DB Updated. :D
Still need to know what voltage you're running DriveEuro.
2.7v, sorry. 2.6v seemed to work fine though also.
I can't tinker with it now. I'm getting another dual Xeon 1.6LV up and ready for F@H :D
argh, i'm going to have to run some cl3 to get back in the top 5, lol
Nugzo... Is your ram stable day to day at 285mhz with 2.8v? I was thinking about pushing a bit more...

What AMD64 is hittin 2900mhz stable atm? besides the FX's. I cant afford them.
I got a question about A64 Tweaker.
When you change values in A64 Tweaker, and click set. Does that become the default values of your computer? If not how do you make it your default values, meaning when you boot up your computer the timings you adjusted before is what is in effect?
I suppose I can manually set them in the Bios, but my Bios doesn't have all those parameters. Sorry for the noob question, but any help is greatly appreciated
When you use A64 Tweaker it only temporarily sets those setting until you restart. Once you restart the bios reconfigures the timings according to what you have IT set to. Also, in A64 Tweaker you can hit File - "Apply settings at startup". That will make A64 tweaker set those setting every time you boot to windows.
DriveEuro and Wazzle, if you guys could get me a screen of super finished, not in the menu, that'd be great. I know it's the same thing, but it'd make some people feel better.
Got one for ya ! 285mhz !
Using 704-1 bios

Well guys, here is the deal so far (very preliminary)
I had some issues this evening with well how can I put this, it stemmed around finally the NVIDIA Raid array creation process. What would happen is I created my Raid 0 on 2xSATA raptors 36GB well after consequental reboot the bios would NOT go to where it tries a boot device, would do everything up to that point, processor and mem ID etc. Since this is my first DFI board I really had no idea what I was doing, I tried to set memtest upon boot and it didn't work so I thought I was missing something to get it to work.
Long story short everytime I reloaded to optimal settings I could boot to XP boot CD, finally I narrrowed it down to the Nvidia Raid, I wiped the drives and instead of optimal stripe size I selected 128k stripe size and to wipe the drives again.
Now at 5am I am testing... testing... so far I am only doing memtest86 I have tested 250, 260, 270, 280 FSB and no errors test #5 is the most torturous right? I have ran the 4400+ at 2600 so far but naturally with no XP OS yet I am unable to prime test the cores.
Can someone please help me out and give me the links to all the verification pages so I can be as helpful to everyone else as you all have been to me in making my newest PC upgrade decision? Basically what version of Prime and what other utilities are the best to guarantee I give accurate overclocking results and verified results.
Look forward to providing much more information tomorrow, incidentally if this CPU and RAM overclock like a champ it will be the first time I've gotten lucky in my selections in about 5 yrs. Running ram at 2.8v btw going to try 290 next 3-3-3-8 1T default and all set to auto in bios don't know how to tweak yet
Well I did 290 and failed then went back to 285 and failed on test #5, however when I went back into bios I was going to tweak a couple settings to match Major when I noticed my DRAM was set to 2.6v  must have been when I was troubleshooting POST issues and reverted back to optimal settings.
Anyway back at 285 again and 2.8v this time, hoping to pass memtest86 @ 290 after 285, lots of cooling on the ram I have 3x120mm and 1x92mm fans right now waiting on 2 replacement 120mm fans that are 50% more CFM and only 41db
Strange, setting to 2.8v started to give me a couple errors in test 4, even at the previously tested OK @ 280fsb test 4 gave me some errors.
I went to 2.7v and 280 is ok now again. Perhaps this set of ram doesn't like voltage too much?? I find it a bit odd since the specs of the ram are 3-4-4-8 2.8v. Oh ya and I wonder why it autodetects at 3-3-3-8 instead of the specs posted on crucial's site...
Going to try 285 again because it had only failed at test 4, don't think 290 will make it but will try 285-289 and see how I do at 2.7v
If anyone has some ram tweaks to try in bios I'd like to know
Just started testing my 2 x 1 Crucial B Tracer sticks. I`m running them on a IC7- MAX3. I use memtest 86 for testing.
Tested 250 , 3-3-3-8 @ 2,8v ok
Tested 255 , 3-3-3-8 @ 2,8v fail
Tested 255 , 3-3-3-8 @ 2,6v ok
Now testing 260 3-3-3-8 @ 2,6 ...
Looks like this modules prefer low voltage.

I put back to 250 again, running 2.7v maybe I should leave at 2.6v and try the 280 again? Seems I had good luck when I forgot to mess with voltage lol, but on crucials site it does say 2.8v
maybe 2.7
This is strange, I moved the multi up to 9x instead of the 8x it was at and now I'm getting no errors at 2.6 / 280  Does the multi affect DRAM speed? Just isn't logical to me.... I even ran Test 5 for 5 passes alone and no errors. Going to try 8x again to see if I can reproduce the errors I was getting in test 5
Yep when I moved multi back to 8x I got a slew of errors on test 5. It is at 9 again just got back from getting some fast food and at 9x multi 280x9 for 2521 according to memtest, so far it is 80% done with complete pass 1 and no errors passed test 5 with flying colors.
Am I just too much of a noob with this AMD / Nforce or is this odd?
Wow, nice sticks Pentium777, keep workin on em and get me some cpu-z verified links and super pi 32m. :toast:

dont know if this has been said but i cant find the 1gb ballistx anywhere on newegg anymore.
direct from crucial only place now?
Crucial is technically out of stock right now too...I just got an email saying that the stuff I'm getting back on RMA is out of stock and will be delayed 10 days (this is taking bloody forever to get some good 1GB sticks that work). I read somewhere that the current lines are being phased out and will be replaced by _______. Not sure if it's better or worse yet either.
Replaced by what exactly?
We wish we knew
I know whats going on. There are changing to an new process. A friend of mine is a layout enginer at Micron and the mig change is al new layout has to be on the new process, and Im thinking its 90nm or 65nm. The new process has been up for 6 to 9 months now.Quote:

Left all the dram settings to optimal from BIOS 623-3, changed to 2.9v probably could have run lower voltage since my sticks don't seem to like a lot of volts. 3-3-3-8 1T for sure and whatever DFI's optimal settings load is. I had a nightmare when I tried to mess with the dram speed or whatever from Normal to Fast, forgot I had changed it and had very serious stability problems so I decided not to mess around with them, optimal seems pretty good
Great work Pentium777.. You sorry sack of $#@! !! No just kidding i tried and tried for 287 and couldnt get it. Guess imma have to try and try some more!!
How do u like the AMD side of the fence? Intel better watch out. Every year AMD gets better and better.
Intel got better this year too with the Dothan. If there was a Dothan mainboard with PCI-E I bet there would be a LOT of people running that.
Well it was a pain in the @#$% to get going thankfully I got it all figured out, mainly a lot of setting that can fubar you with the DFI board is what hung me up. That dram from Normal to Fast really screwed me badly.Quote:

Anyway my 287 although is stable isn't something I'd want 24/7 just like you running 255 24/7 I'll be putting it back down a bit to get max OC of CPU. What do you think is the safest and highest Vcore to run?
AMD is on top right now with X2 imo, Intel is getting stomped, I game a lot and this is just the best CPU all around there is.
Not real sure bout max vcore for x2. I'm pushin 1.7 on my sandiego and major is over 1.7 on his x2. I'm still on air so kinda scared to go above 1.7. I'll be ordering a swiftech water cooling kit soon. Anybody have any suggestions for water?
Ok back to business.. Bios 704-2 Optimized Defaults + tref change to 0780 (thanks pentium777) 288*9 2.8v 32m passed very first run. No tweaking needed. Only change from optimized was 0780 tref which pentium777 used for his 287. Going for 290 after dinner.
CPU-Z 288*9 2.8v
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/148/2887oc.th.jpg
So we can confirm that tref 0780 and/or bios 704-2 yields the better OCs?
I'm gonna fire up with 0780 to see if I can get higher. I'm still on 6/23 bios...
Remember to be careful with 704 bios. DO NOT use any special vid over 113% or you could fry yor chip.
Nah, don't worry. Still just using 6/23 bios. I still can't get my ram over 285mhz stable. No matter what vcore and tref. I wonder if 704 bios would help. Kinda doubting it though. 270mhz for day to day at 2.6v really isn't all that bad. ;)
EDIT: Still can't get mine over 275mhz stable. Even with 0780 and 3120
704 suprised me. its my favorite

Damnit, just did some more OCing and I borked my hard drive. Tried 270x11 for 2970mhz. Used 1.75v too just to be sure and I crapped up my hard drive. Whole partition got freaked out.

