Always suspicious of software monitoring........However I believe the 810 is a 95w part........
Can anyone link me to the 1.3b7, or even 1.3b6 The link massman provided didn't give me the file, there was an error.. but it was in German. So not sure what was going on.

shadow.. much appreciated :)

4Ghz stock voltage.
 Whau!!! Stock voltage, AIR cooling?! Whats your 955 product serial number? If u dont post it, send me please private message.I found some the best series for my board.Try too Cinebench 64 :) and Frybench
http://randomcontrol.com/downloads/f...h/frybench.zip
No, on my phase. I did it with less voltage than that afterwords. The thing is now my memory does not pass any kind of windows memory test. It does pass DOS test....IDK if windows is just jacked or not. So, I'm reinstalling ATM, and I hope I don't have any dead ram/or dead/jacked up memory controller.

the first 4ghz for me!
not tested for stability yet...
was just playin around with the gd70 after installing it yesterday.
ran a 2hrs prime blend torture test with cpu @stock the nb @2.6ghz and the ram @800mhz, just to be sure that the reapers are doing ok on this board.
man.. this cpu was on my m3a79-t before. it wasnīt even 5minutes primestable at stock clocks on that damn asus...
Massman - Thank you very much :)
So I'm starting to get the feel for this board a little more, trying to unlock some performance........playing around with ram and NB....
I still need to tweak ram some more...not quite dialed in to max performance or clock yet....
I'm using high clock's over tight timings only because I can't get the desired NB I want around 1400+ 6-6-6......Well I can but the xigamatek is holding me back. True 120 is busy on another rig atm.....
Tony is giving me the :stick: to whip out some watercooling, maybe tommorow I'll drag some old friends out of retirement.
Anyway here's where i'm at for now......

I agree with tony :D
This is the best I've been able to get so far.

All right Snipe........Pick a winner ( cpu block ) based on what I have available.........I have to make a custom mount for either....because well I'm cheap.......Both have inpingement jets.......I have various ones for the DD.
Pump specs included, I love it when people tell me those small square pumps are better ;) maybe better than the current stuff :D I got oldschool power + 13.8- 14.4 volts 12v rail ;).

Slightly better scores when I up the nb & ht links but pi is a tad slower. Gonna try and bring down the heat not exactly sure I need 1.48v but prob pretty close. The saga continues...

easily the storm, but I have a spare fuzion v1 in my basement....do you want it? free sounds like a good price to me. :D
um I need to find the bracket for AM2, lemme run to the basement real quick ;)
k, I got the am2 bracket.. sorting out mounting hardware now - 1/2" barbs or 3/8"?

Hey msimax, how's the 137 beta? I'm running 136 beta and everything seems pretty good, but if there are any improvements to speak of I'd give it a go.
edit: btw what ram are you using there?
137 beta tidies up some memory lose ends, smooths things out and is focused on stability over all out speed. Its a 24/7 bios air or water cooled that should suit 99% of end users.
Overall the GD70 is was very polished board now and will probably be my next workstation once the hype calms and we all settle down using our PC's seriously instead of playing pi etc ;)
MSI are refocusing now using the GD70 as the benchmark they have to beat...it will be hard but its brought a new player to the table for seriously well executed motherboards IMO.
Thanks for the info Tony. I only use benches as stability testers, but don't forget the internets is serious business ;) Don't go ruffling any feathers. I like my pc to be as fast as I can afford for 24/7 use which means air cooling. I think I'm going to upgrade my hsf if I can't lower my heat a little.
btw little confession, I just noticed I mounted my heatsink with the fan blowing foward instead of towards the rear exhaust :shakes: I wonder if that's why my temps are as high as they are?
I ever mention I'm scottish and stubborn as a mule.......The board, cpu and xigamatek kept saying NOOOOOOOO!!!! and I Kept saying YESSSSSSS!!!
Some Tape modifications to the xigamatek and a high RPM sanyo denki.........Ac installed in window.........I eventually won in the end ;)
Now I give up on air, there is not .0001 mhz left for hardcore benching on air......Sure I can PI 1m and validate but I've already been there done that so now I want to focus on stability/performance a little more.....
Look at those OCZ animals just tearing it up........I was lazy I did not bench 32M PI however they will pass 32M..........screenshot 2 because "pics or it never happened" ;)

