That is a real nice idea, Dunno how you guys call it over there, but its for heat dissipation isn't it?
How are the results?

It's for bling :)
Seriously who like that pcb green? Hmm I need some black acrylic
Conductivity :p:
but it won't touch it metal to metal. i have used doublesided 3M tape to put it on those screws
Hey, it's overrated. :p:
A layer of acrylic underneath it (or something) would solve the problem. I'm a bit scared about just using tape after I fried a card by dropping an LED light on it which I thought had a plastic casing. Turned out it was some cheap metal.

I got my HD4870 a few days ago.

I also got 2 more Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000rpm fans, I added one onto my IFX-14 and the other is blowing on my RAM :D
Hey how is that cooler on your Gainward 4870?
Hey fatguy1992, looks sweet.
How loud is your PC with those 3 Kaze's? I'm running 1 and it sounds like a jet engine...
I'm assuming you have the 3,000s, right?
how's that xigmatek fan? i like and i was thinking of ordering some, but i dont know if they perform well. Nice rig BTW
I have a coolit ram cooler and it works GREAT, when i touched my tracers when it wasnt installed i burnt myself, now they are a lot cooler. Looks a lot better than the OCZ one to me, i modded it with red leds :)

sorry for the bad cabling, i have too many fans (12) and not enough time!
OdinEidolon, are those Xilence fans any good? I was looking those to my HTPC cuz those are so cheap and looks good..
thx, thats good to know.. maybe i just buy few scythe s-flex fan..
Works well. It was the fan that came with the xigamtek cooler and just decided to put a stronger fan on it instead so moved the xigmatek as exhaust. It pushes a ton of air and is quiet, but that could be due to the stronger fan on the heatsink pushing more air.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...2/IMG_4656.jpg
All stock! The big hunk of cardboard in the middle is an air duct from the intake fan over the passively cooled chipset. That thing got burning hot under load. Piece of cardboard over the video card is a cold air intake :p:
Cable management isn't to horrid for a P180, wish I could do something about the ATX cable though. About the motherboard, it is ECS, I didn't pay for it, I got it for free. Works for me and hasn't given me a problem.
Wow hahahhaha
Re-defining GHETTO MOD !
I did worse than that in the past, wish I had pics :D
Well if cardboard works, then why not. I'd get one of those fan kit things that mount to the PCI slots and let you put a fan wherever you want.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_2090.jpg
That would involve money, I am much to cheap for a $4.99 bracket and a $2.99 fan:p:
And you're housing it in a P180? Did you get that for free too? :p:
Fair enough.
more ghetto mods :)

Is that a shroud off a ATI card and a Intel OEM cooler? Pretty slick
BossBorot, is that thing cooling ram? if it is, you should buy ocz xtc ram cooler..
Over priced, ugly, and loud. I regret purchasing one  It now sits in a box somewhere. After a few weeks one fan started scratching the casing or something and made a rather annoying noise. The fans didn't push much air either and weren't exactly silent. A yate @ 5v ghetto mounted is cheaper and more effective.
what about corsair ram cooler? and ocz ram cooler is not over priced, 15€ in finland.
I'm not using mine either. I like my 92MM UV green fan better :)
I had OCZ XTX Cooler and I was suprised from the noise of two 60mm fans...It had 3700rpm,official specification is 3000rpm...it is very loud cooler:(
I didnt have to do anything to get it to stay. It is held perfectly in place as if it was made to do this.
If you look at the 4870 cooler, which this came from, it gets smaller at the end and just so happens to change size just as it hits the northbridge. It also hits the 24 pin power connector on the other side. These two connection points keep it firmly in place. I can shake my computer and even turn it upside down and it stays in place.
Edit: after looking at it more it also hits one of the bolts on my bolt through kit and one of the push pins on the northbridge to help keep it in place. Also it cant sit any lower then it is in the pic due to the height of the ram itself, which hits the top of the cooler.
here is another pic. It sits low enough to minimize airflow loss due to air escaping from the sides.
http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/6595/dscn1806as4.jpg
It keeps my naked ballistix nice and cold at 2.3 volts
and a pic of the computer zoomed out
http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/262/dscn1812ib3.jpg
Actually, since my machine is on top of the desk I am very "sensible" to the sound, and bought the OCZ afraid of the noise it would make as I had already heard a lot about it and found it not noisy at all, its inside my closed P182 so maybe the noise is dampened, but cant say I find it noisy at all and I am real "picky" as to what "noise" is.
Behave!
I was thinking to buy xtc ram cooler, but if it that noisy, I dont buy it.. I need some quiet ram cooler for my fb-dimms, cuz those run very HOT.
Just set them to 5 volts like I did
is there any aftermarket cooler for 7950gx2? runs pretty hot :/
There's usually never any aftermarket cooler for anything with a X2 in it, unless you wanna watercool, you're outta luck
I just say: there only six fans, look at the mirror. The Scythe Musashi will be released at the first week of october in Germany. What's about the rest of europe i can't tell anything, sorry. The performance ist great! The first test can u read in the Hardwareluxx [printed] magazine (german mag). ;)

I dont like that armor case, too much plastic.. Lian Li 4 ever! :D
I like this case, is nice. but i prefere Antec 12 hundred ;)
Btw, nice forum :)
Nice mod with the case, it does look better now.
My system at the moment. Cables are messy, I'm going to fix that.
My CPU cooler (Scythe Mugen/Infinity) is barely compatible with my motherboard. See pics for clearance :D
By the way sorry for overlighting, pics were made with a 5MP Nokia N95, it has a way too bright flash.

Can you still buy those original HR-05 SLI heatsinks>? I prefer them over the IFX flames style.
In germany you can, don't know how it is in other parts of the world. http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a309191.html
But my HR is very old. ;)
Nice pics. I'm not too into the flame style either. To me it just looks like lost surface area where metal could be, especially with the IFX-14.
keep it coming people :D
Lets just get back to pictures.
It doesnt matter about money, Different people have different priorities

My first customized PC. I used to use a Dell desktop.
Some pics before some wire management.

After a few tweaks. not sure if I can do better without drilling holes on the board. Lian-li PC-G7 really is not a good case for wire management. I would pick A16 if I could have started over.

I am expecting my Thermalright HR-07 H. Time to void the G. Skill warranty.
I have thought about building a thermalright city but I cannot come up with a good way to deal with the mosfet part of my Abit IP35 pro.
I only play CounterStrike and WOW so currently dont have a plan for a fancy video card.
Thanks for your time

Good old Corsair.
BTW: sry for bad images. :(
CABLE TIE GUY, are any of those fans undervolted or on a fan controller? That must get pretty noisy if not. You should get rid of the blue sticker on the front of the RAM cooler, it looks so much better without it.
