Hi all, just popped over from the main maximus formula thread to share some of my findings with ya all.
At present I am water cooling my complete system, that is CPU, NB and two gfx cards. With a stock motherboard, ie no re-seating the NB/SB with AS5, my idle temps are; MB 45c, NB 48c, SB 49. It will prime all day with an OC of 356 x 9, however I can't go any higher as my CPU temps will hit over 80c at 400 x9. I know why this is so as I'm probably trying to cool to much with my two fan swiftech rad.
However, on my kitchen table I have a prep'd replacement, reseated and gooped nb/sb, motherboard ready to go in. I'm hoping to see quite an improvement in my motherboard nb/sb temps once I've done so, but at the moment I'm waiting upon a delivery of the correct tubing, ordered the wrong size, damm this mm to inches confuses me lol.
Once I've kitted it all up I'll be able to post my findings, if you're interested, by the end of the week, I hope...

Look at my signature. I also begun with with the same Swiftech kit you have. The MCR-220 couldn't deal with my Q6600 B3 heat dissipation, even at 3.2GHz. It was too hot and I had my fans at 12v to deal with itQuote:

As you're mounting the circuit, better install it while your PC is open. But of course, you know you'll suerely have to mod your case to fit a triple rad

talonman, did you see the link to my post in the other thread??? i dropped 14*C by reseating with mx-2 and adding watercooling to the NB... and that was with a .04 voltage increase from the previous NBv setting. i'm in the middle of redoing some stuff iwth the system but i'll get you an update if anything changes. let me know if you need more info.
derek, try running OCCT Beta with the slider all the way to the ram side and see what your NB temps are.

Its worth doing on any of these recent boards with N/B and S/B joined by a heat pipe.
Ensuring that each end is flat to its chip, at the same time, can be done with a piece of glass.
Feel free to post all the best remount links that involve using the stock ROG cooling, or good removal instructions.

i'm a noob too with watercooling and whatnot... it was definately worth it. i went with Artic Silver MX-2 because it was high on the test list. i can't remember where the list was on here but i think it might have been in the WC'ing section. i'll get you the info for your thread once i get everything set up (raid and whatnot). just remember, the block should come off relatively easy... if not then add more heat with the hair dryer. i used a screw driver inbetween the two and very very lightly twisted it till it came off. if it didn't budge, i added more heat and repeated. that stuff is like concrete. it's aweful!!!!!Quote:

Mabey mixing my AS adhesive, with standerd AS5 or AS ceramic would be best?

CPU, NB has one already correct, and does our SB actually need one, or are the pins good enouigh?
If I go for the backplate thing, do I need spacers also, to prevent it from shorting out my mobo?

Conclusion:
There is no problem to remove asus cooling - of course when you use for example a hair dryer :) Swiftech mcw30 fit ok.