I am on air only if I had water might do 280x10, but my testing in 3dmarks05 have proven that past 2.5ghz there is very little improvement in real world 3d gaming. Actually about 1 point per mhz which isn't all that good 100mhz OC for 100 points 3dmark? actually from 2.532 (282x9) it was 8650 or so and 2700 is around 8710 so even less than that. That's at 1024x768 too so think about higher res >=1280x1024 would be gpu bottleneck anyway.

I had to fill out basically enough paperwork to start a bank loan and then the demo price they gave me was practically the price on the market minus about 5%...... Anyway giving them the benefit of the doubt I decided to go through regular "egg" channels to try just 2x512mb of their ram, turned out one stick of ram was bad out of the dual channel 1GB matched set. Returned exchange for Corsair at the time.
I have to say though I have an OCZ powerstream and it went bad within 6 months and tech support (Steve maybe) was excellent got me a new PS quickly and hasslefree. So with all the reading that people like OCZ I guess it is tough to say they aren't good, they probably have great memory just my bad luck at the time.
BTW in case you all curious here I am on XFX 7800 GTX Single card with my 2x1GB Ballistix
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1062325
Still OCing the video should get a bit more out of it.
OCZ has awesome products and pretty damn good service too. i had 2x512 vx gold. Went bad (cold boot issue) they exchanged it for me. I didnt want the VX again so i asked for some tccx and they gave me a set that retailed for $40 more than what i paid for the vx. Returned 2nd day air. If OCZ's memory is even a little better than this ballistix, i will sell the ballistix and get the OCZ.

Googled on "MDAD-522LA" and came up with a lot of hits on Italian sites. Maybe that part number is specific to the Europeon/Italian market. Did you get it as a two stick kit or in single stick packaging?
Do they look like this?

In any case, very nice results. I'd like to try a pair if I can track them down in the U.S.
Nugzo I hate you! I messed around last night (couldn't sleep) and did not feel I could achieve a better clock without serious modifications, also do not have my high CFM fans, I don't think the fans would help since the computer room was about 70'F ambient with AC on full blast.Quote:

Am running 500/1350-1400 on XFX BF2 OC Edition 490/1300 stock, 270x10 1.5v dual cores stable in prime for a few hours but Core 0 craps out, if I run Core 0 at 100% it will not have a problem by itself, so I am going to keep it at the 2700 until more multithreaded apps come out that might stress both cores.
Basically I have dual FX-56s (2.7ghz) for a very reasonable price.
Also my best 3DMarks 2005 was 9142, which beats my friend's FX-53 with dual 6800GT SLI
If anyone else runs 3dmarks 05 I'd like to see some scores.
here are some pics, got them like two sticks from my local dealer, haven't seen the package itself and I don't think they came in pair :)Quote:

CPU 23000-23600 or so
a simple observation...
some days arround release of BF2, I was looking for some 2x1GB sticks, found some cas2 corsairs on newegg, the were ~220$. Now, they're 290$... funny, ain't? :D
I will pm u a key for 3dmark05, but you dont need it for those settings. All the AA and AF settings are forced in the nvidia control panel. All games i play run fine at those settings (bf2, hl2 dm, css, swg) Most games only give u AA or AF in their video options. When u set that stuff in nvidia control panel it forces all of those settings in all games.Quote:

got them from my local reseller (dealer, whatever u name it :)), for a test, wasn't asking the price, but should be ~120€ +-5 (IMO). Dunnow about sending, maybe you should look at some e-stores, like newegg or such, I don't think it would be a best value/price for you, since eg. one CD sent with DHL in London, costed me ~60€.Quote:
