I was using the 0601 but now my turn signals in my truck stopped working so I went back to the 0502.
I updated to 0601 yesterday. So, far no problems. Memtest/Prime95 NO errors.
P5E, Q6600, AxeRAM 1066 (4x1GB) @ 1066 1.88V 5-5-5-15, Driving strength strong, Transaction Booster enabled:0 - All stock settings.
Which one is better?
Asus P5E64 WS Pro
ore
asus P5E3 WS Pro
My E8400 was stable 4GHz (500x8)with 1.35v bios on my Gigabyte ds3p, 601 bios on this board , I cant get it stable on my p5e with 1.45v bios.
I know someone who has a P5E Standard (DDR2) and their BIOS also has the "Memory Remap" function :)
Now, does anyone know if the new 0601 BIOS is compatible with "Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4" RAM?
Apparently any BIOS after 0201 "breaks" support for this RAM (rather like BIOS 0808 breaking support for Patriot DDR3 on the P5E3)

0601 BIOS has given me a slightly better overclock, or maybe my chip just needed burning in
Ppl, it's maybe a shame but i'm for the first time on a Asus board !
I got mine Asus P5E 2 days now, got my Q6600 on 1.42Vcore stable on 4Ghz. All the other voltage options i picked auto.
But my question is, how can i get 475 x 9 stable on this board. I mean, i went from a P35-DQ6 with little but usefull settings to a P5E with MUCH settings. Dunno what is what for...
Vdroop/Vdrop mod for Asus P5E works great.
First:
BIOS = 1.537 V
IDLE = 1.472 V
LOAD = 1.432 V
After:
BIOS = 1.537 V
IDLE = 1.520 V
LOAD = 1.528 V
I'm happy, no I can run my Q6600 on 4Ghz with only 1.42V under load.
But still my question, how can I reach 475Mhz on this board ?
Would you be able to PM me your bios settings that your using? I posted a list of them a few pages back. Would be much appricated. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=889
Is this the pencil mod from the pic a few pages back? I got a improvment but I don't think that good. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=870
My new cpu clocks better in my DS3P so I may put the quad back on this P5E, but I had a terribal time with the bios on it (running 601 currently)
Due to the FSB limitation of the Quads you might not get 475FSB with 1, on my other board I couldn't get above 465FSB with mine.
Does the Loadline Calibration/Voltage Damper setting work to at least a certain extent with the latest BIOS? Seems like everyone here is doing a Vdroop mod...
As you can see, i've got everything almost on AUTO, and that is the only way to get till 445 FSB. I booted once on 465MHz with everything AUTO and ran a SuperPi 1M bench and stable. After that he does boot only till 4.2Ghz everything the same in BIOS but Vcore changed, but when he wants to go in Vista he hangs... That's why i need a program to read out the valeu's he gives himself now for 4Ghz...Code:Ai Clock Tuner : Manual
CPU Ratio Setting : 9.00
FSB Frequency : 445
FSB Strap to Northbridge : 400Mhz
PCI-E Frequency : 110
Dram Static Read Control : AUTO
Ai Clock Twister : AUTO
Transaction Booster : AUTO
Vcore Voltage : 1.43750 V (Idle = 1.4160, Stressed = 1.4240)
CPU PLL Voltage : AUTO
FSB Termination Voltage : AUTO
Dram Voltage : 2.34
Northbridge Voltage : AUTO
Southbridge Voltage : AUTO
Load Line Calibration : Enabled
CPU GTL Reference : AUTO
NB GTL Reference : AUTO
SB 1.5v Voltage : AUTO
CPU Spread Spectrum : Disabled
PCIE Spread Spectrum : Disabled
Even Asus PC Probe2 gives only VCore, VDimm and 3-5-12V lines :mad: ...
And like i said here, i come from a P35-DQ6, so i don't know what the heck is CPU GTL Reference, NB GTL Reference and stuff...
That's why, when i can read out the voltages he puts himself now, i maybe can get higher...
EDIT:
And yes i did the pencil mod that Cranox showed.
@ TWY, dunno but here it doesnt make any difference if it is turned on or off, with every bios i tested...
For now, 601 works the best, everything between 207 and 502 is bad ...
Ty Prodigys for that information. I also came from Gigabyte also so this board all the settings your not understanding I'm in the same boat :)
Someone on another site posted for me
I left out what is AUTOQuote:
Ai Clock Tuner : Manual
CPU Ratio Setting : 9.00
FSB Frequency : 446
FSB Strap to Northbridge : Auto
Vcore Voltage : 1.35625
FSB Termination Voltage : 1.42
Northbridge Voltage : 1.43
Southbridge Voltage : 1.2
That pretty much worked for me.
Going from that I'm testing this atm.
Seems ok so far.Quote:
Ai Clock Tuner : Manual
CPU Ratio Setting : 9.00
FSB Frequency : 456
FSB Strap to Northbridge : AUTO
PCI-E Frequency : 101
Dram Static Read Control : Disabled

Transaction Booster : Disabled
Relax Level : 0
Vcore Voltage : 1.37500
CPU PLL Voltage : AUTO
FSB Termination Voltage : 1.42
Northbridge Voltage : 1.55
Southbridge Voltage : 1.2
Load Line Calibration : Enabled
Is this bios beta?
On Thursday 1/31/2008 , I called Asus on many issues 1.VDROOP /2.RAM VOLTS /3.NO 500Mhz is you have RAM of PC1000 or higher /4.Bios 0601 if you use your ON-OFF switch on your Computer in Windows XP your Computer will Reboot ,Issue with 0501 and 0502 Bios your Computer will lock up and Video Card will Squeal.There Brian his name told me yes Asus is knownledge of all sorts of calls and emails on this board P5E.he will email me on 2/4/2008 with a proper fix .With a answer,sad news it could be intels fault bad northebrige chipset.maybe just Asus trying to blame others we'll see my board is only 10days old i still have 20 more days for a full refund....
look here is some boards bad great reviews where I purchesed my board

I've installed 601 bios and got rid of the hang on restart problem with my 8400.
Apart from that everything as before with 502.
Yep 601 rocks!
May I ask if the memory handling is fixed in the new BIOS? 400FSB @ 1:1 @ performance level 6?
My memories weren't fully supported in the BIOSes, so that I'm still using 0107.
Just watercooled my P5e and 6600 quad...could'nt be happier with my G-skill.
