3500+ LBBLE 0519DPHW results for this one isnt promiseing . did 2300mhz at stock voltage. required 1.47 to do 2400mhz . 2500 failed prime even up to 1.55 which is max limit of this board. max temp at 1.55 was 54c under load ,

I've always wondered if part of the reason some cpu's do so much worse than others is because of really bad IHS contact. I know that isn't the whole story but it may play a part.

Could be when i took the IHS from my cpu there was a spot of 2x2mm on the center of the core that was without any thermal grease and the temp are much lower now + it OC about 50mhz more with the same voltage :toast:

I just took the IHS off my chip the other night and noticed that there wasnt any thermal grease in the middle of the core. But by removing the IHS I was able to go from HTT 326 to HTT 334 my heat dropped that much it went from 34-35c idle to 30-31c and doesnt even go over 40c under load. I also put some as5 on the chipset and it sits at 41c instead of 48c.

hmm I think I have the same issue as you...was it hard to take it off, how did u do it. and is it easy to crack the core, cuz i got a big heatsink.

Thanks guys, it was a pain but I took my time and just worked a razor back and forth till I broke through the glue.

I have the Big Typhoon and it may be big but its not heavy and doesnt really put extra stress on the core. I was just careful how much I tightened it down. It was the best thing I have done yet.

I have the same week GPBW venice. Right now, maximum 3dbenchable is about 2.86 @ 1.63 volts with Big Typhoon cooling. I'll try removing the IHS and see if I can get the same excellent results.

wow njkid, nice processor, nice clocks and good job with the IHS. That really makes me want to remove my IHS. With only 1.58 volts i'm getting load temperatures of 53C and my cooling isn't a slouch.. soon it's going to be water but then it would still help. I'd kill for +50 Mhz! :D

Yeah it's all luck, I never go out and look for a so called magic stepping / week.

I still have room to push it a little more, just don't want to give it more than 1.4 vcore untill I get better cooling. I just love these cheap 3000+ and getting a free 700+MHz

I did a burnin last night and now I am able to run 1.68v instead of the high 1.76v to get 3GHz. I didnt expect to be able to drop it so much. That makes me think I didnt need that much to begin with. Do you guys think if I go with a dangerden water setup I will be able to go farther?

Nice OC Absolute_0 I was able to boot at HTT 336 but I dont know how stable she was. I just tried it to see if I could do it. But your lookin good there will low volts!!

si tu le teste pas tu ne pourras pas savoir si c'est un bon step ou pas. car même dans les meilleurs step ils ya des bon et des mauvais... regarde les 0517BPEW par exemple

if you don't test it you couldn't know if it is a good step or not.
good step can be good or not like 0517BPEW...

Mine was lacking TIM in the center too so i saw about the same temp drop...
It takes 1.8v+ for me to bench at 3ghz though, still doesn't hit 40c though :cool:

How many volts are you using for 2.94 and 3.06?

What about the hieght drop from removing the ihs, do you need to shave the socket, i have an xp90 and it has a big base that sits over the socket.
