you know, m3n-ht already supports thuban, only improvements should be done ... ;)

In my book no it doesn't. The multipliers don't work and 100mhz above stock hard-locks ie 210HTT. That's not fault of the CPU that's all chipset issues because the MSI board I had previously did the same thing; isolated it to being problems with the integrated gfx card, disabled it and poof 270HTT. This mobo does not have the option to disable therefor I cannot overclock on this board at all. What I have now and have for the last 3 months or so is just enough to POST into the OS and that's it.
I am seriously... seriously tempted to roll back to my MSI board but I really don't feel like ripping my setup apart when I know full well that eventually there will be a Asus bios that addresses my issue. All I'm realistically looking for is 18x-20x that's it. If that range worked 100% of the time or if AI boost gave me the options to set those multis I wouldn't be here. In part my insistance on getting them is because I bought a 1090T and the M3N because the MSI board for months after Thuban's release would not post with it. Granted that's my mistake for not looking into said board before I purchased it, but I honestly thought if it made to official release the multipliers would be working; apparently I was mistaken.
I hate to be a noodge like this I do, but stuff like this reminds me why I stopped buying AMD for a number of years during the A64 days. Why? Motherboard issues which is exactally where I'm at now.
as you own a 1090T you also should be able to OC with VID and the according settings for vcore with K10stat, etc. it works well, just the boot to windows is not OCd ...
I think (and hope) asus will provide a bios which is filled with less bugs than the current one, but it's in my opinion still not a showstopper ...
CH IV 905 bios 5970 games crash to desktop often.Back to 801 no issues.
Intel 80gb rev2 ssd always states ide in bios.Bios 1-4 set to ahci.5-6 ide.Windows/dos says ahci.
Since "next week" is already here. Any news about how much longer it will take for a new bios for the M4A79 already? :confused:Quote:
Update - I will be in Taiwan next week to work on final qualification testing on the new 890/790FX BIOS releases.
(sorry its just so hard to keep on waiting :D )
For CHIV we've not see too many betas .
Altough i read there is a beta being tested internally (?) "Crosshair IV Formula - Memory Clocking, Improved LLC settings, Improved CPU/NB ranges, in beta testing as of 6/30"
Are there any issues preventing this beta from being released to us ? Or will asus directly go for a stable release this time for CHIV .
M4A785-M
any news
and here comes Friday! All my fingers are crossed for a new CHIV bios.
Hello there
Is that any update with Crosshair IV BIOS/Beta BIOS ?
why of course not.
BRING IT ON
looking forward to new bios for m4a89gtd-pro and m4a785-m :)
7/30/2010 Update
I will be posting several new BIOS releases late today for the 890FX and 890GX motherboards based on a completely new AGESA code base. I will warn everyone now that updating to this BIOS code means you cannot flash back to a previous BIOS and we will not have a tool to do it. That said now that we over this programming exercise there will be enhancements to the new code in the future but more importantly the BIOS team is back to work on the 790/780/785/880 chipsets.
i be waiting :)
Will the 790FX boards get this new AGESA code as well?
so at least one more week before there will be something for the m4a79. I guess very soon means something like when its done :P
Update - Might be early tomorrow morning for the BIOS', stuck at SFO after a flight cancellation. ;)
That's one big flight delay =P
Ummm.... What happened to ya Bingo13?
I'm sure you folks have a good bios crew, and I trust the fact that you've been working on LLC & Voltages (which seems to be the biggest problem from my end :()...
I'll be your guinea pig bro even if I can't flash back... ;)
I trust you guys! :D
Waiting somewhat patiently,
Dave
lol...i found that i'm refreshing this post over and over just to wait for Bingo13 :D
A bit like that here, would be nice to have a stable PC and possibly even overclock lol
Perhaps the wife doesn't want him working weekends =P
*sigh*
He is a live guys, don't worry :D
Update -
Sorry guys, had a bit of trouble getting home and a bad bug to boot. I will have the BIOS' released today except for the C4F where we are still trying to confirm a voltage setting with Turbo Core Mode off but LLC on when running VCore above 1.4V.
thank you bingo, really need a bios to fix 89GTD and TD 's 1333 ram bug ,which makes NB 3GHz and 2000 ram impossible。
thanx bingo13, hope the vcore stuck problem for waking up from sleep mode can be fixed
Seriously guys, chillax. Dude was sick; let him catch his breath!
