Why can't we find this "official information straight from AMD" at anywhere besides... Tweaktown?

"Saimme juuri hetki sitten vahvistettua virallisen tiedon suoraan AMD:lta, että Cayman-grafiikkapiiriin perustuvat Radeon HD 6950- ja 6970-näytönohjaimet myöhästyvät alkuperäisestä julkaisupäivämäärästä, joka oli 22. marraskuuta. Uusien näytönohjainten virallinen julkaisu tulee tapahtumaan viikolla 50 eli 13. - 19. joulukuuta."
"We just confirmed straight from AMD that Cayman-based Radeon HD 6950- and 6970 GPUs will be delayed from the original date of 22. November. The launch of the GPUs will happen week 50, i.e. 13.-19. December"
So it seems AMD just wanted people to know they're still releasing this year rather than let the rumors fly.
I thought on B3D you said GTX 580 was trading blows with Cayman PRO aka 6950?
Was that based on some information or were you guessing?
Anyway from AMD's slides it doesn't look like 6950 could match 580 - that would make 6970 very comfortably over HD5970 which the slides disagree with
Please AMD make them scale well with ln2 and have a quadfire driver ready to go at launch for 3dmark ownage :D:D
Then the rumored press conference in Beijing on the 29th could be right.
If this is correct, the delay is only about 1 week:

Another rumor.
KitGuru says: "AMD HD6970 guaranteed to beat GTX580, according to sources."
They also promised to have more info in less than 12 hours
AMD Radeon 6900 series - something to bite into after 13th of December?
Quote:
Some glorious news has come to me in the form of glittery, amazing text on MSN from our own Shane Baxtor VGA reviewer extraordinaire.
Demand for the ATI Radeon HD 5800 series continues to be very strong, the ATI Radeon HD 5970 remains the fastest graphics card in the world and the
newest members of the AMD graphics family, the AMD Radeon HD 6850 and HD 6870, have set new standards for performance at their respective price
points, and are available in volume

With this in mind, we are going to take a bit more time before shipping the AMD Radeon HD 6900 series. As of today, the NDA lift for information relating to the AMD Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6970 will be the week of December 13th. We will be providing additional information on these products, including the exact date and time of the NDA lift along with samples in the weeks prior to launch.
This is direct from AMD - get your paws into it and start saving those dollars for just another month now!
So their current range is doing brilliant somehow means that we have to struggle with December (pre Christmas) deliveries hence not finding us until Q1 2011. I get it now .
Dec 13? Yawn
Once again from Charlie:

IT'S THAT TIME of year again, yes, November, time for new high end GPUs to bloom. Luckily, ATI, sorry, AMD, is right on schedule. Cayman samples are now at AIBs.
Yes, you heard it right, some AIBs have Cayman chips now, and if everything else holds true to form, they should be on the store shelves across the world in 2-4 weeks. The kits come with a Cayman and some 6Ghz GDDR5, so the memory clocks will end up between 5.5-6GHz.
There are a lot of really bad rumors going around the net right now so be careful what you believe. The two things that we know are true is the memory speed and that barring a last second glitch, you will be buying them before Dec 1. Everything else should be taken with a glacier sized grain of salt.
Who is right? Let's see..... ;)
lol, according to charlie,
nvidia wont have the 580 out for a few more months
and ati has the 6900s out to everyone weeks ago (but we must all be in denial)
Here is the full announcement:
