What does the bios setting for PCIE Interface setting do?
Is that just for Crossfire? Should I enable that or disable it?
Thanks,
Well it's not that,it's a stupid error applyin only at ASUS,the chassis jumper is at it' place. This error happened from an overclock but now it won't do anything .I pressed ALT+F2,flashed through the latest bios and it worked, but still the samer error.Other suggestions?
CPUZ shows 1.075 for volts now and never changes. So far OC is ok @ 3.6 will test more. Everest shows correct volts.
Sandra XI CPU benchmark scores are up about 1-2%. OC stable. Voltages stable
I just put together a new system with the P5B Deluxe WiFi. Before installing Vista, the BIOS showed my two SATA hard drives, but now they don't show up. Windows still boots, but I'm just wondering why I can't see the devices. Thanks.
did you switch from ide mode to ahci?
No. I will give that a try, thanks. I have two SATA hard drives in RAID mode running off of the motherboard's RAID controller; when I talked to an Asus tech (who was quite unhelpful) he said that I can't run hard drives in RAID and have the CD-ROM on the same controller. Is that right? He also said the fact that I have it in RAID mode is the reason I can't see any of my SATA devices in my BIOS...
"In RAID mode is the reason I can't see any of my SATA devices in my BIOS"
True, but you can see them where you select first HD etc.
"I can't run hard drives in RAID and have the CD-ROM on the same controller"
Wrong , I am doing it now, I get fantastic RAID0 performance and I can also boot from the SATA DVD/ CD drive.
For best performance, install the Intel Matrix Storage Console and the new Intel chipset inf.
http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/p965/index.htm
One thing, I run Vista.
Thanks for your reply. I run Vista as well. Which ports do you have your hard drives and optical drives plugged into on the board?
I don't know, but it does not make a difference. I think I have the two RAID drives on 1&2 and DVD on 3
I have installed Vista many times on this computer and I find that with VISTA it will sets up the RAID . You don't need the Intel F6 disk. Vista has a MS one that is good enough to get you started, you can install the driver istore ie Intel Matrix Storage Console you are in Vista. .....After you install the Intel Matrix Storage Console check to make sure you have the HDs "Write Cache Enabled".
I have my drives set up as (boot order)
1) Floppy
2) SATA DVD
3) Raid 0
4) IDE DVD
any word on the new 1205 beta bios?
I want to build two raid1 arrays on my p5b-dlx, does it matter which ports I need to use? Have already installed vista (yes I have set the bios to raid :-))
hey, i'm getting subpar performance out of my 7900GT with this board at stock clocks. i heard it has something to do with the voltages. could somebody elaborate, please?
ASUS FSB1333 Bios For P5B Series & Commando

Has anyone tried 2.4GHz Core 2 Quad on this board? because I will be getting one soon and will overclock it high since the Bus Speed is lower than my E6300. Already got the update for it so Its ready for it.
Sry been busy lately...
Yes i resloved by deinstalling drivers, setting properly in bios, and then installing again drivers...
*watch out to connect pins of front audio panel to mb properly, the pin layout is similar to USB pin layout, so its easy to reverse, and get no sound out but working in windows ok.
Just popped by to see whats new, i go flash new bios and then go setup raid, since i got second HD today.
Havent been able to find Sata DVD burner, can someone direct me to a online shop in europe that has it, and does delivering?
Missed the last pair of OCZ by 5 mins, so i am still on 512MB, pissed off and waiting for new stock to be imported. I am bypassing lack of RAM by asigning huge pagefile of 2-3Gb, which is speeding up comp, but also giving big cpu load and more HD activity
So as i thought i have a problem with this mobo
I setup raid, and so on
Boot XP setup disc, press F6
Choose RAID drivers when prompted (1st on list of 4 options)
And its all ok
Format, ... and then i get error cannot read iastore.sys .. skip, retry, quit, bla bla bla... and what ever i do i cant read it from floppy.
And offcourse if i skip i get BSOD on next restart... same goes if i configure to AHCI.
Floppy is ok and configured ok, using latest intel raid drivers for this mobo... configured raid ok and in bios Intel - enchanced - RAID
What is weirdest when i press retry it doesnt even try to read from floppy as it is trying to read from somewhere else..
Plz help, or gimme me any thoughts on this, i am stuck.
Hi guys,
I've been reading this forum for a long time, great stuff. I usually try to figure things out on my own but this time I'm stuck!
I can't seem to get my e6300 past 425 FSB, even with the new Ballistix I just bought. I've tried following the Tom's hardware guide with all of the initial voltages high, and she still won't POST past 429 or so. I also tried going straight to 470 to see if the strap would help. Running a Zalman 9500 cooler, Idle temps around 40.
Here's my CPU-Z info:
http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/4/4/4...56829269_o.png
Anyone have any ideas?
PS, I also tried running at 266 with a high divider to test out the RAM at around 1000 and the RAM was perfect.

-- "Chassis Intruded!" Message; CMOS-Clear and Chassis Intrusion Jumpers ADDED: 08/24/06
If you are getting a "Chassis Intruded!" message upon trying to boot, you will be unable to do anything whatsoever. As reported, to fix this, you must clear CMOS via an on-board jumper. Refer to your manual and locate the jumper, and be very careful, as the Chassis Intrusion jumper is right next to it. -- [Credit: anarinsk]
Hi,
I keep getting this message, chassis intruded!
I can't get in bios.
Bios reset didn't help.
Battery removal for 1.5 hour and reset didn't help.
Chassis jumper is right on it's default place.
here a picture of my screen:

Any suggestions, im really stuck here! :(
Would a bios flash help or only make it worse??
keldererik, try taking the jumper out and placing it back after a swap. on the positions. while doing this, be sure the battery is out. it worked for my other computer surprisingly.
Scope666-- when you went to 470fbs did you get the boot? or what? your proabbly not pushing enough volt. i'm running my e6300 at 2.8ghz right now. so i'll see if i can boot from 420+ FSB. let you in on it
no, it wouldn't boot at all, just the power light, no happy single beep. I tried the cpu voltage as high as 1.525, which is very high from what I read. Also, what voltage do you guys recommend I run the Ballistix at (they're 800's)
I had the same "wall" with my old ram, OCZ 667 Gold. I always thought it was the RAM, but now I still have the same wall.
Scope666, with those parts you should be able to get to 500FSB+. Not sure what voltage your running, but I would set the bios cpu voltage to 1.40v, and set the memory voltage to 2.1v. Then leave all other settings on auto, including enabling auto memory speed timings. My E6300/P5B/Ballistix system runs stable @ 470FSB with these settings. With cpu voltage increased to 1.55v in the bios and FSB termination voltage set to 1.45v, it runs at 525FSB nice and hot. Perhaps with 4G of ram you might need 2.2v?
Thanks for your reply, I followed your settings EXACTLY, but I still couldn't get it to POST. I tried both your 470 and 525 settings. It's so weird, maybe I just have a crappy CPU and or motherboard. I am able to run at 425 FSB with everything on auto except cpu voltage at 1.375 and Memory at 2.10, which leaves me at 2975 Mhz. anything else I should try? Thanks again...
PS I only have 2 sticks, 1 gig each, in the yellow sockets.
No one had problems like me setuping up raid??
And yes the error is cannot copy (not cannot read)
Which bios are you guys using for a better OC ?
I just tried that, no dice. I ran into a similar wall awhile back around 380 or so, and someone told me about the strap and to jump to 401, and that solved the problem (for 380) Now it's another wall around 425. Are most of you able to keep the other voltages on auto? (nb, sb, fsb term, etc)
Also, on my mb there isn't an option for 2.1 volts for Ram, it goes from 2.05 to 2.15, then 2.20 .... weird...
I have:
1.Floppy 3.5" (non USB)
2.DVD-RW IDE Connected to jmicron controller
3.2 SATA II indentical hard drives Connected to Intel controller
4.Jmicron setup in BIOS as IDE
5.Intel setup in bios as RAID
6.Configured RAID 0 Array properly
If i dont load drivers for RAID by F6 disk array is not recognised by OS setup
If i do, i get recognised and can format it but also get cannot copy iastor.sys error... retry, skip, quit... if i try to skip, 2 more messages .inf , .cat and then BSOD offcourse on next restart.
Someone also suggusted capslocking names of files on disquette... but that also didnt work.
I have tried changing floppy disc, floppy device, new XP setup disc, also tried F6 floppy creator from ASUS download, and also newest from Intel.
Anyone else has any thought, plz share, they are most welcome....
I have been setting up all kind of RAID configurations and never had a problem with a Intel setup, Are you setting up the RAID during bios boot up. If not, set it up that way. Then, use the F6 disk and load OS. Then load the Intel Matrix Storage Console and make sure you have write-Back Cache Enabled. If no, turn that on in the Console
Me neither this is my second problem in 8 years, first was nforce based mb with faulty HD controller, which is not the case here.
I setup RAID in BIOS, then craete array in postBIOS intel RAID utility
Load drivers using F6, drivers load, setup continues, formates disc array... and when its supposed to copy data to HD form XP setup disc it gives that bizzare error.
I cant even get to beginning of XP installation , let alone the end, to be able to utilize Intel Matrix Storage utility.
I know i am not doing anything wrong, but since no one had problem with this type of error, i am thinking maybe i am doing something wrong, its just i dont know what...
Just curious, has anyone else run into a wall around 425 -430 FSB? if so, were you able to overcome it? Just trying to figure out if I should keep trying, or bag it and wait for the prices to come down and maybe try another CPU. (E6420 or E6600)
Thanks as always. :-)
Do I need F6 drivers for RAID when installing Vista?
Its an FSB wall, nothing you can do, it's all the chip is gonna give ya. Just picked up a E2140 for my other PC and wanted 3.0Ghz out of it. Hit a wall at 375 Mhz which just happens to be 3000 :)
Anyways, if you want to push higher you'll need to swap out for another CPU.
Hi all,
I've searched the forums and have not found anything related to this. I saw this thread and figured I'd try my luck. I've read quite a few postings here but most deal with RAID setup or OC.
A while back I noticed that my computer seems to "hang" when I am trying to log off from one account into another from within XP. It seems to occur most often when I "switch" quickly from one account A into account B then try to fully log out of account B (although this is not the only time it happens)
Symptoms: Upon selection of "Log off" the OS just hangs for a while and the screen goes black. I hear the CPU fan and see the power light on, so the OS has not shutdown or restarted. I thought it may be some weird form of standby but upon moving mouse and hitting keys, the display does not come back.
System setup:
P5B Deluxe bios version 1004
(Did not upgrade to 1101 since the fixes do not seem to address any issue I have...from ASUS download website:
"P5B Deluxe Release BIOS 1101
1 Add new uCode to support new CPU.
2 Fix system won''t complete POST with GV-MVP/RZ2(TV tuner) connected and power on before motherboard.")
SATA II Western Digital HD (on intel sata port I think)
Seagate IDE drive and LiteON DVD burner on same IDE bus (does the J-micron driver control this?)
2x1GB CORSAIR TWIN2X2048-6400
I did not install any RAID drivers during xp setup and do not have any RAID.
Under Device manager under "My Computer" I have ACPI Multiprocessor PC. Both the IDE HD and the DVD burner are said to be run by Microsoft drivers in Device manager (clicked on properties then driver tab). Currently using USB keyboard and mouse (heard this could be a problem?) I believe I have my sata drive set as IDE in bios (should this be changed?)
Wow long post (sorry!) If I've misplaced the post please let me know and I apologize. This problem have been driving me crazy b/c upon restarting pc (which I must do when this happens) I get a "Windows fatal error" when I log back into any account.
Thanks in advance.
caucano plz try disabling jmicron controller and sound card in BIOS, then try again and see if it still lags.
I heard of freezes and hold ups beacuse of these two, so maybe it helps to indentify the issue.
But this message ""Windows fatal error"" is getting me to think its some program causing this. plz post your taskmanager list prior to you logging off.
-------
I just managed to install Vista x32 using same bloody floppy disc with no problems whatsoever.
I am now just flat out confused...
Angelico I will look into the j-micron controller when I get home. I was told in another forum that the j-micron controller is needed for the IDE drives; if this is true I won't be able to use the IDE HD and the DVD burner correct?
Funny that you mention it might be a software error, I was thinking of that just recently. I had at some point altered the registry to fix a read-only folder problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256614
I have since then returned the registry back to its original state and the problem still persists.
So I opened up my case to check the connection of my SATA II drive. It is indeed in the SATA port 1. Then I tried the following:
Went into BIOS and under IDE configuration I set SATA to AHCI, saved and exited. Windows did not load.
Returned to BIOS, set SATA to IDE and turned off J-micron controller (which was set as IDE). Windows loaded fine and I tried to see if I would get an error upon loggin in/out of mutliple accounts. Windows did not hang this time! although this does not mean the problem is solved. I noticed that now my HD and dvd-burner are not recognized by windows.
