Did anyone tried to run Memtest on his dead/bad/degraded sticks and got it stuck ? no errors, just freeze.
I am not totally sure that I have a bad stick, I will try today with another set of OCZ and see if the issues resolve.
**EDIT**
It looks like Memtest86+ v3.5 doesn't work very well, which resulted in freeze.
Memtest v3.4 works well, and 1 stick found to produce errors, got around 250+ in Test #6.
Going to RMA, hoping Kingston's RMA is an easy one.
are there any websites that have batch # narrowed down to the bad ones
i have some 3x2gb 2000mhz kingston hyperx for about 5 months still in packaging unopened and would like to know if there ok
They all die eventually.
They degrade from simply working, I used them for benching and 24/7 use, and 1 stick eventually got defective.
The only way of keeping them alive is to not use them, in case they are not DOA of course.
If they are a bad batch they are: 1. already dead, 2. Will die very quickly by simply doing almost nothing.
thanks
use memtest86+ v2.11 instead http://i4memory.com/f79/memtest86-v2-11-a-6/
so it it not worth it to invest in any elpida memory right now?
I'm looking for ddr3 for my rig, but should I go with a lower speed/brand until new stuff comes out?
Invest in the brand... corsair has it fixed and new models/product numbers of elpida hyper are without the problematic batches and well warranty on their end will take care of you so really nothing to worry about :)

Was it this one Stasio you wanted ? Full review here of the newer revs : 3 New Elpida based I7 sets in the lab
add my ocz blade 6gb cas9 2000mhz kit to list , sent off for rma
Apparently the Kingston Policy states that the warranty is only good for the original owner of the product
AS you guessed it, it's not me :(
What with this stupid policy ? I have never heard of such policy from any company grrrrr
So much for "lifetime warranty"
corsair told me they will replace with the updated part number, hopefully it will clock as good as before
I just RMA'd my Kingston Elpida HyperX 3 weeks ago and got my replacement 10 days ago.
No Questions were asked.

Plainly stated at Kingston's site.
http://www.kingston.com/company/warranty.aspQuote:
KINGSTON TECHNOLOGY COMPANY, INC. ("Kingston") warrants to the original end user customer of its products specified below that its products are free from defects in material and workmanship.
This limited warranty also does not apply to any product on which the original identification information has been altered, obliterated or removed, has not been handled or packaged correctly, has been sold as second-hand or has been resold contrary to the US export regulations.
As no receipt is required by OCZ for lifetime memory warranty the user does not need to be the original purchaser.
corsair didn't asked for proof of purchase either
+1 stick again
OCZ blade @ 2200 cl7 1.78 passed just one Everest test, restart BSOD and one stick dead
and the winner is? Hiwa :ROTF: 9 sticks Hyper killer
Yeah manufacturer only warrantys for original purchaser but some are more flexible than others. I think OCZ are flexible as Praz pointed out and I definitely know Kingston (Australia) is flexible with warranty and never asked for a receipt. My 6GB Kingston 2000 C8 (using on REX X48 DDR3 right now) were bought off Andre from first newegg batch. I emailed Kingston Australia (APAC) and told them that I bought these from USA and not from Australia, they said no problems and forwarded me to Aussie distributor for RMA replacement Elpida Hypers (working so far yay). Shame Kingston now replaced their 2000C8 Elpida Hyper with 2000C9 probably non-Hyper ICs.
I can arrange some recites from Newegg (of original buyer) if that's what they really want.
Its so silly, they can never really know who bought what and where, they have no tracking of it, so why bother in the first place.
My kits are originally from Andre too, just as everybody who bought the HyperX.
my hyper-x kingston just died today 1 stick. I noticed that heat spreader on the dead stick is kind of loose, perhaps of the heat. However I didn't go over 1600mhz with those sticks.
oh damn kingstone hyper-x are discontinued. I wonder how they are going to repair my stick? Has anyone gone through repair process?
newegg has deactivated that too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104084
The old model GX (at the end, full product for 6GB kit is: KHX16000DULT1K3/6GX) is getting discontinue AFAIK.
Probably their new models are with Elpidia BBSE and are spec'ed at CAS9.
I will have more info soon, Just contacted UK RMA, hopefully they will accept the warranty without asking to many questions.
6 kingston hyperx 6gb kits from march 4 were doa
I will report what they send me for the new ones
wow... sounds like the shop is not testing returns though and just putting them back on the shelf...
Kington doesn't ask for a receipt. You just fill out the rma info and then you get to send it in.If you want your money back the you need a receipt for it to get that back.
Sounds a lot like Wal-Mart, placing return items back on the shelf.....
Unfortunately my Elpida Memory have gone. Corsair 6GB 2000C7
My Spec:
MB Classified E759
920 D0 @ 4.0 GHz 1.2875 v with CPU vTT@ 1.35
My GT's where set to 7-8-7-20 2T @ 1.65 2:10
One of my Sticks of Corsair DominatorGT 3x2Gb 2000 cas7 , turning my System on this morning and i was greted with bsod trying to boot , until i remove and tested them , i found 2sticks fully functional and one stick completely dead , 1.65v running at 1800 cas7 :shakes:
My system was fine for months and suddenly over a week I was getting this "Page Fault in Non-Paged" area BSOD and random shutdowns while just surfing the web. So after testing everything I decided to run memtest86 v2.11 overnight. After 18 passes I got 172032 errors!
i did, i told them OCZ should send me a cas 7 kit instead , for stuffing me around for so long, see what happens :shakes: , all i know is im really starting to get pissed off ! this has dragged on for 1 1/2 months
ive always wanted ocz ram but im not to happy with their service with my first ocz experience
edit... and before i bought the kit, i asked if 2000mhz CAS9 Blades had elpida IC's
i guess i was unlucky ! all 6gb showed up in windows but 1 stick failed memtest and prime/linx
PhoooooaR..... 36 kits... madness!!! touch wood my GT kit is working still - it's continuing life on Asus P6T6 WS Revo right now :D
:ROTF: lol
Update guys:
I got the HyperX 2000Mhz Cas8 Kit from RMA today, apparently Kingston 2000Mhz C8 is still alive.
I got the same product, probably Elpidia Hyper-> KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX.
Don't know which week it is, I hope it is working.
So what I said earlier regarding the BBSE kits is probably wrong, which is good :)
Hopefully they did, the customs and shipping of the RMA had cost me about 1/2 of it's retail value so if they die again I am not going to RMA them.
RMA was superfast :)
I sent the package on Sunday noon from Israel to UK (we are working here on Sunday ;)) and I got a phone call from UPS by Friday morning that the package has hit the Customs, but those lazy guys don't work on Friday , so I got it today. :D
George, do you know what digit(s) on the label of the HyperX modules represents the week ?
all i know - don't think there is a date number ?
http://nx.i4memory.com/reviewimages/...eid_serial.png
This is it I think, on the pcb.
yep this is a dead stick

Booj, you jinxed me LOL
Just tried my RMA replacement Kingston 2000C8 Elpida Hyper in P6T6 WS Revolution and guess what one module is completely undetected in all 6 dimm slots even at 133bclk 1066mhz 8-8-8-24 1.66v speeds!! Guess another RMA to Kingston again - probably wait till their elpida hyper cas8 stock filter down to Australia first heh.
aaah that sucks, :( sorry to jinx ya mate :wasntme:
Yeah thats my reasoning for why i'm not getting mine replaced for the time being, i'll wait for all the bad stock and dust to settle before I get replacements. My pi times get killed but dual ch works good enough for 3d ;)
Has anyone heard of any problems or tested the NEW version of Corsair GT 2000CL7?
i dont think gary killed a single kit with an esd :P
i dont think its behind us, the bad batches are deployed and some seem to live for quite a few weeks or even months before going belly up, so we will probably see elpida hyper kits with a higher than normal failure rate for some more time...
corsair did an excellent job though in pulling back bad stock, or possibly bad stock, so prevent as many rmas and customer woes as possible! :toast:
i think kingston and possibly others still have bad inventory themselves or at distries/shops that havent been sorted out, so for them this could be stretching over months...
visit the tradeshows ;)
http://www.ocztechnology.com/images/awards/gc6.jpg
CRISIS OVER!
i thought one of my sticks was dead, then i thought my classified ram slot was dead, then i thought it was the stick again...
a lesson to be learnt here is, dont eat your SILF over the motherboard!
http://majorlyenglish.files.wordpres...08/02/silf.jpg
 i told you those club sandwiches will give you a heart attack (just made that up eek)
Finding new ways of keeping it alive :)
http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9715/memorycold.jpg
hah, good luck :D
i doubt it helps much though, i heard from 2 people who sub zero cooled their kits and they stilled died during a single session...
but it cant hurt :D
 nice one raga, corsair on E657/8
show us the frequency :p:
my first Hypers had CB@-10 look like yours no have CB ?
No CBB bug on mine even with evap this cold. This is the new Corsair i5 kit.
First 10 mins were great 32M @ 2200 CAS 8-8-8-24 1N @ around 1.46V. After that though IMC got too cold and things got worse before I could really start clocking.
later
Raja
about how long is the kingston rma-to-shipping process
With my faulty modules i was never able to run them @ 2000Mhz with 7-8-7-20-1T timings.. BSOD in linX what ever volts i would use all the time..
The new (ic) modules are def fixed
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/3225/pi2g.jpg
so i take it the kingston : KHX16000DULT1K3/3GX is Elpidia hyper ic's
and the : KHX2000C8D3T1K3/3GX is Elpidia BBSE?
i had one stick drop out after 3days 2000 7-7-7-20 1.68v
sent them back to kingston uk but now due to postal strike i still aint got them
they have told me there swapping them
Item #: KHX16000D3ULT1K3/3GX Replaced by: KHX2000C8D3T1K3/3GX
kingston is now sending out the new batch for rma's KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX
yeah i got mine yesterday but its only 3gb :) nout i got uses 6gb lol
http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/s...5092009515.jpg
there not as good as the others not by a long way
Why what is so bad about these kits? Perhaps different ic's on them? Care to explain a bit more.
dont get me wrong there not the worst set
but when benching with them earllyer they need loads of volts to run stable for vantage 8-8-8-20 i was touching 1.8v the old set were stable 7-7-7-20 1.72 but they did only live 4days from new lol
im still playing with the new so lets hope they go well past the 2000 7-7-7-20
i need to play with the subtimmings more
I got the older set back about i say a month ago, can't recall the exact date though. But i got the older batch number and i could hit 2,175 mhz with default timings and 1.65v with ease. But it seems my C0 chip and or my asus doesn't like each other along with the G-15 weird keyboard issues. So i stopped there with mine
so what speeds are you hitting with the new kingston kits? 2000 888 with 1.8v?
that could be samsung or micron as well easily...
Guys, need some help
I was wondering if the following kits are the famed dying elpidas
link here
7-7-7-20 1.74v b2b=31
http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/s...6-4070copy.jpg
but it was not stable for vantage at tho's speeds had to up it to 8-8-8-20 1.8v it would prolly have gont thru @1.8 7-7-7-20 but never got the chance to test
also whats the best way to get the sinks off? hair dryer?
thats only 1850 tho... but 777? doesnt it go higher with 787?
didnt the previous kits do 2000+ 787 with 1.65v?
and now its 1850 787 with 1.75v? hmmm :/
best way to remove the heatspreaders... yeah hairdryer but you might actually unsolder them if you overdo it... and the only time i tried to take heatpders off a corsair stick the solder balls went pop pop pop and i had the heatspreader with all chips glued to it in my hand... and i barely pulled, i was really shocked lol :D
so if be careful...
definately TWIST the heatspreader sideways and dont pull it off!
