Sorry dude, can't help ya there I think since I'm stuck with a dual core. This board is a real :banana::banana::banana::banana: to overclock even with a dual core, so I feel your pain. It's hard to figure our if it's board or CPU related because you read different OC stories across the net with this board (for some it works fine fot others it don't).
I thought I had things stable at 4Ghz and 1800Mhz RAM but today when I started playing games intensively on a lan-party it failed on me. I think my CPU is stable but it's on 1.45v in CPU-z with LLC enabled. I don't know if this high voltage is board or CPU related though?!? This means my RAM could be instable but I haven't tried DRAM CLK skews yet so will give that a try when I'm home. My comp. is now running 3.8Ghz (9x420) and 1680Mhz RAM. I think it definitely needs a bios update to get memory stable at higher clock speeds.
I'm still hoping for a new BIOS with better quad support but I'm thinking the board is much better off with a dual core. When you look at Tony's (OCZ) threads on the OCZ forum all the settings are based on dual cores and like he says a 45nm Quad is very hard to get high FSB on. I've put up my E6600 for sale since I hate selling the Q9450 already. If it's sold I'm getting a E8600 so even if I were stuck at 400FSB it's still a nice speed... ofcourse I'm aiming a lot higher with the dual core. If that won't clock either I will sell my P5E3 board and get me another...
I like this X48 Premium a lot :D I'm coming from a buged Evolution which was refusing to boot at most ratios that usually are used: fsb500/ram800 - 500/900 - 500/1000 - 600/800 - ... .. .
I'm on 0505 BIOS for those screenshots:

SEE!! dual cores are fine with this board :P
Love it :D

You (JohnnyV) have 4 cores and 4Gigs of ddr, thats a lot for the NB I think. Good thing too watercool it ;)
ToyTen -> Very nice bandwidth
But can you give us your bios parameter for full stability with prime95 for exemple ?
Sorry, not yet. I'm only benching at the moment. And I seriously don't think I can stabilise at 1.73vNB/2.18vddr for 610fsb... :/
Besides, I do not search for Prime95 stability at high values, too much demanding on hardware I think.
I use Occtv2.1.0.b02 for stability testing, and I only got this mobo 3 days ago, so I am not there yet.
I can show this:

Here is what I got on the Asus Evolution, not just the same... but same chipset, hardware & cooling arround.
I'll probably try to really stabilise it after knowing the limits (cpu under water) ;)
I'm actually trying to get the best Spi1/32m score at 4gigs CPU
Ok , thank you .
some improvment to Everest bandwidth:

It gets really hot tweaking more accurately, I need a Delta fan :D
This is Strap333 5:8 divider with 1.79vNB/2,24vddr. I Boot at 610 then the rest is done with memset and Setfsb.
nice looking mem's toyten , what brand ??
Here are some shots after a round of tweaking like crazy with my second set of G.Skill D9GTS sticks which I haven't played with too much but are turning out to be faster then my first set. This configuration is def. the fastest yet for me.
Max FSB research on this P5E3 Premium BIOS 0505, with an E8600(Q822A435/VID 1,2375v)

Good board, lot of fun :)
@ToyTen : nice your FSB ........that with air cooling ?
Hi Hassan,
It is done with water on the cpu and 2x120mm/12v airflow on northbridge & ram.
ToyTen ... for sure, this board is not bad at all at pi ;)
40GP 32M : target was sub 11 again !

Here are some 3D runs at 490FSB. I changed the mem timings and started overclocking the videocard core/mem by 10mhz each time. All of my runs are on air. Next will be running this setup in my R22 Chiller. I need to get me an E8600 which would run great with these G.Skills.
yeah toyten this board rocks the fsb here 2 ;) , though my chipset coldbugs at -20°C :(.
here are some fsb test's with air on cpu and chipset .

650fsb is easy with air , now im hunting 660fsb with water on chipset .

600fsb 32m not that hard , 605fsb done but not uploaded pic yet ;) .
these are my old test's new with E8600 comming up :D
Hi mate,
seeing this I'd like to know what fsb you can boot on dual channel and lets say air on both cpu's and nb. I'm at 636, but on water for cpu. Did you tested that ?
Here's a link to download my P5E3 Premium BIOS 0505 Q9450 Overclock Profiles if anyone wants to load them and either see my settings and/or try them out with their 45NM QUAD. This is much easier than listing all your BIOS setttings every time.
If you want to just look at the settings but not use them then all you have to do is save the settings you have now in the Standard Profile Manager~ Profile 1, then load my profile and take a look, if you do not like it just go back to Profile Manager~Profile 1 and load your profile back.
It seems I found the cause of my FSB limitation but I'm still testing. I can play games at 8x399 but anything above that would just freeze up windows just before entering my desktop (when the Vista logo animation is played). Yesterday I rebooted the system and I still had my headset on. At the moment the Vista logo appears a sound is played and when I was booting with settings >400 FSB my system would hang and often produce a noise from the headset. At that moment it struck me... it must be my soundcard which is giving an IRQ conflict or something. This morning I removed my X-fi card from the PCI slot above the videocard slot and to do some testing I hooked up my old 36Gb raptor instead of my 150Gb raptors in RAID0. It has XP x64 installed so I booted and removed the SB drivers from it as well. Rebooted with 8x450 and went into windows straight away. S-pi was no problem but when opening the NVmonitor my pc rebooted. Increased the Vcore a bit and the other voltages as well. Then I found my RAM was not 100% stable either as memtest would give a couple of errors. Loosened my timings slightly and now the mem seems stable (a couple of runs of test 5 in memtest86+ usually is a good indicator)
I just finished a 3Dmark 2006 run which produced just over 16k with my HD4870 at stock speeds and my Q9450 at 3,6Ghz. Now I'm up for some real testing like prime/OCCT or Intel Burn test :)
Still.... that something like a plugged in sound card can cause this effect. It might be a bit early to say for sure as I haven't tried my RAID setup with Vista x64 but it seems like the soundcard was holding the board back all the time. Now first get things 100% stable at 8x450 on XP and then try Vista.
Just ran over 1hr of prime 4 threads small FFT and no errors found. Ofcourse not enough to be declared stable but hopeful compared to my previous limit at 399FSB.
