Nope Not the same. My XL could not get higher voltage on the core. Most XL's could not have more voltas on the core because of the fixed softground. A15 cores had the fix build in.

But ATi is realy binning wel on XL, XT and XTX. Most X1900 XT dont clock well. And allmost every XTX clocks insanen if u compair with the xt's.

1.58 did not blow anything up. Temp did not raid much. But i'm not using that for 24/7 usage. I reinstalled the drivers and wnt to 6.2 but still crappy oc when the temp was raizing. I think the XT cores are crappy. Next time i will buy an XTX or whatever ATi is offering as best solution.

I don't know what i could do wrong ? The only thing i can see is that the temps are insane ( 80c Load @ 1.35v ) Thats why i'm running 600-750 @ 1.15v-1/9v-1.9v-1.48v.

Been playing around with my MSI X1900XTX card for a couple of hours. Boosting voltage to the max on the core gives me 747MHz as a maximum. This is with fan at 100%. 750MHz Locks up every time. On the memory, I can run 837MHz all day long, but 850MHz get artifacts all over the place after a couple of minutes. Have tried voltage from 2.000v to 2.200v in 0.025v intervals but am having a hard time figuring out what voltage is best. What voltages are you guys using to get the most out of your memory?

Other then that I'm very pleased with this card. After a benching session yesterday I ended up at right over 6800 points i 3DMark06. This is all aircoold with a 4400+ @ 2.7GHz and X1900XTX @ 747/1675

Soem use lower mem voltages like 1.9v. I use 2.134v As max. @ Mu X1800 XL that was the most optimal voltage. What is ur Core voltage ?

U might want to lower that one a bit. Maybe U get higher mem clocks then ? And i could try that VDDIC voltage. I helpt me increes my memory speeds a bit. What are ur stressed core temps on the card ?

Core voltage is 1.575v if I'm not mistaking. Max temp I've seen is low 80 Celcisus. Will try to lower core voltage and see if I can push it a little further. Will also try to drop mem voltage under 2v and see if that helps

Corevoltage is realy high :|. That could be ur problem. Try Stock 1.45 or 1.35v.

@ 80c My core becomes unstable and wil start artifacting. So maybe its the same with u ? and if u use 1.45 ur temps will be a lot lower.

Max overclock is the same. And take a look @ the VDDIC voltage if ur maxingout again.

Overclocker reduces mem timings..... that's why the scores don't match atitool clock for clock.

conveniently, my max oc with the octool and atitool gives me the EXACT (10 pts off avg) same scores in 3dmark (yes fresh reboots between using each tool)

im going to stick with octool cuz its much easier for me than atitool cuz it involves less steps in setting my desired clocks

max STABLE oc with octool: 695/873 score - 129xx

i do not care for benchable only speeds that i cant run 24/7

this is without adjusting voltages with octool...with atitool i gotta raise vgpu or it locks

So I take it the difference between octool/CCC and ATItool is simply in the amount of ram overclock? Core isn't affected by one program allowing you higher in one then the other? I can clearly see that ram is a big difference but then again I knew this since running my X1800. You are only off by 10 points yet are at 50mhz difference on the ram. I am just getting some info before I start overclocking using ATI Tool. I have my card at max CCC though I know I will get better scores/gaming performance if I use ATItool over CCC even if I use exact same core and mem for both. I just hope I don't need more voltage to obtain same clocks using atitool over CCC because of the tighter timings. Anyone find they had to raise volts to maintain max CCC clocks in ATItool or were they able to keep it the same and still maintain 100% stability and artifact free? The card runs pretty hot so would like to avoid further voltage if possible. Has it been proven that 1.425 is the volts set by the bios when in 3D mode?

Sorry for my rambling but chinkgai, what volts did you have the card set at to maintain 100% stability and no artifacts with your clocks mentioned above in atitool. Thanks.

I can run my card up to 700 on the core without going above 1.4v on the core..... I can run my memory up to 800 without going over default voltage. I have everything set to an atitool profile so once it's set I don't have to do anything but click one button.

the only thing im not feeling about atitool is having to run such high volts (1.4+) even in 2D mode. That keeps temps and fan noise louder when just browsing the web etc. I like having 1.2 for idle and then only 1.4+ for load. I am getting great performance from a CCC overclock however I would like to get more from atitool. Guess you can't have it all.

god damn I'm frustrated right now, can someone give me a step-by-step guide how to overclock this cards before I throw it out of the window? :slapass:

ATItool locks up in 3D (I have disabled the 2 services) :mad:

Overclocker tops out @ 695 Mhz 1.225 vgpu (higher vgpu and my computer freezes)

If you killed there services, there is no 2D/3D switch. Whatever you set in 2D in Overclocker or ATT is your clocks for both 24/7. Adjust the voltage in ATT before you set any clocks cuz the default 1.175 is for the default 500/600 clocks. Set voltage @ 1.35-1.40V, then set your clocks. The find max mem/gpu in ATT is kinda screwy on these cards, so I wouldn't bother with it.

Ah, I thought 1.2v was stock for 3D.

Nah, I think 1.400V is default, but people are running more than that even on stock cooler @ 100%. It will do much better on that DD block though :)

Forgot to say that when I'm using Overclocker I'm not disabling those services, could that make any difference?

HELL YES. Overclocker isn't really good unless you can REALLY OC your mem high because it reduces latencies and unless you are setting both 2D and 3D clocks the same, you still have the switch going on if the services aren't disabled. DO NOT use Overclocker for setting voltages...it's a mess.

Disable the ATI services->reboot. Using only ATT, set GPU voltage to 1.35-1.40->set clocks to what you've been clocking->bench again...I guarantee they will be higher.

@cantankerous, i had to set the 2d vgpu pretty high to get it to run stable...didnt mess with the mem voltage though...if the vgpu 2d voltage was too low...anything "3d-like" in windows would lock up my system...such as the "fade" effect of menus was enough to lock it up.

2d voltage in atitool to run at same speed as octool was over 1.45v

for me, its octool since i dont have to mess with 2d voltages or any FTW!!

actually you can have it all. There is a nice dynamic fan sensor you can set to raise the fan level to whatever you want based on temp sensor. So if you temps are at 40° you can set it to a certain fan %. If the temps go up to 50° the fan speed can be set to go up..... Look around in the fan controls on ATITOOL and you'll see what I'm talking about. When my temps are under 40° my fan is running at 20%. It will save your hearing. :D

According to RivaTuner, 1.45v is stock for an X1900 XTX card.

What version of Cat and Rivaturner are you running? I cant get Riva turner to work with me x1900xtx

Yea I was going to say, The latest rivatuner just incorporated support for the X1800 but not the X1900.

Thanks houserat for the info. I already knew about that though hehehe. I use it all the time. Still doesn't sit well with me having 1.45v for 2D web browsing though. I just installed latest cats and atitool so may mess around with it to see what I can do. On my cheasy overclocked single core winchester I scored 11k in 05 with max CCC and was pretty impressed. I am sure I can gain another 500 points with the tighter timings of atitool so want to try it out.

I wish there was a way to make a profile in atitool that has DIFFERENT voltages per profile. So far you can make a profile for different clocks however voltage seems to be global and doesn't save on a per profile basis unless I am missing something. I even clicked off save voltage to profiles in the properties tab and still nothing.
