It would be nice, if someone mix a litle of 0603 with the last Bios features...
No more modders like Atic-Atac, to change some Bios?:D

I don't have such issues. What rev is your P5K-E?Quote:
I get no posts sometimes with 602 and have to boot with 1 stick of ram
Rev 1.01
I have just flashed to latest 906 and it seems ok now  Read some others had issues also. My board always been funny when i went back to 0602:shrug:
I think i have corrupted the PCIE lane on the board. Been benching with 125 and its corrupted somethink. Still testing so could be the controller o nthe SATA drive i hope.
I am using it with A-dAta ram - as you can see from my sig.
no issues whatsoever.
RAM A-DATA 2x1GB DDRII Over Clock Extreme Edition DDR2 800+ is ok:
4-4-4-11 2T @ 2vdimm @840, 4-4-4-11 2T @ 2.3vdimm @ 900MHz, 4-3-3-9 @ 2.3vdimm @ DDR800
Also my friend tested them with this mobo:
500MHz @ 4-4-4-12 2T @ 2.4V
500MHz @ 5-4-4-12 2T @ 2.3V
ok finally sorted it out. downgraded from the shipped 802 bios to the 603. thanks to who hosted it. before i would bsod on anything over 300fsb. did i mention i hate 802.
now with 603 im running 430fsb at 1.45v. cpuz shows 1.44 so no vdroop. running orthos now to check the stability. probably raise the fsb more later and then start using these ballistix 8500 i got. its amazing the difference the bios makes.
its a revision 1.02g
Latest Bios 0906 had No Droop
I measured with Multi also and seems ok here. I wanted it as i kept getting no post with 0602
I only know what my CPU can do on Cascade and havent it connected. So if someone can test with there CPU they know will do a certain FSB as i hope high FSB is still good. Cheers

No droop but did it have Vdrop?
What Vcore did you set in bios to get that 1.304V?
1.3v mate. I must add i have volt mods to the board which i completely forgot about :p: woops. anyone else confirm no vdroop with this bios please.
I will be using it and will see how it goes.
EDIT
Can now boot 4-4-4-12 with my memory and its stable. 0602 i tryed for hours with 2.55v with no luck so this bios is looking v good for me now.
Also

im on 906 now and the cpu vcore .1 bug is still present
Anyone else tried it? I'm curious to see what 1.5-1.6v gives in CPU-Z.
Whats Asus doing to these BIOS's!! :(
A 0.1V+ vdrop/droop is terrible..
so still the best is 0603?
Yes, afaik.
Do we need these later stuffed up BIOS's for proper Penryn support though?
Yes - P5K-E/WiFi-AP cpu support list - Click Here.
The new E8200, E8400, E8500 wolfdale cpu's require bios 906.
After all I didn't get something ..... is the 0906 vcore drop between bios -> windows (cpu-z) = 0.1v issue been resolved ? That's what matters.
Reading 4QMan post it seen to be resolved that bug !
Been testins 906. Best bios by far for my board as far as i can tell.
No boot issue i mean sometines my board wont post and i have to use 1 stick of ram. Google lots of people have post about it.
I will know for sure when i get board back on cascade in a few days if high FSB is still doable. :)
One question:
I have Vmod pencil, in my Board.
The Vcore in Bios is 1.45v.
However, Cpuiz shoes 1.465v:confused:
Now i have the oposite of Vdroop:rofl:
http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/3784/1212ss1.png
Other problem, that i have....
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/7262/11111pb2.png
Wish one should i use?
I one try some FSB on the fly......but i can`t!
Doesn`t work!
Nvidia Nforce 2 + ClockGenarator, was a sharm......
Tks,
This one is correct...ICS9LPRS916BGLF...if you tried another you may have to restart computer and try again.
You can also use clockgen with...ICS 9PLRS509.
Fairly noob question here, but everyone here seems to use SetFSB, what advantage does this have over say, the Asus AI Booster program? That programs works great for me..
confirming 0.1v vdroop on 0906 bios with pencil mod that creates 0.03v overvolt from bios setting to windows reading. No load droop. Stability and temperatures seem similar to 0603.
I am still encountering link width issues were overclocking results in lowered link width to x1 from x16, causing severe GPU performance issues. I can set PCIE frequency to 110 and correct, but the issue sometimes returns. I have tried settings up to 120 with similar results. Anyone find a permenant solution?
The fix for that issue usually is just increasing the PCIe frequency to 105 or 110, or in the case of some other MBs(eg. Gigabyte), increase the PCIe slot voltage. Not sure what else you can do..
Looks like I will be needing to upgrade my BIOS for proper Penryn support, even though I don't want to.. a 0.1V vdrop means the max vcore I can get is 1.6V right? I like 1.7V for benching. :(
One more time:
Vdrop-- setting 1.5V in bios but getting 1.4V in windows( just an example)
Vdroop-- 1.4V idle in windows, but voltage going down under (heavy) load, like ~1.35V.
Please, try to use the right term to avoid misunderstandings.
I'd really like to know if bios 0906 has Vdrop, i'm getting a wolfdale and i would love to have 1.7V if possible.
Yes it has vdrop. ~0.1vQuote:

Dear Xtremes:
Today, the worse Overclocker Nightmare did hapen:eek:
- Just arrive at home, and the Monitor was black!
Reboot.....nothing....
I even went to buy a cheap memory Kingston, to reboot...
I did get inside the Bios, and even on XP.....but every time i had to reboot, no image!
Strangly, every time i remove the batery, and clear CMOS, and didn`t conect the Monitor Cable, i could enter in Bios......
When i did try, to reboot.....back to black image....
The sound was long -short -short-short.
Finaly, after 100000***** reboots, i did buy a cheap Video card, and Magic happen:clap: :welcome:
I could enter, reboot and change Bios.......
Questions:
If my Asus 1950PRO is defective, why could i enter in Bios, with cheap memories, but not reboot???
I even could go to XP SO, like nothig did happen:shrug:
I hate this Asus, since i could change GPU & Memory speeds, thanks their protection....now the result is a crazy dead grafica card.......:shakes:
Could it be some modification, in their firmware?
No Juice from Enermax 475?
A month ago, i did have to go to the store, with my PK5-E, and they put a cheap memory, enter Bios, change Vdram, and them i put my Muskin...
Then they try my Asus VGA, and all went ok.
Now, i must gess, that this Asus VGA, was always defective........
Sorry the testement....
Please tell us about the vdrop! :D.
I have 0603 now, but i don't have a CPU at this moment. I'm waiting for the e8400. But when i get that CPU, can i update my bios to 0906? Because i think e8400 is not supported in 0603.. How can i upgrade then?
If i look at this list:
http://event.asus.com/mb/45nm/nl/
I see that the P5K-e Wifi has native support for 45nm CPU's. Does this mean we can use the e8400 with bios 0603?
But here, they say from bios 0906:
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/c...=P5K-E/WiFi-AP
So i can update the bios if i want to with the e8400 to 0906?
And will overclock work right with bios 0603?(then i don't want to update)
I flashed with the new oficial 0906 !
Noticed Changes :
- some bios options renamed
- some bios options location changed
- one or two new options
- 3:4 memory divisor !!!!
Oficial changes :
- support for the new 45nm CPU's ( E8xxx )
- enhanced memory compatibility
As to voltage drops :
vdrop (bios->windows) = 0.1v like the latest bios since 08xx, so to get 1,4vCore in windows I have 1,5vCore in bios
vdoop (iddle->full) = don't really know because I have the pencil vdroop mod, and it's almost 0 :D
As to OC, my system is stable as it was with the 0602 !
Is there much difference between BIOS 0503 and 0603? I'm running 0503 but aren't sure if I will get any benefits of upgrading?
Running E6850 now, will be running an E8400 soon.
I think I will run one of those when I first get my E8400, so I can run some tests with close to 1.7V, then I will upgrade to the latest BIOS.
It was water, from the Apogee GT.....
Everthing is ok, except 1050PRO...
I hope, later clean it and recover the Asus 1950PRO:(
Thank you, God of Overclockers, to spare my PK5-E...
Green stuff all over it........
g1raffe, if you are going to put an 45nm CPU I advise you to flash 0906 bios. If you are going to use an 65nm CPU then use the 0602 ;)
I'm flashed my P5K Premium 0404 to 0504 bios and i lost stability..
Q6600 G0 VID 1.300 V
0404
425x8 1.41 V 24H full load ok
0504
425x8 1.43 V 24H Full load ok..
and always 0.01 V drop with voltage damper enabled
:(
I am still having trouble with the PCIE link width setting itself to x1 when clocking past 355 FSB (3200MHz). I can change the PCIE frequency from Auto to anythin between 100-120 without success, and beyond 120 I can not boot into windows because of an 'incorrect boot device, please select proper boot device and reset' message. I can not get around that message either.
So, for now, I am stuck at 3.2 with great graphics and a water cooled system. Also, I have found that this board can not boot 1T with Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400C4 and PRO 1GB modules. Timing 4-4-4-12-2T boots fine at 856MHz, but 1T won't boot even underclocking the memory.
I can not wait toget the E8400 in there and see what happens.
Any advice is welcomed.
PS. I have tried different NB/SB/PLL voltages without any success in link width. Just thought that I should mention it.
0602:
BIOS: 1.4325
Idle: 1.416
Load: 1.400
0906:
BIOS: 1.5250
Idle: 1.416
Load: 1.400
Idle->Load was the same in 0906 with or without Load-Line Calibration Enabled.
Having 400 MHz FSB Strap is nice.. 1066 with L3 Transaction booster was a nice touch.
Would someone mind uploading bios 0603 again? Previous link doesn't work for me :(
Flashed to 0906 for official Penryn support.
0503:
BIOS: 1.7V
Windows: ~1.66V
0906:
BIOS: 1.7V
Windows: 1.57V
I might flash to 0603, can someone confirm that this does run Penryn ok? Even if it gives you a uCode error at startup that doesnt worry me.
Why did Asus decide to "evolve" from good to bad with their bios'es? I cannot understand why mess with something that works.
I am in discussion with Asus about the Vdrop issue. And by in discussion I mean that I have contacted their tech support and expect to hear back from them by 2009 with a solution. Something like, "we do not advise changing the Vcore setting in the bios, thank you for contacting us.'
1.5 shows as 1.38 in windows for me
BIG vdrop!
Is it possible to downgrade from 0906 to 0603, if i don't like 0906? And if yes, can it done with ASUSUpdate? And with afudos?
I used afudos with my p5b-deluxe everytime, and i think it's a very good program. But when i tried it with my p5k-e, it says something about error: block code incorrect. This was when i went from 0803 to 0603. What does this mean? When i did it with ASUSUpdate (in windows, not so safe i think in windows), it worked..
There have been problems downgrading from 0903 and 0906, for it to done I believe you have to try to re-flash 0906 with a USB through EZ-Flash, restart the PC during the flash, let it do a BIOS recovery and then re-flash the version you want. Or something like that.
Hey g1raffe,
Does 603 work with the e8400?
Thanks.
I didn't try 0603 or any other BIOS before 0906 with the E8400, although the older ones do run them 'unofficially' afaik. You will get an error message at every startup though, and they may be some other downsides to using the older BIOS with them? Hopefully someone else can conform.
Thanks. I have the p5k vanilla and they don't have a bios upgrade for the 45nm chips yet, running bios 603. My e8400 comes in today =).
A "litle" help......
In my OFFTOPIC issue, of watercoolink leak, i did make a donwgrade, from 0603, to 0602Beta bios, using the Donwgrade option in AsusUpdate, with no problems.
Also, i notice that in Bios, it did refuse do do it:confused:
Mordorr
Hi.
Hum.....nothing that i notice, since i use Pencil Vdroop...
Anyway, im a litle more worry, with my 1950PRO, that went to RMA:shakes:
So.i only did it, because i thought that 0603, was corrupted......
I did have 0 problems with 0603, but i do not think there is much diference, between 0603 and 0602beta....
Mordorr
Anyone had any luck with wolfdale on 0602/0603?
Where can I download BIOS 0603 for the P5K-E/Wifi-AP?
From the Asus site
http://support.asus.com/download/dow...=P5K-E/WIFI-AP
EDIT: Actually 0603 isn't there?
Some people talk about 0603 but Asus did never publish it. Is it identical to 0602 Beta?
Bios 603 was published fo P5K Deluxe, which is almost identical to P5K-E, so people are just using the P5K Dlx bios on P5K-E without any issues.
Regarding vdrop (and as some reported vdroop - voltage dampener not working) in recent bioses: my guess is that asus does it on purpose, the privilege of having no vdrop and no vdroop leaving only for the high-end mobos.
Is the vdroop on BIOS 0603 as high as the vdroop on BIOS 0906, when I disable the voltage damper on 0603?
Random question...
Could the high vDrop on the 0906 (and some other) have anything to do with compliance with the Wolfdales?
They are supposed to be lower voltage.. perhaps there is some new standard or something, I don't know. Maybe Asus doesn't want us pushing more than 1.59 vCore through it on their boards.
When i used BIOS 602 on my Board, on standard speed it would boot ok, but any OC would end up in a crash, just past the bios post i would get this message:
"BAD CMOS RAM"
i searched for settings in my bios, and ive Succsesfully clocked it to 380MHz.. on the 806bios
Setup
P5KE-Wifi
C2DE6600
DDR2 800 (kingston)

Hi im thinking of selling my p5b deluxe and getting one of these boards as im limited to 360fsb on my p5b as you get crap memory performance http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=30
is there any issues like that with this board?
Thanks
i've now succesfully loaded bios 0603 into my bios.
and clocked my E6600 to 3,4GHz with 8x multiplier
so my FSB is 425..
Bios Vcore = 1,4875
CPUZ IDLE = 1,472
CPUZ LOAD= 1.464
.VDrop of 0.0155V
VDroop of 0.008V
(Bios 0603 > Damper on)
I have a Antec P182 case with all 5 fans, and i have a Zalman CPUNS9700LED Cpu cooler..
and i cant get my E6600 stable on 3.6Ghz with 1.55Vcore
is this normal?
would i get the E6600 stable on 3.6GHz with 1.55Vcore with the pencil mod
is it possible?, I really want to hit 3.6 with my CPU :D
I'd give it a very good chance, but we wont know for sure until you have tried it. :P
Is the Vcore on 0906 and 0603 the same when the Voltage Damper is disabled? Or is the Vdroop on 0906 even worse than on 0603?
should i apply these mods. or the one Resistor from the topic start
and how do you do these mods, just a 2HB pencil, en color it black from left to right?
and probably buy heatsinks for my upper mosfets as well i supose;
my guess would be that we can, however somebody needs to try it.
i'm sitting with the 503 bios that came with my board, haven't even tried 603 - everything is working perfect (running even Samsung HDDs in RAID, which are supposed to error with these mobos), so there was no need for me...
Whats the best BIOS for this board with a Q6600, friend of mine just got this board
100 % would say 0602 or 0603 either bios is fine..
some people prefer 0603 some 0602
bios 0603 doesnt DEACTIVATE the wifi card, might be the reason why Asus doesnt have available
should it deactivate the wifi?
That choice is up to you to make.
I'm getting an E8500 on Monday probably. Will leave my current 0603 on and see how it goes with it. If i can't get it to start and have to go borrow some Conroe to update then i'm gonna kill somebody.
Didn't anyone try a wolfie with the 06x bios?
For day to day yeah but going for max clocks i bet i'll use more then 1.6.
Can you upgrade the N/B-voltage regulator heatsink so both sets of voltage regulators are covered?
I am very confused, shocked and happy atm. Hopefully someone can tell me what is going on.
I am running 0906 BIOS, have been having the vdrop issue like everyone else.
Whilst testing a 24/7 OC at 4.2Ghz, I noticed that vdrop was only 0.03V or so, now I set the voltage to 1.7V and am getting ~1.66V, still on 0906 AND THE VDROP IS GONE????
Screenshot.
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...rydg/1656V.jpg
That's some weird ass stuff man  Hope mine stays like that after i update :D
The vdrop now seems to be coming and going, I ran some quick tests with the higher voltage but it doesnt help my CPU much, maybe even makes it a little worse in SPI 1M, helps a little in 3DMark06.
With the times it has or hasn't worked, There has been one thing in common, if I set the voltage <1.6V, but <1.7V(1.6 or 1.7 exact had vdrop), it didn't have the vdrop.
What happens to everyone else when you set 1.6xxV?
Does This cooler fit on the upper Mosfet.
http://images.google.be/imgres?imgur...%3Dnl%26sa%3DN
Yeah. Only one of them fits though (U or S). Check thermalright's site as they have info for which fits on that spot, on your motherboard.
No need for an X38. The P5K-E is a champion :)
