I understand but the apogee base is 3mm thick! And, when that is bowed and mounted it looks like a fun house mirror after! With your base being so thin, it will most certainly distort even worse... The step only needs to be .3mm deep...

Granted, I am probably in the minority there :)
Possibly swinging my vote to the Fuzion ATM, will have to settle for just 2 EK blocks in my system :doh:

Interesting, it looks to have a very thin base.
I always thought you would want the thinnest base possible until just recently. It was one of the nagging thoughts in my mind and one of many reasons for buying my own mill. But testing my own block proved otherwise...
V1 & V2 = Base Thickness = .085" - Fairly thin, but good results, V2 only had a nozzle change.
V3, no internal change, milled base down only.
I milled the base down to .045" - Very thin. temperatures went up by several degrees!
I'm going thicker on V4 and will test in thickness increments to see if I can find that magical optimum thickness.
My conclusion was that base thickness serves an important role in collecting and distributing the heat into the pins...too thin and you end up just cooling from the pins directly above the die. Apparently the heat conductivity properties of copper are good enough that some thickness and the benefit of distributing that heat outwiegh the benefits of a super thin base. Obviously there is some sort of balance between base thickness and the surface area of the pins it's collecting, but I no longer think along the "thinner the better" lines.
This "heat spreading" effect appears to have some similarities to the results Bill Adams did with this cold plate C/W testing.

I used my custum mounting for all the blocks. It has custum backplate, M4 screw and quite strong springs. This also means that i had to widden mount holes on Fusion and Apogee.
I tested with dual Orthos Prime Small FFT's, priority 9, 10min For temperature I used Core Temp for core temperatures and Fluke for water temp.
The graph shows delta temperature, average temperature of all 4 cores - water temp.
I didn't measure flow rate, but it is noticable slower than with Apogee or Fusion. Will do that in near future. And for this test I used the most restrictive variation of Supreme block

p.s. Prototype XY is different block we are working on, it is less restritive, it is not clear if it will ever see the world :D

Interesting design. Interesting performance numbers but I'll wait until those get independently verified by a larger group of people here before I really comment on it since it sounds to me almost a little too good to be true (imho).

Eddy - can't tell from the pics - is it pin grid or microchannel?? (If microchannel, explains how he manages thinning of the base - will have more rigidity than the equivalent design with pin grid)
Marci, if you will, would you enlighten me on microchannel? I'm not familiar with that tech...
It looks good, but I only buy blocks with acrylic tops... I do buy partly on the concept of aesthetics, though I don't buy crap either way. You can have both, if you're willing to either look hard enough or make your own...

i think I am going to order one of these asap...but will wait for confirmation of results, and results against a bowed nozzled fuzion.
looks like the block is built like a tire, the coper acts like a flexible membrane contouring to whatever shape intel makes there ihs while the jet plate distributes the load from the center support. (that also bows the block the proper way instead of trying to pinch the corners):up:

Results look promising, if it's close to the d-tek with a nozzle and bowing, then I might look into one.
Nevertheless, no reason to get all excited until it's actually released & reviewed a bit.
