Is anyone seeing very high temps with these new beta bios?
I have F10d installed and CPU temps are very high.
New and updated Jmicron drivers:
ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/
yea i noticed my cpu temp went up a few degrees.. prob never really went up. just mis calibration or something.. i doubt it would make the cpu run hotter.
Gigabyte fans, please support our new home...the P35 thread, i have just pre ordered the P35-DQ6 :-)
Lots of new drivers for the DQ6 on the homepage:
http://www.giga-byte.com.tw/Support/...me=GA-965P-DQ6
FAQ for the DQ6 also updated, it seems the new drivers also support ICH9R and i *think* Gigabyte will also be using the new Jmicron JMB373 controller.
The new P-35 boards also feature a new Realtek codec, ALC889A which has 106dB S/N ratio and supports DTS connect.
The Marvell LAN chip has been replaced by a Realtek chip.
New Realtek drivers available, version 1.66:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false
New BIOS definatley increases temps - the BIOS temps are now in-line with Core temp, so i think its a case of more accurate temperature detection rather than the CPU actually running hotter.
Before I get too excited above an increase in temp I'd like Gigabyte to actually confirm the increase was actually intended and not a blunder by them.
cheers
Hello,
On ds4, if i put vmch in "normal" does it climb with the fsb or it stand still ?
If it climbs with the fsb then i should put +0.05 or +0.1 to stop it
Can anyone confirm that the latest Gigabyte BIOS (F10D) for the 965P-DQ6 contains Intel's microcode update that addresses an "improper Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB) invalidation that may result in unpredictable system behavior such as system hangs or incorrect data" ?
From what I have read, the error is extremely rare, but I was just curious :)
anyone gettin lock ups with this new bios F10D? :stick:
Please note, the Jmicron drivers have been updated once again, May 2nd 2007:
ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/W...L_R1_17_17.zip
Oh, the new Jmicron drivers just seem to be WHQL certified, still cool.
"Intel has provided a microcode update to HP as a critical software fix. This Intel microcode update addresses an improper Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB) invalidation that may result in unpredictable system behavior such as system hangs or incorrect data. HP is making available a system BIOS upgrade that integrates a new version of this Intel microcode to address this potential but extremely rare issue. While the occurrence of this issue is extremely rare, HP strongly recommends upgrading the system BIOS to a version listed in the RESOLUTION section (or later). Intel has indicated that the microcode update has no known measurable performance impact and provides a complete and comprehensive resolution to this issue.
IMPORTANT : This condition is NOT specific to HP xw4400, xw6400, xw8400 Workstations or HP Proliant xw460c Blade Workstation, and can affect any workstation that uses Intel Core2 Duo desktop processor E4000 and E6000 sequences, Intel Core2 Quad desktop processor Q6600 and Intel Core2 Extreme processors X6800 and QX6700 processors. It is not restricted to HP systems and can occur on other manufacturers’ Intel-based systems."
You can read about it here.
lockups as in if i m doing multiple things at one time. simetimes vista will get stuck vista x64... i dunno if its just a vista thing.. or wut.. but it wont be a complete lock out. say i m listening to an mp3. i could still use my mouse and hear the mp3. just cant click anything.. strange........ :slapass:
What do you all use for the memory performance option -
Normal, Fast or Turbo?
And can it limit your overclocks if Fast or Turbo mode is selected?
Official F5 bios for Revision 2.0 + 3.3 for the 965P-DS3P:
http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Moth...S&FileID=12712
I set it to normal, because increasing the FSB increases the DDR2 frequency anyways.
So 425FSB = DDR2 850MHz (425x2), never tried setting it to anything but normal so not sure if it effects overclocking the CPU, i assume memory performance to turbo etc. most overclock the memory and as such the FSB.
When you change for example from normal to turbo mode there is no visable increase in fsb or mhz, on the memory side, but memory performace is better when turbo is selected.
I don't really know what it changes but it is something unseen in the bios.
I suppose it tightens the chipset timings a little.
Hi , guys please help me !
I bought a new components ;
1- Gigabyte ds3P rev 3.3
2- E6420
3- 2x1gb geil ddr 800 ultra series
Everything is fine till 8x400 = 3200 mhz default vcore and 4-4-4-12 ,2T 2.1 v dimm .... but I can't go higher :( .. I'm using latest bios of DS3P>> F5 .. Can you give me a little tricks of this boards .. My target is 3400 ~ 3500 mhz .. please help ..
Thanks a lot .
What are your voltages?, CPU etc?
cpu vcore = default (1.350)
ram voltage = 2.1 ddr 800 4-4-4-12 2T ( by the way, I can't find 1T options )
eh... intel board no 1T options? :X
Lazi, the default is 2T...only the 680i boards support 1T and adjustments.
Vera...default Vcore and you're getting 3.2GHz?...pretty damn good. Try upping the Vcore, go in baby steps until you attain Orthos stability.
Try 425x8=3.4GHz. Try 1.4V Vcore....also the DDR voltage, you'll only need 2.0V.
Its not just you
Read this. It should correct it. It did for me.

Has anyone noticed that Gigabyte has the 11B bios for the DS3 listed on the website. I assume it means it's an official beta in the RC status.
Clearly states it's a beta with the only fix being "Support Intel E6420 & E6320 CPU". No mention about the way it detects the cpu temp or anything else.
First time I've seen a beta bios listed in the official bios list.
cheers
The probably needed to release a beta quick for said CPU support.
I'm using F10d and in my tests in spare time, I found I cannot overlock as usual using manual voltage settings. I have to set main voltage setting to Auto...in this way I have a chance to overlock.
My feeling with F10d bios are auto settings that works better and better recovery system from bad settings. Now it's seems is less usual clear cmos.
But at the end, in my case, if i not use auto voltages i cannot overclock...and also if operating system and applications starts well, sometimes some quick lockup or strage crashing happens, and in that cases i think more volts than auto should helps.
anyone had issues using 4x1gb on the DQ6? My motherboard just seems to reboot even more than usual... And my Audigy doesnt work anymore :S, but I think thats a creative problem...
New final BIOSs for-
S3 - F9
DS3 - F11
DS4 - F9
DQ6 - F10
now available.
cool. makes me want to take out my ds3 again, but i dont know.
Gonna do the very final flash for the 965-DQ6, i've already sold my board for €155 and the brand new P35-DQ6 will be arriving tomorrow.
Just gonna flash to F10 for the new owner, so from tomorrow on i will no longer be posting in this thread, you'll find me over at the Gigabyte P35 thread.
Many thanks to everyone who's posted and followed this thread, think it's one of the longest ever.
...and same problem overclocking as F10d beta.
My problem is that i cannot use manual voltages. In my tests, sometimes system starts with voltages set on "manual" and voltages set by me(same i used with no problem with F9), but after i shutdown, the morning after the boot fail.
When boot fail, often i noticed that system does boot and continue to load windows, but i get no signal from monitor and some fans in the case run at 100%...i suppose vga fan and maybe cpu fan.
In this situation if i press Cancel at right moment and wait the right time, system enter in bios even if i can see nothing.
So i move with arrow keys to "Load Optimize Defaults" or "Load Fail Defaults", F10, yes, and the reboot after video signal is back with all at default.
I anyone have suggestions about any "secrets" on this new bios....
Since the F11 bios for DS3 is finally officialy launched on gigabyte, could you guys post here the full changelog. :)
On the gigabyte site, they only mention this:
1. Fix PCI-E overclock issue
2. Support Intel E6420 & E6320 CPU
Peace out :D
Well, i´ve updated the BIOS from F10 to F11.
The first impression is not very good, with the F10 BIOS i was 460x7, now with the F11 it just fails to boot... :(
here´s my setup:
E6400
DS3 rev 1.0 C2
CellShock 6400
What do they mean by "Fix PCI-E overclock issue " ?
Do we not have to force 100mhz anymore ?
Do we not have to up the pci-x voltage anymore ?
Do we not have to set 105-110mhz if there are video problems ?
Just leave it on auto from now on ?
lots of questions :p:
I installed the F11 official , reported motherboard temperature is much higher .
Didn't play with settings yet .
Funny but weird my temperature report normally like usual on F9. But there's 1 thing for sure that I don't need to set pci-e speed to 100mhz since F8. It's auto on both the speed and voltage.
Anyone using Sub-zero cpu cooling with their DS3?
I just got my Vapo LS mounted on my E6600 and DS3 and it boots up fine. Still just using stock settings and all overtemp protections turned on.
My problem is with the temps... From reading these forums I know that 965 mobos and C2Ds won't show negative temps. Only down to 0C.
But I'm getting these temps with the evap showing -50C:
CoreTemp 0.94: Stuck at +12C
Bios: +60-62C
I have checked that I have proper contact between the evap and CPU.
Well I flashed with the new F11 bios. I've noticed only a slight increase (1-2 degrees) in cpu temp compared to core temp. CPU temp now shows 36C and coretemp 42C almost identical to the F7 bios I was using.
+1 Here!! My CPU idle/load Temp increased 2C with New DS4 F9
Has anyone else have problems cold booting their DS3s at high speeds?
When I was on aircooling it had no problems cold booting at 430x8 and 1.5V.
Now when I'm on phase it won't cold boot any higher than 410x9 and 1.6V. Then I can use softFSB to get to 432x9 which will run Orthos stable for 8h.
I can do warm boots at that speed no problem but as soon as it shuts down it won't restart...
Any ideas?
did you try 1.59375 or whatever lower vcore?
Well, the cpu needs 1.6V to do 3.88GHz stable...
But you mean it might be the Vcore that's causing problems?
Gonna try to play around a bit with it!
I have a DS3 rev 3.3 which came with the F10 BIOS just wondering if its worth upgrading to F11?
Voltage wise my DS3 is poor I set 1.35625V in BIOS and idle I get ~1.325V load I get ~1.31-~1.29V, does F11 do anything to help this?
Hi, Mates!
Gave F10 for DQ6 v1.0 a shot, and as always, the later then F6 bioses lower performance a tiny bit. Even with turbo ram settings and a clear latency and bandwith advantage for F10, it still doesent quite catch up with F6 in 3dmark2001..
On the upside, this bios allow me to run ram 1:1 @972mhz 5-5-5-15 2.1v at turbo settings 7x486, witch was broken in F6. And this improves latency and bandwith a tad.
CPU coretemp seems a little lower then F6, and E6600@3.4ghz 1.344v (1.3750 in bios) is 10h+ orthos stable.
Most of the benchmarks later then 3dmark01 is as fast as the F6 bios, so this one is a keeper for now.
Got a 44504 point score in 3Dmark2003 with a single XFX8800GTX 630m XXX@648/2106 and E6600@3.4ghz (486x7 1:1) all at 24/7 stable settings.
Help me out Guys :(
I wrongly flashed a 965G-DS3 bios on a 965P-DS3 board, and now it acts erratic, but when i try to flash back the correct one, it says the ID is not correct! I need to bypass the ID, how should i do that?
i think the old windows flasher can do it. if you use the dos program, try some different flags to force it. -f /f etc
which software are you using to monitor the temperature on windows?
I got TAT and Coretemp, they both show the same.
Easytune shows 10° less than TAT and Coretemp.
thanks in advance
Everest 4.0 shows correct core#1 and core#2 temps, it also finally gives a correct reading of the +12v, took them a while, but better late then never.
Where that CPU sensor that Gigabyte reads from is located, I'm not sure of, but ignore it. Everest shows it aswell, but forget about it, core#1&2 reading is what most ppl are using. TAT and Coretemp will do just fine..
By old windows flasher do you mean @Bios software from Gigabyte?
Already tryed it, doesnt allow me too, it now detects the board as a 965G, and only allows that kind of bios :(
The dos program, i write /help to see the commands, i use the command to overwrite it, when trying to flash it simply hangs!
Im screwed right?
I did some further testing on my E6600 with the new F10 DQ6 bios, and just finished a 12h Orthos run at 500x7 3.5ghz 1000mhz RAM 1:1 5-5-5-15.
The everest idle corevolt is 1.38v, and after droop it stays at 1.36v during the Orthos run. While I'm desperately waiting for the Ultra120 Extreme/Ultima90, this was done on AC Freezer Pro, and temps never went over 55C.
Seems my E6600 is a pretty decent chip..
Dont know who/what ever to believe, some guys said that the Gigabyte memory is a "mess", memory wont o/c and compability problems, Thats why I ordered ASUS P5K deluxe, after some readings, I realize that the Asus cooling really sucks, MOSFETS getting very hot, and they got some RAID probs, I am using a pair of Mushkin XP8500(D9MGH) is there anyone who can confirm it will work with the Gigabyte, atm that is holding me back to pick Gigabyte, I got to know today, So i can change my order tomorrow (last date), because I already payed :X So Any help much much much appreciated!!!
I think you're better off w/ any P35 motherboard, like my P5K Deluxe. I've had 2 DS3's, still using a rev. 3.3, and this a better motherboard in so many ways. The memory timings/bandwidth are amazing. And I don't know who has problems w/ temps, but I don't.
With plane old Crucial Ballistix pc2-6400 (800), I'm getting almost 10,00MB/s read, latency of 52ns, @ 1104 speed, normal voltage.
Currently just drifting along at 460x7=3.2.
Yea oke but did u do some active cooling? are the MOSFET not hot ?
No extra cooling, just stock. All stock/auto voltages, except vdimm and vcpu.
F12 for the DS3 is now on jzelectronic.de
"1. Fix E4300 FSB266 mit PC800".
"Dynamic clock lowering" , how is that option called in the bios ?
I might try the F12 too , but don't see it yet on the gigabyte website .
eist/speedstep/c1e
Hello everyone, I'm new here, and I'd be very gratefull if you answer me on some questions
I've gor DS4 rev 3.3, and I'm constantly having problems with my memory: 2gb kit Cellshock pc-6400, max I can get (not very) stable is porr 931 @ 5-5-5-15, and in friends pc it can go as high as 1200 at same timings...
And the other thing is that i' ve got fsb wall on my e4300 at 354mhz, anything can i do about it?
Thanks very much, in advance!
At my friends for 1200 a give 2.45v @ 5-5-5-15
Jeez the DS3 is giving some weak memory clocks for me. Just got a 2x512mb kit of Ballistix PC8000 and they are hitting a wall around 520mhz in dual channel and 550mhz in single. I was able to do 550mhz 4-4-3-5 w/ tight sub timings and 2.40v. Tried 5-5-5-15 w/ loose subtimings 2.4V and couldn't break 550mhz again...
Loads of New bios out from gigabyte today. DQ6 F11 Final. anyone care to decode what super IO means ?
cpu temps changed now more like coretemp.
Overclocked Keyboards
glad to see another BIOS. Will test tonight :)
edit: where do you see F11 bios for P35-DQ6?
Wow, I'm loving this F12 bios. No cold boots, I can now overclock at 3.2ghz with 1.4v. I used to do 3.2ghz at 1.44v. I use e4300 and ds3 3.3
what super IO?!
Wow, my max cas 3 clock is only 50mhz higher than my max cas 5 clocks!
vMCH: 1.68V vDIMM 2.82V
http://mysite.verizon.net/vzew5de9/s...ctures/500.jpg
Flashed ti DS4 F10 everything is ok but I dont try any OC yet
Updates in F10 :
1.QFlash version updated to 2.02
2.fixed 120mm CPU fan issue finally
Select Load optimised options... saved...flash F10 bios...reboot...no boot...short cmos...no boot...take out everything...install back...no boot...DS4 going RMA...Asus P5K coming Monday...End.
i've flashed F12 bios for DS3 rev 3.3
C1 is not working for me while overclocking , also the other cpu option in the ctrl + F1 menu (where you can select cruise -- full thrust) is still making my pc hang .
Cpu still needs same voltage as before . memory +0.4 still makes my board go into a boot loop .
So basically no improvements that i can see in overcloking nor stability .
Why isn't gigabyte not giving a changelog along with a new bios , at least then you can go look if it's better or not .
I mean super I/O ?
Sounds like issues with your board. I disable C1 so cannot comment on that. I have no problems with control-F1, never had. Also, using .4 here I have no problems with that either. I was able to drop from 1.47v to 1.45v at
3616 overall, great bios no problems and same overclock with less volts!
I agree that they need a more comprehensive changelog.
Flash to F10 after 4 day I noticed that CPU Temp increased 4-5C in idle and load C1E EIST TM2 is enabled ... no OC test yet ... I think its bad BIOS!
Just updated from F3 to F10 on a Gigabyte DS4. Whoa what a diffrence, theres so many new options!!
Im trying to search around on XS, but if anyone has the link to hand IIRC there was a Gigabyte DSx tweaking thread somewhere...?
well, I had some problem with boot in f8. I have 2 ata100 HDD and 2 ata DVDs so I have extra pci ide ata100 card. F8 very often stop before boot. I think it has problem with recognizing hdds attached by pci ide card It finds all hdd and dvd but don't boot just stop after recognizing. I had the same problem on F7 and F8. F4, F6, F9 , F10 works fine. So i use F9 now. Maybe in F9 temp is higher but my CPUFAN works the same with F6 and F9. I don't "hear" difference between F6 and F9.
Everyone I have run into a brick wall on my DS3.
I cannot overclock my E6600 above 3402MHz no matter what FSB/Multi combination I try. Anything above 3402MHz freezes at the post. Around 3500MHz I get a cycle on/off and reset.
My E6600 can run 3400MHz at 1.4V under load, so I doubt I reached the chip's max - because I have once had a Rev1.0 board that ran the E6600 at 3.6GHz before I had to RMA it, in which I ended up getting this Rev3.3 board.
I'm using PC26400 Ballistix so RAM is not holding me back, and I have a HR-05 on the northbridge so that's running well. My BIOS is F12?
Any help/suggestions?