So I returned to BIOS and enabled back J-Micron. Now my drive and burner are recognized. I tried removing J-Micron as suggested in this thread but I my drive is not recognized as SCSI; actually I have no SCSI tab under device manager.
I've also scanned the PC with Adaware to check for malware, nothing found. It could be this J-micron thing though. Any ideas as to how I can remove it and still use my IDE drives?
EDIT: Here are the programs running for the 1st account I log onto. I then use "Switch" to the second account and the programs for the second account are also below
Attachment 61366
Attachment 61367
Chuckbam i havent thought of that, but i will certainly try... I have installed Vista atm so i can acctually get some work down and RnR.. but doesnt the windows allways formats by itself even if you do not do it manually?
But as with this mobo fun never ends i have a new question/problem.
I cannot enable cash write back
But it seems as it is enabled individually, but not on volume....
Look at pics
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/6384/13146430uy2.jpg
And this is what i get in Intel MAtrix Storage util (7.5 ver)
http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/5669/31189557vl9.jpg
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9466/45121173hm8.jpg
Notice how its enabled per drive, but not for volume, just as in windows devmgmt.
Is this normal , and if not how do i enable it...
*****
Also my HD read are 124 MB/s and 157MB/s burst rate measured by HDSpeed
Is this ok speed for 2xSata II Discs in RAID 0 mode?
****
Also a quick Q about defragmenting.
Is Defragmenting RAID 0 volume worth doing? I ask because if i understand correctly the data is resettled so its in one piece in sector by sector mode. So in case of RAID 0 moving data to 1 of the discs defeats the purpose of RAID 0 reading advantage. I mean are there defragmentors that recognise RAID 0 setting and defragment accordingly?
Caucano try to kill following programs and then try to switch users :
DefWatch
AiNap
aawservice (it seems you have new adaware 2007 installed i had problems with it)
VPtray
CALMain
winvnc4
rtvscan
aacenter
rundll32 (this shouldnt be running unless there is some program calling it)
spoolsv
ccevtmgr
ccsetmgr
nvsvc32
cvpnd
And since u cannot kill zlclient and vsmon u have to shutdown zonealarm (which i abandoned 2 months ago due to improper protection and some lag issues and switched to Comodo what i recommned you too)
Also deinstall sound drivers or disable them in BIOS (if oyu havent allready), cause i see you still have soundmax files running. or just try to kill smax4.exe
Hope it works out, if it does it is then just a question of shuting down one application less until you come up with application that lags you
Oh yes i mean end task when i say kill :)
Here is how I fixed my PCi-e x1 problem. I was trying to decide if I wanted to run my memory at 1:1 or 4:5. When I had it at 1:1 my PCi-e was x1. When I changed it to 4:5 the PCi-e was x16. I flipped back and forth a few times and the results were the same. I tried changing the NB vCore and it was not the problem.
P5B Deluxe (Bios 1101)
e6600....389 FSB running at 3.51Ghz
Sapphire X1950Pro 512MB
2X1Gb G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ (4:5) running at 973Mhz (4-4-4-12)
vMemory: 2.30
CPU vCore: 1.4625
FSB vCore: Auto
NB vCore: 1.55
Sb Vcore: 1.50
ICH vCore: Auto
PS: I tried for 400 FSB with a vMemory of 2.40 and the bios page froze. I thought I was done. It would not post on repeated tries. I had 4x1Gb of memory, so I tried one set at a time and sure enough one of my sets were defective and would not post. So I guess 2.40 volts is not good for this memory. I am glad I had two sets of memory or else I would not have been able to figure this out. I RMA'd the memory and I am going to keep it as backup from now on.
okay my pc was having issues being slow and the occasional error. I decided to format and seem to be having even more issues than before.
I formatted fine and installed, then i tried to boot and it would hit the windows loading screen, and crash. I ran checkdisk through system recovery, it said it found some errors so i ran a /r and it supposedly fixed them. Anyways, i reinstalled/reformatted again because the problem was not solved. Now i seem to be getting a disk error and it is telling me to ctrl+alt+del
I have
p5b deluxe
e6400
2x74gb raptors in raid0
etc etc
please ask if you need more.
Are my hard drives dying, im really pissed becaue they are expensive so i dont wanna buy new ones.
To find out if your HDs are dying, you can take them off RAID and install Windows on the individual hard drive(s). You may also want to use WD Disk Management to partition the HDs accordingly. Awhile back, my Raptor was having booting problem and I tried all and the last resort was to use Disk Management and that fixed the problem. It may not be the same for your HDs but it's worth a try.
im noticing a long statup time from when XP logo appears to when it gets into windows. I dont remember it being this long but been running evga 680i for a while and only came back to p5b-d recently(other rig was resting :D).
E4300 @ 3.2GHz
1GB Fatbodies
2x74GB Raptor Raid
any ideas how I can speed up the startup time?just seems to take so long, the loadfing bar goes to the end many times before it gets to desktop its 10 times longer than on my EVGA 680i. ??????????????
I have a problem running 4gigs of memory in this Board. In order to run and see a full 4gig I have to enable memory mapping. But I can't run memtest, or Prime95 without errors. If I disable memory mapping both will run happily. I'm running vista 64Bit. Can there be any other bios settings causing a problem? With memory mapping enabled, I've even tried slacking out the Ram timings completely, upping Vmem and Vnb.. still errors..?
P5b Dlx (Bios 1101).. E6700@3.6, 1.5vcore(Bios).. Thermalright Extreme Ultra.. 4x1Gb Adata PC8000@4-4-4-12 450FSB 1:1..
Thanks Chuckbam, no joy.. tried it before and just for the sake of it tried it again now.. Errors in memtest straight away!?
I just picked up a Netgear gigabit switch to allow faster transfers within my network. In one box I have the Gigabyte DS3 rev 1, c1 with E2140 OCd to 3.0 Ghz. the other box is the P5B Deluxe with a E6420 oc'd to 3.6 ghz.
I connected the switch to my router and have absolutely no problems with the GB ethernet card connecting to the switch at 1GBps, however the POS nics on the Asus board will sometimes connect at 100 MBps, sometimes at 1GBps - more than anything 100 MBps. I have swapped patch cables, jacks on the switch, drivers through all the drivers Asus and Marvell have offered - and it's always the same thing. Its a crap shoot, 1 out of 5 boots it will come up and run 1GBps, 4 outta 5 100 MBps.
Any thoughts?? I've gone through all the settings, tried different buffer sizes, etc. In the drivers they give you the options for 10 and 100 full duplex - there is nothing to force 1GB. Btw this is with both onboard nics. Nic2 is a bit better, maybe 3 outta 5 will connect at 1GB. Either way I'm ready to rip it out and swap it just because of this problem. I've really grown to hate the p5b deluxe because of a few different issues I have with it. However, the one thing that keeps me coming back - the easy vdroop mod that allows me to OC higher than with a DS3 (which doesn't have a working pencil vdroop mod). Otherwise I would have gotten rid of this board awhile ago...
I also need to add, this is with XP-32. However, in Vista x64 it always shows 1GB, but the transfer rate is definitely 100MBps. I know this because I have a folder of 2GB of data - to transfer at 100MBps takes 6-7 mins. When its working in 1GBps mode (which lights green on the switch vs. orange at 100) I can copy the same folders in 40 seconds. So in Vista x64 I never get 1GBps operation even though it shows me it is in network connections.
Let me know if anyone has any thoughts, or the same problems...
EDIT: My solution was to order a GB P35-DS3R yesterday. I have no issues with the nic on the ds3. its too bad though.
I just installed a liquid cooling system in my rig and I was running Orthos to make sure things were solid before I began some overclocking. Unfortunately, Orthos fails within 2 minutes, giving me a fatal error because "Rounding was 0.x, expected less than 0.4" (where x is a slightly different number each time I try to run Orthos). I'm still running everything at stock (no overclocking at all) and I haven't changed any settings in my bios, although I did get the long beep followed by three short beeps the first time I booted after installing the liquid cooling system; I assumed this was an error because the motherboard did not detect the CPU fan.
Any thoughts on how to correct this? Thanks in advance...
okay so i checked the hard drives with the WD diagnostic tool and they seem to be fine. However i renabled raid, reinstalled windows and it wont even detect the hard drives, and if it does it gives me a disk read error. I ran checkdisk through the windows recovery and it tells me it found errors, even before i hit the second windows installation screen(the one after it unpacks everything). I am not sure what this means. I am going to make a new floppy for the raid drivers and see if that solves the problem. if it doesnt i am not sure what the problem is. It seems only raid doesnt want to work, it was working fine before :S... ideas?
The intel matrix raid utility? CTRL+I at startup? If so yes, i have done it about 4 times over the last 2 days. I am not sure what is going on. Created raid with my 2 raptors, 128kb stripe size etc etc... nothing it different from last time i've done this....
Hey Chuckbam what kinda voltages you using on NB and Ram for your 4 gigs?
I can run memtest (windows version) if i exclude memtest from DEP? Anyone any thoughts on this? Also, finding general views that 4 gig with this board is not easy?? Frustrating, I've been at this for about two weeks...!!
My MB is at default and RAM is at 2.3v. When I went from 2GB to 4GBs I had to change my timing from 4-4-4-12 to 4-5-5-12 that is why I suggested you try it. Did you say that your mem speed is 450MHz(x2) 900 MHz ? If it is, your memory may not run at that speed with 2 pairs. How do you do at 800 MHz. If it does not run stable at 800, you need to get different memory.
How do you do in ORTHOS ? http://www.overclock.net/downloads/1...v20060420.html I like to run orthos and loop 3DMARK or PCMARK for a day or so before I am happy with the settings
http://usa.asus.com/100/download/pro...95/1295_10.pdf
Look, some memory will not work with 2 pairs with this board
Thanks Chuckbam, I had a look at that list intially and had no problem with the 2 gig Adata.. thought I'd be okay! Orthos errors after a few minutes.. again it's the Ram...
I've sourced a supplier of the same ram you have, exact part no. and all. Before I place an order, can you confirm if you have enabled memory mapping? i.e you do see the full 4 gig in windows.. not just CPU-Z?
And is there anything else you'd have to say about the Kingston memory?
Thanks for your help, sorry for being a pest..!
From post 3728
I have the same problem and tried the same solution but no go. Clear CMOS, pulled RAM from another PC, change video cards, new PSU, put another CPU and still won't POST and no beep. I think it's the mobo, was it the consensus that some P5B Deluxe mobos are doing this? Mine is P5B Dlx/wifi rev 1.10g and I'm preparing an RMA to newegg.
Also, do you guys know whether newegg will send a new replacement, or refurbished or open box?
A new bios is out 1212 Anyone try this yet??
I'm trying!
After the first boot, Vista redetected my VGA (8800GTS) and I did have to reinstall the driver. Maybe a IRQ change???
i've just bought a 8600gts and i think there's something wrong either with my vga or mb (mine is wifi edition)
after a long period turned off, or after a reboot, the post screen has some artifacts (i'm not sure if i can call it artifacts, but some red dots show up on the screen during the post)...
anyone had this prob??
(vga is @stock ...and this prob occurs with and w/o overclock)
no word on what its supposed to fix yet?(1212)
anyone any ideas about my long long boot times, has to be some way to sort it.
updating done but wait a min! WTF
1 of my cores just vanished in TAT !
and no this didnt redetect my video card
I’ve just gotten my very first OC stable: 3.5ghz on a E6600 at VCore = 1.5000v. I’m watercooling my rig, and I have 32c (idle) and 50c(load) temps. Is this OC sustainable over the long run or should I tone it down a bit? Is that amount of voltage going to break down the MB or CPU, or should I be able to use this 24/7? Any advice is much appreciated.
Yes, it's stable for at least 8 hours (the longest I've let it run). I've tried to get it stable with a lower VCore but I keep getting random restarts.
screw this mobo and long stratup. going to just take it out and sell. is in my download rig and statup is faster with this MSI 975X Powerup.
2 more reasons why when I ordered my p35 this week I went with GB. I like the DS3 cause I like Award over Ami and the boot times...
Of course I like having many slots (GB) vs 2 (asus) for BIOS profiles too and the Gigabit nic that doesnt drop to 100 mbps (asus) every other boot too :)
P5B Deluxe / Wifi-AP BIOS version 1212
1. Add new CPU uCode to support new processors
2. Revise SLP 2.0 rule

Has anyone had any luck configuring Patriot "eXtreme Performance" (snicker) PC6400 (PDC22G6400LLK) to work with the P5B deluxe? I've got 4x1GB running at 390 mhz x2 at 5-5-5-15 (2.15v), but I'm having no luck getting it to run at the manufacturer's suggested timings of 4-4-4-12 (2.2v). If I run it at 4-4-4-12 (2.15v), Orthos fails within minutes. If I run it at 4-4-4-12 (2.25v), the board flips out and I either can't POST, I get an error with my RAID drives or I get the long beep followed by three short beeps. Anyone have any experience with this or have ideas?