Not only that, but they have to rebuild a BIOS from the ground up using different code.
If that doesn't wrap around your head, you need to do some research.
M4A89GTD Pro USB3 - BIOS 1602
No more NIC in Windows when disabled in bios - Bug Fixed :)
AGESA is 3.7.1.0 now :)
Thanks again Bingo!!
Get well. Will post if I find anything else.
Just updated to 1603 for 89GTD Pro. Will give a run through tonight. LLC Looks like it got fixed finally :D
First of all I have been watching this thread since it started.
I understand it takes time for the bios creation. What I dont understand is why ASUS keeps popping in promising a release and making it sound like it will be next week, any day now and so, then to only blue ball a guy. Look at the history of the posts yourself.
If its not ready so be it, If the SWAT team got killed so be it, just dont be cumming in here saying other wise is all I am saying. If the bios is challenging say so, dont keep telling me your going to pay me next week only to make excuses again when the time comes.
Now that I know ASUS is premature with their announcement I know how serious to take their statements. AS for the CH4 bios, will get it when I get it.
Just tried M4A89TD Pro 1003 bios...
worked good for ram, did DDR3-2200 on air with 1055T:up:
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1328019
but one issue is, CNQ cannot be disabled, if I set voltage tuning to [manual], itbecomes gray like this, but CNQ is still working, if I set voltage tuning to [offset], and set CNQ to [disabled], CNQ still working, too, I really dont like that.:(
Hey Bingo13,
I'm not going to pretend that I understand all the complexities of programming a bios. But I have a suggestion... :)
I know you folks said bios memory space was a problem, and since the biggest hassle (at least from what I've seen) is voltages going too high when LLC is enabled.
Wouldn't it be easier just to put a drop down menu for LLC (CPU & IMC) that limited the max voltage that could be supplied when LLC is enabled?
It wouldn't be the best option for the common man, but for overclockers I think it would offer alot more flexabilty!
Lets face it, most folks who buy a C4F are pretty hard core OC'rs and have a decent grasp on what needs to be done....
I could be wrong, but from what I've seen it seems like "auto LLC" overvolts to the point where voltages go so high that it becomes more of a problem than an asset...
If you did it that way, you could set LLC over voltages pretty low (for the rookies) and still give the skilled folks another option to tweak... :D
Just a suggestion, but I've seen CPU LLC overvolt go higher than I feel comfortable with, and IMC LLC overvolt just gets so rediculous I don't dare even turn it on.... :(
I've done some programing in the past, and this option seems like it would take alot less code than trying to have things "auto adjust" for everyones particular gear...
Just a suggestion, but I'd actually like to see than option!
Come on UEFI motherboards =P
Do we have an ETA on C4F?
Agreeing with other people in the forums, I'm very angry in buying what is THE most expensive AMD gamer motherboard currently on the market and finding it under-performing worse than a standard < £100 motherboard. Not to mentioned failed bootups etc.
I certainly don't blame Bingo13 for any of this but I'm definitely angry with Asus, whom I have sworn by for the past 4 years (since god knows what happened to Abit, remember them?).
FYI Giga 890FX UD7 is even more expensive :p
CH IV underperforms ? Try HT clocks with a 1055T :)
For me the CH IV is one of the more balanced 890FX boards... Every 890FX board I tested has bugs. But the rate Asus updated their CH IV ROG bios is pretty great.
Question : Have you ever tried to persuade a Taiwanese bios engineer ? All I can say is that then you are in for a treat :p and zillions of mails to get it done :)
Sounds about right in my experience too...and I'm on the beta of 0905. Unfortunately I'm still on a 965 BE though and haven't had a chance to install the Thuban sitting on my work bench. Sigh...so much to bench, so little time.
I will admit I'm also able to achieve great results with 8GB of ram. However I'm running with 16GB (which is in the advertised specification) and the system is completely unstable even at stock or reduced timings and speed. No over-clocking is possible at all, at stock, the system crashes after extended use as it becomes more unstable and 50% of the time it will take 2-3 boot attempts to start. I've confirmed the sticks are not faulty with a matched pair for each channel. They're 1600 but I'm currently running them at 1333 with a 1090T.