nice work chew*
i need a cooler pronto:rofl:
this stock cooler beggin for mercy
I have 1.3b6 and am starting to think I'm hitting a BIOS issue. Looking at your post(what I put in bold)Maybe that's why I'm having issues going passed 4.1Ghz....I have tried setting after setting with no luck:down:
I'm 100% load right now with 1.5v, and the temp is holding below zero(I don't know how low tho because I don't have a real temp gage and this board hates - temps)
so:shrug:
Anyone know how far, and inbetween some of the voltages need to stay aligned?
So 64bit O/s holds down speeds?
Also
SO SO SO close I was this morning! I want my 10k Xpoints!

You use Phase change ;)
Great results guys. I got my board here.. and 1.3b7 works so much better then 1.2 :)
Chew - Nice results on 06.. what were your GPU clocks at for your 4890? I am assuming like 1000/1100?
Oliverda - WOW.. 800 Cas 6.. that is insane.. I can only do 750'ish on my Kingston. Does Microns are very nice.. I might have to try my other set of D9 :) What type of vDDR were you running, and how about vNB?
- Ton
Oliverda,
Very nice. I have been mainly using Kingstons on my MSI. I need to grab my sticks of Crucial and see what chips are on them :P
Great find for only $70 :)

Wiz released GPUTool the other day if you have not seen it.
Phase:)
http://img.techpowerup.org/090509/stable.jpg
Been running BOINC at 100% load all day with no fail.
Also have my PCI-E volts turned up just a tad, along with SB
Thx will take a look at it but I'm not a fan of most utilities.......Unlock the clock limits in CCC and i'm good to go......KISS method.
My best guess damulta is you will be able to run 4.2-4.3 100% stable based on what I can bench at......usually have to drop about 200mhz for prime stable...and I didn't try to exceed 4380benchable in the review, but it may have been possible..
Very light tool it be.
Tab for voltage-you want to blow up your cards you can lol
Heh My bios already loads plenty of voltage :D
Ehh they going on water before I go LN2 so I'll show you what I'm running on stock air Titon ;)
Bios modding was a PITA.....still need to mod in some ram volts, waiting to take the core's heat out of the equasion though.....I have plenty of headroom in my clock slider bar.
http://members.cox.net/wmdieselmc26/4890's.JPG
Hey Chew.. very nice cards clocks you got there :) I am putting the 955 on phase before going LN2.. trying to get more mileage on this board :P
- Ton
Is the 4th core unlock possible with 137 beta? Has anyone tried it?
For all good boys who play by the rules. :D
Official 1.3 Bios is out!
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=do...1&prod_no=1740
What is - Support NPRP project?
I wonder if they changed anything over the beta bios.
Over at ocz forums, Tony said the 1.3 is based off the 136 beta and 137 beta is a newer bios possibly leading to a 1.3.x bios. Nprp from what I've been able to google has to do with cool'n quiet.
I'll stick with 1.36 atm
Well bios V1.3 did two things for me.
Now i am running 8GB @ 1T @ 1600! Before same timings @ 2T.
And they solved a bug with changing bios multipliers in bios while having a pcie card.
Edit: actually they changed the bug from constant reboot loop to not recognizing the pcie card anymore.
But still better than 1.36beta if you ask me.
Another nice set of OCZ ram, have not tested max just testing timings at jedec speeds......
Whatever IC's they are they play nice on AMD as do the animals.
http://members.cox.net/wmdieselmc26/notanimals.JPG
http://members.cox.net/wmdieselmc26/notanimals2.JPG
well from what i have been seeing they look like they clock just like the Animals
Yep but the fact that they don't like the banks closest to the CPU means they are not 100% identical, these are best if used in banks farthest from CPU animals seem to prefer the front banks.
Not sure which is better atm however.......these appear to be a good stop gap if you can't wait for animals to arrive back in stock.
I will get the Animals also and use the others for bk up lol
and will sell these G.Skills when i got the time lol
Can never have to much ram ;)
I needed my gskills to boot the MSI when I first got it, the bios it had in it did not like the animals...Thats why I always buy a cheap set of ram from the get go.....sux to have a brand new board that you can't use over something as simple as bios support.
i have a problem
i bought a msi gd70 and a phenom 955 (0911BMPW) when the 955 came out
and for the life of me i cant get it to go over 3.9 i have tried higher fsb/cpu multi more volts (1.55) and nothing could it just be this chip is done @ 3.8?
i also tried different bios
1.2, 1.3b6, 1.3b7 , 1.3(final)
my chip is on water temps dont go over 45C
1.3b7 is the newest build at the moment and best...if the CPU will not go over 3.9 it is not the bios holding it back
Such a nice mainboard. But its a shame, that C&Q doesn't work when overclocking the CPU 955BE with multiplicator. My Foxconn A79A-S did it very well. In this fact MSI has to work for a better bios, because C&Q is very important for the most users and Foxconn has shown, that it is possible.
No C&Q when overclocking the CPU--i am very disappointed about this fact.
alright i was approved for a rma
should i get some ram while i am at it?
right now i have some samsung HCF8 6x1gb but only using 2 sticks
win xp 32 and win7 32 I have tested, almost identical for Ocing, might have to tone down NB clocks in win7 a tad.
I would suggest you take bingo's advice as he has tested multiple OS's that i do not have acess to.
Ram wise in 2x2g I have only tested OCZ.....scan through thread for models tested that I know work.....I use these for everything but 2d.....have not settled on 2d 1x1g sticks yet.....
I found using VID for CPU/CPU-NB works better with voltage
I have found upping the PCI-E up to 1.4 helps to keep it all stable
I have found 1.522 is the best PLL
I have found that nb1.40 works the best
I have found 1.42 to be around the best for HT
With 1.42 on SB or 1.4. Now I am using Windows 7 x64
Just got me this board and so far I'm seriosuly impressed, overclocks so much better than my old AM2+ SB600. Trying for 4Ghz, had 3.9 with a bit of extra volts and the htt upped a little :D
MSI have put a lot of hard work into this board, as i said earlier this has to be the benchmark they work from going forward.
LOL installing XP under dice
Well not quite as good as the animals at 7-7-7 but a close second? Pay close attention to voltage.......these are specced 1600 7-7-7 @ 1.65v......
Edit just noticed command rate is at 2T.......I didn't change it ............ will retest..........
*EDIT* fixed rebenched 1T, same speed, volts, settings, no clue what happened ......