SLP 2.0 (System Locked Preinstallation) technology for activation process of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) edition of Windows Vista on branded PC.
This new 1212 bios now suports the new G0 steping CPU's right ?
And about OC is this 1212 bios at the same OC level as the previous ones ?
SLP 2.0: system-locked pre-installation 2.0
This mechanism is commonly referred to as 'SLP 2.0' ('system-locked pre-installation 2.0') and consists of the following three key elements:
1. The OEM's hardware-embedded BIOS ACPI_SLIC information signed by Microsoft.
2. A certificate issued by Microsoft that corresponds to the specific ACPI_SLIC information.
The certificate is an XML file found on the OEM's installation/recovery media, ususally called something like 'oemname.xrm-ms'.
3. A special type of product key that corresponds to the installed edition of Windows Vista.
This key can usually be obtained from some installation script found on the OEM's installation/recovery media or directly from a pre-installed OEM system.
If all three elements match Windows Vista's licensing mechansim considers the given installation a valid system-locked pre-activated copy (that does not require any additional product activation procedures).
So the basic concept of the tool at hand is to present any given BIOS ACPI_SLIC information to Windows Vista's licensing mechanism by means of a device driver. In combination with a matching product key and OEM certificate this allows for rendering any system practically indistinguishable from a legit pre-activated system shipped by the respective OEM.

Anyone with p5b dlx + E6x50 CPU ?
Hi all,
I've been reading on this forum for some months now, I builded my system like 7 months ago but I got my memory 1.5 months ago ... got really busy here and had no time to OC but I started this week and wanted to show you my result. I'm kinda a newbie but I still want to show you what I did so far.
First here is my system :
CPU Core 2 Duo E6400
Mobo P5B Deluxe
Memory : Mushkin XP2-8500
Power supply : OCZ Xtreme 700w
Vcore : 1.55 (in bios)
FSB Termination : 1.45
NB : 1.55
SB : 1.60
ICH : 1.057
Allright, those are the important parts ... here is a screenshot of what I did
I wanted to know if it's normal that memset see my memory at 533 MHZ .. it's not suppose to be 450 * 2 = 900 MHZ ?
when I boot my PC I see PC4300 or something like that so I think there is maybe a problem there.
Also, about the Vcore ... I putted 1.55 in BIOS (if I put lower, it's not stable ...) and in Windows it's not saying 1.55 ... is that normal too ?
Like you can see I idle at 46-47 and on load I hit 62-63
I use a Tuniq Tower.
So that's it ... wanted to say too that it's 100% stable with 8 hours of 3dmarks and memtest so I think it should be fine
Thanks for reading and if anyone can answer my questions about the ram and the vcore, feel free to help :)
Later
is it safe for daily use these voltages :
FSB Termination : 1.45
NB : 1.55
SB : 1.60
ICH : 1.057
???
is anyone using values as high as those this for sometime (like 6+ months) ?
Hi it's me again,
Yeah well I read on many forum that ppl were using those settings tho I don't know if it's safe for 24/24
Would be cool if someone can confirm that it's oke to use those settings because it's 100% stable here with those settings.
Also in windows it shows 1.47 Vcore and not 1.55 like I setted in BIOS so I'm a bit confused. I read that over 1.5 is a bit crazy but if I put lower than 1.55 my OC don't work
So help would be nice to ansnwer all those questions
Thanks
the vcore u set on bios is different of that shown in windows (i don't know why) ...
by pencil modding ur mb u can reduce the difference a lil bit...
before the pencil mod (for vdrop) :
bios - 1.4875v
windows - 1.440v (idle)
windows - 1.432v (full)
after the mod:
bios - 1.4875v
windows - 1.4620v (idle)
windows - 1.4620v (full)
Well, well
Seems it's not 100% ok ...
Tommorow I went on my PC, opened the screen and bam ... BSOD
So my PC crashed when I was sleeping. now I guess I will lower my FSB to something like 410 and lower my voltage to see if it will be more stable.
Sucks :(

Another new one again 1215 HERE
