The VID on my chip is 1.2375 Batch L744B172. 1.3 Volts set in bios w/ 1.288 CPU-Z. I am thinking the higher voltages are from 4.5Ghz 3dmaor06 runs on air and 4.7ghz Super pi runs on air. I have experienced some serious temps on this chip. I am actually surprised it has not cooked yet. These OC's were with 1.7 volts Vcore.
I want to use this board with Xigmatek HDT-S 1283 Cpu Cooler but mainboards heatpipes are very big,Is that a problem for installation? Is anybody use this board with Xigmatek HDT-S 1283Cpu Cooler ?
I tried the Xigmatek and it does fit, however, I hated the mounting and I ended up changing to the TRUE.Quote:

is anybody else getting a corrupt bios issue when using 5+ghz? setfsb seems to be the culprit here but im not 100% sure. perhaps this is why they put 2 bios chips on the board, to anticipate this issue?
I don't know if this is bios corruption or not but i was using 533fsb and it was prime stable for like 12 hours then yesterday out of nowhere while i was browsing some websites Vista BSOD'd. The computer wasn't even under any kind of load either. Anyways, after that BSOD my computer was totally unstable. If i went into the BIOS and set default or auto settings and basically returned to stock speeds it was still totally unstable.Quote:

Talking about the Performance Level (PL) bios option ....
In x38/x48 we can have PL +/- like this :
6 till 350fsb
7 till 450fsb
8 > 450fsb
...
In the P5Q Deluxe we can have PL +/- like this :
7 till 350fsb
8 till 450fsb
9 > 450fsb
...
It really sucks.
Is there any solution to this ? Anyone knows if it is a bios problem or a chipset problem ? :(
PS: For me P35 still is the champ in memory bench with Everest.

I just see people talking and testing high FSB to reach high CPU OC but almost no one talks about the crappy PL on the P5Q Deluxe.
I don't wan't a CPU @ 4.GHz and using crappy PL like 10 or 12 as I been seing arround here. That's rubish.
I prefer a system with a CPU @ 3.6GHz and PL at least = 7.
I think it's a P45 feature so higher FSB can be reached vs using x38/x48.
the higher fsb kind of makes up for the low pl. read and latency are mostly effected by it, however you can overcome the crap pl level by having really high fsb to provide near the same bandwidth as x48.x38 :)Quote:

I totally agree with you. This is why I have yet to order this board. My Asus P5E-VM HDMI is the same way. People with lower clocked Q9450's are out performing me @ Hwbot because my performance level is 11-13. It's really starting to look as though my Q9450 was a bad purchase as I can't find a board to let me get the performance I want out of it with its 8 multiplier.:( I really like this P5Q I hope a bios update will fix this.Quote:

Issue or not if you compare eg the P35DS4 with exact same timings and this P5Q Dlx, there really isn't going much and that test is 2 PL difference... also be aware that P45 is so fresh yet performance and stability is already pretty good... more performance will come for sure...
See post 906 and 913 for comperative results... not that bad... In fact I was worried at start too but after doing some comperative stuff it doesn't bother me at all... at the moment I will not be able to beat my old SuperPi times, maybe in the near future...
If you want a good PL you need good ram, as the 1:1 is locked around 9-10, best thing to use a divider and test best PL then...

I just got the p5q deluxe board a few days ago, and I put a q9300 (L814B035) into it. I have a question about its temperature reporting...
I am using a Thermalright ultra-120extreme for the q9300, and I'm pushing in 1.3250V for 7.5*450=3375Mhz. In the bios (version 0704) it's reporting somewhere around 39C. but in windows OCCT and CoreTemp are reporting temperatures at around 52-53C when idling, and up to 71C when stressing. the heatsink is warm (not hot) to the touch, and I've re-sat the heatsink a few times already to make sure the thermal compound is okay. is that discrepancy normal? or should I actually be worried?

Corsair dominators worked fine from 0604 bios on normally (at least Chrisch PC8500 ones did) The 6400C4's have been a pain in the ass on previous Asus boards too ( recalling Striker Extreme and P5K Dlx ) don't know what it is lately with all these ram issues from the big manufacturers...and then you comment on Corsair forum and mostly will tell you to run the ram at 667mhz speed or sortlike compensations...
What happens if you run the rams in single channel ?
I see it maybe more as a hardware limitation, but if you read my previous posts again that there is not much between eg a P35DS4 and this mobo even with higher PL...and those tests were at the same clock speed, ram setings, ...Quote:

With my P5K-E (P35) and my Ramage (x48) I get around 10K in the Everest memory bench. With this P5Q Deluxe, with the same cpu speed and same memory speed I get less 900 to 1000 points, because of the PL issue !

So it's still not able to run med-high FSB stable with low tRD? I wonder if intel will provide an updated chipset driver or core code or something. Crap tRD does seem to be a symptom of the chipset across all the P45 boards. Something is fishy and I don't think it's just the way P45 is supposed to be. It's performing worse than P35 so something is wrong, and I bet it will be sorted out. I think a lot of early adopters are bailing on it too quickly.
well BSOD , not booting , barely stable with one stick and freezes on two
why would we not bail before our entire OS is corrupt and take a chance on loosing everything on your hard drive??? or atleast having to reload all 50 programs and games
