a UD3P/UD3R Gigabyte board and just had a quick question...
Are the
UD3P and the UD3R basically the same board with different slot configuarations etc...or does one clock higher than the other:confused::confused:
Also this is important....Has anybody ever NOT been able to break 471??? (minimum Q9550 fsb for 4.0 GHZ) on either of these two boards???? or is 475-530 pretty much consistent????:rolleyes:
Cause I be gettin' this strictly for the Quad benefit
otherwise I got the two other X48's
I wanna take a Q9550 to 4.0 - maybe 4.2 GHZ
Also I need something to do this Fall......:p::p::p:
Thanks:up::up::up:
IMO, and I have a bit of experience here. The boards will clock the same. If you're not planning on running crossfire, the r will definitely do it for you.
You'll need to talk to ocnub about the q9550. He's had his well over 4000mhz. I'm sure he'll be by here before too long to give his input
You gotta feel it out a lot with this motherboard that is for sure, that is it takes some effort but, it is worth it once you unleash it's power and get all your settings set. . I just now settled at 485 x 8.5 because I am on air right now, and that is about all my Thermalright Extreme can really handle TBH. I have already begun piecing together what I will be purchasing, then I can have some more fun. I say get the board, I did.
I've run 2 different Q9550's in my UD3P, as well as numerous dual cores and a Q9650, none had ANY issue at all getting 500+ FSB 24/7 stable, all with 8GB installed :up;
I've noticed the chipset gets pretty warm on my motherboard as well with this one compared to my P5Q Deluxe that I was running. This chipset is almost as if they tweaked the hell out of it or I guess they could of just got high binned north bridges. It is a very good board though IMO.
Hi. Would Thermalright IFX-14 cooler fit the GA-UD3P without any problems?
According to TR's site, it should fit ok.
http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...cl.htm#asusp45
hi guys to anyone that is overclocking there quads over 1ghz how can you tell of your north brige and south brige is NOT overheating.
Is there anything you can use to check the temps becuse everest tells me its rinning at 55c but it does not change when under load
THANKS GUYS
Hi guys just a quick question, whats the differnce betweent the rev 1.0 and 1.1 GA-EP45-UD3P?
I can buy a used one and that is a 1.0 so that why im asking, thanks.
You should probably look in to lapping your TRUE (Heatsink). I would also consider lapping your CPU. Make sure it is a keeper first though, before lapping the CPU that is because it will then be yours forever unless you sell it on Ebay.
I am going to lap mine now I know I have a good one. Temp wise, I am pushing 81C with my 9550 with Intel Burntest. Nothing else will get it above 65C - 70C so I am not concerned with this. I would aim for temps around there mate.
well i didnt put my true on my q9650
my 26$ cool master 212 slaped it  -4-8c
thanks for that but what do you meen if its a keeper i cant afford to replase it so i will be keeping it ps how do you know if you have a good chip i get confused on how to tell.
If i run the cpu @80c in intel burn test how long will it last or will i only get a couple of years out of it i really need it to last me to be honnest but i do know if its at stock speeds its good for at least 10 years
Argh. Guys I think I made a big boo boo.
I got my heatkiller 3.0 today and I installed it immediately. So I pull the old sink, clean everything, and I install the heatkiller, fill the loop and turn it on.
tttt tick ttt tick ttick . Wierd sound coming from near cpu area..... no boot, no signal to monitor, nothing.
I turn off the fans one by one to make sure they're not doing it.
tttttick tt tick tick tick tttt tick ttttick
All fans off, still making the noise.
So I listen closer and determine it's coming from the cpu area.
Fail...
Long story short, I apparently installed the heatkiller backplate backwards.
I'm figuring that the backplate was making something short on the back of the cpu area. Even with the rubber pad.
In my defense, the rubber pad sort of snaps in place on the wrong side of the backplate. I thought it felt right so I popped it on that way.
Big mistake.
SO... I re-installed the backplate and got everything back in order. I reset cmos by pulling the battery. I powered it up.
Stock settings run fine
My overclocks no longer are stable above 4.0ghz. It won't boot at all over 4.2, with my previous settings.
So, I just ordered another ud3r from newegg. It should be here monday next week.
stupid me, should have taken my time. Heatkiller instructions didn't say or show which way it went, but I blame myself.
resho, that's unfortunate. Hope you have fun with your "new" UD3R.
for frontal sound work, have to do something?
bios or something?
plugged into the motherboard, but does not recognize when plugged the headset and microphone on the front
make sure your case's connector has all the right pins in it. there's one called "sense" I think. IIRC it's a green wire (but I may be totally off)
Also, there should be a setting in your hd audio setup (red colored speaker at bottom right of desktop) I can't remember exactly what it's called, but something one the lines of "auto detect front panel" something or other.
You are using the "hd" audio plug right? I don't know anything about the ac97 stuff.
HTH
I have a Chieftec CX-01, I think the plug it is wrong, how would I know what each saw? has nothing marked MIC2_L, GND, MIC2_R or something

As far as I know, ground is always black and always thicker gauge wire.
has this card, it is that I do not know which is which.
because the way it is, can not find anything
so I think I should be with the wrong ones

Looks like you might be missing a wire or two on the audio cable, maybe not though.
I'm really not sure where to send you to get another, if you need one. I ordered this one from here a few days ago, but I haven't gotten it yet, so I can't recommend them.
Maybe try to check that the software is enabled to allow it to connect automatically.
Hey Guys I'm back , Ive been lost messing with my DFI LP UT P35 T2R and my budget e5200 , lots of fun since the P35 tweaks so good with dual cores , but now my Udp3 needs some luv and after tweaking the P35 T2R timings , my budget system feels so much snappier even with a way lower fsb than my UDP3
can you guys take a look at my timings ans maybe give me a lil advice where to drop timmings or even if I should do maybe a BIOS UPDATE , thanx again every 1 for last time and helping me get my board rock solid

It's probably because your gtls aren't set up right. You just have to go and tweak each setting indivisualy and test every time you change a setting to see if the system is acting more stable / snappy or not until you get that perfect spot.
I have my setup as snappy as it will get set at 485 x 8.5 right now and it is pushing 58.5~ GFlops in intel burntest in 93 seconds a test and this is the best spot I seem to be able to hit right now. I still need to hone in my NB GTL though as I have it set to auto rigth now but, everything else I have tweaked to perfection.
Hmm.. I'm having problems stuffing 8 GB of RAM in my EP45-UD3. Its 2x2 GB Geil Black Dragon, and 2x2 GB OCZ Reaper.
Any ideas?
dont hold me on this but it might be becuse of the geil is single bank memory and the ocz is duel bank and it might be conflicting i dont advise anyone to use 2 different types of memory unless the speed timings voltage and banks are the same
i could be rong though
hope it helps
ps i wouldnt use geil memory to be honnist it cant be that good since it dont have a heat speader
Put the system together today a couple hours ago (delayed due to power outage in hood, tree fell 'down by the river', lol). VERY impressed with Gigabyte's quality and attention to detail, probably best manual/userguide I've seen yet for mobo. Everything went together fine with good fit and finish, just burning it in overnight before I start to tweak anything. Having a Q9450 obviously limits me but with the OCZ Blade low voltage DRAM I think I can get myself a nice, reliable, OC setup that can run 24x7.
Impossible to overstate the value of this thread in my research to replace my fried ASUS X38 mobo with this new P45-UD3R - thanks to all of you that contributed so that I could benefit. I will be sure to post my feedback as I stumble my way through my OC attempts.
Oh - and the Megahalems fits a dream in 'standard' position even equipped with two S-Flex "F" fans - great board design.
I have two more sticks of Geil, i'll try that. Didnt want to do that unless i had to, since it took me ages to get them in the waterblocks :p:
They were bought in for a watercooled rig, and where used with a waterblock - worked and performed like a cham :)
to be honnest i dont think it is worth watercooling memory enyway memory dosent really get hot unless your overclocking the nuts of it but if it 1066mhz your using i would have thught overcloking the cpu you will still be able to get at least 4ghz maybe more on stock memory speeds with the ocz reaper x mine dont even get warm under load so to be honnest your water cooling them for no reason and making the loop more complicated
thats my oppinion though :)
hope it helps but honistly i think 2x2gb ocz will be better then 4x2gb geil becuse its over priced and i notest a massive improvement with the ocz
(dude sell the geil and get some more ocz trust me)
Has anyone experienced boot issues when running high MCH and FSB? Today I was pushing 4.6Ghz on my 9650 (over 500FSB) and I would get freezes at windows screen, raising MCH (1.5ish) would get me a no boot. The only remedy I figured out was to lower MCH to (1.42ish).
I was going to say he is pushing the stock heat sink to much but, report back to say that worked if what zsamz suggested works as I would like to know if it does or not just purely for my own knowledge about the board mind you.
You can grab a set of DDR 1150MHzs like I did they are still around. I ordered them because the 1200s were gone and they run at 1200 and more with 2.1v.
if you have tried running 2.1volts at your memory in bios and it still not working i would have thught its the motherbord but try 3 slips for a laugh if that dont work i dont know what to say i have sead everything i know of sorry pal good look with it
i only say use 3 slips of memory becuse i had a asus maximus 2 formula and it worked with upto 3 sticks of memory but as soon as i put 4 stick in bsod everytime it turned out to be the motherbord just incase it is the same thing
