Thanks, I'll be watching for it, having a hard time finding a boxed QX9650? So many good games out, I want my new rig....
Thanks, I also found this.....
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...tCode=10007298
I found this also, which I'm leaning towards a big difference for me living in California, no tax, but I never heard of them, Resellers ratings has a good report, but there not in stock!
http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin/shop/...er_id=!ORDERID!
Ok, I've installed my QX9650.
And this is my report:
At first I was shocked and afraid, but now I'm fine and my panic is over.
I compared my results with the ones on this official thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=165636
this is about the first run on air for a QX9650
Ok my panic is over... my temps are just fine. I'm reviewing the pics from that thread.
So... Let's add this factors...
My settings:
10x400 @ 1.4V.
On Idle I'm sitting around 36C perfect.
On Load: I'm getting 75C tops while stressing 4 cores Prime 95
That's 25C to Tjunction remaining.
This is kind of what it was achieved by pcCI2Minimal @ 4100, but with extra factors to consider.
-Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, Lapped Mirror finish.
-Arctic Silver 5 paste.
-Most important Case doors of my P182 enclosure closed.
-120mm CPU and exhaust fan undervolted @ 1024RPM, I'm not running my fans full speed, I like silence.
-And on top of that to make things worse, I have a 8800Ultra Overclocked inside that case. ( a freaking furnace), in my experience from switching my former GPU to this one it adds 5-7C more to the CPU temp.
-And finally Ambient temp of 75F = 23C
The run on air that pcCI2Minimal , if I'm not wrong and for the pictures I see it was done with the motherboard outside the case in the air and the stock cooler.
I've rechecked and re-installed my TRUE 120 and AS5 paste again. (Also note I have the coin/washer mod made on this cooler). There could be absolutely nothing wrong.
So now you have it, for the ones interested that's the test inside a case with a Thermalright 120 Extreme.
Thanks pcCI2Minimal for providing me with the settings I neded, a word or a suggestion is really appreciated. I really hope I'm not wrong.

Hmmm this seems high för a lower-temp processor..
at only 1.40?
maybe Coretemp is wrong as it was for the new G0 processors, i dont think that Tjunction is 100 at this one?
1.40 VCORE is the sweetspot for 4.00Ghz.
Tried 1.385 It won't load into windows.
For what I read this processor handles stock clocks very nice @ 1.250 Vcore
OK, I've read previously on this thread that the default memory subtimings are too tight for ram speeds above 1333 and need to be loosened. I've loosened, and loosened, and loosened both timings and subtimings to ridiculous levels, but I am not able to boot with ram at 1600 or 1800 no matter what I try. I've tried two different sets of DDR3 1800 sticks (Corsair and Cellshock). I know the ram sticks are good because they worked great in a prior P5K Deluxe board. I've also tried all the different available bios versions, and vdimm up to 2.1 (spec is 2.0 and 1.9 for these ram sets respectively). Is there anything else I should try or is time to banish this board to the folding farm and bring my nice P5K back to the starting team?
Why don't you try leaving the Dram Voltages on AUTO...Leave the SPD(timings) on AUTO and try the frequencies 1800 and then 1600.
Se I've had a similar problem with my Crucial memory.
I can run them @ 1333Mhz or @1600Mhz without problems and with 601. But as I saw in another review, if I try anything between 1333 and 1600 the computer won't boot or if it does it won't load windows and give me a BSOD.
Funny, but it think you'll need to find a sweetspot. Just set all timings and dram voltages to AUTO, and play with the frequencies.
Thanks Oscar I will move around the fsb and see if some different dram speeds between 1333 and 1800 might be sweet spots. I have to say though, I am not seeing anything so far to recommend the Asus X38 board over their P35 (I've sworn off dual gpus :D ).
I've been doing some research on DDR3, and this is what is called a "dead zone". There are certain frequencies on these DDR3 modules, that no matter what you do, it won't work.
It is better to isolate the problem by searching the reight freuqncy first, and THEN and only THEN adjust VDram and Timings.
It still seems strange to me that the very same ram sticks ran fine at 900mhz, 7-6-5-18 primary timings, on a P5K3 Deluxe board. If the same settings won't boot at all on the P5E3 doesn't that suggest the issue is with the board?
