Thank you all for the advice, I wil sort my Vtt and Vnb properly to minimum for 482fsb and revert.

SystemViper - only 1.776 volts on the 45nm quad? On my board you need to pull of the "you are insane" jumper before the board will let you do that.

You must be cooling that thing with a space-laser

Hey peoples, 1.35vCore and 1.72v PLL / 1.44VTT / 1.50vNB is safe to Q9550 + P5Q Dlx ?

P5Q Dlx need's a high voltages for 500 FSB :(

Saying that more than 8hrs of Prime "kills" your hardware is a level of n00batry that I am not even equipped to deal with. The very fact that I and I know many others have failed Prime 95 MANY hours past 8, would say your statement needs some serious re-thought.

I just finished failing a 18 hr run with my voltages lowered. LOL by your logic it's stable 2x over with 2 hrs to spare. But it's not. Don't be a typical retard and disregard what I am saying. Start entering facts into your sentences, instead of just thinking you know the answer.

Hows this for temps? TR Ultra-120a Push/Pull. Funny thing is, I would guarantee my 120a against even a Venomous-x. Hands down no competition. Check those load temps. If anyone would like to see the inside of my case I will gladly oblige.

HEy you bet, the chip was between -42c and -50 c with my SS so it never got hot... But that is what overclocking is all about, it like drag racing, you put 700hp in a small block and hope it don't blow up while you do 9sec quarter miles.

1.72 PLL ? I needed 1.56PLL, 1.37VTT, 1.32NB voltage with my quad at 500FSB (8x 500) and with 2048MB rams at 1200mhz... you need fast rams to get the better out of the P5Q series... if you run in sync ( rams at 1000mhz in your case it could be you need some wicked voltages )

My G.Skill PI 1066 don't stable over 1125MHz @2.12v, run at 1150MHz 5 5 5 18 and 2.2-2.35v i get error on IBT/MemTest...

Whats the max OC to this Memory ?

I am in the same position as 8800's here, my ram is OCZ reaper 1066 (the stuff with the heatpipes and heatsing above it, looks a bit like a prada handbag side on).

This ram is failry crap and cannot do 1200 (barely does 1120 Overclocked).

This means I am stuck on the 1:1 divider on the 333 strap just like 8800's

I have read on this thread and many others that the best OCs on the P5B DLX are to be had with the 333 strap and the 5:6 divider, hence the need for DDR2 1200 to hit 500fsb.

Its not even easy to go out and by 4gb of DDR2 1200 any more. Everybody nowadays is paying over the odds for rubbish latency DDR3 kit.

What annoys me is that there is no reason for this issue with the P5B DLX - why is the 5:6 divider more stable than the 1:1 divider on the same strap - It must be a bug in the asus bios.

On my old DFI P45 board, the 400 strap was more stable for me, but on the P5B DLX I can't get it to post with this strap - wierd since this strap is actually looser on the Northbridge.

Conventional wisdom on P45 and most other FSB-based intel boards dictates that the 1:1 strap is usually the best for stability, since it is both the lowest and least demanding in terms of northbridge activity.

Well I stand to be corrected here but someone must know why the P5B DLX is optimised towards the 5:6 divider????

My only theory is that this is because the motherboard offers DDR2 1200 "out of the box".

I have a chance to get an Q9550 "ES" model EU80569 PJ073N for same price as the (EO) SLB8V version. How well do they overclock to a comfy 4GHz and with how much volts needed compared to EO stepping

It's hard to say how well it will OC, but they usually have an unlocked multi.

you talk about the TRUE EX compared to the VX without having a VX...:rofl:

i switched from a 1st gen of TRUE EX to a VX bout a week ago ...so here you go:
my cpu is of course an E0 just the one Yorkfield with the higher multi - the 9650 which i have been running/tested it anywhere from 3600mhz to 4200mhz and i will tell you this --->
--->the VX does really shine in the higher range:yepp:
if you plan to stay up to 3800mhz with your cpu and you have a TRUE EX thats lapped and is well mounted(washer mount...whateva) you will gain very little to nothing from going to the VX.
the new Venomous Ex really showes its strength in the higher range of whats possible to achieve with an Yorkfield.
by going from my old TRUE EX to the new VX ive gained(less) 5° to 12° degrees dependin on what program/bench im using.

when im not using the pc i always let the abc@home project from the boinc manager to run,in the night etc...
temps went from 67 max on the old TRUE EX to 59 max with the VX.:up:
