@ViVID,
I havenīt made it over FSB 500 MHZ.
500 MHz seem to be the limit for this board running a quad anyway. If you want to try it any further the vnb should be the key. I didnīt feel like firing more than 1.45V to my nb.

My Quad Stable In 505 Mhz FSB With 1.6Volt Vcore:D And Vnb=1.52V
I Try To Change Board With Giga P45 Soon
I Hope This Board(Giga) Work Great For Me :)

Picked up a q9650 this morning. A newer batch, it is a C chip. Looks like my usual luck with bad sensors at idle.
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/6510/vidl.png http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/vidl.png/1/w724.png
Thanks Sergio. I should do the break in period but I am impatient. Priming now at 4ghz. :yepp:.
Temps under load even out within 3c of each other so I think it is just the idle bug.

I change my screens as my drivers where corrupted and was scoring lower than the real thing...i also lower CPU speed as you napalm, my core don't go over 783, but i tested on my 100% OC clocks that I play all games and are this:
Windows XP32 SP3 - NVIDIA beta 190.38
Q9650 @ 4608 - GTX285 771/1800/3024
Unigine Sanctuary v2.2 defaults fullscreen

Cheers
Sergio
I just picked up a 9650 batch#L847C037. 1.175VID. Testing now.

Nice run Sergio!
You Guys Realy Cool :D
Thread Not Rest For 1Hour :D
Ur Benching Is Too Fast And Great Work I Hope Be Happy Like This In Real Life :)
I Changed My Q9550 With Better Batch I See Simillar Bath Number Like My New CPU 4.4 Stable In 1.42 :) I Wish It Work For Me
Testing some more Prime blend with the new CPU.

Nice bump in score Sergio. You and Napalm are very close.
thanks :toast:
great vid @ c q9650
how does it compare to b q9650 ?
same temp ? hotter/cooler ?
lower your shaders/mem.. look at my 2gb 285.. 200 less mem clocks.. almost 200 less shaders clocks.. but at 770 core im just 1 fps behind you
first lower shaders @ 1764/1728 and if it doesnt allow higher core than lower mem clocks @ 1447/1404
you should be able to match my 220.0 fps
:toast:
Runs a bit warmer than my other chip but so far oc's better on less vcore. For 4.25ghz I needed 1.328v on my old chip, this needs 1.280v for the same clocks. Hope to reach 4.5ghz stable.
Ran Sanctuary 1920x1080 8Xaa 16Xaf. Had to back my core clocks down to not artifact. Hard test to run at hi res/hi settings.
http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/2...f1920x1080.png
Ran Sanctuary default full screen with my stable 24/7 clocks:
CPU: 4.2GHz
GPU: 817/950
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g3...B/73019300.jpg
I'm gonna try and push the clocks some more later. :yepp:
Nice score!!
I like this program. It seems to be a better bench for gfx than 3dmark. Increasing CPU speed doesn't effect the score much at all.
@ViViD,
I hope you show us your oc results.
P.S. I like your president:up:
This C batch seems to be pretty good so far. Sensors are off a bit but that's nothing new. Will keep trying for 4.5ghz stable.

@OC Nub,
how much voltage do you set on the nb?
Thank you for the info.:)
My goal is a fsb of 500 Mhz by using the 333/800 strap (=4:5 divider) to get my G.Skills at least on default (=600 MHz=DDR 1,200 MHz).
Before this DFI I had a ASUS board with a X48 chipset. A X 48 isnīt really made for quads. For a fsb of >460 MHz using a quad you had to fire more than 1.5v to the nb:shocked:. Thatīs to much English for a 24/7 setting.
The P45 chipset doesnīt need so much vnb.
However about 1.45v should be right. I will try in the next days.
Nice chip OC Nub, especially coming out of these newer batches.
Thanks Hoss. Was shocked when I saw the vid.
Yeah OC Nub the chip is very nice, much better than my C chip. :yepp: What have been your highest load temps so far, and is this air cooled or H20?
With my silent red wing fans push/pull, max temp has been 69C at 1.368v.
@OC Nub,
you told us in you last post that you set ~1.44v to the nb to get a fsb of 480 MHz stable.
How hot gets your nb under load?
Do you cool the nb by air or Hē0?
This board doesn't have a sensor for the NB. I use a 120mm fan to help cool it. only reason it needs 1.44v MCH because of the 4:5 divider, at 1:1 it takes 1.36v MCH for 500fsb.
Theres a program called MCHTemp that will show you nb temp once it gets about 50c and above. Its in russian and it doesnt have signed drivers so you have to F8 boot to use it. It looks like this,
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p.../Untitledv.jpg
I am using an infrared thermometer (TFA Scan Temp 380) for places where I donīt have a sensor.
Thanks Lenny, Highest I have seen at these clocks after 8hrs prime was 64c on 2 cores. My sensors are bugged on 2 cores so IDK how acurate they really are. It is on water cooling. This is my third 8 hour run at this oc, I had changed a couple settings last night and it became unstable so I tested again.
Hoss: Thanks, I will try that MCH program.

