Hmmmnn ... I don't think it would look bad if the 24-pin can come out and go around the bottom of the res. If you prefer the fans in pull, seems that's the only option.

I correctly named this build "Madness." I keep taking it apart, putting it back together and redoing something every time. I am going mad!
I removed all of the blue sleeving and I cannot believe how much sleeving I have done. At this rate I will be subsidizing Nils next vacation!:rofl:

Just for Alan and BA...I chopped a little over a 1/4" of tubing from the CPU block to the VC and then proceeded to burn my thumb! Thanks BA:(

Obviously, I decided against the 45, it just didn't look right and I am replacing all the hex plugs with BP plugs.

In the fourth pic notice that I replaced the lower Res holder to the larger black holder. I will stick with the clear holders, although possibly paint them black. The black ones are a bit bulky and hang over about an 1/8". I could dremel them but they still look too bulky to me.
I failed to plug the top left hole for the pics, but it is now.
All of the tubing runs have been measured and confirmed three times, in keeping with Charles anality.:ROTF: Now I am down to cable runs, cable management and sleeving the fans and one custom molex run. The cable management will be a PITA to say the least. However, I will figure it out. BTW, if anyone knows of a good inline flow meter, LMK.
I do think that I have come along way since my first H2O build six years back. That is, if I ever get this one finished!

:rofl: That's a lot of sleeving, but at least it's rewarding and I'm sure you love it now. I like the shorter tubing runs, its clean and smooth, like your scotch!

Do you still have your V2000 build? We need to start a small museum. Your enthusiasm with this new build is exciting and fun to see, keep it up!

BA, I am not sure that love is the correct word to use. I am missing a great deal of skin tissue! It is very rewarding. I just hope that I don't see a puff of smoke once everything is powered up!

The V2000 is gone. In my days in HF a youngster bought the V site unseen.
My enthusiasm is steering me towards a new build which is in the early planning stages.

Wow, Seeker, looks great; glad you shortened the tube.

Thanks! I prefer the new rig over the old one. There is a part of me that will always like the AC gear and the small tubes but I was ready for a change.

Today I started snaking the wires and the tubing to check for fit and looks. Two VC's definitely complicate the wiring issues and I am already trying to figure out the wiring for three VC's for the next build.
I have had to do some major routing due to the ENORMOUS Feser and the Zeus PSU. However, I am in love with the BP fittings and the blue tubing.

Looking good.

One thing though, I would prefer to see the reservoir bottom tubing going straight down into the bottom part of the case instead of having the the long tube run as shown on the last few pictures above.

Basically, hide the long run down below.

This is coming along great, the acetal blocks really compliment the dark MM sleeving. That blue tubing gets richer looking every time I see it. And to your question of you posting too many pics don't make me have BA bust out the " minimum five pics per post rule". :ROTF:

First off, I love those fish. I love clownfish, they're so beautiful, and I love hearing my daughter say "NEMO!!!"

I'd like to get Photoshop and figure out what can be done to improve pictures. Maybe that's something else I'm missing. I just use raw pictures my camera took. I'm learning more and more!!

I haven't purchased any scotch just yet. Opened a bottle of wine the other night, but that's the only drinking I've done for weeks. Hopefully soon I'll have time to buy a bottle. ;) :up:

I use raw too and edit them in i photo on my Mac. It has nothing like Photoshop but I just recently got into photography. You need to drink more!:rofl:

I played around with the cable management today and it was very interesting and frustrating. I couldn't manage Sigfevers quota of five new pics, so no new photos tonight, just recyclables!
I rerouted the 24 pin through the midplate and it looked good up top.
Unfortunately the 24 pin is almost 22" long (550mm) so I end up with about 18" of wiring in the garage between the Rad, Pump and PSU. Needless to say it could get very crowded down there.
Therefore, I am leaning towards the "snake" in last nights pic, running the 24 upfront and down to the PSU.

I am concerned about messing up the ventilation in the bottom...any thoughts? I will be using a push configuration on the Rad which is a first for me.
I also ordered some new fittings, a rotary elbow for the Rad and I will be using the opposite hole in the front of the midplate for the tubing.

The bottom fitting for the Rad leading to the pump will be a rotary 45 and I have yet to determine the fitting I will use for the pump but it will probably be straight.
I also checked the Res fitting to connect to the Rad and I tried a 45 and a 90.
The 45 looks the best but the 90 may actually work better with the tubing. I won't know for sure until Saturday.
LMK your thoughts, especially about filling up the garage with wires!

