1055t @ $228:)
We want to see some real gaming performance.
Something like BC2 or FC2 would be nice.
as expected, do the same perf than the i7 920 on X264 bench.
That show the limits of HT on intel, that is more 4*1,5 cores than 4*2 .
i'm waiting for the cheaper amd X6 to do some tests :p

I think that he asked about clock-for-clock performance between Thuban and i7 in regards to scaling with overclocks at 4Ghz.
no leak here in Thailand
waiting NDA
Can we get pictures of the stock cooler to see if amd has uped their cooler area.
from the photos i saw, it looks like they stayed the same, 4 half sided heat pipes, and same dimensions. and since these are all under 140W, they had no need to change. and honestly its a great cooler, im using mine cause i took out my water cooling, and at 40% fan speed, no noise and under 40c in gaming, under 55c when stress testing, and thats overclocked (by only 400mhz and no volts, so its a 940 @ 965 speeds)
here's a link to some photos
if the temps reading are correct, they are about 10-15c cooler than a phenom II quad
it actually does look different, my old 940 dinosaur has a copper core, not the full base.
Maybe the paste/solder/whatever between the die and the IHS is improved
Apokalipse : i don't think anyone on XS uses the thermal paste which comes for free with their cpu . :ROTF:
I wasn't talking about the thermal pad that is stuck to the bottom of the stock heatsink.
I was talking about the paste/solder/whatever that is between the actual die of the CPU and the IHS (metal cover that you see on top of the die)
So do I have to buy a 1090T to get over 4ghz?
a 1055t will do 4ghz on the 14x multi if the mobo can go to 285htt stable
And which mobos can do that?
we'll find out soon :p:
On a somewhat related note, how many people have filed the IHS down to the die on a Phenom II chip?
Ok got my 1055T finally up and running.
[rant]MAKE SURE TO UPDATE YOUR BIOS FIRST BEFORE SWAPPING CPUS![/rant]
It sure takes up lots of extra time to swap cpus with the Scythe Mugen 2 (push/pull config, @#$@#$#@ fan clips!!!). Especially if you swap from A to B, find out that system won't post because your dumbass forgot to update BIOS first, then swap back to A, update BIOS, swap back to B. Took an extra hour (when I updated BIOS I didn't even screw the motherboard down). LMAO!
Just starting to tinker around now.
So far my RAM is severely limiting me. Can only hit 4.3GHz / NB 3GHz so far.
bench stable?
Yep
Some quick benches:

I think I've managed to disable Turbo as well. In my BIOS there's an option called "Core Performance". I disabled it. I haven't seen any crazy jumps or crashes due to turbo kicking in.
"Core Performance" is Turbo Boost, good job ;).
keep pushing it,great results there!
What's even funnier is that my 1055T also has BPMW, the 4th Phenom II chip I've gotten that was made from that factory.
Can I get A list of Stability tests and links to where I can get them for AMD that you guys would like when I get my 1055T next week? You know like occt and the cinebench, Everest and any others you think I should run.
OCCT: http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?Download
Prime95 64-bit: http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=205
Cinebench R10: http://www.brothersoft.com/cinebench-70565.html
Cinebench R11.5: http://www.maxon.net/index.php?id=162
Everest Ultimate: http://www.lavalys.com/support/downloads
Thanks Dumo! Can't wait to see your results as well.
Thank you rich. My 720 BE didnt constitute doing extreme stuff like the 1055T does. Im am happy Im getting one. Parents would normally even though im 18 not allow it. But they are letting me spend around $500 on upgrades for my rig before I head off to college. This includes the 1055T and 1 EVGA GTX470. Cant wait for the 470 next.
Yeah that's cool your parents are doing that. The 1055T will hold you over for quite some time since you won't be able to upgrade for awhile.
richierich, can you run x264 benchmark at that speed? :)
Thanks!
Please link me a file for that benchmark
Download it from here:

And the comparison chart:

gratz on the x6 richie! the cinebench scores are amazing! can you run higher than 4.3 maybe 4.4 or even 4.5? i think these chips can handle 1.625v no problem
At least that 790X can disable the Turbo wich is a PITA for overclock.
Boot up @ 330X14 @ Vcore 1.63.
Too bad Nforce 980a board need new bios revision
Dumo, post some screenies!
23K5 in cinebench 10 and 7.5points in cinebnch 11.5...OMG!! Magic!
I just sold my 1055T out , can't wait to get 1090T
probably available the next few days in Hong Kong :)
Here http://www.techarp.com/x264_Benchmar...rk_HD_v3.0.rar
You need to install (if it isn't) AviSynth http://sourceforge.net/projects/avisynth2/
How to running it http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.a...pgno=1#running
The important one is the second pass, it's where final encoding is done.
The Bolded Item is not working after you click on I agree link. All I get is a Google could not find message. So im just going to have to work off OCCT, Prime 95, Cine 11.5 and Everest as well as anything else my friend brings with when he helps me install. Big case and heat sink need help. I also happen to be overly careful with hardware and never want to pull on anything to get it off. I also dont have any arcti clean. Thats mainly what hes helping with.
Try this one: http://www.brothersoft.com/cinebench-70565.html
my results forcompare..

38FPS, very strong on 2nd pass
mAJORD, why's your HT Link so low?
1055T was shipped going through USPS which is really better because they take care of packages and we have one of those big sectioned mailboxes so if there is a package they put it in a package box and put the key for the box in our mail box. The only problem with USPS is I cant track its progress. It will arrive anywhere between between Thursday the 29th and Saturday May 1st.
Also that link worked Rich. Thanks.
Thanks
BTW, another good one: TrueCrypt built-in benchmark :yepp:

Great!
Yours is the third place

Great test
Excuse me, can you do a test Phenom X6 in game II (Metro 2033 for example) (to 4GHz)?? VS Phenom II X4 955 (4ghz)?
I found this test but this phenom II X4 1055(2.8ghz) does not look terrible game ...
Probably I'll be buying a 1055T and replace my Phenom X4 II 550be.
And do you think, in game only ,at 4ghz, the phenom II X6 is better than Core i7 9xx or i7 8xx at 4ghz ?
Thanks
mum, games are not much optimized for multicore chips... One thing you get with X6 is 3 or more cores being ready to do anything you like while you are gaming at the same time! This is great since you can fold and do world community grid or you can encode audio/video and still be able to have the same performance as if you are just gaming due to sheer number of available cores to you. This is also known as multitasking and these chips look like they were born for this kind of usage. Not to mention X6 clock great and have lower temps due to process node improvements AMD made with their 45nm SOI tech.
nice richie! push it! :D
richie great score @ 4.3Ghz,you are only 18% slower than Gulftown at the same clock in that test ;)
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.a...tno=669&pgno=2
Gulftown @4.3Ghz - 47.68
your score from Thuban @ 4.3Ghz - 40.36
which brings us to...
Gulftown $1000 / 47.68 fps = $21/fps
Thuban $200 / 40.36 fps = $5/fps
Thuban wins the price/perfomance ratio by a WIDE margin :D
i have a strong feeling we'll be seeing guys running 4.5 on air and perhaps a few at 4.6 to 4.7 max
A small correction ridney :) ,that Gulfy is 1600$ since its a server version :D
oh my bad, then that makes it a "NO CONTEST" :ROTF:
It never was a contest in perf./$,even if the price was 1K for that Gulftown :D .
and the motherboard is more expensive than on thuban's motherboard !
So definitely Thuban has a much better value for money !
Nice Score you got there
Yep, looks like my mobo doesn't like anything over 314FSB, and I can't go any higher due to cooling me thinks.
great results richie! i see you bumped htt to 309, i think you can still do better than that. try to max it out at 1.575v and see where you go unitl it craps out, then bump again the vcore to 1.625v and see if you can run the last htt clock, i bet you can. i think 4.5ghz is possible, as i have been runing that with turbo with just 1.575v
For 314 FSB you're on a Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P right?
PetNorth, here's a fresh reboot, lowered NB to 2.8GHz as well:
http://richierich1212.smugmug.com/ph...9_mxp6T-X2.jpg
:woot: thats just crazy!!
Where's my X6? :D
My i7 @4.2 (4.3 is a no go :( ) (500mb buffer)
Metro 2033 is possibly the worst game available to benchmark a CPU.
http://www.legionhardware.com/articl...e_guide,9.html
The best examples of multi-core scaling in recent games I can think of are Dragon Age and BFBC2 yet I don't think either shows decent gains at 6 over 4 cores.
These 1055Ts are looking to be good overclockers. I'm getting one asap.
somebody bench linX or OCCT max stable for 1055T?
anyone know how to disable turbo with my mobo?
please need guide
Any option called "Core Performance"?
is the HT on this cpus higher ? 2000 for the X4 denebs and the thunbuns 2.400 ?
