W1zzard, Could you possibly use the Sphere test demo for Crysis on DX10 Very High? Since I know there is a thread in Benchmark section of the forums where tons of users did that test and we have results to compare it to and such.
GAH! monday it is then :P Now my curiosity is completely piqued.
^ LOL I understand, but i still kind of think they would want this to get out to create buzz about these cards no?.........
Here are two facts about the internet. Don't let someone take a nude picture of you and don't let your preliminary review get leaked!:D
I've been doing my searching for GTX 280 facts;) and although I'm not looking for W1zzard's review, you can't miss it. Anyway, I'll wait for the final review and the price to drop a few dollars.
Information wants to be free I guess. This is so frustrating. Any chance someone who saw the post before it was deleted can give me some kind of summary? A small hint? Some kind of reference to another web site that has the info? I have looked through the forums of some other web sites and haven't found anything on this leak.
techpowerup review gtx280 chached link. It's probably gone by now.
ndas are in place for a reason. it gives everyboy a fair amount of time to work on their articles. also it is unfair to other publications if someone posts all their stuff early, takes all the traffic and on launch day other sites end up with less traffic. also without nda its impossible to have products in stores on launch day because there is no launch day. some fast shops would sell, slower ones not
Funny, because this happened at least once before, and once before that as well if I recall. Happened with the 8800GTX, and I think as well with the 1950XT.
Now, either you guys are really not smart by just putting up a review that everyone can access, which I highly doubt, or you just hit the nail on the head, and once again Techpowerup is number one in all forum threads, and gets all the traffic, because you planned it that way.
Well done, gotta give it to you guys.
But don't take people for fools seriously. Three times, you mysteriously post your review early, and then take it off-line again. Yea, maybe once it was a mistake, but twice? Or three times? C'mon.
Why do you deal so much with Crysis scores? That game is a failure, its engine has been hardly licensed by anyone.
Actually, there are lots of examples of un-optimized games that kill your gpu. Pick up Lost Planet or DMC 4 for the PC.
Crysis laughs its ass off by screwing PC users by not optimizing their games for the mainstream, as so many of today's developers do to make sure their games are playable by a wide audience.
I know tons of friends impressed by the graphics in Crysis having bought the game for their Dell and HP PCs only to return it as they couldn't run it for squat. There will be future generations of cards that will play it at 60 fps at some of the resolutions that we are talking about today, but it will take time because of the developer's decision not to optimize for a broad range of hardware, especially at higher resolutions. It's the reason that they have less than 3 licenses sold for the game engine since the engine's inception, despite all the hype that people attribute to it.
It's the reason they don't want to release it for the PS3 and Xbox 360, even though they can. They'd have to go back and optimize it for those platforms and the game would look amazing at 30fps solid once its optimized which would negate the hardhips they've given PC users who have spent $1000s on hardware trying to run it when an X360 can run it :p:
Perkam
WTF? I ran DMC4 demo and ran demo benchmarks on my rig and always got FPS above 60, even with 8xAA, so I don't know what you'r talking about, DMC4 is a pretty port, but is a bit ugly (graphics wise)...
That's false. You have medium/low settings to run with mainstream GCs.
If they wanted to run it with such impressive graphics, it wouldn't be their HPs and Dells to provide hardware to do so... Temos pena...
You wanted Crysis graphics to run maxed out on 8500GT? Crytek doesn't make miracles. You have low settings though, use them if your hardware sucks.
Even some console games have single digit framerates at times, and, personally, I couldn't care less about consoles anyway. Do you really think Crysis would run maxed out @ 720p very high on consoles, and that would piss off PC Gamers?
You are a believer man.
