Eva, is that one of your L723's?
It's the E6850 L723A347 with higher max FSB i tested before - see screenie text for batch ;)
Images of what, orthos? :)
I cant get my stable at 4.1, even if i can have the comp on for a week, and play games and do all things, but if i put it in orthos it BSOD after a few minst, nomather what Vcore i use...
And now im waiting to get home, i did put it on orthos at 4ghz yesterday heheh, its been on for 24hrs, IF it hasnt died :) dunno, hope not :)
i have to use 1.56 for 4ghz stable...little high, but it works, around 55c in load after 30 mins before i left, if its still on tomorrow, im not goin home today either , its 48hrs++ stable hgeheh...is there a possibilty for that? hehe.. THEN its rockstable :P
Testing my new 6850 on the QuadGT.
Batch is L720A958, pack date 07/31/07.
The board is giving me some booting problems, which I never had before (4 months of usage with a Xeon 3050 @ 3600Mhz).
So far, I'm testing 3900Mhz, 1.50V (1.55V in bios), all watercooled with Dtek Fuzion, PA120.3 etc....)
whoops read your last post incorrectly i thought you meant this is your batch and here are your numbers/clocks.. hehe

can 500fsb require more vcore? or is it just vmch that needs it?

Update.. 3800 orthos with 1.31v
http://mekk.homeip.net/imagesharing/...b77bc13b98.jpg
rabor, what fans/speed are you using for PA120.3?
I ask, because I have a similar system - D-tek fuzion, PA120.3 + shroud, 8800ultra with innovatech water block.
But I went for extreme quiet and 3 nexus fans in PA120.3 all at 780 to 800RPM and DDC 3.1 pump (fewer decibles probably lower flow).
My temps on same voltage in coretemp .95.4 with orthos blend are 67-68. Your setup is 18-19C cooler than mine at load. I have lapped my cpu, and used mx1 and mx2 and on ~10 different applications of TIM on cpu, pretty much have gotten the same temp within a couple degrees.
Your pump probably has better flow in this nonrestrictive system, and my ambients are 4-5C higher, just wanted to know your fans/speed, and how much higher they are?
In retrospect I wish I had gotten a faster fan and undervolted to 800 rpm (which would have allowed a little more headroom to increase speed). Hell, I cant hear 800rpm at all from the 2 feet distance my ear is from computer, so I have plenty of headroom before it is even audible, let alone bothersome noise.
I have same watercooling setup as Rabor, but with 3 x Scythe Flex fans at 800rpm... I get temps of 52-54°C at 3.8Ghz with 1.43 volts, though I got a B stepping of the 6850...
Also note that the 8800GTS doesn't put out so much heat as the Ultra (calculate a few degrees there), my GTX idles at around 32°C, now testing the Q6600 GO and the vidcard idles at 36°C...
Also you use the innovatech block, isn't that more restrictive in comparison to EK ones ?

Thanks for the info, my 8800ultra idles at 47C so that may be part of the problem, innvotech may be more restrictive I dunno. Probably combination of my ambient temps 24-25C, 8800ultra at 47C, and ddc 3.1 lower flow. maybe extra fan speed wouldnt help that much. Any idea if extra 150 rpms means much or would it even be worth trying?
I use 3x Papst 4412 F/2M via fancontroller. On lowest (= 5,5V) they are barely audible & produce optimal airflow for the PA. But they are somewhat of an overkill, because on highest/12V they move 140m³/h (82,35cfm) a piece & then they are quite a bit louder.. (2400rpm/38dB), but still usefull for running benches or gaming w headset..
Plus my PA120.3 is also outside (on top of-) the case & my GTS dumps a lot less heat in my loop than your Ultra does (GTS idles @ 27C & load max 43C..)
Anyway did some runs with my L723A943 @ 1,584V in BIOS..:

(4320MHz - 9x 480)
Some very good clocks there. Very nice Mk33, I hope i can get somewhere close to that. Currently had mine prime 3 hours at 3.4Ghz with 1.296v. hoping for 4Ghz on air.
My chip is L724A946 08/27/07
EDIT: Nah, as usual i got yet another chip that is starting to be utter crap. Did fine to 3.4Ghz with 1.296v and now failed prime at 3.5Ghz with 1.296,1.312 and now 1.328v. Getting worse and worse. Wasting time expecting to get decent chips by relying on luck. This will have to join the ever increasing pile of poor clocking things I have. As usual, have to rely on paying golden prices for good chips off others cause luck is never going to be on my side : *sigh* whinge whine.
EDIT EDIT: 3.5Ghz takes 1.344v to make stable, 3.4Ghz took 1.296v!!! WTF! :(. Had fun running 3-3.4Ghz but the chip now just plain sucks. Pushing towards 3.7Ghz and cannot get stable even with 1.440v (1.5v in bios). Looking at having not only the some of the worst clocking Q6600g0's (have two of them) but also pretty much "THE" worst clocking E6850 on this thread. All have stupid high VIDs (1.35v on this chip), and all showing signs it really does effect it. Looks like i really do have to give up relying on luck and from now on just buy off others as im never going to get a break here. Perhaps its the Asus P5B deluxe holding me back a bit. Boohoo :*(. /me off to cry

