lol bad..
lol bad..
I really hate to keep asking, but What happend to MAL - MAx Async Latency setting in bios?? do we no longer need it or is it adjusted elsewhere?
is this no longer an important factor in overclocking or is it somehow self adjusting?
Bank transfer sorted :D
For the Anfi-tech blocks.
TRFC is what you will gauge that by
Yes, but from my experience it's impossible to control it since Phenom has a variable setting for it. Sometime it's lower, other time it's high. If you happen to be on the low default side and you set it lower via that RAM program, the next boot up you might not be able to get into Windows because the Phenom defaults to a higher MAL, but is forced to load the lower setting at start up.
To go short, it's like impossible to control that setting. Shame though since that could gain a lot of performance left and right:(
THANK YOU!!! Thats the answer that I was trying to get to.
On my 6400+BE I was able to pick up quite a bit of speed by taking it from 7ns to 9ns and gained overclocking capability.
So the Phenom varies it depending on other settings, which Brother Esau is saying is gauged by TRFC? or is it somehow calculated based on the FSB vs various multipliers (HTT & NB)?
I dont really know:shrug: I think the K10 has some dice's inside and just picks a number:p: I dont understand how that latency could be different if you've picked solid timings and clockspeeds, maybe it's something more clock-cycle related, like it picks a specific clock (cycle) and it's using that to calculate the MAL. However, that would sort of mean certain clock cycles are highlighted to be different, which begins to sound pretty weird:p:
I only had two glasses of Mastika, so Im sober-ish still, I dont really know.
Hello!
Sitting with my new DFI LanParty 790FXB M2RSH and have a question about a certain setting in BIOS
CPU Host/HTT Adjust Gap Min: 1, Max: 255
What is this all about? At stock it was set to "247" and I left it there. Should I even bother with this/what exactly does it do...?
EDIT: I can't change the Northbridge multiplier. I set it to x8, and i set HyperTransportLink to x8 aswell. Only the HT Link gets lowered, and the NB clock won't budge at all, and I think thats what causing my instability issues. Anyone else had this problem? I have the latest BIOS installed
LOL!!!! Well Rammsteiner, thank you so much, as that was the explanation that I was looking for. I don't know near enough as I should and I'm learning as I go, thank you for your time and thoughts!
I probably need to do a LOT of reading on how all these new CPU and motherboards work, but I bet by the time I figure it out, they change it again.
I am taking the time to post a PM sent to me from D.F.I as I wish to show that my concerns as well as others on this forum are being Acknowledged by D.F.I Taiwan.
Wow I didn't even know DFI was on the forums. Doesn't sound like your problems are going to get fixed.
I'll take it as a positive , sincere and honorable effort:) the fact that D.F.I broke their code of silence and actually communicated with me directly in regards to this says allot. But we shall see! I have always been a D.F.I endorser and supporter so it really saddened me to have to post what I did but as long as this is been going on I feel that I had every right! Its not like I am a kid flying off on a tangent because I can't get 4ghz:rolleyes: I have been using D.F.I Boards for a long time now and I know what I am doing, I feel that my concerns are very legitimate and warranted in every respect with my vocalized opinion on this matter. Now lets hope that we see some action on this serious issue and I think we will considering this would be in their best interest lets forget about anything else.
lol campbell BUT I WANT 4GHZ ON THIS BOARD xD hehe
no, seriously, i think its positive as well. And i hope they wont let the m2r down that early and still work on the biosses..
honestly, the DFI Bios is of comparable if not better quality then its competitor's ASUS for example, but that is well known i think...
Whatever, i wont spam that email with "i cant get 4ghz" - mails ;) these things are more complicated, as my voltage measurements have been shown as well... Its not all that easy..
Whatelse, one of my forumdeluxx-colleagues is currently testing my 920 on his ASUS M2A32-MVP SB600 MB and it clocks similar with similar cooling. He will continue to test it on a Jetway HA07 Ultra SB750 mobo afterwards.. I dont think that there is a problem with overclocking on the m2r anymore now...
For D.F.I Bios to be comparable to ASUS or anyone Else's is a insult at least if I were D.F.I I would interpret it that way. The Main reason people buy D.F.I Boards is because of the workmanship in the Bios Code and the built quality. If its the same or comparable as anyone else Board what incentive does anyone have to buy D.F.I Boards? That's the whole point!!
I totally understand. I just wrote to make clear that moving onto another company would not be a solution at all..
but i want a bios that lets me get the juice out of my board in the end... i buy dfi for reliable and effective tweaking of my hardware... and campbell your blown CPUs are scary at least...
btw do we know something about DFI AM3 Boards?
Thats true but I do not expect this from D.F.I of all companies thats also the point/ I am trying to get results not band aides olli
Check PM Olli
I just noticed tRas of 15 now available with beta 1/21 bios, yay!!!!
on another note, my Phenom is now running comfortably @3.9 gig (straightforward 19.5 x 200) @1.472v, did a Wprime 32bit last night before retiring, 9.522 seconds, it flies!!!!!
seems to be a whole lot easier to run comfortably @3.9 gig than when first installed and now gently abused....maybe they age like fine wine????
laterzzzzzz..............
maybe.. i felt something like this with my 920.. first it needed 1,55v for 3,64g, later 1,508v was enough..
also, the 01/21 is indeed better then the 01/16. i run 1066 divider with tras 15 also.. but the things brother esau writes what has happened to his two chips is scary... voltage table issues...
I will flash to 01/21 this weekend but no voltage increases until BIOS is tested. Have to sort out my RAM 1066 issues first then just OC at stock volts.
Thank you Brother, and I will take any communication to DFI as positive.
