Yeah I tested another PSU. Withouth the CPU the NB fans spins and I get two reds and a yellow light in the BIOS lights... I'm gonna check what it means... I apreciatte more help... :)
Your vcore needs to be that high? With this config I ran 32MB Superpi at 2600mhz default vcore...

Infortunantly that's mu guess too. Now... the question is... what is dead... CPU or MBO? I really though it was the mbo until the fans worked when I took the CPU off... now I don't know... any guess?

Nukke: If I were to guess, it would only be a guess :) I do not think it is possible to tell which it is without testing.
And yes Nukke, if I lower my vcore it is not stable. Maybe this is due to another factor I am not considering *shrug*.
I have another quick question for everyone. In my above post I have my OC details. Is it generally considered better for the 64s to simply get the HT as high as possible, or would it be better for me to lower it a bit, to get the memory ratio better? I have heard many say that pure cpu speed is more important than mem bandwidth, and I am running at 2 2 6 2 anyway right now, but I am unsure.

Thanks for the response. Actually with the HyperX I was only able to get the cpu to 220 or so. The ram I have in now is some cheap GamerPro :) I am not running 1:1 though. I have the ram set to 133. I wish I was able to raise the HT even more so the memory would end up being closer to 200, but it is unstable with anything higher. As far as the auto settings, my timings are on auto, but as mentioned, the speed is dropped to 133.Quote:

I am not sure if I am going to keep this ram, I am technically just borrowing it for now. Strange that I cannot get my HyperX better even dropping everything.
I need to go back again and stress everything individually to make sure it is whats holding me back. I am thinking about buying completely new ram. maybe 2x1024 but I know if I ask 20 people I will get 20 different answers on what would be best for this board ;) Any thoughts?
Maybe I will give the HyperX another go. Any other special settings you have I could try? Maybe I was doing something wrong.

oh really? wow.. so u mean even on the 1.36b bios, anything above VID 1.50v does not work?? ive been running VID 1.55v + xxx for quite some time now.. :rolleyes:
As long as you run + X.X% you'll get above 1.5. But running without the %s you cant go above 1.5vcore. Thats what I meant. Apart from that I really dont wonna be wise on these vcore settings. Its quite different from the AI7/P4 NW setup I come from... :confused:
I dont need above 1.4 so I just go with 1.5 :p:
On another note; what can I do to get the last 10MHz on the FSB? My CPU is capable of 2700MHz... (running HTT=3 ofcourse)
I wanna thank all your help. I tested it today... the CPU is fine... the mbo is not. I think I found the problem: the mbo will only boot if I disconnect the auxiliar 4 pins energy cable near the cpu. When it is connected... the fans work for half a second and then they shut down. I don't know what else can I do... I guess I'll have to RMA it...

Hi, I have a msi neo2 platinum and a ocz ps 470w, i want buy a twinmos UTT memory but i have a question, which is the max vdimm with ocz ps? I think up to 3.2v or more.

Nukke: You are connecting the CPU fan to the actual CPU fan connector, and not just the other connector next to it right? I have read many times that you have to use the specific CPU connector or you will have problems (like you described).
The max vdimm for the Neo2 has nothing to do with the PS. The max vdimm without a vdimm mod or OCZ Booster is only 2.85v.Quote:

BTW, just tesing out another 3200+ S939 (week 0505) atm...
So far so good, running it at 240x10 @ 1.55-1.57 volts...
So far I have been priming for over 16-17 hours without a hitch...
I've been through 4 x 3200+, 3 x 3500+ plus 5 K8N Neo2 mobo but have yet to get a winner...
The best I have done is 2.7Ghz (or thereabouts, unstable as hell though), otherwise I have do 10x235 (had 10x240 on my older 0451 3200+) but that was still not 100% stable....
Will have to wait another 30-48 hours for my DFI SLI-D/PowerColor X850XT/92mm Tornado to arrive before I can try & have some serious fun...
Man I'm getting anxious waiting for these parts to arrive... Then we'll see if it's these boards or the CPU that's holding me back...

Either the ANTEC which only has 24a on the +12v line or an ENERMAX 460w (with 33a on the +12v rail)...
Should I just go the whole hog & get meself a PowerStream 520w (hope it's 24 pin, I've forgotten if it's a 20 or 24 pin...

I have seen a few people ask this, but never saw too many answers..
Is there a particular brand/model of memory that seems to work best with this board for overclocking? I have tested out some of my HyperX PC3500 and some GamerPro PC3200, and neither just let me push them very far at all.
I am thinking either 2x512 or 1x1024 depending on price. Any thoughts?
I also considered getting one of the boosters everyone has been talking about. They look good.
guys need help here. my mobo cant disabled Cool n Quite. i disabled it in bios and core center but my fan still wont run at full speed. when iddling the fan rotated at 3.9k and when full load at 4.9k. i tried bios 1.36mod, 1.51 and currently 1.41mod still having the same problem. i already update my corecenter to the latest vers. yet still have this fan speed problem.

just plug your fan to system fan 1 or 2 on mobo
Hi all, been reading round here for a while with great interest. Heres my first post.
I have recently got an A643200 + MSI Neo2 Plat.
I have some 3200VX to go with this and a DDRBooster.
But no matter how hard I try, I simply cannot get these modules to perform like everyone else on the damn planet!
After a lot of hassle and tinkering about, thanks to this site, I have got it running 257(HTT3) with the divider 166 (which gives 214mhz) 2,2,2,5 with just around 3.1/3.2v. I ran memtest #5 and it comes up with a couple errors per pass, but wont error everytime! I think this has something to do with the vdimm fluctiating, but I'm not entirely sure.
Now, if say, I run a speed that the memory cant cope with, like 220 2,2,2,5 with 3.1v it will return errors, but when I raise the VDIMM to more, it will return even more errors! Thousands at a time. Not sure whats going on there...I've never put anymore than 3.6v through the dimms. Measured with a multimeter on the back of the Booster. I have 2 80mm fans positioned over the memory slots.
I've tried different BIOS versions (136mod, 137mod and 1.5 official)to see if that helps and so far, it hasn't :(
I'm not a noob to overclocking but this is my first attempt at trying it with A64's.
Can someone with VX let me know exactly what timings they have set and at what voltage and bios revision on their Neo2, because I'm completely stumped as to why these chips arent performing (theyre supposedly brand new from an RMA, they looked it when I recieved them). I know they arent rated at those speeds but when theres a lot of talk about it on these forums, I cant help thinking that I somehow have a dodgy pair of modules.
I'm sorry this has been a long post, but I've been at this for a long time and really would like to get these modules performing like they should. Anyone?
