from what I understand about Mantle, it's just a different API available to the game developer... they can decide to use it, or don't
you can render your game on Mantle, OpenGL or DirectX... if your card is based on GCN, then the game can use Mantle, if it's not, then will use OpenGL, DirectX... how can Mantle affect negatively an Nvidia card then, if the card doesn't support Mantle??? The game will just render in DirectX / OpenGL
developed independently, individually. its own api, for proper access to its hardware. done by those developing the games. not those developing the "standards"
how is this any different, then how nvidia implemented the way its meant to be played. and physX , paying obviously greater then 8M in the process of that.
besides. nvidia doesn't care about this market. they say, consoles, their for the majority of gamers. mean nothing to them anymore. only mobile market and extreme enthusiasts.
yo , I'm an owner of AMD HD 7990 Card, did I say good things about Nvidia in my reply? or clapped my hand for its mistakes?...put on your glasses ..cause I didn't do that, and by the way tessellation is supported by both sides, did you forget what AMD did about Tessellation when its previous generation HD5000 was out, when each game supported Tes. released AMD was SOOOOOO PRoud of its work..and that's its right cause it was best back then and now when Nvidia came to do the same thing ..you say it like it's some kind of wrong behavior...simply AMD did it before and Nvidia did Later..the difference between your reply and mine..is that I talked about both companies with their Neg.Pos. yet you only spooked about Nvida Neg..which make you a NOOB
That's my final reply about this matter, cause we are off the main subject...-_-
I have a suggestion.
We are looking to fill in some areas with staff to moderate this crap :D. You wouldn't get the ban hammer the first day but at least you could kick people out of this section that do no belong.
PM me if you are interested.
If you're going to blame anyone for Mantle, I'd blame Microsoft. Microsoft have made card maker lives difficult by tying new DX revisions to unpopular OS's, no one cares for Win8 or Win8.1, and Microsoft don't really care for windows gaming. Do you really think Microsoft couldn't have built Mantle? We've been on DX11 for four years, while we were only on DX9 for about three.
When they built DX10 they wiped the slate clean, DX9 and DX10 were held totally apart, Microsoft could have done the same again with DX12 made an even cleaner API, making Nvidia and AMD follow their lead.
Delay? That would imply that AMD planned to release the new GPUs back in February?
AMD and NVIDIA's release cycles aren't syncronised, that doesn't mean either is delayed. Delayed implies it was meant to be released sooner.
The fanboyism and borderline flaming in this thread is getting out of hand, I foresee several news section bans in the near future...
is the official release date tomorrow? Dont know if i should get it or stick to my GTX 780, love the 780 and the drivers, Ive had issues with AMD's drivers before.....hmmm I have this sickness, anytime a newer better video card comes out, i have to have it.
I would, at least before March.
Custom/OCed 280x's will take up most of the $300-$399 market and with some of those cards nipping at the heels of GTX780, there wouldn't be much room to squeeze a longterm Hawaii LE, if R9 290(Hawaii PRO) is ~$449-$499 and is roughly GTX780 performance. Obviously that might change as the market changes...
Remember, ideally, you shouldn't be binning very many of those chips if you are hitting your projected yields. It usually takes a good number of months for them to build enough inventory to release, especially since they need a decent supply if they intend to sell them for awhile since they are usually priced extremely competitively compared to the rest of the market.
Yesssss yes yessss, because a thread about Ati GFX should be cleared of those ati fans ...Quote:
Take out a dozen or so ATi fanboys and it's all good again.
Trueaudio is not any breakthrough yea, but audio capabilities from vista forward were cut by the balls ,and noone since then made anything in terms of HW accelerated 3d sound! So in that regard IT IS VERY IMPORTANT DUDE!Sound capabilities on PC gaming SUNK from vista :[, ANYBODY trying to do something about it should be applauded! If it will be successful nvidia will follow and the rest. And it IS being implemented in some game engines, its not hot air technology :-) .I really urge you to read about it before takin the hammer down on it.Quote:
Come on man!! You are joking !! Tell me you're joking !! are you sure that true audio is a new technology? true audio just a propaganda . if you believe that mantle is here to develop games and support Game developers to make things better? than You are very wrong. mantle found only in order to knock out the competitor (nvidia) and not like what AMD said " Mantle is found and supported to provide best solution to game developers which lead to new experience in games"......this is rubbish. you can return to some of AMD statements that said " when BF4 works through Mantle,Titan well be a joke" when you hear such words do you think they are after support for game developers or to break their only competitor, this won't be understood by anyone except for those who have been following the story from its beginning (Mantle). there is a difference between winning with your own work and winning by breaking others with unfair methods.