PS, If you purchase this Rad know that it is big!!

how do you feel about cutting down the wire length & repinning w/ some gold connectors?

i think it would look nice if the cables flowed down the hole below the ram w/ the rest of the wires...& If you did re-pin...you have complete control of how the wires flow off of the MB..i.e. some wires prob will be longer than others to attain the flow you want up top & have a nice controlled flow to the PS (silverstone will never know...you just return the PS itself for RMA's, & you can buy a replacement cable for less than $20 should you want to move the ps to another build down the road)

i also note that you have just completed the sleeving :( so you prob do not want to hear it....just a thought

after i just looked @ your pics again...i also noted that the hole that i was talking about sending the wires down might get a little "plugged" up w/ v-card wires

is it possible to route the v-card wires around the back? i also noted you have this painted :(...so drilling a 3/4" hole (for gromet) for the connector to fit through is prob not something you want to hear either, but it could easilly be hidden behind the res & would create a different flow of wires off of your v-cards (straight back or up)...or if the cable length to the v-cards is too short you could get some extenders & sleeve them w/ the other .5 psychopacks you have left...but that would be alot of wires going toward the res...looks really are dependent on how you position the holes

Great idea PradaG, but three problems; 1. Too much work 2. Not enough scotch 3. You are correct! I just finished sleeving! BTW, did I mention not enough scotch or patience?

Looking great so far. I had to smile at the suggestion of redoing the PSU sleeving ... it hurts to even think about it so soon after completing it. I have a sneaking suspicion someone else will be doing my next one for me :p:

I'm always a big fan of having wiring and cables that are 'just enough'; I can frequently be found cutting/shortening my wires to the exact length needed. And then cutting/lengthening my wires when I change something. :D

I would definitely stick with this Rad, that is, as long as it performs well.
The size of it poses some problems but the problems are mainly due to my poor planning. The only thing that I will do differently on the next build is the PSU. I will be using this one in the 1Kw http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...m_power_supply

Alan, When I snake them as shown there is very little room. I am not ready for the Ninja school of cutting cables! Sleeving is enough for this old dog.

As i learned in one of my other hobbies, taking pictures really helps. It shows your mistakes and helps you with the solutions. Not to mention it shows old eyes what they cannot see!:yepp:
I actually like the look of the 24 pin wires snaking down through the front. After all, with the amount of work that goes into sleeving, you should be able to see your work!
I am getting closer to the finish line but I still have to sleeve the fans and the one molex run. The new BP fittings will be here tomorrow and I should have all of Saturday and Sunday to have more fun!

Yep - I like the 24-pin showing as well. I'm still a little confused about the fans and how the airflow is going to work with the giant rad and the PSU ... (but I am easily confused).

Glad you like the 24 pin.
The four fans will push (I prefer pull) but I will have a great deal of control due to the Aquaero. There is a great amount of open room between the pump and the Rad. This PSU does not give off a great amount of heat unless you really stress it to the max, which is hard to do. By stretching the cables there will be very little air restriction. I am also wiring the fans so that I can control the two fans between the PSU and the Rad separately. Which will allow me to control the fans in a 2x2 configuration.
I also have a 120 on the top and the bottom of my HDD cage which will allow me to pull or push, each controlled separately too! Once again, my Aquaero allows me a graet deal of control. OK I am exhausted now!

I must say, I do agree. With all that time and effort spent sleeving, it's only fair to show it off. But perhaps there's a better way you can run the cables where they're in more of a uniform pattern? It just looks a little uncontrolled the way it is.

JWR is better with soda, JWB is great with H20 and JW Blue is best in a glass all by it's lonesome. HTH and thanks for the comments!

Soda = carbonated soda water, as in club soda. Just try a little bit of each, mixing to taste. Heavier on the water at first. Ice is good.

i can not seem to locate 1/4" carbon filter sheets - i was able to pick up a washable home air filter (its almost like .5 inches thinck - no dice) from home depot. on top of that...it is blue....yuck...

Man, that PSU really is a beast eh. Perhaps we need to make a new midplate for such long PSUs with the wire management hole further forward... that way you could have had the PSU under the motherboard and the PCI-E cables could have gone up the back and over the top to the video cards. Although that might interfere with the lines of your upper hose...

In any event, you're doing a stellar job. :)

I think the seeker has 280s, but doubt the performance is much different than 285s. I replaced a 4870x2 with GTX 285s in SLI, and am very happy with the change. Not worth it if you already have the 4870x2, but a good option if you can accomodate the SLI solution.

I have 2x280's but in SLI they still beat out a 4870x2. However, unless you use a 30" display or 25x16 resolution, they are overkill.

Okay Off Topic, but I wanted to report back on my scotch experience from last night.

I really wasn't crazy about it, but I've never been a big fan of whiskeys. I'm glad I didn't use just regular soda water, I had to mask it a lot with the Coke. I guess I'm not that much of a gentleman after all. :(

I do like Jagermeister mixed with Red Bull, though. I can drink that stuff for hours. Anything with Vodka. And a nice red wine. So that's gentleman enough for me.

I think it would work. It would be at a low point in your system and would be able to drain a good amount of fluid out. It's probably a better option than cutting a tube off, which is what I do currently.