My 2nd set of corsair dom GT's 3x2 2000 7-8-7 kit just died. I received this kit in June from an rma of my original kit purchased in February. I thought the suspect Elpida chips were identified and removed from the supply chain by that time but I guess not. This was on a Classy 759 @200 bclk and 1.64 vdimm. Rig was used for light gaming and such but NO benching and that is very dissapointing. At least Corsair's rma service is dependable.
I think that nowadays Corsair GTs will never die.... :D
By mistake on my ASUS Rampage Extreme, I supplied them with 2.53Volts and they still work...... (I had a saved profile in it with the GTRs/GTS modules :p: ) .... :D
this is a comparison between my old KHX16000DULT1K3/3GX kit I send to ram and the new one I receive : KHX2000C8D3T1K3/3GX
KHX16000DULT1K3/3GX:

still Elpida Hyper :)
edit: image size fixed
mm 0916 new hypers :D
like new 2200 Cl8 i have here, run + 100Hours 1.80/1.60 :yepp: and still alive
so, the new hypers are actually MGH-E not MHN-E anymore ?
that's old stock 0923 = week 23, 2009 , new stock is with SKU product code of CMG6GX3M3A2000C7 http://i4memory.com/wp/article/731 so be assured this next RMA will have the new stock which is apparently rock solid :)
I still have old stock which I've had for nearly 7 months http://i4memory.com/f83/6gb-corsair-...-review-18682/ which still is rock solid up to 1.93v vdimm :)
Well that's better news! Thanks:up:
well, another one bites the dust. I had these Kingston 2000 since may, I actually ordered 2 sets but the second set kept dying on me and after a few RMAs I just returned it for refund. This one ran fine at 2000 8-8-8-20 for a while but today, after a few weeks of running at stock (1066) started to BSOD on me... And that's after one day of having a fan on top of it (had the fan before but removed it, and put it back on yesterday). Well, either they didn't like running at 1066 or it was just their time.
Why on earth do you run 2000mhz specced kits at 1066 lol My Blades are on RMA, hoping to get a good long lasting kit...
well, I was upgrading OS/performing WC maintenance so I didn't want to have an overclock as an unknown variable. I was actually about to overclock the system (that's why I attached the ram fan) but the ram failed :(
Edit: ran memtest stick by stick, 2 still work fine, one doesn't even boot! errors all over the place in 2 or 3-channel mode. Well, I guess I'll run in dual-channel mode for now :(
Edit2: I think there were signs before, when I was having random BSODs although overall my overclock was stable but BSODs were still happening. With these Elpidas, you never know - is the oc unstable or just ram bad (well not until it dies lol)
Iposted a while ago, that my first kit of 2000c8 kingstons died after some moderate benching (up to 1.8v). Well the kit I recieved in RMA died after just a few 32M runs at 1.7v 910mhz 7-7-6-18. Waiting on my new kit hopefully with the non explosive hypers
I actually never pushed my Kingstons, 1.67v and 2000mhz 8-8-8-20 was the max I applied.
i manged to bench pcm05 at these setting with 1.9v on the newer hypers
http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/s...6-26112138.png
Yeah my first 2 x set of Kingston HypersX 2000 6GB CL(8) I had to RMA. It nice living only 15 miles away from Kingston Tech and I receive my new set the next day. :) Planning on testing them tonight.. My first set worked tell 1 of the sticks went bad, then I threw in my second old set unopened and 2 sticks were dead. Does anyone know what they been passing out on the 6GB CL(8) recently?
1800 c6 o.o
nice! :D
then again... good micron d9 did 1800+ 655... and that was in 2007 :D
My replaced Kingston's could do DDR3-2165 with 8-8-8-24-1N Timings.

Anyone tried this on Elpida RAM?