These C Q9650s seem to be good chips, some extremely nice with low VIDs, but not for air cooling if ya know what I mean ;)
5010 just got himself a "golden" L847C - it has 1.15 VID, does 4GHz stable on 1.17 and 4.125ghz on 1.19v
Need one
Working on this now, think it will probably need another bump in vcore but finally 6 months and 3 q9650's later I am close to my goal of 4.5ghz. :rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:
http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/1513/44ghz.png
What RAM are you guys all using with this processor?
I'm using 4x 2gb Corsair PC8500 C5's @ 1:1
Machinus: I am using 2x2gb GSkill pc2 8500 at the moment.
Still working on 4.4ghz, looking better.
http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/6164/new44.png
4hours (or close enough) Prime blend 4.4ghz. I took my OCZ LV1.8v ram out and put my GSkill f2-8500CL5D 2.1v kit in. Forgot to set ram voltage back to 2.1v, started Prime up and has been running at this voltage stable. I am running 1:1 so maybe 2.1v is not needed?
Thank you Sergio for your help on MSN, you have been a huge help to me in learning this board and getting settings right to become stable.:up:

Passed blend overnight. :D

Well as i cant prime this beast not even on water at this vcore i decided to left it overnite folding...the giga loves this 4500 /1200 :D

Sergio
Wow Nice Vcore U Guys
I'm Try To Stable With 1.42Volt On 500 FSB
Finnaly Kill DFI :D And Kill Myself Too :))
Thanks Sergio. Great job with your 4500mhz. Its hard to Prime a low VID chip at over 1.4v even with water as you know. I think I have reached my limits also with temps in Prime.
Vivid, I hope you will try the Gigabyte UD3P or UD3R board when you are done with your DFI. I believe you will be able to do much better and possibly with less voltage using the Giga board.
It's a shame that these awesome VID chips have such high temps... I'm getting roughly 65C load on air with 1.368v, and my ambient is warm and my case all closed up, so I may yet aim for 4.35 provided the temps are not too high and the FSB is relatively easy to stabilize :D
Id rather have higher temps than require higher volts, you can always control the temps but not the volts.
ok, maybe a bit off, but when will Q9650 get a "good" price drop? at $320-350 it's still too expensive (considering it's an "old" Core 2 architecture...)
Twin quads Tom lol :D
never primed 10 hours lol first time ever

Nice OC Sergio!
Looks like Windows 7 is some computing platform!
Sergio's 10hr P95 run on Win7 resulted in about 550 tests done on each core. Tom's 14hr P95 run on Vista, however, got about 630 tests done on each core. If we extrapolate Sergio's P95 speed, to get 630 tests done it would only need about 11.5 hours! That's a whopping 2.5 hrs ahead after a half-day racing just by upgrading the OS!
I am very impressed.. Did you tweak something on the Win7, Sergio?
Nope just standard 7600RTM install...
Tom's running 7100RC version mems at PL9 / trfc 68 on 1:1 on other divider and standard profile (correct me Tom if its not like this), also using prime version 25.9 x64
Im runing 7600RTM running PL9 1174Mhz / trfc 52, standard profile on 2.04B divider and using prime version 25.11
Really didnt pay much attention on that...weird i didn't tweak anything its just standard W7 installation of 7600 x64 ultimate
Cheers
