What's your board's revision SF3D ?
And could you please give us a pic of the NB ? ( good enough to read the writings :p: )
Maybe a new revision ( not sure, but it could be ) or a minor revision "silently" applied to the latest batches.
Maybe nothing, just better luck on the MCH pick.
One thing's for sure, that with each new BIOS release the memory clocking will be getting better, the only question is... how much.
SF3D put us a 4GB kit in there and see how you do then?
Can you post some settings?
- Performance level ?
- Voltages : NB ? ? VTT ? vPLL ? GTL-ref tuning ?
Can't get to 600FSB myself, top out at 595 for now on bios 0904.
Nice going by the way !
Edit : saw your PL in the screenshots : 10 & 11 :) Voltages still interest me though :)
Memset show the memory settings and voltages were
CPU: 1:45V
NB: 1.56V
VPLL: 1.6
VTT: 1.22V
rest: auto
-Tony: I have only one 4GB ram set and they haven't done over 850MHz (1700) in any board so far. I don't think they will clock any better on this board.
Best bios seems to be 0704. Weird!
not sure if anyone mentioned this but 0904 is on the asus site now.
P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP @n BIOS V0904
Update Boot Block Version
does anyone have anything newer than this?
nope same file according to crc32, md5 and sha-1 file hashes
something not right here, are you guys booting this speed from bios or are you booting in as lot lower and pushing up with setfsb?
it seems new bios won't be released this week.
I agree Tony, something is not right, at least with our boards ;) At these settings my board won't even post lol.
My settings for 575x7 / E8400 :
PL: 13 (!)
CPU : 1,375
NB: 1.48V (above 1.50 board is acting up - might be cooling related)
VPLL: 1,70
VTT: 1,36
GTLref : 0,620-0,630
NB strap : 266 (!)
Memory : 1725Mhz (2:3) - 87728 (OCZ Flex II - Samsung based)
Not stable enough for me though : prime for about 5min, but not much more. Also, 7x multi worked much better for me than 6 or 6,5.
Edit : I'm on watercooling (only CPU)
It was a few weeks since I tested this board now but out of my head I think you both are kind of right. :)
The feeling I got was that vNB, vPLL and vTT needs to be at a certain level compaired with eachother. If I recall right vNB=1.56 and vPLL=1.7 was what took me to the highest FSB. But to make it stable just a few mhz lower FSB I had to lower one of them.
The highest 3D-benchable FSB I tested was 595. Strap 333 seemed to be a little more stable than 266. It worked best if I set vcore, vnb, vpll, vtt and the rest to auto. I have not tried x.5 multipliers that much with high FSB as I until now only have used aircooling. I have not tried any newer BIOS than 0704 but so far max RAM-speed has been around 1900MHz with CAS7 (G.Skill 2x1GB, D9GTR).
I hope to try 0904 within a couple of days.
EDIT: REV 1.02G China
600fsb easily on this mobo..
632fsb on air cpu and nb stock
PL: 13
CPU : 1,300
NB: 1.44V
NB GTL: 0.545
VPLL: 1,52
GTLref : 0,610-0,610
NB strap : 333
Vfsb: 1.4v
Vdimm: 1.88v

Guys, I think I've already had it with this board. I've tried every Dram clk skew under the sun to get my kits to post in dual channel. Tried black and orange slots. nothing works. I can run 2x2 in single channel just fine but bandwidth is crap.
I had this same problem on my P5e3 dlx x38.
Both sticks pass memtest separately but board will not post in dual channel. Does anyone have any tricks up their sleeves for me? I'm out of ideas here. I've tried everything.
even the 2x1 reaperx (micron D9GTN) kit wont post in dual. I'm gonna rma this board and get ws evolution or p5e3 premium. :(
just so everyone knows we are using fully jedec compliant spd on all ocz kits, this has also been double checked with Intel for the BT2 bundles etc so we know there is nothing wrong with spd and Intel chipsets.
Now, asus may require a tweak to this spd, we are looking into it this next week but being honest I doubt it will do anything.
from talking to engineers noise dual channel seems to be the issue, P45 is really sensitive and jitter throws a spanner in the works with this chipset when memory load climbs up.
I tested MSI, Asus and GBT boards with ddr3 4gb kits, they are all pretty much crap at this time. 2GB kits are working a lot better with the samsung IC doing better than Micron. So if all these guys posting 600fsb matters to you make sure you get a 2gb samsung based kit, if like me 2gb is not enough then consider buying one of the 4GB samsung kits till a miracle happens in bios or I find some wonder spd tweak that removes jitter..LOL
anyone able to get a quad to 500? I managed to get to 490, but am not really sure about my settings.
trial and error for me. Is it just the quads?
ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe 1103 Beta Bios
[1103]
----------------------
anyone tryed to mesourament ram voltage drop ??
i tryed it and i found that if i put 2,00v @ bios the m/b did 1,91v @FULL and 1,96/97 @ IDLE, someone can try pls ?
yep, BIOS 1.94 -> idle measured 1.97 -> load measured 1.97
are you sure 1.97@ load ? try with prime or orthos@ blend
yes, i am sure. i used prime95 blend, prime95 large fft and memtest 2.01 for load test
ok its ok now :)
another question: how can i put ram 1T ??? which is the valor on bios ??
i tryed 0904 and i cannot be stable at 1800 8-8-8 1,9v but with beta 1102 i am stable....
i tryed also 850 6-6-6-18 2,3v but i cannot be stable with both bioses but with x48t-dq6 i am stable @ 900 6-5-5 2,2v...
any ideas?
Still no luck with this beta BIOS, my Q9450 and OCZ3P16002GK 2x1G kit...
Everything on Auto after loading setup defaults -> can't boot Windows.
With DRAM Voltage at 1.80V (RAM still at 1333), I can boot and launch many programs, but not even a second of SuperPI.
The only way to have a stable SuperPI 4M is to set my 1600 kit to 800MHz.......
Other problems with my Core 2 Quad :
With "CPU Margin Enhancement" at "Optimize" (default), 2 cores are OK, but the last 2 do errors very often. The last two threads of Prime95 stop after a second or two. I had data corruptions on programs and the system...
With "Performance Mode" it's OK.
i tryed 0904 and 1102 but i cannot reach 1000 with cellshock 15000 (blue JNL) .... max 980 1,86v , 1000 with any voltage wont work....
i tryed kingstone 14400 too (GTR) and i cannot push them 6-6-6 or 6-5-5 @ good frequency ( with x48 i did sp1mb 925mhz 6-6-6-18 2,25v now with 2,3v on p45 i cannot surpass 850mhz...)
help me pls :(
I have a problem with my motherboard. The SATA disks I have installed appear properly in the BIOS menu, but when I want to install any Windows OS (Vista, XP), a mesage appears saying that the disks are not recognised. The BIOS version is 0904 and my SATA disks are seagate ST3500320AS sata II. The RAM's that I'm using are Mushkin PC3-14400 and the CPU is Intel Q9450. Any suggestions would be more then appreciated. ;)
No I didn't,where can I get them...drivers
From Intel's download center.
Download the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager and extract the files on a temporary folder on your HDD and then copy then on your favorite media ( anything will work for Windows Vista installations ) [ for XP you need a FDD or to integrate them ].
To extract the files from the installation package you just need to open a command prompt window and type C:\INTEL_MSM_INSTALLFILE_DIRECTORY\FILENAME.EXE -A -PC:\Temp
That will extract the files in C:\Temp
I have an interesting problem with this mobo. I cannot work dual channel very well. I tried 4 pairs of kit but same. I push 6ghz with single channel but with dual kit max stable 5.7ghz :(
my new test with 1102 do this:
with cellshock pc3-15000 i can get 970 stable cas 8 with 1,9v but i after 485 on 1:2 the motherbeard is totaly unstable.
tryed cas 7 too and cant go over 460....
with kingston 14400 gtr i tryed low timings and the motherboard can handle 850 cas 6....
Still unable to get my board fully stable. :(
Think I've had enough, will be asking Advancetec.co.uk if they will allow me to pay the difference to swap to a P5E3 Premium.
 Didn't think to try single channel, I can't hit 5.8, on a 6Ghz chip.
Will try single channel when I get some more time.
I've tried 3 kits on this board (2X1Gb)
The G.Skill 1800 7-7-7 HZ's work great, very stable and make this a fun and fast board to use.
Running at 950 Cas7 PL6 is easy.
OCZ Platinum 1600 7-6-6 EB's don't really play nice, needs alot of work. and working out your best settings will see a lot of blackscreens and cmos resets.
Cell Shock 1866 8-8-8, my god does my board hate this set, nothing will go my way and even turned my OS to toast.
Anyone actually had good success with 2x2GB ram DDR3-1600 & above yet?
Anyone tried DDR3-1600+ kits from Mushkin, Patriot, G.Skill, Adata, Team, Cellshock, Super Talent, Kingston ??
my crucial ballistix 1600mhz kit will run 1600mhz without a problem and will boot 1800mhz but then locks up booting windows and causes me to have to do a cmos reset to get it to boot again. this is with the 1103 bios. some improvement but not up to par to what my ram is capable of.
super talent 1800 cl7 here.
Works 'good' at 1800mhz cl7 450bus speed, with a quad. The X.M.S. setting in the bios was great! Same problem as others though, in order to get a higher fsb, I have to apply a ratio to the ram.
Is that micron compatibility problem fixed yet?
Hi! Yesterday I tested this motherboard again and tried to find max stable memory speed in 32M superpi.
Do not blame ASUS or your memory sticks if you can't get good results. There is something "wrong" in the chipset. It is acting really weird sometimes when using different dividers or memory speeds.
Tight timings are impossible (for me) with P45. 1T and 7-6-6-15 timings would make this board fantastic. We have X48 for that, I quess.
Memory voltage was 2.2V (Higher doesn't help, cause it is limited by P45)
Here is aircooled 32M run:
http://www.aijaa.com/img/b/00682/2385677.jpg
Then I decided to test this motherboard with one of my E8500 CPUs and LN2 cooling. This motherboard is not the best for 32M :(
Here is my max 32M:

Mem bandwidth at that speed:

Then some 8M fun. Not bad I quess:

No huge problems so far
I need help please
I have p5q3 dlx bios 0904 with e8500 and 2x1 gb cellshock blue 1866 8-8-8-24
and i have big problems for stabilze all
i try 9x450 and ram 1800 with 1,94 volt or 1,96 8-8-8-24 and freeze
i try 9,5 multipler x 425 fsb and 1:2 ram and crashed
all is with strap 333
i put only this
vcpu 1,32 and real 1,30
vram 1.94 - 1.96
vnb 1,54
all rest is auto
ram 8-8-8-24 OTHER AUTO
disable all on cpu configuration
disable cpu spread spectrum and pciexpr spread
i try change divisor ram and work fine
please saidd me if i need change some on bios for stabilize my computer
Thnaks to all
Try 500fsb, strap 333 and 1600MHz memory speed. That is where my stability starts. I have used 8x500 from the start and there is no problems. VNB is only 1.3V and Vmem ~2.1V
Those must be memory divider issues you have there.
thanks for help i try and said
are you sure that problem isn't compatibility with cellshock?
is possible that p5q3 dlx have prblem with 1:2?
i have cpu with 9,5 multipler and i must use 8X?
before this mortherboard i have p5k3 dlx and cellshock works good
what is perfect mortherboard for stabilze my computer?
i must take X48?? or 790i??
thanks for all
Yes, it can be a bug with those memory sticks. I can't say for sure, cause I don't have those new blue ones myself.