Hey Bingo13, thanks for the BIOS releases. It's really nice to get early access to board fixes and improvements.
There's one outstanding major issue with the 1602 BIOS. The board won't detect a secondary Nvidia GPU. I'm not referring to SLI, but it doesn't even show up in the device manager and prevents me from using all my monitors since I upgraded to the M4A89GTD. It seems to affect anyone with any combination of Nvidia cards. Is there any chance for a fix in the next BIOS?
Update -
Crosshair Formula IV - Should have a revised BIOS late this week based on the new code with proper LLC ranges under load, provided you disable Turbo Core mode on the Thuban when overclocking. The current beta would have caused a few problems. ;)
I hope the new C4F bios will be better in my case.
It can be stable occt for 1h with 13x315mhz @ 1.45v but can crash on Internet or Word after a few minutes.
Bios will come before thursday?
PRAZ: so, i say, upgrade to 0905 is good choice? Better OC potencial? Im still at 0707...
No news about the M4A79 or any of the other 790FX boards?
I guess because of the delay for the C4F there won't be anything new this week, right?
0905 has been solid for me. But with 1003 right around the corner you may want to wait for it. With the exception of the issue Bingo13 has stated is being addressed I have not found any other problems with it. I'm running the board fully stable with C n' Q/C1E enabled at 4100MHz and 8GB of memory. Also, with v1003 SSD performance no longer seems to go down because of C n' Q/C1E being enabled. Once released and out in the wild for a bit if no major issues pop up it seems the version to move to.
For now any overclock would be great but would like to see turbo-core in future revisions.
3.2 Ghz is the best you can get?...
If thats the case, I'd have to guess it's because your trying to run 16Gb of Ram.
If it were me, I'd pull two sticks and try again....
Have you tried running 2T? That might help if you really need the 16 gigs.
I have to agree with Praz, 0905 actually runs pretty darn good!
I'm using a 1055T so "Turbo Core" comes in quite handy! Thats really the only place where I've seen the LLC overvolt problem come into play on the CPU (IMC is a different story:()...
I am a little dissapointed that the TurboCore/LLC problem won't be fixed on this new bois, but as long as it isn't any worse the 0905 I can deal with it...
Hopefully, they calmed it down a little on the IMC though... ;)
someone, do u have a problem with integrated sound at Cross IV? Example yesterday i stressed CPU and listen to music and past about 5 minutes i heard a crackle and than was my sound off (after restart PC was sound OK). WTF?
Crooshair iv all official and a few beta bios.mem test for hours on end.Vantage pass not a issue.Fur mark no issues.Prime no issue.
My system randomly crash's while gaming often. No oc.BFBC2,LFD2,CODMW does not matter the game.I have a audio looping sound, then ctd or freeze. If i alt tab quick enough when this happens,i can often alt tab back in and continue.Tryed fresh installs. No via audio and with via driver.Put 5850 and issue is gone.
Not sure if this is a mobo issue. With either a sapphire 5970 oc or pc 5970 lcs. It(motherboard?) reports master and slave bios reversed.Makess a headache to flash.Could this be a issue?
Confirmed reversal with powercolor tech support.
I’ve been using bios 801 or 905 for several weeks now and had planned to wait on the new bios rather than post these problems I have encountered. More than anything else I’m asking if any of you have had any of the problems listed below?
At cold boot both 801 and 905 bios (more often the not) boot with these settings shown in the photo below. I doesn’t matter what the saved bios settings were at the last shutdown. It’s as if these settings have become the new default. I would think when I flash from one bios to another that any corruption would be corrected but maybe not in this case? All bios photos are of bios 905.
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...d/DSC01207.jpg
In this photo (bios 905) the voltages are set to auto but as shown the Dram voltage indicates 1.872v.
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...d/DSC01199.jpg
If I am the only one having these problems and the new bios doesn’t correct them I’ll be leaning toward the MB being broken. :(
does anyone know if the gd70 has proper working turbocore? think i might try my luck with that
C4F firmware??????? =P
FYI CNQ stays on always with LLC on the M4A89GTD Pro.
