would a 226 watt tec be able to power off a antec true power 550 watt spare psu i got its got 36A on the 12v rail plus maybe some fans and a pump
You need to mod it to provide higher capacity wires to the peltier, cant run it off a molex. And you need to apply load to the other rails.
i dont get what you mean about the higher capicty wires?Quote:

what would be the worst case scenrio if i didnt solder bigger guage wires on there?Quote:

get a 226w tec and the meanwhile 320w psu :DQuote:

If I remember it right, Meanwhell has adjustable 24V power supply's. Though, they will cost you some money.Quote:

First, how do I hook up the TEC modules? I read online -- someone said you should do it in series, but that means each one will only get 6V right? That seems wrong. So I guess in parallel?
Second, what capacity of a PSU do I need? I'm looking to build my own actually.
get the 600w meanwell and it has room on it for 3 tecs on it. IMO
wats that? i suppose you're referring to the SE-600-12?Quote:

Well I'm thinking I'd rather get a good PSU with a high current rating, so I'll have room for expansion.
I'm going to be using up to 3 TECs, 1 for CPU, up to 2 for GFX (only 1 right now). I'm going to switch out my Antec TrueBlue 480W psu and replace it with this. Would this psu power my system AND power TEC's?
SilverStone ST85F (850W / 900W peak, +12V1 thru V4, 18A a piece

No... You will melt the wiring. Get the meanwell to run your tecs
What? You can't plug TECs into a molex? Why would some TECs you can buy (for ripoffs) off like FrozenCPU have molexes? What about like 80W ones? At 12V they would only consume about I dunno 70-80W, I think. Would a molex not handle that?
You are going to need alot more than 80w tecs try more like 226 or 320
on a tec it draws 35A and your 12/5 volt rails on a pc psu will never run that many amps! you MUST use a psu that can handle the load!
Yea but read the specs on that PSU. It has a total current rating of 72A! Isn't that sufficient?
ERrr.. where'd my post go did it get deleted?
Well, here it is again. Basically I was saying that the PSU I picked has a total current max of 72A. I'm also undervolting the TECs, since their Imax ratings are based on >12V. In that case, would the PSU be sufficient?
Nope. You CANNOT use TEC"s on a computer PSU especially with a lot of current.
