You lucky u using vista then...
Well, not so good. I can't get it stable even @ stock settings. I left everything on Auto except vDIMM and timings with 0801 BIOS and can't pass prime. Two cores fail in the first hour itself. I hate this replacement board. I was happily running 445 FSb with my previous S2E before I bricked it. I refuse to OC without having a stable system @ stock settings. I guess I will have to go back to one of the previous BIOS(0704 maybe, 0603 was what I had with my previous board) and try.
Here are the numbers for the same two drives that I posted earlier, for the NVidia Raid. The transfer rate is about 30% slower, and the burst speed is less than a half of the Adaptec Raid setup. It is also noticeable how much more consistent the speed is on the Adaptec,: the NVidia ranges from less than 100MB/s to over 220MB/s, whereas the Adaptec is pretty much between 180MB/s and 250MB/s.
Just wanted to know.
Is anyone else getting issues with SLI + a TV card? I just want to know before i start asking about the actual tv card and SLI being the problem, seeing as theres so many problems with this motherboard, its a good thing to rule out first.
It just keeps jumping...but it works fine with one card.
Edit: Turned Aero off, and now its working ok again, even with SLI. Odd, but good, thats easier to turn off then SLI.
I never liked 0801, Im still on 0704. Give it a try
Thats a huge difference. I cant imagine the day you upgrade to SSDs.
wtf is this all about with all expansion cards sharing the same IRQ? Didnt nvidia learn this from 680i?
Hi Guys,
New to the forums. But not new to building and OCing rigs.
My SIIE is on the UPS truck and headed to me now. I'm hoping I'll be one of the guys giving help here rather than needing it.
I do intend to immediately replace the thermal interface on the chipset and mosfet heatsinks with AS Ceramique. I've only done that once before so any tips would be appreciated. In this particular board's case would I want to use a bit more than I usually use on a CPU just to ensure good contact or do the heatsinks already sit well on the NB and SB (etc.)?
slim, I've been reading your posts on various forums. . . and I'm pulling for you! Though, honestly, I'd redirect my attention fully to that inability to install ethernet drivers. If that persists even after an OS wipe, I think you're looking at a hardware fault. :(
Well, about the heatsink. I recommend you leave the motherboard on that skinny plastic thing that it comes in and then you proced. This will help you out A LOT when you remove the screws since as you know, there are heatsinks at the bottom of the board and you need to make sure the screws get in place with them, leaving the board on the plastic thing makes this heatsinks stay in place so when you put the big heatsinks back in place, all you need to do is put it on top and screw it back, no messing with the heatsinks on the backside of the board.
About the CPU, just make sure you follow the AS5 guide on artic silvers website.
And finally, yes, I dont know why this board would do this to me. Is not that I cant use the internet at all, but having to buy another ethernet adaptor just because this thing woulnt install, is really annoying. Well, I guess I didnt get the perfect board after all
Found this guide specifically for the Striker (though perhaps not the II Extreme) on the Asus forums (with some replies from Slim). That seems like a *lot* of thermal paste in those screenshots. But the results are good so I guess I shouldn't question. Though any feedback regarding the amount of paste would still be appreciated. I'll keep googling.
(I've added my sig with my current system. Though that will hopefully be changing this weekend)
Slim142 STOP BEING PATHETIC !! AND RMA YOUR BOARD !!!
I have told you three times now to do this but you just won't do it do you?
You are like those old people that are always complain over there deseases and pain, just to get attention, and never seeing the doctor.

There are enough users with a SIIE that run SLI like a charm, so seems like your board is faulty, learn to live with it or RMA the damn thing.
But please stop asking and thinking and trying , and DO something !
Hope I shaked you awake now :)
Humm that's troubling for sure. I would try alternating the BIOS setting for Plug & Play OS and see if having the Bios assign the IRQ vs the OS assigning it helps. This solved my networking issues of randomly waking up from sleep with network teaming enabled. I had to deleted all drivers..remove hardware from device manager, reboot with plug and play OS no before I could reinstall the networking drivers properly.
Also...I thought I saw another poster in this thread who was using a RAID controller card on the 790i in his sig...I'll have a look through the sigs and see if I can ID him, maybe he could help.
just a polite warning, lets act like friends here and be nice to one another.
Thanks for reading guys.
I used around that much (a bit less) just enough to cover the chip.
First, I really feel sorry for you because you dont seem to understand what the problem here is, the problem is not that Im trying to catch attention, the problem here are 3 words, SLI FREEZING ISSUES. Why I dont RMA my board? Because I dont want to live the same story Tekjunkie is living now? HELL NO!, my system is STABLE (Proved with pictures, go back and check) I can live with this and I have 3 years in which I can RMA the board anytime. Im 100% SURE THIS IS BIOS (SOFTWARE) RELATED AND NOT MAINBOARD PROBLEM.
I came here to solve and discuss problems. Is not my problem that you feel uncomfortable with what I post because so far it hasnt annoyed anybody. Could you please tell me in what ways does it bother you? Do you have a estable system? Then good for you, live it with and enjoy it, if you dont give a dam about others issues, thats fine, but if you are going to post something, make it worth it.
Show me SIIE users using XP (OS that receives less drivers updates now)with SLI that are not having issues. Show me "enough" users to feel motivated enough to RMA my board now AND I WILL DO IT RIGHT NOW.
Just to let you know, IM NOT THE ONLY ONE I DONT KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE SAID THIS THAT DONT HAVE SLI ESTABLE.
Here, take your time, dont rush

Was that enough? Or do you want me to google other forums around the world to see how many more people experience this?
Prove to me that this is Slim142-Only related and explain to me how I can play games with SLI, but not watch movies and I'LL MAKE YOU MILLIONAIRE.
BTW, please stop with those silly and pathetic posts, no need for that useless stuff that are just off topic. You just won the trophy for been the most useless and ridiculous person in the thread with such attitude/behavior.
The way I see it, slim's problem, hopefully which will get resolved, might just end up helping alot of others. These forums are a huge help for a lot of people so don't complain. This is my very first puter build and without these forums I would be lost. I'd rather thank slim than slam him. Every bit of information gained is progress no matter what.
Slim I'm really hoping as much as you that we can raise our hands up in celebration when the lot of us figure out how to tame this beast, no doubt there is potential here regardless of the issues.
Cheers.
Tried with Plug & Play enabled, no change. I am getting the same flashing even with a Asus Sonar soundcard in the PCI-E x1 slot, so it seems to be a PCI-E error!!!
My thoughts exactly buddy.
Though i think the next time NV comes out of the market stable, guns blazing about how good their next chipset is, alot more people are going to think twice before laying down the cash - memories of the sheer collective number of hours spent on this board won't fade quick!