BONIC(WCG) which really really stresses it out. If there is any fail it will lock every time.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...play.php?f=207
I did run memtest/pi a few times/and AOD
Main thing I have found that really works is BONIC with AMDs stable test. If you can't pass that you can't pass anything really.

ATM I'm LOLing because I have been frozen under dice for hours, and i'm installing/updateing from service pack 1 XP under dice lol
3-4 hours under now lol
I have to say 64 win7 held me back HARD highest I could get was 4.2Ghz
Now in XP I just guessed this and have been doing updates at this speed.

About to reboot and will be on SP3.
Nice, I have been running 32m so much in the past week I am getting sick of it.......gonna have to break out ln2 again just to get over it that much faster :D
LOL I froze out my board.
First the lan stopped working. Then one of the video cards stopped working. Now I just get code with no boot lol....lol
One to many hours under the dice lol I bet some caps are frozen solid lol.
Have to wait till morning to see if she fires back up!
Started around 3-4 o clock it's now 11:30
That's quite a while in my book to be that frozen.
I'm getting error code 2E whatever that means....
DaMulta - take out one stick of ram.. and see if there is condensation / water in the memory slot. I lost two sticks of ram that way on this board.. it was so annoying. :( When I put it back on LN2 tomorrow, I am going to shove vasoline in the ram slots :P
Ton
Oh they are wet as hell...on the top at least......I put in another stick and I'm getting the same code/ also the whole board is starting to freeze hard core.
I'm going to let the whole thing dry out over night now......
Just mads because I was mins away from a 06 run.....
Hmmm, I benched the gigabyte 16 hours straight on ln2.......
DI should never ever ever be a problem if you insulate correctly, it just doesn't get cold enough to travel far..........I'm guessing you didn't use eraser?
Anyway Roger I did not steer you wrong bud
6-6-6 1452 1.57v ;)
http://members.cox.net/wmdieselmc26/...ndervolted.JPG
I'm still getting error code 2e. Anyone happen to know what that code is?
I have tried different ram, video in different slot(also in no slots and new card) pulled all usb/sata/ide/.....
XP takes to long to install!

Nice DaMulta!
Impressive Ram clocks there Chew* especially with only 1,57 volts!
There are so many good results in this thread, canīt comment all... So a big "Good Work" to you all!
Got my MSI GD-70 today and spent the most of mine day rebuilding my rig. This is the only time sense I left 939 that I can say without hesitation that Phenom I/II are a mature and well working platform. With my Gigabyte UD5P there was always that feeling of uncertainty hanging in the air. Same with Am2+ boards I had before ASUS/DFI/Gigabyte. I just booted @ 300MHz HTT with 1200Mhz ram @ 6-6-6-18 1T 1,65v and passt OCCT, that easy! Great Job MSI! San Ace 120*38mm fan @ onboard controller works well and under volts like a champ aswell. Iīm impressed MSI! Keep this up and you will have a loyal customer for years to come!

Without going to DI or LN2, you are going to hit the infamous 4GHz wall with the 64-bit operating systems on this platform. So, if you want to improve your clocks, whip out Win7 32 or XP Pro SP3. Win7 overclocks better than Vista so just skip Vista altogether in this case.
DaMulta.
Very nice.. is that your kid? I got my son helping pour LN2 :) He enjoys watching the GPU Benches.. and doesn't stick around for any CPU Benches :P
- Ton
no that's me!
j/king yea mine was loving the dry ice round. He does not stick around for a lot of the benches, and says when we going to play some games.....

1800 memory, and passes 32m(I have no reason not to believe cdawall have been posting with him for a long time.)Quote:
yes it will i can run 32m with 4 sticks installed
2x2GB D9JNL
2x1GB D9GTS
I'm guessing the mem issues has to do with MSi's BIOS.
I'm a firm believer of PICS or it didn't happen.........Not that I don't believe anyone its that I do believe screenshots and exif data ;)
There is nothing wrong with the bios......another reason for requesting 32M is for performance ;) asus has a long history of loosening timings to make you think your faster by getting higher clocks.
wohoo!! I got some micron d9 to play with again. Losing a stick of memory in a pair sucks. I might just start getting tri-channel kits for AMD, so I have backup stick. I was doing Cas 6 @ 833 for Wprime1024, which is good enough for me. To impatient to play with SPi 32m. I just focus on max speed that is bench stable.
Hopefully I get the same performance from the these other sets of Crucial D9.
Ton
DaMulta!! As you know, only a realman drinks everclear ;) I tried pouring over my board but it didn't really help. One for me, one for my homies!
I just poped the cover where the CPU inserts. Did you know that where the covers on the white top are for the CPU, there are wire points underneath it.....hidden to the normal users.
Makes one wonder if there could be some kind of pin/mods that could take place under there...Hmmmmmm
I can't seem to get AMD Overdrive 3.02 to load with this motherboard, that is with a complete fresh install of XP wioth SP3. Anyone else had this problem?
I've used it a bunch in win 7......
Thanks to a bottle of 90% achole my machine is almost up and running 100%. I need to clean the memory pins(under the board a little more) but one slot(the 4th one) is still working 100%.
It's still a little dirty under there.....IDK how it kind of got crap all over it....I'm thinking once I get it 100% up and running again. My board is getting a treatment of liquid plastic.....

horrible DDR3 but hey its 1800mhz stable
LOL when he said 1800 I was expecting 6-6-6 or 7-7-7 at least.....well they certainly do 1800, I'll stick with my sticks doing 32M at 1688 6-6-6 though ;)
they are nanya sticks i killed both my D9GTS and D9JNL they die in a couple of hours at 2.2v on the M4A78T-e they are in my freezer right now hopefully that will resurrect them and i can get you some benchmarks but out of the box i had 1704 6-6-6-18 and 1800 7-6-7-20
oh and nanya stock CL7 1066 1.5v doing 1800 Cl10 1.7v isn't that bad lol
Snipedog Big thank you bud......
As you can see i'm still oldschool.....some dogs just can't learn new tricks.....closed loop for life.

still playing, this chip seems very sensitive to voltage on this board now, I think I may have a bad mount.....should have lapped block and cpu.