With my high ambient of 25C, and my ultra in my loop (found out it increases load temps 6-7C by temporarily unplugging power and using old video card), I think this is going to be my best for 24/7. Though did manage to decrease load temps permanently by 3-4C by adding push fans to my PA120.3 (nexus pull fans already maxed at 740-820 RPM, dang nexus fans with incorrect specs were supposed to be 1000rpms)

Yes 1.41 most certainly reports the actual (and correct) voltage :)
I gotta say, 4ghz with <1.4 vcore is very impressive :slobber:
PS M3kk what stepping is that? and what waterblock or did I read over it...
so im guessing its a vdroop problem for me then?
http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...puzproblem.jpg
CPU-Z and UGuru reports about the same until i open a tab for the uguru, which then shows what i set on bios, which is 1.585 instead of the 1.55 being reported
lazy, yet is is real. And yes, for you is a drop problem :). 1.55 is the ~real voltage.
Garrett, stepping G0, but you want to know the fpo :D L720A745 , and Nexxxos XP block.
Well I have a nexxxos xp block too, and a 9w laing pump complete with a pa120.3 with 6 fans push/pull but I'll never manage 40c stressed... more like 50c lol... unless it's very cold in your room lol...
I have the G0 too, L720A696 IIRC... did you lap your cpu or what :D
again: impressive job :)
:D Pick up a good chip..........:

That screen is bull... :D
I can tun 3dmark06 cputest at 4000 mhz with 1.35v :D.
There's 3 reasons to this:
1) your pumping power is girly, get the DCC+
2) lap your cpu, don't bother trying to take off the IHS in a frying pan (lol)
3) M3kk is wearing 3 coats due to freezing ambiant temps, or is he? :D
Btw, Garrett, mines goes up to 48C load and it's a B2 on a PA 120.2 with 1.408V.
Nope :D.
The ambient temp was 15-20 oC, but near 20 :).
I have an Eheim 1046 pump ( 300 L/h :D, but 1.2M lift up and dead silent :P ), in the loop i have the VGA ( 7900GT @ 1.55v ), one unused chipset block, the nexxxos XP platinum block and the nexxxos extreme III radiator, with 2 coolers :).
and a low VID chip too ;)
1.2750v :)
Ah well tonight I'm gonna pick up the DDC+ pump and prepare my build further, in another PC71 :)
PS M3kk did you or did you not lap that cpu?
Nope, its out of box, without lapping and stuff.

I've got such a crap chip here...
3.8GHz requires 1.63v and is only stable with Folding or OCCT for about 2 hours.I can run OCCT CPU test and Prime Small FFTs stable with 3600GHz and 1.42v, but even 50MHz higher and 1.55v is still too low for it to cope... :(

CoreTemp read VID = 1.350v

Anyone got any advice? Could it be a REALLY bad IHS, which is why the heat/temps suffer so badly when I go above 3.6GHz? Or just a crummy chip?
Finally got E6850 stable at 4GHZ for 24/7 use. With ~7C lower temps, 5C lower from changing case/rad fans to 1200 rpm yates from 900-1000 rpm nexus (really didnt notice any noise diff), and 2C lower room temps (winter), I can now get orthos stable for 24/7 use. Before had reboot issues after a few hours of orthos when coretemp reached ~75-76C. Now coretemp max is 68C.
1.5V bios, 1.488 real (F7b bios), mch, FSB, and PCIE all at +.1V, and PCIE at 105 mhz, and no PCIE problems.

I could bench at 8x500 back when I got the chip, but had the same ?overheat reboot issue (as 9x445) after couple hours of orthos and also pcie issue kicking to 1x. When Nehalem gets close, which means new mobo, may try to get it orthos stable 8x500 and use 24/7 just for learning.
What I would like is better RAM, I have to use 1:1, my corsair does up to ~460 at 4,4,4 12, but wont do much over its rated speed 533 and be stable, regardless of timings, subtimings and voltage up to 2.3. Maybe should have gotten crucial pc 8500 or higher rated since ddr2 is so cheap. But back when I got my ram, I was not even overclocking cpu's, so did not know the tinkering was going to be addicting to the point of spilling into memory.
Regarding Bios F7b, I did not see any difference in overclocking between F7b, F6, F5 or F4. F7b what you set in voltage is closer to what you see in CPUZ, so they adjusted the voltage, but overclocking and Vdroop (~0.008v) was same for my mobo+E6850 on all.
Ok. Thanks for your response.

Just out of curiosity, I took my computer to the garage and opened the doors (5 C outside). Set mch, fsb, pcie all to +.3, and vcore 1.57, and changed ram timings to 5, 5, 5, 18. Just tried 3 runs at those settings.

9x490 booted fine, then froze half way through superpi.
4365 9x485 seemed perfectly stable for benchmarking, ran superpi several times, did not bother with orthos, no doubt it would fail.
