Here's hoping for an unlocked late-cycle SB-E or something on Ivy Q1 2013
They have two versions of this board, the other had more RAM slots and IPMI and all that goodness. So torn on which one I would prefer.
and there's always SuperMicro if you need more memory..768 gig on a couple of these..That's funny even to write..LOL

Yeah I know Dave. SM has tons of nice boards :)
I can't see the pricetag
The SM board I linked to?
I just googled it and saw from $456 to $699..LOL..Someone is greedy today.
Something else I'd like to toss in here.
We tend to take things for granted but should sometimes take a mental step back and think about things.
How lucky are we all that these companies have hired people like Vince and Peter to bring their perspective and expertise to what we are able to purchase.
I mean that, just think about these guys and add in the Macci's, the Sampsa's, and lets not forget FUGGER who have all added to the vast wealth of knowledge we take for granted.
We never see the direct influence they have given but we do see the results in what we are able to buy.
I'd like to thank them, all!
The motherboards are not the problem. Intel will not released unlocked Xeons for dual cpu configurations. AS for the 105 bclk limit Jacob talked about we have no hard proof just yet with retail chips. Jacob also said an i7 (he meant a single chip I'm sure) would work in the Evga sr-X, but I doubt that will be the case when the board is available in mass quantity.
Pics or it didn't happen! ;)
Argh the typos
I don't have a desktop stocket 2011 chip either lol
Here's a review of the board

It showcases thermal performance and a few bios screenshots.
humm... SR-X is so tempting I might end up getting one even if all it does is sit on the desk and fold.
since the old 775 days I have never bothered to look at them... are they still sitting at CIRCA USD2,500?
**edit... sorry I mean AUD, and I just realised, the exchange rate back then was a :banana::banana::banana::banana:, now its on a 1-1
ok so here's the plan:
1. I make sure my mortgage payments are covered for the next year
2. I shoot you a PM
3. I post pics! :D
Let me go sell a kidney first

SR-X is in production and will be available the 2nd week of April.
I will have my Asus by mid-April. Just ordered it yesterday. CPUs will arrive even sooner.

Attachment 124738
:shocked: So thats where my stork went.. Grrrrr :p:
id love to know what the ppd for these monsters is going to be .. I have the asus dual socket board coming and one of these chips for now . Will add the second one in a month or so once i save up for it .
Cant believe im spending this much for non overclockable chips but i cant help but lust after that much power and what it will do on wcg :D
Enjoy them chips and please post numbers quick :D
Cheers and kind regards !
P.S. On a side note.. i know these chips will work in the Rampage IV extreme. Anyone tried yet to see if they can be overclocked past 108 BCLK on that board ?
