Just try the free sample, they also have phase-change tim and thermal interface gap (a sheet which I tested with cold bugged cpu)

use stock settings to warm up the paste, your chiller should indicate temps or it doesnt? no thermometer? pastes usually soften at 40-50c.

another tip he showed me when insulating take a few balls of eraser about the size of pea and hit the backside of the board where the dimms are. There are a few holes you just plug up. They might seem small but that paste and the eraser dimm plug trick changed my life. Also instead of keeping isopropyl around and keep buying just get yourself a huge tank of paint thinner. Chew had it laying around the kitchen and I thought it was a slight fire hazard but he didnt blink an eye. He told me I should have one around for removing conformal spray/insulation and thermal paste.

Seems like a safe way to prime the paste without having the board on and frying the cpu before you actually bench? Good idea or bad idea?

You mean those OCZ SLI-Ready Edition sticks? I have some of these as well, but I received two dead sticks from the seller ( got refunded though :) ), can't tell how they clock unfortunately.

its the ocz 1800c8 on the qvl list for the p5e3, i was suprised that asus still has the qvl for my mobo.
I just had a look in the RAM List, that kit is the only one rated 1800 CL8, if they're D9GTS they should be pretty nice, if they're D9JNL they'd be great 24/7 sticks, but I don't like them for benching. They're only good for high CL8 clocks, which both of my D9GTR kits and the D9JNM kit can't match.
Checked again, there was also a Platinum kit rated 1800 CL8, using Micron chips as well. Probably same sticks, just different SPD and HS.
yeah its the only one on the list, im pretty lucky, it only cost me 40ish bucks. hopefully its not dead lol

What did I tell you. I knew it would come today. I live in NY and its impossible to get packages here because the drivers are paranoid about getting in trouble if they leave it at the door. Next time when that ups driver comes. Tell him you get packages all the time and kindly ask for his or her cell number. I have 1 or 2 regular drivers from ups. so when I get a box from newegg and it says out for delivery I will call the driver ahead of time and tell him to leave it at the door or meet me somewhere in the neighborhood. I made my 1st submission in months. It felt so good. I know its nothing special but its something for the team. xeon 3540 pcmark05. not bad considering I landed 3rd place on a bloated 24/7 os and ran on air at 3.8ghz and ram running looser than madonna's (|) !!! the 2 guys ahead of me are on Ln2 at 5ghz. I should get this board insulated and some ln2 and even the playing field. I've never benched this setup on cold so I have no idea what the cpu is capable of. Its been my 24/7 gaming rig so I never messed around with it. I'll take it all down if bulldozer ever comes out. Until then I should probably get my act together and get the band back together. its been too long boys!

GCX is good, I did a quick compare against Arctic Ceramique on a 990X and its night and day difference. I could barely bench Aquamark and control temperature at ~6250 MHz, and GCX makes it super easy at 6400. It;s like my pot suddenly became more responsive and much faster.
Thanks Honda :) - I'm done with Aquamark, my opponent has steped out and I think i've reached the limit of this rig. I might use it to get some Aqua hardware points though :)

I just responded with "Do they use liquid nitrogen to make meth?.." He ended up getting off at the next floor because he thought the ln2 was dangerous. He ended up calling the super of my bldg to come investigate my apt and when they saw all the computer crap and water cooling crap and asked what I was doing I told them I hit my head on the sink and found a way to travel back to 1985. Its always a gamble when I roll the dewar into the elevator you never know what is gonna happen. Ln2 in NYC is a whole different ballgame. you have cops and terrorism bullcrap and they see a 35L tank in the back of your car with vapor leaking out they start asking questions. then the elevator. I would say the drive back from mckinney to my house and the elevator is more stressful than the actual board prep and benches combined. Its hilarious.
i try to load my van with dewars late at night so my neighbors don't get excited. never been to nyc, i think after sept11 and that iphone thingy, people are way different now.

full pot benching is just awesome, no oxygen coz you replaced oxygen with nitrogen in the house. and then you got the free water everywhere lol.
Chew was definitely the driving force in that event. I benched with him a year ago and that experience changed my life. Its always been my dream to get paul acorn and brian together and do some pcmark benches.

i was lucky and didn't have to sell my phase or my dewer, so now all i need is another kingpin paperweight and the fun begins...

weekend bench result, finally broke 12k for 3d11, huge gains with the new drivers. gpu was bad, 3gb memory did not scale speedwise, but it was friendlier with no cb temps. i think i'll be able to push 1570ish with more ln2. the no-name pot did really well.

Honda nice job man. I just went to the Primus show at Roseland tonight and I havent seen them live since 1993. I was expecting the worst because the last show I saw at roseland ballroom was THE CARS reunion and it blowed so hard I got 2 beers from the bar and it was so jam packed full of squares and guys in their 40s I left after 30 min. But the Primus show tonight was so rad!!!
I recently bought a canon HF-S21 high def camera and always wanted to record a live show. So all day I was like "should I tape it? what if I get caught by security?" etc etc/. So I came up with this plan to hide the camera in this marc jacobs vest (my last girlfriend worked for MJ so I got hooked up) that vest is like a fishing vest with all these pockets and is reversable. the key is that it has this long pocket in the back where your lumbar is so I put the cam in there and thought once I made it past security I would get my beers and start filming the show.
So I finally get to the venue and they have these huge IRish bouncers patting everyone down and they pat the back of the vest and find the camera so I have to explain (i played dumb) hey i didnt know.
So he tells me I need to check the camera with this lady so I agree. She tells me that the camera is too valuable and I should hold the camera but I need to give her the camera battery so i cant use the camera and after the show I get the camera back.
Remember in Batman the dark knight when Morgan Freeman has to give the security guard in China his cell phone? Well it was just like that. She turns away and I reached into my pocket and with one hand I took the cover off my blackberry and got the battery out and gave her the battery from the phone. She took it with no suspicion and the canon I snuck in still has the battery!!!!!!!
So I get past that and I have my camera still avail. So next I go to the bar and ask the bartender for a Campari and soda and can of bud. Campari is red so when I see him start pouring clear alcohol I ask him what hes doing and he says hes pouring me a bacardi and soda!!! Bacardi and soda!??? i was like "hey man I wanted campari and soda" he says they dont have campari and he thought I said bacardi and soda.
I dont know about the hw bot team but who asks for bacardi and soda!!? EXACTLY! nobody. not even Don or uncle steve. So I tell him hey man its cool Ill take it and I give him 20 bux. he hands it back and says "ive been dealing with these aholes from jersey and long Island all night and they still suck and i gave you the wrong order and you were cool about it so its on the house. I tipped him 10 bux..
So now I have the camera snuck in and i have 20 bux worth of drinks for 10 bux and Primus is rocking. To make a long story short, I got in good position and got someone to hold my drinks for me during the whole show while I worked the camera, I didnt get caught, some babe went to do a beer run for me while I was recording and the dudes behind me passed me some grass and I got grassed to the max during the encore. I got my battery back and bought fizzle fry on vinyl and managed to get home safe and have all this amazing Primus footage to share with everyone!