Mantle, again, you probably didnt read the in depth articles about it.
1st thing first, it wont break anything for anyone! As it is just ANOTHER (apart from DX11) way of utilising ATI cards. There will be BOTH.DX11 for NV and Ati, and Mantle for ATI.Games utilising Mantle (which will be pretty rare i would imagine) will be more compatible and run faster on it, thats all.
2nd thing, no features will be added, its just a more optimal way of doing THE SAME things, thats in a stark contrast to physx, which FORBIDS some actual eye candy on ati cards! So whos the bad guy here ?
And 3rd, PROBABLY, it will mean faster reaction times of developers and catalyst team with any games that dont work optimal on some ati hardware.Thats GOOD.
AMD CANT break NV in any way with this, they just get the leg up frame rate wise in those titles, they PAY for it with development time and money, all for more optimal usage of cards that WE pay for.AND, NV can make just the same thing. And they probably will.
Who wins on all this ? We, both NV and AMD fans (fanboiz are always losers it seems).
Let me repeat that clearly, AMD IS NOT BREAKING NV compatibility in any way!Not more than the nvidias "the way its meant to be played" program has.(and probably a lot less).
Thats whats im waiting (and hoping) for, Hawaii LE, maybe with 384bit bus, but trueaudio enabled.Quote:

I'm enthusiastic that this thread will be restored to its intended focus. I encourage discussion and speculation, and comparison to the Gtx Titan which may be this generation of cards competition in a technical aspect. Please refrain from arguing in the news section especially about matters that do not directly pertain to the article or focus of the thread.
I DO however invite these discussions to be taken to appropriate sections of this forum, as long as proper respect is shown for all participants.
This will be my last post on the matter in this thread.
Because Tesla sells for more. They could have released GeForce cards, but that wouldn't be as profitable as selling them as Tesla.
Developer resources can be very limited.
If a game is made for consoles, and porting it to Mantle is straightforward, then Mantle version may end up being well-developed, and generic DirectX / OpenGL one - not so much.
But I guess we have to wait and see.
If we follow the latest releases from AMD, we find that their usual products reached the market between late December and beginning of January.
AMD is rather late. In January this year, when they left the rumored launch of the partners was a note saying that AMD did not launch anything because they had their warehouses crowded GCN. Remember that?
This is not fanboy conversation, it is a reality. AMD is delayed.
You can be only late if you announced you will be there earlier, at least in roadmaps meant for clients.
Maybe i dont understand your post, but i think you meant that in january this year they didnt launch anything. However they werent meant to on the same node.Nodes are late.AMD`s cpu division seems to be always late. But hawaii launch is hardly late. Its more of a surprise in all as "late".
AMD Confirms Radeon HD 8000 Delay
AMD Radeon HD 8000 series could be delayed until Q2 2013
AMD Changes Radeon Graphics Roadmap, Delays New Product Launches Till Late 2013.
The delay was more than characterized. :)
I dunno, perhaps they're just as annoying as those nVidiots who keep on blabbering about how insignificant AMD graphic products are, how they are so damn late, how :banana::banana::banana:ty loud, how broken those drivers are, how useless true audio and Mantle API are, how EVIL an API that can optimise & differentiate a graphic card is, etc etc. In an AMD graphic card thread nonetheless ......
But perhaps your glasses are too green colored to see that clearly & impartially ..... :ROTF:
Here are several UPCLOSE pics of the 290X

^ like i said AMD probably needs something in between the 280x and 290... ^
but the way they price it could solve that. a $399 Hawaii would be a nice solution.
so not tomorrow? this week?
according to that article from Videocardz I posted, the date will PROBABLY be the 18th.