Let's see how it goes with settings above! VNB can be higher, but you should not need anything higher than 1.4V at that fsb.
Mine is working fine with the CellShocks.
If you think you're having SPD issues, then let me know and I'll give you my SPD.
How far can you guys get with a wolfdale on air with this board. 550ish?
I was thinking about changing my quad to a dual, because I'd rather have the faster fsb than the extra 2 cpu's.
Would there be another board that would oc well with my 1800 ddr3? I guess really FSB speed is more important than fast ram at least for what I want.
thanks
Today I decided to test my 4GB G.Skill HZ (F3-12800CL7D-4GBHZ) memory set.
Results were similar to my previous tests with these sticks. Chips are D9JNL.
800MHZ 8-7-7-18, 2.0V (500x8)
Attachment 82276
854MHz 8-7-7-18 2.0V (533x7.5)
Attachment 82277
875MHz 8-8-7-18 2.06V (547x7)
Attachment 82278
900MHz 8-8-8-18 (2.08V) (563x7) starting to loose stability here...
Attachment 82279
916MHz 8-8-8-18 (2.08V) (572x7) not much stability left.
Attachment 82280
No problems with basic 800MHz settings (up to 875MHz)
Like I said earlier, these memory sticks did the same with X48 and 790i / 790i Ultra.
New P5Q3 revision is better than the old. That is for sure
new P5Q3 rev.?
i have now 2GB CSX Diablo DDR3-2000 (D9GTR) on it

Look back few pages and you see what I'm talking about :D
You have 2x1GB sticks and those are normal results for them. You must have the same rev that I do.
Those old rev. motherboards have a lot of problems with 2x1GB and 2x2GB sticks. Now we can see, that 2x1GB is doing 1GHz and 2x2GB can do 900+ MHz easily
Chri$ch can you tell us settings for your scores 1040mhz on rams ??
bios used ??
yes thanks if can post your setting for take 2000 mhz ram
Received my board yesterday.
I got Patriot Viper 1333 CL7 2GB kit with it for starters.
This is what i got after trying it for a few hours.I am using the official 1103 BIOS.
http://www.thehardwarelabs.com/forum...35d1e17b46.jpg
Will be spending some more time with it today. Anyone here has any idea, what chips could be there in this kit ? I tried finding on the net but couldnt find anything.
we need all settings for 1000mhz rams!!!
@ aerie
FSB 500
divider 1:2
Timings 8-7-6-19
vdimm @ 2.06v (real ~2v)
vNB @ 1.38v (real ~1.32v)
vPLL @ 1.52v
vFSB @ 1.20v
LLC enabled
rest @ auto
thx a lot :) for 1040 the same ?
strap ??
PL auto ?
alpha timings all on auto ?
yep, all @ auto..
but i can set the PL to 7 for dual 32M
strap 266,333 or 400 ?
auto
you guys need to run 4GB and pcmark vantage at 1600+ and show us some stability?
Also is it confirmed that these boards have had a hardware revision? My old board here does not where near what these boards are doing now!
yes, it must be a hardware change.. i tried older bios and its no problem to boot higher FSBs and mem clocks.
But the Mainboard Rev. is the same (1.02G) as my first P5Q3 (which was crap!)
Edit: can someone try to boot with ~1.5 - 1.55v VCore on Wolfdale? i cant boot more than 1.49v, if i try more
my pc shut down after bios saving and wont boot.
Ok now we need high res photo's of the boards so we can see if it was a component change.
for all those who were early adopters of this board i hope you take note that there does look to have been a hardware change and you need to be talking to Asus regarding any memory issues.
ehm.. this is a Maximus II Formula and not P5Q3 Deluxe :D
D'oh, wrong thread:rolleyes:
hehe :D
What CellShocks model on your pair is working fine ? i looking will try your SPD, i have alot of problem on mine bluekit :(
Are you can played this pair on 1:2 divided ? i met alot problem on 1:2 with D9JNL same both on mine G.SKILL(F3-12800CL7D) and Bluekit but for D9GTR it not any problem
btw. i have G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-2GB 2x pack one on D9JNL and one on D9GTR
Thanks :)
Both the Blue Kit and the black kit ( DDR3-1800 8-7-6-21 @ D9GTR ) that Sascha sent me for review a year ago Zol.
Hi guys,
My mobo won't boot correctly after a neat flash from the EZ-Flash utility interface at POST. Everything went well but after the reboot, no video output but the system is in sort of stand-by mode. I thought Asus Diehard bios will boot from the backup chip automatically if anything went wrong. Can I manually choose to start from the backup chip?
Please help! I don't like the RMA thing :( .
By the way my modded bios could be the culprit but I went flashing confidently relying on their claim "Diehard Bios".
mine did that for an hour or so. you have to unplug the PSU and hold the power button down for 30sec then reset the cmos jumper. it should boot up to the bios recovery screen and already have loaded the 0507 bios.
thanks a lot but it didn't work :( . I'll dig deeper and keep you updated.
Here's what saved me from a bad bios flashing, even though carried out by Asus's recommended EZ Flash 2. Beware, it's extremely DANGEROUS. Not fit for shaky hands and weak heart ;). Here's the post from another forum:
I found only some info on a Aopen board that has same technology and this restore is done with changing a jumper, but P5Q3 doesn't have such jumper. (i tried with the CLRM jumper but no luck)
The only way I could boot again is by changing the bios chip physically. (BE CAREFULL WITH THE PINS)
After swapping them it can boot again with factory bios but no way to flash this chip, its protected.
Also, I wrote Asus an email about it. Today I got reply from them that they don't know it either so the forwarded my email to Taiwan and will come back to me.
BiTRiP
Then getting a hint from another guy, he did this :
I booted with the backupchip in the mainsocket, then started up EZ Flash. Before selecting an old working ROM I removed the bioschip from the mobo (while it was still running) and replaced it with the bad flashed bioschip.
Then I pressed ENTER to write flash again. Scary but cool, it works.
The left one (the one closest to the pci slots) is the backup chip and the right one is the main chip.
Just be carefull and pull it straight out, not one side then the other.
Good luck
Now, I'm able to post from my favorite system :). Hope it helps other unlucky guys like me.
Hi! people
hi have a headache with this board. this is my setup
Q9450
Asus P5Q3 Deluxe (0704 bios)
2x2GB CORSAIR DDR3 1600
XFX 260 GTX
2xWD6400AAKS
625W ENERMAX MODU 82+
Windows Vista Sp1 Ultimate X64....
Well ...when i updtate the bios witz EZ-Flash or Asus update to a bios like 903 or 1102 or 1103 te SO crashes with blue screen end IRQ_NOR_LES EQUAL Error...
anymore have this problem?
which is the best pcb right now ? 1.02G is best ?
i had 1.02G. I think most out now are 1.02G.
When i say had, i mean i have it, but i'm RMAing it because I think i killed it.
well... if anyone was wondering... P5Q3 and WD velociraptor works fine together. no issues here. however... enabling write back cache makes the drive perform worse on the ICH10R but better on ICH9R. weird.
anyone know if the 1201 bios fixes the mem issues?
Well, that 1201 is piece of :banana::banana::banana:, at least for me.
If board does´nt boot with OC settings then when turning main power of from PSU it clears bios.
im not having that problem but my ram STILL wont run over 1600mhz. im guessing it's RMA time. has anyone RMAed to the newer board revision yet? what did you tell asus?
same here... my ram does'nt like any above 1600MHz.
So I got my RMA'ed board. They are shipping 1.02G's with 611 BIOS. For now
Any new bioses available?
Or what is best bios for high FSB on Micron chips so far?
man with all these problem on this board I may just get a biostart DDR2 board instead jeez!