A couple of points; the pad under the pump and the hardware are temporary and so is the white molex on the pump. Please excuse the all the wires hanging around. I connected the five SATA cables as they are behind the Res and I didn't want to keep pulling it out.
I could have gone ahead and run the leak test but Mr. Dewars started calling me, so I will perform that task tomorrow. Once that is done I will install the HDD cage, Blu-Ray, Aquaero and the lighting. I may also add an Aqua Multiswitch LT to control the lighting.
I started this build on January the 8th and feels like it has taken six months to get to this point! However, since this is my first build of this type I am pretty happy with it, I just hope it boots!

with as black as this build is & there is no other red in existance anywhere else...maybe get some black ones :shrug:

Thanks! Yes, the SATA's are red and they only show through when I over expose. They will not be seen once everything is finished. However, great point and I will not make this mistake again!

This is coming along very nicely, it is clean and well thought out. I do like the loop from the cpu to the vid card more each time I see it, it flows well.

I think that NaeKuh's advice about the QC for a drain would look fine if you used the stubby female out of a rotary 45. Or you could run the tube to the rear of the case and use a bulk-head fitting to put a QC on the back.

Or we have another scotch and think about it some more. :up:

Wow Rocky.. I have to say that your radiator is HUGE. The size really looks fitting for the TJ07 and should prove to be a worthy asset in your water cooling system.

Great progress though, it looks like you've put a lot of work into getting it just right. It's more time consuming that most imagine. I just hope you don't have sleepless night figuring out where you're going to place your pump like I did.

Looking at the drain plug idea, I can't see how it would be an easy drain process. Given the construction of the D5 top, I would imagine you will have to rock your case back and forth a lot in order to drain your radiator. I know it isn't as sexy of an otpion, but a regular T fitting attached to the lower barb of the radiator would drain the system like a champ and since it is in the lower chamber would basically be out of sight. Just a thought.

I have been leak testing for two hours and no leaks!:D This pump is pretty silent even on five. I wasn't quite sure what to expect and the water going into the Res sounds like a babbling brook. I am surprised that it took a little less than half a gallon of H20. Here are a few pics.

I like the res setup, but I'm having a problem with the PCI-E cables. It may just be the pics, but they look a little scrunched. Is there any way to arrange them so they drape more? Hard to explain.

Thanks Shazza! The PCI-E cables will look much better tomorrow. Unfortunately, they cannot droop due to the tight bend from the 8-pin & 6-pin connector. There is no slack but I think you will like my solution.

Good Deal ... I figured you had something up your sleeve for the PCI-E cables (sorry, it's been a long day).

You are much more patient than I am, putting everything together methodically. I can't resist throwing it all together to see if it works, then I have to go back and redo it (once, twice, many more times).

Shazza, I was trained as a French chef, not an Italian Chef, no offense to the Italian community. The French teach patience and methodology. At the time I wanted to kill them all. However, in retrospect, the French were correct.

When it comes to food, scotch and computers, you might as well take your time and enjoy the outcome. Just my 2 cents!

My 4870x2 was idling at 28 with an ambient of 13. Not to shabby.

My cpu was around 26 and at 100% load was around 38.

Great rad, although sadly my system is dead.

I flashed to the latest bios to get more overclocking head room and now I've a dead mobo :(

Thanks John, I really like the tight tubing fit. I am working a couple of different angles on the video wires but I don't have a lot of flexibility.

Wonderful work. I have been watching this work log with great interest and it prompted me to try my own version of this.

One question though.

If you were to rotate the radiator 180° where the tubing connections were near the PSU end, and keep the pump where you have it, would this allow you to have shorter tube routes when it enters/deprts the basement?

It seems that the exit from the res would have a much shorter run length to get back to the pump. Also, the run from the pump to the radiator would almost be the same length (or at least hidden down there). Just curious if this is possible.

Thanks for the compliment. A very good question! I actually toyed with that very set up. It is possible but difficult. My PSU is very big too and the distance between the Rad and the PSU is small. With my PSU I would have had to use two 90's out of the Rad. I tried a 45 but the tubing would be touching the PSU, potentially more heat.

Then you would have a hole at the end of the midplate and the tubing would run under the CPU tubing. So yes, it would work, but I didn't like the look. Now if you use the 120.3 like BA did in his build, you have many more possibilities. HTH

It is very hard to say. I am currently working on my whiz-bang HDD mounting scheme. Getting four HDD's, the Aquaero and the Blu-Ray mounted in a stealth fashion is a bit of a pain. I am hoping it will boot Sunday. Who knows:shrug:

Yes, I figured you probably did look at it knowing how detailed you are.

I am a lot less 90° elbow averse these days after using the Bitspower versions. I will probably investigate this as well and may indeed end up with the same results as you.

I thought about the PA120.3, but then I would also want an PA 120.2 as well.
I will be going two DDCs in series and would like the extra room in front of the PSU like you have.

facing the same problem on my LLV2000...but i guess this will help(i have'nt tried it yet)

it does have smaller wide, wanna use the koolance rotary 90 before, but the koolance are to wide that can causing the tube touching the PSU or probably the 90 it self, from other 90' that i've seen, i guess that 90 from BP is the only one that have shorter design..
