I switched my Ninja 2 rev. B for a H50 about 3 weeks ago. I am not happy with the performance so far, the pump is clicking, it heats up everything in the system and it is HOTTER in every scenario than my Ninja with two low RPM fans.
One of these days I'm gonna order a kit from Chilled PC, not so sure if its gonna fit the case though.
Thx for calling me indirectly biased, i use all review hardware stock, as delivered in the box. If there's no backplate I will use it without, etc... so yes I don't lap the TRUE , my sample however is too loose so I applied the washer trick (true black TRUE doesn't has the need for the mod), lapping it no...that's influencing results...Quote:

Is this the H50's fault, nope. This is typical with watercoolingt. Plus again I stated that the H50 unit works better in some cases then in others... read the review it's all in there !!
Try LinX all ram used... then come back and argue, have you ever tried prime Custom 20K - 20K for 1-2 hours ? Calculated the average temps ?
Beleive what you want mate, I don't give a ... (starts with H and ends on a T) what you think of me, but I definetably know you ain't found the holy grail yet...
I know what I tested and how I tested it and that's enough for me... and by the way I had 2 units as the first one had some manufacturers flaws and was underperforming an average off 1-3°c then the 2nd unit...
And I assume that your IFX14 has the same performance then as the TRUE 120 ?
To which fan header did you hook up the pump mate ? I had some issues with the DFI AMD board, I hooked up the pump straight to the PSU to get full rpm.. might give that a go... otherwise RMA the kit, till you get a better one...Quote:

I'm not calling you names, I'm just observing things. And so far I think if I were a Corsair employee your test would be very satisfying. You think the price is a pro, I disagree because an air cooler will last longer, you find the mounting kit ok I think anything plastic is crap, you found it on par with high end coolers I think you chose the one high end cooler that would look bad when compared to the H50.
If your regular readers enjoy your tests I guess its all good. Others are harder to please. :)
1) I think the TRUE is one of the most widespread coolers, I use it daily on all my platforms for pretesting... then I switch to phase to end up with LN2 for final bench runs... it might not be the best, but it remains one of the top performers... seems to me you think I delibirately twisted performance in some sort of way. To please Corsair ?
2) I try to keep my reviews as basic as possible, I myself don't like a zillions of graphs. I try to put myself in the readers position , most just switch to the result and verdict pages anyway...
3) Like I mentioned Corsair wasn't happy due to the fact they claimed a 10°C win over the TRUE. My first review sample was on par or just slightly behind my biased TRUE setup . The new sample was better. You want to know why ? First sample had 2 screws slightly protruding on the base, not noticeable with S775 and AM3 tests, but on I7 it had lesser contact and performance impact was bigger.
4) The plastic mount is easy to use and provides perfect pressure on a non lapped CPU. If you lap your CPU you might end up in the same way as with the Swiftech kits... some things are precalculated and changing the variables ain't a good thing...
5) If you don't like my reviews so be it, but I see to many flaws in that review you pointed out (written by or not by you), if that's your bible, good for you... to me if a reviwer can't even adhere to a 5 step manual coz he thinks he reinvented the wheel again ...
6) But in the long run test results are very similar... as the IFX14 is a few degrees better then a TRUE... so aren't the TRUE and H50 pretty matched in some builds ? some builds better, some slightly worse... al depending on the variables...
7) IFX14 it's a :banana::banana::banana::banana:load more expensive too then the H50 in my country H50 retails at 60 euro's vs 75 for the IFX with fan. If that's worth the 3-4°C okay, but loads of cases can't manage an IFX14 nor TRUE install.
I'm done discussing this as maybe you don't even own the H50 and are solely basing yourself on some statements or pure speculating from the darkest part of your brain...

^ edit: i do reviews here in my country. too. mostly asus products because we're near taiwan. i may be the only reviewer here to represent. nothing big like yours probably but i enjoy the high-end stuff that goes through my way :). currently working on Asus Maximus Formula III.
I have this cooler too and was previously using the Xigmatek HDT-S1283. The Xigmatek just couldn't do 4.0 GHz because of temperature-induced instability (8-9c near TjMax) but this one can at 20c (or more depending on ambient temps) before TjMax. The one thing I love about this cooler is that it gives me access to the socket area, transistors and capacitors so I can probe my DMM in for actual voltage measurements. Performance-wise, I must say its very good and the price makes it even better. For me, the noise and access it brings is a consolation (not to mention less stress on the motherboard itself).
No need to defend yourself here mate. There a numerous posters in this thread that concur with your review findings in general. That is the the H50 is a simple, quiet, and effective cooling solution that makes a great alternative to some of the top end air coolers. No lapping or modding needed. Install it straight up for good performance, and with 2 fans for better performance.Quote:

Nice writeup Leeghoofd :up:, just love my little old H50. The H50 does the job very well for how I use my rig.
I think some of you guys missed the point: almost any aftermarket cooler will do a decent job on an 775/i5/AMD cpu, as long as the sensors aren't messed up, for half the price of a H50 or Megahalems. I was disputing the results on 1366.
I suggest you read the xbit article again, they've used the same fan config for both setups. I think the H50 is pretty poor at low rpm.
This little thing looks really good, I think i'm going to get one for my lan system before next summer assembly :)
Has anyone tried using the H50 either on a dual-CPU rig, or mounting the radiator on the top (inside) of a chassis with a top-mounted power supply? I'm wondering if the tubes are long enough. If they aren't, would it work to hang it below an existing fan?

There is a 230+ page thread at OC.net on the cooler. Several user's have modded the H50. The page I've linked to (215), has an image of a mod with res. There are several mods where member kept the system a closed loop, but you'll have to search around the thread. :D

Hi guys I have been using a True with my Q6600 im upgrading to a I7 920 will the H50 be good enough for an oce of 4.2-4.4ghz and will it fit in my antec 900 I have a high cfm fan that I use on my true that I would put on the H50.
Sorry for the late reply :) It is indeed at max RPM at all times, can I really RMA it just because it cant handle my OC? Sweden and its bureaucracy will prolly make a short deal of that :P
So what fans would you all suggest. I have a push pull right now with my old Antec 120s from my Antec 900 case. They seem to be doing a good job but I didnt know if there were any other fans that would do better.
i'm guessing pump and/or rad orientation doesn't matter since this is a closed loop? i'm installing it where the tubes of rad is closer to the outer edge, and the pump is upside down and the tubes are on top. if this is a bad way to install it, someone please let me know.
Chewie ever think about cutting out the built in fan grill in the back for better airflow?
Cannot be more impressed with this Corsair H50.
Just gutted my PC out to sell it on, put it into a Coolermaster 690 Advanced II fitted the H50 with two Akasa AK-FN057 Apache fans, push-pull obviously.
The results are just amazing to put it bluntly:
Ambient temp. 16C

Maximum temp. Never went over 65 in the end using OCCT.
Edit: Let me add, before this i was using the Megahalems Rev B cooler, and it performs almost the same, 1-2 degrees difference max at load, the H50 is cooler at idle though..
But the H50 is quieter and the motherboard is also cooler using this by a good 3-4 degrees (Gigabyte UD5).
I'm happy. I installed an H50 to replace a black TRUE - installed with same fan config, 2x 1600 scythe slipstream in push/pull - 20 passes of LinX nets ~4*C higher max temp (i5 750, 20x200 @ 1.34 bios) - but overall i'm very happy with it. less stress on the motherboard and it's not as crowded on my small M3G. plus i think it looks pretty cool. :)

I think I am going to use a H50 for my HTPC build... Would work awesome on a stock i7-920 (it was a crap batch and I got it cheap, thats why I am using it in the htpc)
It just reminds me my H2O adventure beginning. It was thermaltake big water about 6 year ago. I had immediately replace it after 1 month.even nOOb realized that all-in-one ready LC sets are not worth the money.my 2cents.