Im starting more and more disliking the P5E3 deluxe...
its just bringing me more and more problems :)
now i got this "famous" BSOD that wont go away, and that nobody got a cure for.. its called the 0x00000124 BSOD... and it comes to people with bad luck, and NO ONE have the answer to whyyy, people have tried everything, the only way i think help are to change MB.. :sss
Maybe is time for me to post my extense investigation and troubleshooting on BSODs. This was done with my former system. Until this date, I haven't have had any random BSOD fbecause of the precautions.
It's here:
http://www.ngohq.com/ati-discussion/...-death-et.html
Could be sound driver related? The 124 is somehow linked to that as well.
And for what you'll read on that thread, yes,I've had the bad luck, but with some research I conquered the problem.
The problem is not bad luck, I think it is more the lack of research and commitment from hardware developers to solve this universal problem.
Hey BTW, if not of these suggestions work for you, you should run mem-test onyour memory. It could be a bad stick going wack-o on you.
(Which is the reason why I chose Crucial Ballistix for this rig). Expensive? I don't care, I've haven't had any headaches.
I really hope it helps.
Aivas, I can tell you I've owned 5 Asus motherboards on a row in my last 5 rigs&upgrades. Asus mobos are very sensitive with memory.
Carp, even until 504 my Crucial were not totally compatible, to tell you sometimes I booted with 4096 and other times with 3132!! So give it a while, I'm sure they will come up with the magic bios.
In fact before getting my memory I did a google research and typed "p5e3 ÿour memory brand&model" and found many reviews on mine giving me the exact settings I needed, even a review on my memory revealed that dead zone with frequencies.
I went back to the 0504 bios since the 0601 seems to lose my X-Fi sound card and sometimes loses both my USB mouse and keyboard when in Windows. I will shut both of them down I am forced to do a reset. That bios lost my X-Fi card twice in 1 day and loss of both mouse and keyboard 3 times.
2 questions for the guys running your P5E3.
1) For those having problems with the USB keyboards/mouses not being recognized or disconnected by the mobo, where in the motherboard did you plug the USB keyboard? On the first 2 USB? On the 2 other USB's near LAN1 or the USBs in LAN 2?
Asus P5 WDH had an issue wit that depending on where you connect your USB devices, and it's because of the wake/up button implementation of the remote control.
2) For those of you running sound cards (no the onboard sound) which PCI slot are you using... the first one above the GPU or the second one at the bottom?
Best run with Patriot 1333 ddr3 2 x 2048 sticks on the P5E3:
1672 MHZ, @ 7,6,6,15,T1.
nb: 1.69v
mem: 1.96.... ouch
Latency @45.6,, read 11036..
I wrote to Patriot and asked if it would be acceptable to raise to 1.9v like the newer pc31500 stick ratings, and to my suprise they said yes, but life expentcy could be less.. no mention of warranty violation..
I am about at the limit, without doing extreme vt on cpu and ram..
I ran 32m super pi and prime 95 small ftt simultainiously and held up ok, so reasionably happy with stability.. need to do extended testing but waiting for dominator fans for ram first.. although I have the 4 120 fans blowing on the MB for now from the side panel which I have mounted the two 240 rads.
Sorry for the poor screeny but tried to keep the size down.
I am now eyeing up the Adata 1900x or 2000x sticks but dont know where to get them from.
Question
I have never seen the express gate come up, although its enabled in BIOS, even with the bios that came with the board it never worked, ANY IDEAS??
Very good run needforspeed!
But with those voltages I wonder for how long, areyou running 24/7?
Anyone have any info about the suposedly new BIOS 702? I wonder if anyone have tried it, so I can post it in the downloads at the starting page of this thread....
Have you tried 7,6,6,18 1T? I bet it bootup. But you don't have the motherboard anymore or just simply quit using it. I can run my Corsair at 1800 at 7,6,6,18 1T on a everyday basis @2.04v. 24/7 usage.
Here is a screen shot for you.
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=274524
There were some one earlier in this thread that wrote that he had a "beta" bios that wasnt out and called 702.. so its from that :)
Hey malkiewicz:
I wonder, is your WI/FI card installed on the motherboard. What I mean is if you physically removed it. Because I had problems with EG until I put it back. (Check first page on this thread).
What cooler are you using... is it properly seated?
Also I suggest not to contact Tech Support other than to RMA your board. In my experience it has been a waste of my time to deal with ignorants on the phone, who don't even know what EG is... :-)
That's why I made this thread in the first place... and it will be the only place I will use from now on...
About 0702 still no info, but it's true someone mentioned it...
