I just got my P5W Dh Deluxe and E6600.
My problem is I am runing 4 SATA HD drives and no raid.
As I see there is only 3 sata connections + the raid's.
I would like to use my 4 drives with no raid any way of doing this ??

You probably missed the 4th SATA port - the solo standing JMicron SATA connector right next to the I/O area of the mobo.

I took that plastic off the first day I got them. That plastic doesn't get in the way anyway because those metal plates are hardly connected to the main heatsinks at all so don't pick up much heat. It's much better to just remove the metal covers completely...
Just take the covers off all together, nothing but double sided tape holding them on. All they do is stop the air flow, stupid design.Quote:

Try using 2 instances of newest prime version then make torture test-> custom-> klick "run FFTs in place" . For me Orthos was stable but this crashes after a min. So give it a try. You can run 2 instances by by using commandline parameters -> ...prime95.exe -aX . X=1 CPUCore 1 and X=2 CPUCore 2

Im having the same problem at the same place. mines hitting wall @ 414fsb with my oem e6700. Ive found if i set the memory settings to spd with 1:1 I can boot in and pass 32m super pi and dual primes @ 424mhz but my memory defaults to 5-6-6-12 :rolleyes: havent had as much time as Id like to play with it though. this weekend im going to play around with memset some more and see if i cant get any higher.Quote:

I have a booting related problem with my P5W DH Deluxe:
First my systemspecs:
I use 2 SATA2 drives on the ICH7R in RAID0.
I use 4 SATA drives on my Promise FastTrak S150 SX4 in RAID5.
The problem is that when I enable the SATA bootrom for the ICH7R the system doesn't want to boot from a bootcd / bootdisk, it just hangs. When I disconnect the FastTrak the problem is solved and also when I leave in the FastTrak and disable the ICH7R bootrom it is solved, but I want to boot from ICH7R, because I'm installing windows on RAID0 (ICH7R). I've flashed the newest (1101) bios, but I can't get the ICH7R (with bootrom) and the FastTrak to work together. And the funny thing is that something like Memtest will boot and works fine, but my normal bootcd with Partition Magic 8 won't boot and neither will XP SP2 bootcd.
I used the same setup on my previous machine (P4 2.8 @ Abit IC7-G) without any problems. I have the newest BIOS in my FastTrak.
Does anybody has a clue on how to solve this??
I was getting that problem as well.
With 3 disks on the ICH7R in Raid 0 it would hang at boot shed loads of times.
I unplugged the disks...wam bam straight into bios no probs.
I think this board sucks to be honest. My bios update has gone bang so im taking the board back tomorrow to change it for something else.
You could request a new BIOS chip. I don't think this board is bad, just not as easy going as some.Quote:

Perhaps its just me, but is anyone else having issues with the OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum Edition RAM and this motherboard? I'm thinking this might be responsible for some of the odd problems I'm having despite an otherwise stable overclock.

No, i did small ffts for stressing cpu as intended by Orthos. But if everything is stable it should be no problem to run it. Ram and Board coudn`t be the prob here since i checked it running 410 FSB 1:1 with lower multi and got no problems after all. CPU test was with under 400 FSB.Quote:

Had some problems with PCI-E lanes when only running 1 nvidia gfx card...sometimes it would only be at 1X or 8X speed..8X wont make a difference in my case, but set slot power to heavier instead of auto...now its working fine, and my boot times are far faster!..dont know why.
wow guys, I`m a little shocked to see these bad results in combination with a e6600 and this board. I thought the asus did 9 x 450 out of the box with retail e6600 but I gues I`m very wrong :eek:
I have a ds3 with a retail e6600 doing 9 x 400 cas 4-4-4 and thought this was bad ( me want 8 x 500 ) and was thinking to upgrade to a biostar tforce or this board, seems to me 8 x 500 or even 9 x 450 is not reasonable for a retail conroe e6600 and air ?? .... :rolleyes:

no, because it`s already in my comp , yes all on air and afcourse bootable and benchible but wtf, 9 x 400 is not an OC !, 10 x 500 is , that`s an overclock :stick: , if you want the info check the ds3 topics where I posted.
It's also located on the retail box. Considering you got 1200 extra MHz, I think that's an impressive air OC :P

problem solved with the e6600. MCH needs almost 2 V for 500 mhz :p: . That afcourse in combination with a few minor bios updates.....

Ahh ok so Virtulization Technology really only helps if you are running some VM hosts on your PC. Like VMware and Microsoft Virtual machine software, otherwise its useless.

Also just to point out about your settings. If you set the PCIX Preq to 115 like yours is AND you are using the onboard Nic then it will fail. Just changed a couple of settings to like yours Inc the PCIX Freq and when windows loaded i had nio NIC. Changed it back and it works now. Must be somthing to do with the Onboard NIC using the PCIX bus.

Hmm I didnt like the 1101 beta bios at all; very unstable. Is the 1101 official different? There is definitely a wall at 390-400 fsb but if you take out one stick of ram you can actually do 415 fsb; benchable 1M Super Pi

I really hope they unlock the Multi in this bios that and fix the stability problems. Im expecting my local dealer to get some X6800s and Bad axes in soon. Might jump ship and try that combo unless Asus fix this baord.
what really peeves me off is that ASUS have given the p5b-dlx an awesome bios with lots of memory timing options and multi adjustment.
The p5wdh is more expensive than the p5b-deluxe yet we get a crappy unstable bios.
I know thats another ghey part. I guess coming from an FX cpu I've been spoiled. But they should let you lower the multiply atleast so I can try that magical "7" on the DS3 board people are having. I know you can lower it in windows but it doesnt seem like the best approach.

What's the highest FSB anyone can get to with this board, I dropped the multi in windows using CrystalCPUID and the highest I could get is 441 - anything above just freezes. Voltages didn't seem to make a difference. All on air ;)
I just read through Tony's post and I kinda get it a little bit. From what he's saying we are limiting around 400fsb is because of the NB chipset. When you raise the cpu fsb 400+ the chipset is maxing out and cause instability. I guess unless Asus give us an option to lock the chipset at 1066 strap; it's near impossible to overcome that 400 barrier.

On the E6600's - it IS the chip holding us back NOT the mobos. I had a DS3 before my P5W DH and I was hitting the EXACT same wall with the DS3 as I am with the P5W. It's gotta be the extra cache. Hardly any of the 4mb chips are doing better than 1GHz OC on air without skyrocketing the VCore.Quote:
