but i think all is not lost in your case,unlock the bios try 1.16v i bet it would stable and be ok temp wise.
here is my 1.08 vid card with shams unlocked cold bios.
1.16V AIR many repeated runs temps stayed ok

speaking of myths:p:
i have two cards(same 1.08v)the one on dice i found is a poor scorer bench wise.last night 3d03 1050 @1.21v nature would be off 7-8k i found that its just slower when benching then this card :(
this cards turn for dice now.:D

Any one thinking of buying GTX580 ,I think should wait till HD6970 come out & I think 6970 will be or could be 5-10% faster than 580 .......

& when 6970 come out there would be much more options to think off.

cowie, what does the cold bios voltage go up to? I saw you got a revised bios over on guru3d forums too...how is that one working? Using afterburner?

I test gt2 and gt4 for gpu clocks, gt1 and gt3 for cpu then full run.
950 for all tests stock cooling 1.16v.
My "diced" card was easy to run 1070+ 1.21v but gt2 and gt4 was sucky 709fps max.I have found it to be a low scoring card NOT RELATED temps.
tested in vantage/3d03 @900/925/950 air on each + same os,bios and rig.
right now i am switching the gpu pot for the good card,but only dust left in cooler no more dice :shakes: :D

You have "coldslow", phenomen happen on GTX 480 too. You need a modded bios to fix this.

You can unlock bios to 1.21volts max,i use ab or NVI both work.
Software tested spot on with DDM at most if not all settings.

Thanks. Ok yes I see sham's is 1.21 now. ATM, I can't get 950 core stable with 1.16v stock cooling, or anything above.:mad:

It would be intresting to see result on 980x! Am upgrading to a 980x next week if everything goes to plan with a 580! Currently selling my 480!

Cowie, that evga BIOS won't work. It's only 52k and the 580 bios is around 82k. There is apparently a bug with gpu-z, and it dumps the bios incorrectly. You have to use nvFlash v5.100 to dump to get the correct image.

Go here and pick up a correct evga bios

Is there any chance to do the crysis warhead bench on full settings 16xAA using 1920x1080 on a 580 just to see where my 480 fairs!