I update BIOS Cross IV at 0905 (from 0707). Strange its, i cant run Cinebench R11.5 :-). With stable clocks give me error at begin run. Second, for higher max stability doesnt changed it, cant broken 4300+ MHz :-/ (why can run 4300MHz stable and only next 10MHz up dont :-( ???)
Update -
Crosshair IV Formula - Solved the VCore voltage jump with CnQ and LLC both enabled (not recommended for high OC) it appears. As soon as I have the fixed code I will release it, which should be this week.
M3N Series - We will have another beta shortly with a few core code changes but the board just is not going to clock as well as the 890FX boards, there is only so much you can do with a chipset designed before Thuban was a twinkle in somebody's eye. ;)
So that "very soon" for the M4A79 became "nothing at all" (same for the other 790FX boards)
Man.... I may recind my willingness to be the Guinea pig! :(
I'm finally figuring out how to get the most out of 0905...
After your crews month+ of work it sounds like the new bios may actually be worse than 0905!
Then theres the fact that you can't flash back after the update. :shakes:
I hope I'm wrong, but this new bios isn't sounding like an improvement Bingo....
Hope I'm wrong.
Which CF4 bios supports the new X6 1055T 95W?
Guys take it easy. I gave asus a list of stuff to work on + I'm sure others have.
They have put out more bioses already for this one board than "others" have ;)
When it's done it's done.
Bingo13,
MB: Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
Current Bios: 1602
I've had a PCIE lane problem since I updated to bios 1456. I was running 2 5770s in crossfire at x8 and x16 on a single card for a while. After bios 1456 update my pcie speed downgraded to x1 and x8. I can no longer run x16 with a single card or x8 in both lanes in crossfire. Crossfire isn't even an option now since I can't get both lanes to run at the same speed. I'm now down to one card running at x8 which is no good. Both cards have been tested on a different board and work fine. I've also reloaded windows a few times and have the tested 10.3-10.7 ATI Catalyst drivers to no avail. Lower pcie is stuck at x8 and upper at x1 no matter what I try. Everything else on the board works fine. Only problems I have are the pcie lanes and the inablility to go into crossfire.

Could it be a Bios problem or is it time for a new MB?
any newes about M3A79T-Deluxe ? bingo13
Ok, I flashed to 1602 beta and I'm experiencing some strange issues.
First of all it wiped out all my OC profiles. I should mention that I loaded the "Setup defaults" before updating from 1456.
After that I put all my proved-to-work OC settings in the bios, tweaked other options, turned off all things I don't use, saved and restarted.
It booted up, checked all harddrives and stopped on "Checking NVRAM...". I went back to the bios, trying to figure out what happened. After 3 or 4 tries I found it - "Update microcode" option was causing the problems. Is it normal?
Well, I managed to load Windows 7 x64 and...here's the screen. I don't know what to believe in :). C'n'Q and C1E are disabled. Haven't tested if these settings are Prime stable yet (with the new bios).
http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/8467/1602.th.png
Note the min and max cpu voltage in HWMonitor. The current one in CPU-z is the normal which should be showing, but it was going all the way down to 1.28.
If you need any other info, I would be glad to help.
Hi this is normal! The new BETA uses a new version of AGESA (which is the AMD written part of the bios). This likely explains the need to clear out your OC profiles as core settings have been altered. The new version of AGESA likely includes a new microcode that needs updating on the CPU to work so this is also normal.
This bios has had a lot of recalibrating from what I gather along with fundamental changes. Your best bet is to test again to confirm where a stable overclock is.
08/11/2010 Update -
Crosshair Formula IV - We have one last tweak to make to address the 1055T 95W and 1045T parts. I should have a beta to complete testing later this week and if all is well it will go up, finally....
M3N Series - NVIDIA recently changed the firmware on the GTX460 and we need to tweak the BIOS to ensure the new cards work properly in SLI with the 258 drivers. I do not have an exact date yet but will have one tomorrow.
M4A79 Series - THe new AGESA code build on the 890 boards just entered qualification testing which usually takes a week but I have asked this to be fast tracked.
Still no updates for the M3A79T-Deluxe board?
Just to be sure...
You mean while the new AGESA code build for the 890 Boards is in qt they won't do any work on the M4A79 Series, right?
So even if that qt will be done in a week it might take some more days/weeks until there will be any beta or "stable" release for the M4A79?
And the new AGESA code is only for the 890 boards?
whats the utility used when updating the bios on a crosshair IV? ive been to asus website but the utility listed says dos.
presently i have 801 and latest version is 905....input?
M4A89GTD-Pro 1602 bios
not sure if it's just my case, after upgrade to 1602 my ssd performance dropped alot in benchmarks.
hope bingo can look into it :)
cheers~
I cant get turbo unlocker to work properly with my Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3, even if i use higher mutiplier it just doesnt get it. That's with the official lastest bios. Maybe there is something wrong with that.
Also i cant disable CnQ and C1E when i overclock
Waiting for new C4F BIOS...
bingo: what news about Cross IV Extreme? Will launched shortly time?
afaik any FAT32 formatted stick will do fine
i'm still on 0602 bios on my CIV Formula; do the new BIOS versions provide any significant changes? (4 Dimm RAM support /stability)
waiting waiting waiting for CHIV bios .
maybe next week ?
yes, maybe next week since its getting more and more unlikely that there will be anything this week.
Maybe bingo13 didn't mean "later this week" instead he wanted to say "later this month"? ;)
Update - A long time coming but the C4F BIOS update will go into qualification testing tomorrow and if all goes well I can have it up here late next week. I just finished a meeting with NV on the M3N series and we have a couple of items left to try in the BIOS to improve Thuban clocking. I will have an update in the morning on the M3A79/M4A79 boards. In addition, we are increasing our technical support staff for the forums so I will have a couple of new personnel reporting to me shortly and that means improved coverage here along with some OC guides for our boards in the future. The Crosshair Extreme IV is coming shortly also and we have some additional plans for AMD products in the coming months. I apologize about things being slow the past month but it will improve.
Sounds Good
Running the 1609 BIOS for the M3A79 and no weird or wonderful issues here :)
BINGO:thx! Its good news :-)
Hey bingo, or really any other person that can help me. I have a Athlon II x3 445 rana (m4a89gtd pro/usb3 mobo)and i wanted to try to unlock the l3 or 4th core (it's a deneb die). I tried the autounlocker but everytime i do it (switch or from bios) the red DRAM LED light comes on and i have to hit that MemOK button or w/e it is to reset the bios settings in order for it to post. I realize it may be a bad core but why would the DRAM LED light up and is there anyway i can try to manually unlock the l3 cache (or the 4th core for that matter, i don't trust this auto unlocker thing :X)? Would this bios update help this issue or what should i do? I contacted asus tech support and they responded (after 2 weeks), that you should contact asus overclocking department over the phone and well... I either get hung up on or dropped call so I don't know what to do :/. I have BIOS revision 1456. Perhaps maybe since my processor was released pretty close to this 1456 release date, it is not supported for autounlocking? will the 1602 BIOS update fix this?
Hey all,
A problem with the Asus M4A89GT/USB3 I have is that it does not recognize an Nvidia 9600GT card I have installed in the second PCIe slot for Physics. I have an HD 5850 in the primary slot and the Nvidia in the second slot. Windows does not recognize the 9600GT in this setup. If I swap them, I can see both cards in Windows. This setup does not work since I want the primary to be the HD 5850.
Has anyone else had this problem or know of any resolutions? Besides getting a different board? Other forums state it is a BIOS issue, and that certainly seems plausible that a BIOS fix should correct it. I have sent the issue to ASUS support for help, but they have pretty much ignored me, told me it couldn't work because of the AMD chipset, or told me to RMA the board.
T
You are not alone with this problem. The official ASUS forum is full of people with two graphics cards not beeing able to use them.
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...age=4&count=40
With the beta BIOSses posted here it might be possible to run two Nvidia cards, but an ATI/Nvidia combination seems to be only possible if ATI sits in the second slot :-(
I really hope for an official BIOS fixing all this. I bought the board because of the two PCI-E slots for GPUs and folding@home (no need for SLI there)
