Our PEM standoffs are M3. If your block uses M3 screws, it should, otherwise, you need to change your block screws.
I hope it's sturdy enough. I've had quite a difficult time not bending my board with Apogee's GTX backplate.
However the need for a backplate in larger 1366 socket is indeed greater and yours will surely lead the way for other wb manufacturers as well.
Has anyone tired any i7 backplates yet? Also anyone know of one that works with an EK supreme? (I want to make sure that I buy the right thing)
Sorry for the minor thread necro (1 month), but I have been searching for a good backplate to use with an EK Supreme on a 1366 board (DFI LP UT X58).
I noticed that mounting the ek block, the bolts come through the board and then the springs go down on top of the bolts - tightened with a nut. Pictured here
The likely candidates for backplates seem to be:
type 1
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/lga13sobbowi.html (no name)
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thax13bo.html (thermalright)
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thlgboreboxb.html (thermalright)
or type 2
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swapforincoi.html (the swiftech bracket talked about in this thread)
It seems to me that the type 1 backplates all have the screws going in to the plate rather than bolts coming out. The Swiftech bracket I am not sure on.
If anyone has advice on what to use for a 1366 backplate with an EK Supreme, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,

i like the koolance best...
you only sandwich the cpu cage...
anyone using the Ek supreme w/ the RIIE? if so which backplate works? thanks
I used the TRUE backplate and drilled out the screw posts.
What about Ek's own offering?
What kind of availability does that have in the US? As much as I'd like to have the EK backplate, I haven't been able to find it anywhere in US shops. Shipping a small metal shim that costs < 5 USD from Slovenia doesn't sound cheap or fast.Quote:

Pre-post edit : looks like FrozenCPU carries it here.

Or PPC...
That is a hold down plate released before support for 1366 was integrated to the EK Supreme, and not a backplate (afaik).Quote:

Of course it is... Sorry about that!
I don't know if the thread sizes will work, but I really like the GTZ the best out of all the ones I've seen. Every other backplate I've seen has the issue of going on top of the back of the CPU socket. There are SMT components in there that need to disipate heat, but with some of these backplates heat is trapped in there. The GTZ is the only one I've seen that properly supports the board without interferring with the back of the socket on the i7's.
It's also possible to modify the GTZ backplate by drilling, drilling and retapping, drilling and using pem nuts, or rivetnuts. There is lots of possibilities there. :)
Yes that one works out great. Just drill the holes and your good to go. I am using it on my supreme and it worked out great. Also you might want to clip your standoffs in the back, at least on the p6t...
