i was able to bench up to 1030/1330 but since only @ stock cooling held back @ 1000/1300

That would be because of the stock bios bug that won't allow higher OC then 770mhz I believe.
I just have my 3850 256mb a few days. Fun card to play with. I did a small voltbump by modding the bios and can bench @ 890/999.
the driver resets after about 10 second when i stress the clocks using ati tool.

ive capped the front the same way but got diminishing clocks on air.. probably works better on water.. will try the back capping

I'm working in Vref mod atm. Hope to get cold-bug under... My previous 3870 did 1170@1,84V@-4C ambient but this one I own now can't do over 1080@air. I used LN2 but no result because of -10C CB :( (1120MHz max...)
How do You guys know what caps to use? I don't see any markings on the little ceramic ones...
nice results but i think my 3850 is dieing or dead. i was surfing the web and the screen artifacted then went away . then did it again and my screen went black and my monitor didnt go into standy by mode

i used 6.3v 470uf rubycon

I just pencilmodded my new Sapphire HD3850 256mb using the HD4850 pencilmod.
The newer cards, or at least a few I've seen have the uP6201BQ chip.

hi guys! i have a pretty good club3d HD3850, with very good aircooling on it. i'd like to flash a new bios overclocked to 800/1000 but i am really scared since its my first time and i dont wanna fry the card. I'm almost sure that the modified bios is good but who knows, better asking :p:.
