on stock voltage i don´t get that much.. x16 is the highest stable multi on stock vcore.

i first thought the cpu or mobo doesn´t like high multis. but right now i´m 20mins into prime on 200x18.5/2.6ghzNB with 1.4875v/1.4vNB with my ram on the 1066divider. almost the same settings as in the screenshot in my sig only higher ram and nb speed.
it´s really funny that with phenomII u have to disable all the stuff that increased performance on phenomI.
cpu tweak is the most important. with cpu tweak enabled i can´t even get 3.4ghz stable. cpu prefetch is also disabled, as i don´t really know what it´s doing and it doesn´t help with performance.
both the ht and pcie-core volts are upped to 1.28V
cpu vdd is at 2.8V

4ghz is still a no go. maybe it has something to do with the sb750, as it always craps out when it´s trying to acces the hardisks (raid0 array).
but that´s still a long way to that magic 4. first i got to get 3.8ghz stable which always gives me irql_not_less_or_equal or other ram related bluescreens after a few minutes of prime.

Just got my 940 today.

I love it I'm running everything stock bar the HTT is at 2000.

I have ACC off also.

I'll run some test asap.

Running windows 7 64-bit also.

Hey mad I just wanted to confirm how you did this.........Gotvoltage says to leave the ht and NB at stock then overclock using just the multi and stock voltage......once you hit your wall at stock voltage you raise the cpu nb voltage to see if it will stabalize......if it does you continue to move forward on the cpu speed until you need cpu voltage again lets say 1.4 or 1.45v till you hit the next wall then raise the cpu nb voltage again to see if it assists.

At least this is what I understood from his post.

Now try Adding some Volts to the NB on CPU and then raising then checking stability if by raising the NBvolts stabilizes things then clock some more.(920/940 use 1.35- 1.4v for NB to start) yes its safe to do . The 940 IMC is just like b3,, Actually its alot Better and uses less Volts for both CPU and NB.
This is a easy way to see if the Ram or IMC may be holding you back . By Raisng the NB volts it helps the IMC when the CPU goes up in clocks .In therory if your on the Edge of the CPU max this should make it stable. Most cases it does. Also Check the Temp of the CPU , this will hold you back too.

that´s what i did. and the wall where i first had to up cpu vid was at 200x16.5.
erverytime i upped the multi again i also had to add cpu vid.
it´s not the first time for me ;)

my 9950 on the Asus 79-T using 13.5x263 and 800ram divider..

Of course if you use the 14.5xCPU multi it would = 3.818ghz...you never Know . it just may like a 14x 14.5 or even a 15x using the 800ram divider. Dont pay attention to my Voltage,, Yours will be way lower @ 3.8 on a PH2.

250x15=3750mhz @1.5v seems to be fine with the nb at 2.5ghz/1.4v
primed it for about 30mins, will try that again tomorrow.
my last try with 200x18.5 gave me errors in prime after 55mins.
i also tried going to 3.8ghz (254x15) on the cpu, but i either get a bsod or just a reboot at that frequency when i start prime.
going lower on the cpu multi and higher on htt doesn´t help.
i tried 267x14 to match 1066mhz on the 800 divider. but that´s giving me a bsod shortly after starting prime.

Just a note for anyone who may be interested....

Since I installed my PhII 940 I've had one drive that kept clicking and failing during post (3 HD system). I actually thought the drive was failing and it was getting pretty annoying....

Yesterday I got the bright idea to bump the V's up on the southbridge to 1.22v's and the problem has completely gone away. :up:

Just thought I would mention it in case anyone else is having similar problems.

I'm only on one Hard drive and my sb volts are up to 1.34.

I can boot at 4.0ghz but it too refuse to get into winows with more volts temps are still low when this happens.

FWIW Kevy, you may not need that much voltage on your Southbridge. Honestly, I've played with it before and it's never shown any big improvement by overvolting it (until now ;))...

Geez, even after a year of playing with Phenoms I'm amazed at how tricky these things are to overclock... :cool:
There are so many tweaks available it's hard to pin down which ones really help.

I'm sure it doesn't help that I keep changing parts though... :yepp:

same here. post on 4ghz is no problem. i even get to the bootmanager where i can choose which os to load (vista or xp). just for fun i chose the vista memory stability test (when i hit tab in the bootmanager i can choose this utility) and checked for ram errors at 4ghz without any problems.
but once i choose an os to boot i get a reboot immediatly.

Hmm i have to try to disable CPU Tweak and Prefetch to see if it helps to OC this more, i have a completely wall at 3.9GHz, cant get any further with any voltage. Though now 3.65GHz, NB 2800 HT 2800 and 24/7 stable, ram at 1120MHz 5-5-5-5-15-2T

I can boot @ 4ghz into all windows accept vista. Windows 7 is most stable. I have been hoping for a new bios, or Asus going to abbandon this for the M4 board?

bios for that are 701 and 801.

hhhmm they would have to be the same size too.

the M4 has a slightly different layout and less SATA ports/ So I dont think the bios is going to be compatible...

Given that the new boards aren't massively different to the current AM2+ boards then surely it's unlikely that Asus will drop support for them? Likely what works for the DDR2 AM3 boards will work for the DDR2 AM2+ boards.
Edit : When I say "what works" I mean Asus's optimisations to their BIOS, I don't mean that AM3 BIOS will work in AM2+.

Just got this board all hooked up and running the 9850 on it for now,,problem is tho in bios running 602 I have no controls in PCI express config, there is only the GFX Dual config....GFX2 Dual slot,,, peer to peer,,,slots power.......... There are NO Port numbers there in order to changed settings in ATI card, is there setting there for NB-SB Ports features....Running ATI CCC 8.12 right now there dosent even give me the option for Overdrive, cant Overclock the card, .......Bad mobo maybe..... has anyone had this problem before.....

so far i have this phenom 940 ii at 3808mhz with 1.552v cpu-z (bios 1.5125).
can anyone tell me why the board gives more voltage under load? or is this the builtin acc of the phenom ii?
this oc is intelburntest stable with 5 runs at maximum stress (full ram usage).

my load temps are 55°C according to coretemp during the intelburntest, and this is on water.
i read that the max temp is takes ist 62°C, is this true?

installed XP with all the updates sp3 included, anyone know why when I start into windows it just freezes? happens all the time...bios 602 ide drive...Question, is there a problem with the Soundmax drivers on the disk..it seems not to work once I install those drivers....hmmmm

Remove all drivers and start again.
If this doesn't work, then try to clear cmos.
If this doesn't work either, do a clean format and start again with sp2 for start.Then if everything is ok put also sp3.
