Thanks~ Do I install both instances as services, or one GUI client and one console client?
Thanks :D :DQuote:

EDIT: Nevermind I got it. I was wondering which one is more efficient, running two consoles or a single SMP.
SMP.
BTW, welcome to the team!
I've installed the SMP client and have it running...but the last line reads "Completed 0 out of 500000 steps <0 percent>" and it's been like that for 40 minutes :shakes:
If I <ctrl+c> then restart it, the number goes to 1351 out of 500000. Is the log just not updating or what?
And how do I quit without messing anything up. Total newby...sorry:p:
Thanks
What CPU you running the SMP client on? Do you have any other DC project running?
describe your computer for us and recall it takes up to 40 minutes a frame on slower dual cores...
Athlon X2 Be2300 1.8 ghz, 6600GT, 2gb pc6400
I just realized it's not fast enough for smp :ROTF: ......:(
And I can't get two console versions to run at start up, I can only find the -svcstart in the registry for the first console, the second one won't appear even though I have it installed and configured. I'm currently just using one GUI client until I get the two consoles or smp running properly.
Any suggestions on how I can get them running properly?
Yep it's fast enough for SMP, it will beat the deadlines by about a day no problem
So it is fast enough?
Should I just run the smp even though the log isn't updating? It's yellow on fahmon...so that makes the think that it isn't working
EDIT: It got to 1%...so there is progress :D
Thanks for the help guys~
It will stay yellow until it gets two sections done and then make a calculation of how long it will take to finish. Ignore that estimate altogether until it has two or three complete WU's to average together... expect your PC to take about 52 hrs per WU around 800 points per day production.
It will continue from the last checkpoint when you restart if you have the flags set the way the SMP as a service guide dictates then checkpoints are set every 15 minutes by default (though I set mine at three).
And Yes! use exactly the same user name on a different machine (and team name of course) :wtf:
Sweet, my high school yearbook room has 16 Core2Extreme computers...and 3 more on the way, I'll see if I can get the instructor to let me use them [[high possibility of a yes...he likes me  ]]
And I was just curious...what's stopping people from stealing someone else's user name? I mean...couldn't I just use your name in the configuration menu and pretend to be you and claim that your work was mine?
well, if you put in my user name, the points would appear in my stats
There's nothing to steal, it's all for the good of the science and with that many machines, maybe you could form a small team of your own at your school?
I usually run WCG but I swapped some rigs over to help out for a few days...
Nah, I'm going to stay with this team so I can help contribute something back. I've learned so much from these forums...I've been lurking for a very long time and just started posting recently :p: . I feel like I owe it you guys...well not so much owe...but rather I want to contribute to something that has helped me learn so much:up:
Hey Road-Runner thanks for helping us out, we're really barging down the top of the stats right now so the help is most appreciated :welcome: and thanks!
Lemnia: well we're glad you joined, so stick around and have some fun .... Futuremark is our upcoming friendly rival
I have two dual core boxes folding, and a quad core will follow pretty soon. The q6600 box has an 8800 g80 so should I use F@H SMP or GPU?
You guys at XS are so friendly :D I just thought I should restate a probably known fact
Most excellent. Everytime I see your Av the Road Runner theme song plays in my brain... arghhhhhh. Like it though :)
Folding @GPU is closer for new ATI cards than for NVIDIA at the moment. They are working on it, but there are only so many programming cycles. The Stanford forums are pretty good for giving us updates, you can check there for the most recent news.
:toast:
UnG
Well... I've now two more or less dedicated folders with G80 and G92, but not planning to fold with those as smp-client is mighty powerfull and gpu-client hogs one core.
Really nice thing to say... actually first one I see posted here  :welcome:Quote:
